A philanthropist and former executive of the Central Bank, Chief Daniel Bankole Afilaka, has embarked on distribution of COVID-19 relief packages across the four Local governments of his immediate Constituency in Osun State.
The distribution of COVID-19 relief packages was part of his efforts to cushion the effects of the raging pandemic.
Some of the beneficiaries were the elderly, disabled and needy people in Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Ilesha East and West of Osun State.

Afilaka who is also known to be a successful businessman, launched his Opa kan Foundation which will be aimed at creating strategies and avenues for economic empowerment of constituents.
Recall that in 2019, the Opa kan Foundation held the Ijesha economic agenda Seminar in Ilesha where it was agreed that the people would have to create a self-help mechanism to alleviate poverty in that region of Osun State.
The Chairman of the Foundation, Chief Daniel Bankole Afilaka said, “For well over a decade, I have always been an avid believer that our greatest asset as a people are our human resources.
“As such, we have created a platform where Sons, Daughters and friends of Ijeshas can pull together their resources towards lifting up the less privileged within the society through innovative empowerment strategies. Let each person help the other up out of the poverty line and into financial independence.”

“This is what we believe can lead to a more equitable society where every man has an opportunity to attain their full potential and as such become an asset to the community we call home” he added.
