Armed bandits have killed 13 people and burnt down a police station in Beri and Kasanga towns in Mariga local government area of Niger state.

This is coming barely a day after an unspecified number of children were abducted from an Islamiyya school in Tegina town in Rafi local government area of Niger state.

The Nation learnt that the attack began at about 10am in Unguwan Malam village along Bangi Kotokoro road in Beri before the bandits entered the main town.

Among the 13 persons killed, one was a Mobile Policeman.

The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) confirmed the attack.

The attack which was documented explained that several people were hurt in the incident while an unspecified number of people were abducted.

According to the documents, some of the names of the deceased were listed.

They include Idris Ahmed Kwata, Hadiza Umaru Tunga, Momi Dalandi, Ibrahim Dalkadi, Yau Dalladi, Saadiya Garba and Garba Umar.

Others are: Tashanjirgi, Hussaini Shuaib, Ayuba Garba, Abdullahi Jodi, Alhaji Isah Kasakohi, and Fatima Nasiru Kwata.

The state Police Command is yet to respond to calls and messages as the security agencies are said to be in a meeting with the Deputy Governor and other government officials.
