Cardinal Arinze, others eulogise Obi

Dominican College, one of the most famous institutions of learning belonging to the Catholic Church and managed by Dominican Sisters, held its graduation ceremony at the weekend.

At the mass marking the beginning of the event, Francis Cardinal Arinze said the society must work with the church to give effective education to the society to restore core values.

The cleric said education without direction was like a sentence without a verb.

He hailed former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi for giving direction to education in the state by returning former mission schools to the owners and the massive investments his government made in men and school infrastructure.

Arinze urged others to emulate Obi’s foresightedness.

The school’s head teacher Rev. Sr. Sadafe Mary Elizabeth said nothing would erase Obi’s achievements on education.

According to her, the best thing others should do is to follow Obi’s footsteps.

Confirming that all schools in Anambra State benefitted from the Obi administration, Sister Sadafe said it was through his intervention that Spring Bank, now Heritage Bank, built a hostel for them, besides giving them computers, generator, Internet connectivity, among others, the school received from him.

The chairman of the occasion, Price Emeka Udodieme, prayed that God would continue to endow Nigeria with a leader like Obi, who was out the serve the people selflessly.
