Lagos State has paid N70 million as compensation to families of slain/injured officers since inception of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration in May 2019.
Chief of Staff to the governor, Tayo Ayinde, spoke at the presentation of N5 million to the family of a Rapid Response Squad (RRS) officer, Oluwatobi Peters, who died in service.
Ayinde said the token was government’s way at comforting the bereaved family.
He noted that officers, who sustained injuries in service, also got medical aid.
Ayinde reiterated that the gestures were part of Sanwo-Olu’s policy of ensuring the welfare of security personnel for effective performance.
He said the government would ensure the state was secured and safe with support to security operatives.
