Boko Haram supplier arrested in Borno

FORTY-FIVE suspected criminals, including a Boko Haram logistics supplier, are in Borno police custody, it was said on Wednesday.

Goni Mallum Muttia, 45, was arrested with food items and sundry supplies at Gamboru Market in Maiduguri, the state capital, police spokesman Okon Edet said, adding that the articles found on the suspect were meant to be shipped to designated Boko Haram enclaves outside the state capital.

Edet said the suspects included robbers, rustlers, fraudsters, kidnappers and extortioners, among others.

Some of the rustled cows were found wandering in the Diffa area of Niger Republic, Edet said in a text message.

Some stolen in Cameroon were brought into Nigeria where a good number of them were sold before the rustlers were apprehended, he said.

“Arrested in connection with terrorism is one Alhaji Goni Mallum Mutti of Muna Asheri area of Maiduguri for being a member of the Boko Haram group.

“The suspect confessed that he was saddled with the responsibility of supplying logistics and essentials to the sect.

“He was in possession of N200,000 cash and assorted foodstuff, among other items,” DSP Okon said.
