CAF jacks up AFCON prize money to $7m

    · Super Eagles to get owed allowances

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a 40 per cent increase in the prize money for the Winner of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Côte d’Ivoire 2023.

CAF said on its official website that the winner of the TotalEnergies AFCON will receive seven million dollars.

It said the runner-up will now get 4 million dollars while each of the two Semi-finalists will receive 2.5 million dollars and each of the four Quarter-finalists will get 1. 3 million dollars.

The President of CAF, Patrice Motsepe said: “CAF has made significant progress over the past two years in increasing the prize money of the AFCON and all its other major competitions.

“We have increased the prize money of the AFCON Winner to seven million dollars which is a 40 per cent increase from the previous prize money.

“I am confident that a portion of the prize money will contribute to developing football and also benefit all the football stakeholders, as well as assist our member associations with their administrations, ”he said.

In a related development, NFF will reportedly deliver a massive cash boost for the Super Eagles by clearing all bonuses and allowances of the team’s 26 matches that have been outstanding since 2021.

These bonuses and allowances date back over three years covering 2022 World Cup and 2023 AFCON qualifiers and include a long list of friendly matches involving the Super Eagles.

A top sports ministry official informed SCORENigeria that these outstanding payments were covered in the budget approved by the Federal Government for the forthcoming AFCON.

“All the bonuses and allowances pending for the team will now be cleared after this budget approval,” he reportedly said.“This will be a big incentive for the team leading up to the AFCON.”

The Super Eagles bonuses and allowances at the 2023 AFCON are guaranteed on account of this budget approval.

The 2023 AFCON will kick off on Jan. 13 to Feb. 11 in Cote d’ Ivoire with 24 nations participating.

AFCON 2023: Ipaye tips Super Eagles to shock critics

Former Nigeria international Wasiu Ipaye said the Super Eagles may surprise fans by performing well at the 2023 Côte d’Ivoire Africa Nation’s Cup (AFCON) despite shades of doubts by some fans.

Ipaye, a former defensive midfielder, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

The former First Bank Football Club player said the exclusion of home based players showed that the handlers of the team did not rate the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) highly.

“With few days to go, I want to be positive. The boys need the encouragement. In spite of the not so impressive list of selected players I hope we’d all be surprised in a good way.

“Personally, I feel the exclusion of home based players may be a de-service. Some of the foreign based players are not even playing in the first division leagues. We place so much emphasis on foreign based players.

“Look at Egypt, Morocco and Algeria, majority of their players are home based. It’s the way you make your bed that you lie on it. I know the coach has the final say.

“Look at what Clement Westerhof was able to do with the team. He made it a point of duty to watch our domestic league matches and selected the best talents.

“Dismissing our home based players is detrimental to the development of football in Nigeria,” he said.

The Super Eagles, now in Abu Dhabi for a one-week training camp, will later proceed to Abidjan where they will face Equatorial Guinea in the opening Group A match on Jan. 14, and later Côte d’Ivoire, and Guinea-Bissau.

Super Eagles, three-time champions of the tournament: 1980, 1994, and 2013, hope to win the trophy for the fourth time when the tournament kicks off in January.

  • Osimhen can lead Eagles to AFCON glory, says Ugbade

Osimhen can lead Eagles to AFCON glory, says Ugbade

Foremost FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning captain, Nduka Ugbade, was partly a member of the famous Nigeria’s soccer ‘Golden Generation’ that bowled over the continent in the 1990s with their immense football talents that saw them winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at Tunisia 1994.

Recalling one of Nigeria’s AFCON glorious moments, Ugbade surmised that Victor Osimhen can be the Super Eagles’ talisman at the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, adding that the Napoli striker can emulate the legend of the late Rashidi Yekini who led the country to glory in 1994 as an African Footballer of the Year.

“Of course, I remember that we went to the AFCON in Tunisia with Rashidi Yekini as the African Footballer of the Year and that really helped the Super Eagles,” the erstwhile El Kanemi Warriors and Castellon defender told NationSports. “I think the Super Eagles have been blessed again going to this AFCON with Victor Osimhen as the African Footballer of the Year.

