  • Old wives fables and couples’ sex life

Old wives fables and couples’ sex life

    By Funmi Akingbade

I can still recollect vividly years ago when my first cousin was getting married. Preparations were in top gear; all had to be perfect because she was the daughter of a highly respected captain.

A night before her ‘Spinsters Eve’ her mother called her into the bedroom to give her the final word of advice. ‘His meals must be served on time, wholesome, attractive and inviting. You must be a neat and good cook; because the only way to a man’s heart is through his stomach,’ she said.

Most wives-to-be in this part of the world must have heard it said once or twice that the ‘only way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’. Well, the truth is that this is an overstretched half-truth. Many a wife has come to realise that, even when she feeds her husband well with the best delicacies that money can buy, what will really rein him in for good and ensure that he stays indoors most of time – especially on the weekends – is how well she takes care of him in bed.

Wives, no matter what you think, it is what you do in bed and in other matters, apart from food, that will guarantee a sealed deal between you and your husband. I am not saying that giving him good erotic ‘one-in-town-sex is the ‘only’ way to set your marriage on the path of bliss. What I mean is that everything else could amount to nothing without good financial bedrock and great sex. Actually, sex is so important to your husband, that it will be unwise not to live up to his expectation in bed.

Most wives were not born with the ability to make their husbands look great in bed, or to make them scream their heads off in the heat of the action. It doesn’t hurt to appreciate the fact that sex is an art that could be learned and perfected by wives who are sincere about making their marriages successful.

For this reason, I want to talk about what every wife who wants to keep her husband should know. They are little things that we take for granted, which, frankly speaking, make a world of difference between satisfying our men sexually, or alienating them and thereby, giving room to unnecessary quarrels in the home.

To begin with, if there is one place in your home that you need to pay a lot of attention to, it is the bedroom. Wives should keep their bedroom neat at all times. The bedroom is the wife’s empire and office of authority where she takes sexual powers into her hands, influences and control her husband at will and where her laws are executed.

Make it a point of duty to change the arrangement and colour of your bedroom quarterly. Nothing kills passion faster than faded, unappealing and ugly grandma-type underwear, or cheap, low quality brassieres that sag.

Invest in good and sexy lingerie that will not only bring an appreciative response from your husband, but ensure that you get his undivided attention. After all, what do you want from him – devotion and uninterrupted moments?

Wise women understand the need to turn the bedroom into one unpretentious sex theatre. Everything in your bedroom must look, smell and feel erotic, passionate, colourful, calming, inviting and sexy – from the beddings to the décor and right down to the lighting. It is important to eliminate distractions by restricting, for example, the television set to the sitting room (where it really ought to be) and ensuring that books remained in the study. Your bed is not an extended laundry room where the remnant of your children’s clothing are carelessly dumped, nor a nursery room that is drenched, dripping wet, soaked and saturated with the filth of urine.

The bedroom should only be for making romantic, erotic and sexual conversations, coddling, sleeping in a peaceful manner and for hot, unforgettable sex. Nothing else is acceptable.

Mothers don’t tell us to flaunt our bodies before our husband, but this is one of the ways to his heart. Flaunt your God-given body seductively before your husband because it is your unique gift to him. A confident display of your body in a seductive manner is a sure-fire turn-on for any man, and quite honestly, chances are he will not really care that your figure is not drop-dead, come-hither type.

It will not cost you a dime to be adventurous in your own bedroom. It is the perfect place to actualise your sexual fantasy. While you are at it, remember that going through the same routine all the time will lead both of you nowhere. Therefore, it is important to break the repetitiveness by trying out something new.

For example, if you always have sex before turning out the lights, you can try it in the morning as soon as you wake up from sleep. If your man is always positioned on top during sex, surprise him with a bit of bedroom acrobatics. If he is always the one who makes the first move, now is the time to turn the tables round and take the initiative for a change.

Go all out to flavour up your sex life. Dream up new ideas. Doing this will not make you look like a slut, rather it will transform you into your husband’s dream. Believe me, with most men, there’s nothing that’s as thrilling as a wife with a healthy sexual appetite and a heart that is willing to try out new ideas in bed. Anybody can cook better than you and anyone can feed your man well, but nobody should be able to give him great sex; the moment that happens you have lost the man.

Mothers don’t tell us to flirt with our husbands, but flirting could spice up your sex life. Wife, form a habit of flirting with your husband all the time. When you put on your alluring airs, you are indirectly him that you are always interested in his sexual prowess; men react positively to this kind of attitude.

Mothers say respect your husband, but they never tell us to look at them with tempting eyes.  The way you look at your husband is very important. This is because glances could generate an exchange of sexual energy.

