President Muhammadu Buhari has charged the Nigerian women’s basketball team D’Tigress to go to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, determined for a great outing.
The President gave the charge on Monday while commending the team for qualifying for the Olympics.
President Buhari, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, noted that the Nigerian team, the reigning African champion, had all it takes to make a global impact.
“President Buhari felicitates with female basketball team, D’Tigress, for qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, urging them to remain focused, determined and energized for a good outing at the tournament.
“The President commends the sportsmanship and resilience of the team all through the qualifying stages, and in their trainings, saluting their courage in always putting out their best as they represent the country.

“Being the current African Champions, President Buhari believes the D’Tigress already have the talents that can make global impact in the sport. The Federal Government would ensure proper preparation and mobilization for all their outings.
“The President also commends team officials and the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) for the discipline and motivation of the D’Tigress,” the statement added.
