Comparison of weddings childish – Actress Biodun Okeowo

Actress Biodun Okeowo popularly known as Omoborty has spoken out about the trend of comparing celebrity weddings, calling it a childish act.

Omoborty on Instagram argued the grandeur of a wedding doesn’t determine the success of a marriage.

Her opinion comes after fans compared the recent weddings of Mr. Eazi and Temi Otedola to that of Davido and Chioma, with many throwing jabs at Davido and praising Mr. Eazi’s wedding.

According to her, wealth and taste are two different things, and what truly matters is the love and commitment between the couple.

She added that everyone has the right to celebrate their wedding in their own unique way, whether simple or extravagant, noting that some couples even go into debt to fund their dream wedding.

In her view, comparing weddings is childish and unnecessary, as it’s the couple’s happiness that truly matters.

She wrote: “Money can decorate a hall but it can’t decorate marriage. So let’s stop confusing money with taste. They are not the same thing. The level of a wedding doesn’t equate to the success of the marriage.

“Wealth or no wealth does not decide taste. Some like it simple, some extravagant, some in between. A party does not prove riches, it reflects personality. Rich or poor, people have the right to celebrate  in their own style. Comparing weddings and arguing whose is better is childish. What exactly are people going to do with the ratings?

“An intimate wedding does not mean there is no money and elaborate wedding does not automatically prove wealth. Some even go into debt just to have the lavish wedding of their dreams. Marriage for most happens once, so the wedding should be the couple’s dream, done in whatever way they choose, without having any right to water down their joy or make comparison”.

Anto Lecky shares how she overcame workplace stereotypes as a reality TV star

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Anto Lecky, has opened up about her experiences dealing with stereotypes and biases in the workplace following her appearance on the reality show.

Speaking at a recent gathering, Anto revealed that people often assumed she lacked intelligence or capability simply because of her background as a reality TV star.

She stressed the importance of focusing on one’s skills, talents, and education to prove oneself, rather than being defined by negative perceptions.

According to her, continuous learning, unlearning, and relearning are key to personal growth, as well as the belief that someone out there values your skills and talents.

Anto urged individuals to always be prepared and confident in their abilities, noting that opportunities can emerge when least expected.

Anto said, “You do not want to work for a company that does not allow you to prove yourself. So I’ll use myself as an example. Many of you might know me.

“I was on a reality show. However, many years ago, everyone had this idea that people who go on Big Brother, especially women who go on Big Brother, are going there to sell themselves, and I don’t mean sell themselves professionally, literally sell themselves.

“So oftentimes when I go into rooms, people who might not, you know, might not know me. So I’m like, Oh, don’t you know how she’s Anto from Big Brother? And I really see that look in the person’s eye. I just want to do things for the back.

“You know, it’s something that I have accepted that people will say, I don’t cry about it. I don’t feel bad about it. We will always face these challenges as women who think that we’re less strong.

“They’re not as smart, and we belong in the other room. These companies will exist. What you have to focus on is, like we’ve said, your skills, your talents, your education, what you can do.

“Someone out there is looking for the skills that you have. Don’t worry about the people who are not looking for you. There’s someone who is looking for you. So continue to, like we said, learn, unlearn, and relearn. There will be a day when someone will see your CV, and they’ll be rushing to you. That exists.

“It is what it is. And when it comes to these opportunities, Oh, they say 10-year, three-year, many of these things, the experience applies to those jobs. One year, however much your experiences apply, you never know, sometimes it just happens by magic that someone says, Oh, I like this person.

“This person’s work is up to it. But of course, keep practicing. There are other ways to get opportunities. Like they said, there’s communities, there’s groups, there’s places where you can find people that are fine with the entry-level experience.”

BBNaija: Adekunle defends housemates over intimate moments

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle, has defended contestants of the ongoing season who have been involved in intimate moments on the show.

In a post on X, Adekunle argued that the housemates are consenting adults and not doing anything wrong by being attracted to one another, especially as the show is rated 18.

His comments follow reactions to intimate scenes involving pairs such as Koyin and Isabella, Jason Jae and Sultana, as well as Mide and Bright Morgan.

Adekunle cautioned against image shaming and name-calling, noting that such criticism undermines the essence of the reality show.

He added that many of those judging might be guilty of similar behavior away from the public eye.

Adekunle wrote, “The only sin big brother housemates actually commit is coming on the show to entertain you guys. I can’t believe the things I’m seeing on the TL. LOL.

“So, because consenting adults ON A RATED 18 show who are clearly attracted to each other get intimate, that’s why you guys are coming up with all these think pieces? The amount of hypocrisy I’ve witnessed from you guys this week alone is very laughable.

“What do you guys really think happens when adults are left together in a confined space? Please let’s be real. Not one single person in that house has done anything wrong because they’re attracted to someone else. This image shaming, reputation damaging, name calling and things you guys are on, is exactly what is killing the show.

“The gag in all of this is, the people who are pointing fingers and quick to accusations actually do much worse, with multiple people infact, but because it’s not on national tv you think you’re all saints? You all better go to church and ask for forgiveness”.