Dressing seductively could eventually get your husband fired up sexually, even though he would pretend initially not to notice. Any wife that is serious about winning the attention of her husband and getting into his heart ought to keep a sexy kit handy and make sure that all the items are available anytime, anywhere and at strategic points in the car, kitchen, and bed sides.

Most husbands are frequently under sexual pressure. A recent research revealed that an average man thinks about sex at least ten to twelve times in a day and ejaculates frequently when they are beside an attractive lady. It does not matter whether you are newlywed, a nursing mother, a menopausal spouse. What matters is that you must treat the matrimonial bed like a bona fide business and make it one. You can even be a little mysterious sexually. The fact is if a wife arouses her husband’s curiosity, it is guaranteed he will always be back for more.

You voice your fantasy too! Mother says you would ‘be looked at as a ‘spoilt girl’. But creating sexual scenarios in your mind, sharing and practicing them with your spouse is never a bad way into his heart. Experts say all living beings have sexual fantasies; many imagine themselves enjoying erotic moments with their spouses in strange places at strange times and so on. Sharing sexual fantasies with your husband is a way of heightening and intensifying erotic potential by showing your husband possibilities that he has never considered before. In turn, this will open the door to his heart and a lifetime of sexual ecstasy.

Men love women who behave well because good behaviour is like an appetizer to a beautiful sexual life. Unfortunately, this is one area where most wives miss it. Most women hardly understand that heartfelt verbal compliments or words of appreciation have their unique effect on any relationship. Words of admiration and compliments are greater motivators than negative speech. When husbands receive comforting words from their wives, they are far more likely to be motivated to reciprocate beautifully on their sexuality.

Most men have sexual problems that often rub off badly on their self-confidence and which they lack the courage to confront. Sometimes they complain of premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, weak erection and loss of libido. When wives encourage their husbands their actions act like catalysts for them to face any challenges with great hope.

A lot of the complaints I have received from men about the size of their sex organs is primarily initiated by their wives’ sarcastic criticism and comments. However, with 36-hour-of-freedom or great Cialis, premature ejaculation is becoming outdated, while the herbs from Vietnam are taking care of weak erection and erectile dysfunction.

Our men will always interpret our sexual messages to them from the tone of our voices and body movement, not the words we speak. When what we say to them connotes condemnation and judgment we send them away from our beds on indefinite leave and make them sexually impotent. Good speech goes a long way to improving a man’s libido and creating a pathway to his heart.

Great sex is like a basic chemical reaction between spouses, so give your husband the best sex so ever. The best sex lasts between seven and thirteen minutes. According to a study published in a journal, medical researchers who surveyed peoples bedroom preferences says three minutes is too short, five to ten minutes is adequate and 30 minutes is too long. For now, keep your sex passion aflame.

    QUESTION ONE

I am a new bride, though I have been sexually active few months to my wedding, I am worried over some things. Why do I get more vaginal infections now that I am married? Should I tell my husband that I am infected? Is it okay to have sex with the condition, because the man is just all over me?

During sex, your husband’s penis can propel rectal bacteria present near your vaginal opening into your urethra. Peeing after sex and cleaning your genital area with soap before sex will kill those bacteria. Yes, do tell him, just to assure him that the condition is harmless and poses no risk to his health; because they are rarely sexually transmitted disease and healthy husbands almost never develop them. With yeast infection, the vaginal tissues become inflamed, having sex further increases the irritation and slows down the healing process. Wait three days till the infection clears up before having sex, since symptoms such as burning, itching, and lack of lubrication could make sex very uncomfortable.

    QUESTION TWO

My husband’s libido has totally tapered off in the past few months and I can’t figure out why. I know I haven’t changed, but he’s now seldom able to rev his engine. He’s having some financial issues, so I can’t really suggest a romantic time-out together to reignite his flame. What do you think the problem is?

It could be number of things: a medical issue, depression, air pollution or stress. I think you actually provided a pointer that could answer your question; the lack of money – it has a tremendous effect on a man’s ego, which means it also has a tremendous effect on his penis. Therefore, your husband is most likely to be depressed by his current lack of finances.

Unfortunately, there’s not enough lingerie in the world that would solve his real problems. So focus on lifting his spirits while avoiding the subject of money as much as possible. Suggest low-key outings and introducing him to Cialis 36-hour-of-freedom and Vietnam herbs to boost his libido. This would prove to him that you love him enough to see him through his rough patch.

