Twenty-four out of 25 Takum youths abducted by kidnappers along Wukari _ Takum road in Taraba state have been rescued.

The Nation gathered the youths were rescued by combined team of soldiers and police from Benue and Taraba in an operation inside a forest situated between Taraba and Benue Saturday evening.

A former member of Taraba House of Assembly, Alhaji Baba Muhammed, who is also a relation of some of the victims, disclosed this to The Nation on phone.

He said the security agents have continued the search with the view to rescuing the remaining one person still being held by the kidnappers.

According to the former lawmaker, all the rescued youths have been taken to Takum General Hospital for treatment.

The Nation gathered it has been celebration galore since the news of the release of the victims filtered into Takum town.

It was gathered that some of the kidnappers were arrested and no ransom was paid for rescued youths.

“It was a good job conducted by the soldiers, who were from Taraba and Benue states,”a resident of Takum said.

Taraba police spokesman David Misal said he will not officially confirm the rescue because he was no longer the PPRO of the Command.

“I heard about the rescue of 24 youths but l cannot officially confirm to you  because right now I’m on transfer and the person that would take over from me  is not yet on ground,” Misal said.
