Redeemed church ordains 8,000

Over 8,150 deacon and deaconess were ordained at the 64th annual convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Old Arena, Redemption Camp, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The programme, tagged: Amen, brought together thousands of Christians.

It features prayer, song rendition, drama, seminar, business class, health talk, Bible teachings and prophetic ministrations.

The programme started with the ministers’ conference last Thursday and ended on Sunday.

Fifteen babies, comprising 11 boys and four girls, have been born since last Thursday.

Four senior pastors were promoted to special advisers to the general overseer.

They include the former Regional Evangelist (Osun State), Pastor J. T Kalejaiye, now special adviser on Evangelism and Provincial Pastor (England) and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Brunnel Nigeria Limited, Pastor Brown Oyitso, now special adviser to the General Overseer on Missions.

The Founder of Doulos Ministries, Pastor Charles Achonwa, advised the new deacons and deaconesses to be prayerful and stay close to the word to be effective in evangelism.

He said: “God’s promises cannot fail. His promises are sure. When we remember that the world is created by God’s spoken word, then you will know that His word is very powerful. Stay close to His word and you will never be put to shame.”