“Of course, this can be an added pressure on Osimhen. The whole world would want to see his capabilities and Nigerians would want to see him replicate what he did with Napoli for the Super Eagles. He has always been doing well for Nigeria, too, from the qualifiers and I pray he does well at the AFCON too,“ he added..

Ugbade, who was also part of the Super Eagles’ squad that won the bronze medal when Senegal played host to the AFCON in 1992, noted that that winning the continent’s most-prized trophy is not for the faint hearted.

Now guaranteed of $7 million USD as prize money, the delayed AFCON 2023 will kick off on January 13 and through February as 24 of the continent’s best teams gathered in Cote d’Ivoire for the gong and glory.

Ugbade reckoned that the Super Eagles already have their work cut out in January after being grouped with Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea Bissau and Equatorial Guinea at the forthcoming tournament but insisted the country has a rich pedigree to be counted among the favourites.

“As a big team on the continent, no one is going to expect that Nigeria will get out of the competition easily in the first round or in the second round and I believe if we can scale the hurdles and reach the semi-finals, anything is possible and we can win it,” Ugbade continued. “Nigeria has the capacity to do anything whatsoever but the issue is, can this be recognised as something that we know that we are capable of doing?

Read Also: Oil theft: Tinubu receives two Hi-Tech unmanned vessels from US

“Is there the willingness and the passion to accomplish it at all costs? This will start from the administration, you know, to the type of motivation that is given, and the type of preparation that the team would have.

“At the end of the day, you can’t blame the administration for not supporting you. Then you will have to hold yourself responsible if you do not deliver. So this is the key.

We are capable of achieving anything whatsoever, but everything needed to accomplish this achievement must be done for Nigeria to be African champions in Cote d’Ivoire,” Ugbade added, as he speaks on other sundry issues.

From China 1985 with Golden Eaglets to Tunisia 1994 with Super Eagles

The two moments, captaining the FIFA U-16 World Cup-winning team at China in 1985 and being part of the team that won the AFCON for Nigeria for the second time in history, were great moments that I will cherish forever. Talking about my footballing career, then I would again love to relive such moments. Because they were the two foremost moments that were great things in my entire football career. Then apart from these two notable achievements, I will also add the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup that we all did with Manu Garba even with yourself as the team media officer. That was also an unforgettable memory that we won the FIFA U17 World Cup with the Kelechi Iheanacho’s set. And at the beginning, we had a lot of great players in the team that included the likes of Wilfred Ndidi and all the rest. Very awesome moments in my footballing career that I cherish so much till this very moment that I’m talking to you.

Super Eagles’ close miss at Senegal 1992 AFCON

The issue was that we had a very, very strong and formidable team. You know, with the likes of Rashidi Yekini, Stephen Keshi and the rest in the team. But I cannot actually pinpoint that this was what was responsible for our not winning the trophy at Senegal 1992.

But there were some major political factors. There was the Abedi Pele’s Ghana and then some of the Ivorian players too. I think the people would want them to at least achieve something. That took the issue of Nigeria against Ghana off the thing. So that at the end of the day, we were out of the final competition after we lost 2-1 to Ghana in the semi-finals. We were supposed to be, yes, in the finals but for what happened against Ghana. There’s nothing one can do about it now other than to relive some of the good moments of the past years.

    Difficulties of winning the AFCON

Of course, it’s an extremely difficult competition to win and I think you know it. You can’t go to the African Cup of Nations with a bunch of 11 friends or 23 colleagues that are friends. You must go remembering that you have some solid weapons and that you have practiced very, very well. And you must have a very formidable team. A team that is technically sound and can navigate their way through tough moments. Victory counts right from the qualifying group stages when you have four teams and you must first and foremost qualify for the second stage, which is the knockout leading to the final.