  • Rotimi Salami: I’m a success with love from female fans

Rotimi Salami: I’m a success with love from female fans

Rotimi Salami has grown over the last decade to become one of the popular faces in the Nigeria movie industry widely referred to as Nollywood. The actor and producer, who features in both Yoruba and English speaking films opens up on his marriage, relationship with female fans, as well as his highs and lows in this interview with ADENIYI ADEWOYIN.

How would you describe your passion for acting?

Acting is just a way of life for me. You live your life, you’re happy, I live mine and I’m happy too. Our day to day life, that’s the way acting is to me.

You are also a producer, why don’t you put out movies like your colleagues do?

When it comes to filmmaking, you just can’t decide to start producing movies because every other person is producing, if you do not find the proper source to make a film yet. The few movies I’ve done I’m still not satisfied because I feel like I do not have adequate resources to make them good enough because money is never enough but then having something close to having a comfortable shoot – I don’t have so I have to take my time.

What are the things you consider as a setback to shooting these types of movies you mentioned?

Basically funds, finance is the major thing when it comes to making a good film.

You feature in both Yoruba and English speaking films, which do you prefer?

I don’t prefer any, I’m an actor so any job that comes in whatever language I do it. If I act speaking English, Yoruba or Igbo, at the end of the day, I’m still acting, so I do not prefer one above the other. All I have to do is do what I’m paid to do and do it very well.

But these are of different environments though same industry, hence, which do you feel more relaxed with?

I feel relaxed with any. If you call yourself an actor, I don’t see any discomforting zone, you should be able to do your thing notwithstanding the environment. The only thing you may likely have challenges sometimes with is the kind of roles that you may likely play in any of the scripts. Yes, if you talk about the environment, you are right. Of course, it’s just like dealing with people on a daily basis, you meet different people with different characters so it depends on the kind of people that I meet on a particular set that will determine whether I will enjoy the set or not but either way, I have a way of making myself enjoy the set.

How do you combine marriage and acting?

I always tell people that I am blessed because my wife is a thespian, so she understands the job and when it comes to shuffling my wife made it a lot easier for me because we communicate often. She could even see one booty and send the picture to me like “babe see this yansh” and I could be working and see something and send to her as well so we communicate like we are together and I talk to my kids thank God for video call and all that. For me it’s a way of life like I said earlier.

You seem to be very close to your wife that you can share anything with her

(cuts in) Yes actually my wife is my friend and my kids are my friends also.

Are there no things you hold back from your wife despite your closeness?

In all sincerity, that is why you should court before getting married. Now it’s advisable that when you court, try as much as you can to be real, if you are real, it helps you a whole lot to be able to show out everything that you are and see if your partner can manage you like that because the truth about it is that nobody is perfect, everybody will have the best character to suit the other person but we can actually condole and get used to one another and it becomes a lifestyle already. So if there’s anything I’m doing today with my wife in terms of communication, we’ve been doing it since we were dating so it made a lot of things quite easy for me and I will barely hold anything back. The only thing is I will just watch her mood to see if it’s the best time to raise a particular topic or gist.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve shared with your wife?

I shared all my love escapades in the past with her just as we got into the relationship. When I say I shared everything that includes the sex styles too. It can be crazy sometimes but truth be told if it’s a forever thing for you then let him or her see the weirdest part of you. No gist about me is new to my wife.

How often do you get DMs from female fans?

Per hour and I’m not even joking. But then I do not see it as anything weird, I’m grateful to God for that. You are not a celebrity if you are not being celebrated, you can’t keep moving if you are not being appreciated, you will not grow if they don’t like what you do. The truth is that they say anything that a woman has a hand in brings forth success, so if I’m loved by women, then I’m a success.

Does your wife know about the Direct Messages?

Yes she does, I show her a few.

    Won’t she be jealous?

The truth about it is that how do I stop a person from sending half nude pictures to me? The way I react to it is the most important thing. I was a weird guy before I got married, I explored so it’s not really new to me. Handling it is easy, all thanks to my mom, she taught me a lot.

What project are you working on for the rest of the year?

I have a coming television series, previous episodes have aired on Africa Magic. It’s ready now and will premiere very soon. It is titled ‘Jack of All Trade.’ Also before the year runs out, I’m looking at shooting a cinema project.

Talking about cinema movies, which one brings more money between cinema movies and home videos?

When it comes to Return Of Investment (ROI), the one that brings more money if well done and well executed is cinema but it is more stressful and getting it right around here is a little tricky because if you make for example two hundred million maybe what will come to you is forty to fifty million, the rest goes to the distributors, the cinema, it goes to PR so there are lots of things that consumes money when it comes to that but at the end of the day if it goes right sometimes it could be better than that. What people don’t know is that it takes almost the same time to get your return of investment on cinema movies like home videos. It’s not like a shorter time for your regular movies. Only if you have the funds and you know the whereabouts on how to go about what you want to do, I will say oh do a cinema movie just because of my own wealth of experience but if you are a beginner and you know you want to test the waters, a cinema movie is not the best for you to do except you have a hand that is capable of taking care of that.

