Taiwo Awoniyi scored his third goal of the season in three consecutive matches as Union Berlin beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-1 to pick up their first win of the German Bundesliga season, leaving Adi Hütter’s men still waiting for theirs.

Awoniyi’s goal was his fifth of the season in all competitions, equalling his tally for the whole of last season before injury cut short his season in February.

The Nigeria youth  International was substituted in the 73rd  minute for Kevin Behrens as the Foals moved to the eighth spot with five points from three games.

Elsewhere, Terem Moffi played his fourth league of the season in Lorient’s 2-2 away draw against John Utaka’s former club, RC Lens and he earned his first assist of the season in the process.