    Super Eagles at AFCON 2023

This Cup of Nations in January will also be difficult but the Super Eagles can still win it. For a start, the Super Eagles are in the same group with the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire. And you know, this is a very, very strong team. We have the Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea as well. Winning our first match against Equatorial Guinea will be very important and then we can build on that for the next two games against Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea Bissau. But if we say the AFCON is difficult to win, we are not talking only about the qualifying group stage. You have to be ready to play with the likes of Morocco. You have to be ready to play with the likes of Cameroon. You have to be ready to meet up the likes of Zambia. You have to be ready to meet up the likes of Algeria and the rest. These countries are very strong. They’re very strong.

Between 1994 and 2023 Super Eagles

Frankly, I don’t like comparing teams from different generations because they are teams out of different circumstances. For instance, you can’t be comparing the 1994 set with the current team for different reasons. In terms of physique, the 1994 team had players with big body mass (laughter) while this set is younger and fresh; but let us leave this comparison.

I think we have a good team going to the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire. As a nation, Nigeria is one country that every other person is expecting to do well at the AFCON and in any football competition for that matter. This is good for the mental psyche of the players. There is also something I would like to say and I know this is also important. Over the years, Nigerian teams tend to do well and surpass expectations especially when situations are tense and with a lot of criticisms and I can see that most people are not giving the Super Eagles a chance to win in Cote d’Ivoire but I pray this works positively for the team.

    Ahead of 2023 AFCON

Football has its psychology, sociology and all those mental things .So this is what my thoughts are – that we must do well at the AFCON so that we start the year on a high. Then we start to build on that with other national teams because once the Super Eagles win in Cote d’Ivoire, it would rub off on all other national football teams or even our sports in general. So the Super Eagles should be clearly motivated as well so that there won’t be any excuse. I’m happy with what the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, is trying to do. No matter what the situation is, if they say that there’s no money, he tries to grind out something to ensure that the players are happy and I know with the right approach and motivation, the Super Eagles can do well in Cote d’Ivoire.

  • Goalkeeper Nwabali wants to make history with Super Eagles

Goalkeeper Nwabali wants to make history with Super Eagles

For a country known for producing a long line of legendary goalkeepers, Nigeria’s prowess in that department can surely not be undermined.

However, in recent times the country has been in the wilderness as it continues what could be termed a futile search for reliable goalkeepers in the mould of Peter Rufai, Vincent Enyeama, Emmanuel Okala and other outstanding shot stoppers that have graced Nigeria’s goalposts in bygone years.

Only last month, this thorny issue came to the fore yet again as Super Eagles kicked off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with unconvincing, if not shocking score draws against minnows Lesotho and Southern African rivals Zimbabwe. Besides these ‘unbelievable’ results, what Nigerians found most annoying was the “shoddy” performance of current number one goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho.

His overall showing in both matches left much to be desired, particularly against Zimbabwe in Rwanda where he let in a seemingly harmless free kick from 45 yards out.

As enraged fans and other stakeholders made their feeling known, Super Eagles boss, Jose Peseiro knew he had to make a quick move to fix this gaping loophole in his last line of defence. The Africa Cup of Nations is only weeks away and the pressure keeps mounting. So he booked the next available flight to Port Elizabeth, South Africa, the current home of Chippa United’s Nigerian goalkeeper, Stanley Bobo Nwabali.

Peseiro’s meeting with the goalkeeper centred on a recall to the national team specifically for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire only weeks away.

Some analysts see the Rivers State-born shot stopper as the next big thing to happen to Nigerian football as he teams up with other goalkeepers including the under-fire Uzoho in Nigeria’s list of 25 players ahead of January’s Africa Cup of Nations fiesta in Cote d’Ivoire.

An imposing figure at well over six foot four inches tall, Nwabali commands his area with ease and composure while scaring opposing strikers with his huge physical presence, and in spite of a shaky start, his input for the Chilli Boys in the South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL), have been nothing else but inspiring.

After managing seven clean sheets in 13 Premier Soccer League games in the current season, Nwabali, who began his career as an outfield player, seems to be enjoying some sort of consistency in terms of performances leading to interest from one of South Africa’s leading club sides, Kaizer Chiefs.