What is the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?

I take risks every time I think I am even at risk myself. My very first attempt at making an audio visual was in 2007, it never saw the light of day. Another attempt was in 2010 when I shot my first series ‘Kuti’s Career Palace’, it came on TV in 2013, 2014 I shot a season two with close to about five million in cash and in human value and the last day of shoot, the hard drive that I had the job in crashed and I was almost going to give up and let go. For like seven months, the money I was getting from advertising, I was trying to use to repair the hard drive but all to no avail. Months after we got a nomination for the same series for best comedy writer. I also risk my first cinema movie too in 2017.

    What about outside filmmaking?

Majorly, I’m just film, the risk I take outside will also have something to do with film.

Does that mean you don’t do other things?

I don’t do anything apart from film though I intend to start doing things. Maybe real estate.

Barcelona’s Koeman banned for Atletico Madrid

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has been hit with a two-game ban by the Spanish FA after being shown a red card in Thursday’s shock 2-1 defeat at home to Granada and will miss the visit of La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid next Saturday.

The Dutchman’s suspension starts with Sunday’s trip to his former club Valencia as Barca look to bounce back from the loss to Granada, which means the Catalans no longer have the destiny of the title in their own hands.

Koeman was dismissed in the aftermath of Darwin Machis’s 63rd minute equaliser for Granada at the Nou Camp.

In his post-game report the referee said the Barca coach, having already been warned about his conduct, spoke degradingly to the fourth official, shouting “What a character” at him.

Jurgen Klopp will once again have to select a makeshift back four as Liverpool prepare to visit Old Trafford.

Manchester United warmed-up for Sunday afternoon’s meeting against their old rivals with a memorable 6-2 win over Roma in the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Doubles from Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani put United on the verge of a place in the Gdansk showpiece.

Those strikes came after Lorenzo Pellegrini (pen) and former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko had Italian visitors Roma 2-1 to the good at half-time of the first leg.

However, the hosts responded through Fernandes and Cavani, while Paul Pogba and substitute Mason Greenwood later got themselves in on the act.

Liverpool were without a midweek fixture ahead of their trip to the same venue on Sunday afternoon.

He joins long-term absentees Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez (both knee) on the sidelines, while fellow defender Joel Matip (ankle) and captain Jordan Henderson (groin) are not yet fit enough to return, either.

Asked if there was any change to his injury list, manager Klopp said, “No, no, all the same in this moment.”

  • Picking Rohr’s brain

    Picking Rohr’s brain

    By Ade Ojeikere

Gernot Rohr comes across as one football coach who thinks he knows his onions even if it is going to take forever for him to deliver a trophy. Will you blame him? No. His coaching pedigree suggests that he is not one used to podium celebrations. He doesn’t understand the hurry in delivering trophies to the teeming fans. Again, would anyone blame Rohr? No. He hasn’t been lucky to handle teams or countries with the kind of talents available to our national teams’ tacticians. And his employers Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) didn’t set very high standards for Rohr when he joined because Super Eagles was a sinking ship that needed an undertaker to rescue it. Rohr dragged the Eagles from being ‘Super Chicken’ or a big-for-nothing squad.

Credit should go to Rohr for reducing the average age of the team to between 22 and 24, giving it a very competitive edge if they play to their strength and potentials. The German also used his influence to sway a lot of Nigeria-born kids whose ages we can vouch for, unlike our locals whose ages are measured by sworn affidavits not birth certificates. This bunch of players has close to ten years to give their best to the nation with proper coaching.

Penultimate week, the news from the international media suggested that Rohr would be working with a 50-man squad. Many screamed blue murder considering the time the manager had spent rebuilding the squad. The 50-member squad sounded like a failed project given the exploits of our players in Europe which clearly showed us who our best players are. For others, it was in Rohr’s character to list 23 players with five standby players, most of who sneak into the squad when invited players sustain injuries playing for their European clubs.

Rohr may have heard the cries of his critics in the media since the world is a global village. On Tuesday, Rohr spoke with French newspaper Ouest France stating that he had drawn a 30-man squad which he hoped to submit to the NFF in the next three weeks. This provisional 30-man team would be pruned to 23, which he would announce as those to prosecute the June 6 tie against the Lone Stars of Liberia inside the late Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos from 5 pm. No prize for guessing that the remaining seven players would form Rohr’s characteristic standby team.

