  • I’m not responsible for Nengi’s pregnancy –  Governor Diri

I’m not responsible for Nengi’s pregnancy –  Governor Diri

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has dismissed social media rumors alleging that he fathered a child with Big Brother Naija star, Nengi Hampson.

The speculation, which recently gained traction online, claimed that Nengi had given birth to the governor’s child, with some reports even suggesting he has four wives.

However, Governor Diri has categorically denied the claims, describing them as baseless and unfounded.

Nengi herself had taken to her X handle to debunk the claims, stating, “As much as I believe social media lies aren’t worth my time, I’ve come to accept that we live in a world where people are quick to spread lies without limits so let me be clear, I’m not pregnant for any Governor.

I’ve chosen to speak coz this isn’t just an attack on me, it involves people I hold in the highest regard, and I won’t allow a beautiful, personal part of my life be turned into something ugly.

While I continue to mind my own business and enjoy my pregnancy in PEACE, I wish y’all Love and a happy Valentine’s weekend”.

The governor’s Director-General on New Media, Samuel Kolawole Oredipe, attributed the rumors to the governor’s political enemies, stating that they are “spreading falsehood” to distract from the governor’s accomplishments.

He wrote: “Political enemies of His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, are at work again. What a wicked set of people spreading falsehood on a day the Prosperity Administration commenced activities marking its 5th anniversary.

“Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with the governor. Nengi has come out on social media to debunk the lies. This is a distraction, and some of us are very justified in the many reasons offered to regulate the use of various social media.”

  • Lara George calls out churches for underpaying local gospel artists

Lara George calls out churches for underpaying local gospel artists

US-based gospel singer, Lara George, has criticized some churches for their alleged hypocrisy in compensating gospel artists, highlighting how local musicians are often unpaid while foreign artists receive substantial fees.

In a social media post, George questioned why churches willingly pay large sums to invite international gospel stars but refuse to fairly compensate local talents.

She also challenged her followers to consider how they would feel if they learned their favourite international gospel artist charged $100,000 per church performance.

George also raised concerns about the extravagant lifestyles of some pastors, questioning whether their wealth stems from personal ventures like book and CD sales or from congregational tithes and offerings.

She wrote on Instagram: “If you found out that your favorite non-Naija Gospel artiste charges $100k USD to sing songs of praise and worship, would they appear less spiritual to you because they do so? Or did you all think that they sing for free?

“If you discovered that many of your favorite ‘pulpit persons’ who act as though paying the Naija artiste is an unthinkable thing, are actually paying the non-Naija artiste those so-called ‘high sums of money’, would your view of the ‘pulpit person’ change?

“Have you ever asked whether it is the ‘pulpit-person’s’ tapes and cds that are affording them the lavish lifestyles they live with private jets here and there? Or is that lifestyle from tithes and offerings????

“A Gospel artiste is indeed a professional. A professional artiste. Is there such a thing as a professional pastor?

“Dear ‘pastor’, What’s your source of livelihood exactly? If we stop the tithes and offerings, will that ministry also retire??? I can’t stand either bullies or hypocrisy!

In a video, Kadiri expressed concern for individuals with small social circles who might feel inadequate when seeing weddings with large entourages.

She questioned why intimate weddings with fewer friends are rarely showcased, suggesting that sharing such moments could offer reassurance to those feeling anxious about their own guest lists.

Kadiri emphasized the importance of normalizing simple, close-knit celebrations, allowing couples to focus on their special day without societal pressure.

She said: “What I want to talk about are weddings. Am I the only one who sometimes see wedding pictures, how the bride sits with 15-20 of her friends and have a panic attack? What happens to those girls who are not usually friendly people. They just live their lives on their own. They don’t have friends. Sometimes they don’t have family, how do they cope? Are you also dealing with the same type of anxiety that I deal with on your behalf?

“The fear of who is going to attend my wedding. I mean why can’t we also see pictures of people who get married truly without friends and the pictures are cute so they can give hope. Do you know some people have never had parties because they’re afraid people are not going to come, and they also genuinely not have friends.”

The irony is it’s a blessing wrapped in thorns, those who lack these basic qualities can be incredibly frustrating. You will be getting embarrassed on behalf of people who don’t even know/send you.

The influencer revealed that he earns substantial amounts from his live sessions, citing an instance where he made $10,000 in one session.

On average, Peller says he goes live three times a week and earns around $3,000 per 30-minute session.

“I could have a live session and talk for a while and at the end of it, I could have $3000 for 30 minutes. I don’t do live sessions every day because you don’t want people to see your face too much. I only go live three times a week and I once made 10,000 dollars from one live session because I did big numbers and I was very surprised. I used to see $7000, $8000 so when I saw $10,000 I was surprised. TikTok takes a percentage though but in a week I make 20 million Naira on an average”, he said.