Most importantly, he has established himself as a regular starter after struggling for game time in his debut 2022/23 season where he featured in only nine games across all competitions.

Prior to his trip to South Africa, Peseiro had put a call through to the former Katsina United shot-stopper, informing him of his mission.

“I was stunned to receive this call from Super Eagles Head Coach,” the 27-year-old recalled. “I suddenly felt goose bumps on my skin, and pinched myself to know if this was actually happening.

“Well, I give God the glory for the recognition, and believe me, it’s a divine call to service,” he added.

With only a few weeks to the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cote d’Ivoire, the Chippa United safe hands in a revealing interview with Johannesburg-based African football expert, MARK OGAGAN, highlights his professional aspirations, international dreams and more.

When you got a call from Super Eagles Head Coach, Jose Peseiro , that he was coming to visit you in Port Elizabeth, were you surprised?

To be honest, I was stunned beyond words, as I already knew his reason. I have to give thanks to God because I was not even part of the qualifiers for the AFCON, and here I am being offered a spot in the tournament squad. The call up, for me, is a thing of joy and excitement considering the prospect of teaming up with this amazing group of Super Eagles players. Nigeria is my country and proud to be considered worthy of a call up.

Nigeria’s current number one goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho came under heavy criticism for his “not too impressive” showings of late, and now you’ve been called up to the team. What’s your take on that?

I’ve been following the whole drama that trailed our first two World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, and in my opinion, Francis Uzoho does not deserve all the flak. Football can be very unpredictable sometimes, making you wonder if you were the same player who performed brilliantly in previous matches. Even the best goalkeepers in the world do have bad days too.

About my call up, let me say it’s a divine call to service. I’d been working very hard at my game and never thought the recognition would come so soon. Going to the AFCON, for me, is a big step in my career. Together with other goalkeepers in the squad, we shall work hard together to uplift our nation.

You are not entirely new to the Super Eagles set up. Tell us about your international debut in the United States three years ago.

It was more like a second string Super Eagles team; we took on Mexico and lost 4-0, but to me it was a valuable experience because it encouraged me to work harder and build on my game. As always, my philosophy is to keep pushing and spring surprises when no gives you a chance.

Are you familiar with any player(s) in the current Super Eagles team?

No, I am not, but hopefully I will make lots of friends as we head to Cote d’Ivoire…I am super excited.

With days to the tournament, how realistic is Nigeria’s chances of making an impact?

I need to say this…taking one game at a time is the way to go. No one gave Nigeria a chance when they played here (South Africa) in 2013, but the rest is history. Nigeria remains one of the top teams on the continent, and if we keep our winning mentality, there’s no reason why we can’t go all the way.

While blossoming as a professional goalkeeper, who were your role models?

No one really: I looked up to myself, challenged myself to do better. At my local side Go Round FC, I started out as a defender, and then played in attack until I became goalkeeper.

How supportive has your family been in your professional journey thus far?

I come from an average family who have been very supportive as I’m the only soccer player in our family.

You’re some sort of football’s journeyman having played for no less than six clubs in Nigeria before sealing your South African deal. What does that suggest?

Well in football you never know where your star will shine eventually, so it’s possible to play one team per season before making your name. Playing for several teams in Nigeria helped to sharpen my skills under different coaches and varied tactical formations.

You joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022; how was your transition from Nigeria’s NPFL to the highly competitive South African Premier Soccer League (PSL)?

To be frank, it was difficult adjusting to the different pace, tactics, weather and new teammates; hence I conceded goals in my first few outings. The high standard of the PSL was not easy for me, but I learned fast.

QUICK FACTS ON NWABALI: Nwabali who is an origin of Onelga/Okwuzi LGA in Rivers State, Nwabali earned his first cap for Super Eagles B team in an international friendly against Mexico in the United States in 2020.