Read Also: Millions of Lagos residents to lose TV signals

One would have glossed over the stories but considered it expedient to pick Rohr’s brain knowing that this is how he releases his squad list to gauge Nigerians’ comments on his intentions. The thirty-man squad looks more like it unlike the initial flyer of 50 players. But this 30-man squad shouldn’t include goalkeepers Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa. The list shouldn’t have Kenneth Omeruo, Tyronne Ebuehi, a good player but doesn’t have the strength to play the African game, Jamiu Collins, Ahmed Musa, Henry Onyekuru, Samuel Kalu, Chidozie Awaziem and Shehu Abdullahi.

I want to shock Rohr here. If he insists on the central pair of Balogun and Ekong, Nigeria will not win the Africa Cup of Nations. They are poor headers of the ball, they can’t anticipate crosses, and are tentative to their approach to most games. Over time, this writer has seen the duo beaten by good passes which either of them ought to have anticipated, making them look like amateurs that they really are. It seems to me, that Balogun and Ekong play in the same position to necessitate this flaw. They are both right-legged players, raising the poser how any one of them could function as a no.6 player. It is the reason the Eagles concede early goals.

If Rohr can’t find a left legged or a defender who uses his left foot very well, he might as well look at the local league for such a player.

The performance of Enyimba’s Anayo Iwuala in the last two AFCON qualifiers against the Squirrels of Benin Republic and the Crocodiles of Lesotho proved that Rohr was all along underrating the capacity of the NPFL stars to compete for shirts with their foreign-based compatriots.

Providence had a hand in Iwuala’s journey into the national team because he was never in Rohr’s plans for the AFCON qualifiers until some Europe based players pulled out due to coronavirus restrictions.

One would have suggested Semi Ajayi but he is prone to mistakes and doesn’t know how to neatly wrest the ball from the opposition. Ajayi’s major flaw is tackling from behind. He has good height, knows how to head the ball but he is a slow runner. I will suggest that Rohr finds somewhere in the defence Ola Aina because of his versatility. He has a good height, uses both legs, plays regularly for Fulham and that should help get him into the Eagles’ first team. Players such as Balogun and Ekong will struggle against top-class oppositions like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The best player in the Eagles’ current defence is Zaidu Sanusi. He can be a truly world-class player with the right guidance. It is no surprise that Wolves FC of England’s scouts want to sign him for next season. I foresee a bigger future for him.

In previous Eagles teams, we know who is no.5 and who is no.6. Uche Okechukwu and Chidi Nwanu never stood on the same line while defending. Players like Taribo West instilled fear into the minds of opposition’s attackers. West understood how to partner Okechukwu at the Atlanta’96 Olympic Games largely because Okechukwu knew what to do.  What we have now are players who fall to the ground when strikers run at them. Recall, how we couldn’t defend against minnows Sierra Leone and conceded four cheap goals at home to draw the match 4-4. Are we sure, Balogun and Ekong are the best choices for the centre-back position under Rohr?

We already have two tested goalkeepers in the national team, Maduka Okoye and Francis Uzoho. Both goalkeepers have age on their side. They have enough years to grow into being world-class goalkeepers. They are young and have shown a high propensity to learn. In fact, they have learned from their past mistakes. It has been easy for them to recover very fast because they are young. Kudos to Rohr for sticking with them. However, the third choice goalkeeper must come from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Rohr should again invite John Noble who mans the goalpost for Enyimba FC of Aba, Nigeria’s surviving club in CAF’s inter-club competition to find out if he is still in form. Rohr has no business playing our armada of foreign-based stars against the Lone Stars of Liberia in Lagos. He should at best invite 13 foreign-based players and fill the remaining 1o spots with good home-based players. The argument that he wouldn’t want to take risk which could jeopardise Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the Qatar 2022 World Cup is weak if the opposition is the Lone Stars of Liberia, with due respect.

Allowing the three home-based players in the last two games against the Squirrels of the Benin Republic and the Crocodiles of Lesotho back to the squad such as Adekunle Adeleke, goalkeeper John Noble, and  Anayo Iwuala would boost their confidence. It would further reassure the others in the domestic league that they could surpass what the trio would have achieved with a second invitation. Home-based players in the local leagues would know that they are no longer training materials for every new session before Nigeria’s international matches. This is the fillip the domestic leagues need for growth.

Nigeria has always been blessed with great forwards and the current Coach Gernot Rohr has been blessed with three goal-scorers that are totally different but can complement each other when used properly. Now, the German needs to earn his pay and make these guys fire the Super Eagles back to its glory days.