WHAT ARE THEY SAYING ABOUT NWABALI

Williams Okpara (Ex- Super Eagles and Orlando Pirates legend):“ I think his biggest assets are his composure, quick reflexes and ball distribution. He has continued from where some of us stopped. When I watched one of his matches for Chippa United I was amazed how quickly he has improved, because at the beginning he was shaky while trying to adapt to his new environment. Having a goalkeeper of his calibre is an advantage to the Super Eagles, though one could argue that he hasn’t got the experience to start at such a big tournament like AFCON. However, I see him as a boy with a big heart…he’ll go places.”

Greg Etafia (Ex- Moroka Swallows and Super Eagles):“ Nwabali has been a revelation here, because the PSL is not an easy league. In my opinion, his call up to the national team is long overdue. However, I foresee very stiff competition with the other goalkeepers, but hey, Nigeria benefits from that in the end. I wish him all the best at the AFCON.”

  • AFCON 2023: Stage set for Yusuf to shine for Super Eagles

AFCON 2023: Stage set for Yusuf to shine for Super Eagles

Alhassan Yusuf has been on the fringes of the Super Eagles setup for some time but has not yet being capped. With the injury-enforced absence of Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi at the 2023 AFCON which begins next week in Cote d’Ivoire, the time has come for the Royal Antwerp star midfielder to finally stake his claims in Super Eagles, OLUWAMAYOMIKUN OREKOYA writes.

The stage is set for Alhassan Yusuf to finally stake a claim in the Nigeria national team. Despite sterling performances as a midfield mainstay for Belgian Champions Royal Antwerp since his move from Sweden in 2021, the Kano state-born versatile midfielder has constantly being overlooked by the Super Eagles handlers, until now.

The 23-year-old has been called up to replace the injured Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi as the Super Eagles put in finishing touches for the preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Cote d’Ivoire.

Because of his impressive passing ability, stamina and diminutive structure, Alhassan has been likened to the French superstar N’Golo Kante and his impressive performances in the heart of the midfield steered The Reds to a brilliant domestic treble last year.

This season, Alhassan has featured in majority of Royal Antwerp’s First Division A matches, making 15 appearances overall and accumulating over 700 minutes of playing time. He has been selected in the starting 11 in seven of these appearances across their 20 fixtures and been used as a substitute on a further eight occasions.

He also played a role in every game of Antwerp’s disastrous Champion’s League campaign, starting four games and coming in a substitute in two. He also has a goal and an assist to his name in Europe’s elite football competition.

Prior to joining Antwerp in July 2021, Yusuf made 66 league appearances in total at IFK Göteborg, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

Alhassan started his football journey with FC Hearts when he was still a junior in secondary school and credits the Kano-based grassroot football side for instilling in him everything he knew to become the professional footballer he is today, although, unlike many of his peers from Kano who went to play a part in the National U-17 set-up, Alhassan was never spotted by the Golden Eaglets handlers.

“I joined FC Hearts when I was in junior secondary school with very little knowledge about football so basically that where I got to know everything about professional football,” Alhassan told NationSport in a previous interview.

Speaking on why he was never invited to the Golden Eaglets camp, Alhassan said: “Honestly, I am not going give excuses. Probably at that time I was not the kind of player they needed at that moment.”

While still with FC Hearts, Alhassan was spotted by the Tiki Taka Development Group, a Sweden-based academy with a grassroot setup in Nigeria with the aim to provide coaching infrastructure for young Nigerians to forge a career in European football.

It was at the Tiki Taka setup that Alhassan got his first taste of football in Europe, the Gothia Cup, one of Europe’s most prestigious youth tournaments which is considered to be the biggest in the world in terms of participating teams and boasts of illustrious alumni like Xabi Alonso, Andrea Pirlo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alan Shearer amongst others.

Alhassan Yusuf can include himself amongst the Cup’s alumni, representing the Tiki Taka Academy twice in the competition and it was in the 2017 edition that Alhassan caught the eyes of IFK Göteborg despite being on the losing side in the final.

IFK’s sporting director at the time Olle Sultan had been briefed on a young talent playing in the tournament, and upon watching the then 17- year-old Yusuf, offered him a trial.

Yusuf’s time with Tiki Taka had come to a fulfilling conclusion. With the teenage midfielder moving to Sweden the following year, Tiki Taka had imprinted itself on his footballing and personal development.

“Tiki Taka played a big role in changing my mentality as a player in the way that I could adapt to European way of playing faster and easier.” Yusuf recalled in an interview with First Time Finish.

Like many young footballers coming to the much colder regions of Europe for the first time, Alhassan found his first foray to Sweden very difficult but credits his new teammates for making his stay in the Scandinavian country easy to adapt. He added that his never-say-die mind-set prepared him for the challenges ahead.

“It was difficult because it was my first professional club and also my first time leaving home but my teammates made it really easy for me to adapt really quick

“I was able to cope because for me it was about mind set, I just put it in my mind that I can do it no matter the circumstances.”

Away from football, Alhassan revealed to NationSport that he came from a very large family with many brothers and sisters. Like majority of Nigerians, football was his first passion for him and most of the males in his family and he spent his time shuttling between school and the football pitch.

“Growing up in Kano was nice, there were a lot of people around, I come from a very big family with many brothers and sisters,” he said.

“Almost all the boys in our family played football but it’s only two of us that actually made it to professional level.

“Basically growing up was just school and football, nothing more.”

“The Minister briefed the President that part of the facilities he inspected while in the US included rapid deployment mobile RADAR system, unmanned water vehicle, drone ground control station, and compact biometric search-scan system, among others.”

    • Anti-graft agency rejects three weeks’ extension request by Sadiya Umar-Farouq

Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, must appear at the Abuja headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for interrogation, the agency has said.

The minister, who cited health challenges, approached the anti-graft agency through her counsel, requesting that the deadline be extended by three weeks.

But the Commission yesterday asked her to appear before its team within three days for interrogation.

The ex-minister was invited over the alleged laundering of N37, 170,855,753.44 in her ministry during her tenure through a contractor, James Okwete.

Although the ex-minister has denied having any link with the implicated contractor, the anti-graft commission insisted that she should come for questioning.

The one-time minister formally wrote to the Executive Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, that she was indisposed.

A source said: “In her letter, she asked the EFCC to give her three weeks to attend to her health before honouring the commission’s investigation. The letter was delivered by her counsel on Wednesday.

“But the EFCC said it cannot delay the investigation for three weeks. It has given the ex-minister three days to appear or risk being declared wanted.

“Olukoyede has put a new system in place such that you can appear before EFCC detectives and sleep in your home the same day. There is no need to panic at all.

“We are expecting her; our team is on standby. Even if she requires medical help, we will avail her of our first-class facility.”

EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale said: “We got a letter from the ex-minister that she could not honour our invitation due to some health challenges.

“Since her lawyer brought the letter, the EFCC has also responded accordingly.”

The EFCC letter to the ex-minister reads: “The commission is investigating a case of money laundering involving the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development during your time as minister.

“In view of the above, you are requested to kindly report for an interview with the undersigned scheduled as follows: Wednesday, 3rd of January, 2024. Time: 10am.

“This request is made pursuant to Section 38 (I) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004 & Section 21 of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011.”

Oyewale, who spoke on the matter when he was featured on television, said the agency has directed her to honour the invitation without further delay.

He said: “It is true that she didn’t show up, but she sent a letter pleading for more time, explaining that she had some health challenges.

“She didn’t shun EFCC’s invitation. She actually gave reasons why she couldn’t meet up.

“Her lawyer was also at the commission to brief the anti-graft agency on why she couldn’t come or honour the invitation.”

The EFCC spokesman also explained that the N37.1 billion being mentioned might not be the correct amount misappropriated by the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry.

He said: “On the figure that is being bandied about, I cannot categorically confirm the figure because it is an ongoing thing.

“We are still tracing all the transactions here and there. It may be more than that.

“We can’t publish a figure now until we finish the tracking and it may be more than what is being brandished now.”

Oyewale said that the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), Halima Shehu, has been released after interrogation.

He added: “She was the National Coordinator in charge of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme under the Ministry during Buhari’s tenure.

“She has been queried over some of the money that left the ministry’s coffers through her.”
