    IB Quake celebrates graduation from UNILAG 

    Spoken word artist, IB Quake, has graduated with a 4.28 CGPA in Mass communication from University of Lagos.

    IB Quake reflected on her journey, which began in 2018, acknowledging the challenges she faced, including the ASUU strike and the COVID-19 pandemic. 

    Despite these obstacles, she revealed how she successfully balanced her studies with her passion for spoken word artistry.

    In her celebratory post, IB Quake humorously described herself as a superhero, juggling her responsibilities by day and night. 

    She expressed gratitude to God, family, and friends for their support throughout her academic journey.

    She wrote on Instagram: “B.Sc Hons Mass Communication. Graduating with a 4.28 and tbh? that’s a first class in my books.

    “Being Ibquake and a full time student since 2018 (asuu and the pandemic)…has been a journey that I don’t want to take again but I’m glad and thankful to God, My family and friends.

    “Was having a conversation with my friends recently and one of them was reminding me how I’ll go for an event whilst having an exam the next day, I’ll come back from my event, read a bit and still sleep like a regular human being, why because (I hated the idea of overnight)

    “I was like a superhero saving the world by night and being a student both night and day. Now that all is said and done”.

    On TVC’s Your View show, Yeni Kuti stated that Ngozi has no right to condemn the ladies, questioning what she wore and did during her own youthful days.

    Yeni Kuti said that older people often forget their own past indiscretions.

    How I struggled to make it in Hollywood – Bayo Akinfemi

    Nigerian-born Hollywood actor Bayo Akinfemi has shared his journey from struggling to make ends meet to becoming a successful actor in the abroad entertainment scene.

    In a recent interview with Teju Babyface on YouTube, Akinfemi revealed that he relocated to Canada in 1998 to pursue his passion for acting.

    He enrolled in film school, juggling multiple jobs, including driving a taxi and working in construction to support himself.

    Akinfemi, who played the role of “Goodwin” in the Hollywood series “Bob Hearts Abishola,” shared that he returned to school in his 40s, attending the University of Southern California (USC) alongside students the same age as his children.

    Despite facing frustrations, doubts, and pressure to return to Nigeria, Akinfemi said he persevered, stayed focused on his dream of making it in Hollywood.

    His big break came when he started working on movie sets with notable actors like Jackie Chan and Denzel Washington.

    He said: “I went to Canada in 1998, my wife was there. We were classmates at the University of Ilorin and we had been dating since then,” he said.

    “I joined her in Canada and the first thing I did was to go to film school. I had the opportunity to really pursue my dream. After film school, I started working as a production assistant.

    “There was nothing I didn’t do while I was in film school while trying to survive. I drove a taxi at night and worked in construction. I go to school in the morning, drive taxi in the evening, on weekends to work in construction, work in painting— I did all of that.

    “There were times when I wanted to go back home. There were frustrating moments where I asked myself if this was a mistake, moments of doubt and regret. I was also getting pressured back home because Nollywood was beginning to develop and a lot of my friends were doing well.

    “I was getting calls to come back home but I said no I’m not coming back. I stayed because I began to feel closer to Hollywood and to see that my dream was actually achievable.

    “After film school, I was working on movie sets with Jackie Chan, Johnny Q when Denzel shot it in Toronto. Just being exposed to all of that made me feel like I was getting closer to this Hollywood thing.

    “Directing is what I wanted to really do, I didn’t want to be an actor anymore. I started making short films and working on all these movie sets. I eventually got an agent who tried to get me into acting and the acting thing just took off.

    “When I got to Canada in 1998, I was 29 years old. When I went to film school, I was in school with 19-year-old kids while I was in my early thirties but that was in Toronto.

    “When I moved to Los Angeles I went back to school at USC, I was in my 40s in school with kids the same age as my kids. At that point, there was no turning back.”

    US filmmaker David Lynch dies at 78

    Visionary American filmmaker, David Lynch has died at 78.

    His family shared the news on his official Facebook page, requesting privacy during this difficult time.

    “It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch,” the statement read. “We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.

    “It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way”, the statement reads.

    Lynch’s remarkable career, spanning over five decades, earned him widespread praises and numerous awards.

    He was nominated for three Best Director Oscars for his iconic films Blue Velvet, The Elephant Man, and Mulholland Drive.

    His other notable works include Eraserhead and the influential TV series Twin Peaks.

    Born in Missoula, Montana, in 1946, Lynch struggled with emphysema in his later years, but remained committed to his craft.

    He is survived by two daughters and two sons from his four marriages.

    Actress and producer Mo Bimpe has lauded seasoned actress Bimbo Akintola, who played the role of Lisabi’s mother in her movie LISABI.

    Mo Bimpe revealed that Bimbo Akintola saved the day by accepting the role at the last minute, after the initial actress cancelled on them.

    Bimpe said despite her tight schedule, Bimbo Akintola travelled to Oyo, underwent training, and completed her scenes within 12 hours, before catching a flight to the US.

    She expressed gratitude to Akintola for saving the day and delivering a flawless performance despite the challenging circumstances.

    She praised Akintola’s professionalism, dedication, and kindness, and thanked her for making the film special.

    Mo Bimpe wrote: “I’ll be talking about LISABI’s mother- The legendary BIMBO AKINTOLA.

    “The role was originally for someone very dear to me but at the last minute, she cancelled on me.
    I was devastated. This wasn’t just any role. For me,it was the most crucial part of the film and I had personally casted my fav for this role, “How do I get another perfect actor in such a short time”?. An A list actor who will bring our vision to life in some hours felt impossible. At that moment, I just went somewhere, broke down and cried my eyes out!

    “My husband, however, refused to give up. He placed a call through on the spot after deep thinking to Aunty Bimbo. She wasn’t available, she was to travel out of the country the next day! but when she heard the story and how tight we were, she said YES! She made a trip down to Oyo, had her training and took her scenes all under 12 hours so she could make it back to Lagos to catch her flight to the US. She made a promise and she fulfilled her promise!

    “I’ve seen some reviews that we didn’t dive deep into Lisabi’s mother, but you all didn’t realize how tough it was, we even had to cut out some intended scenes, It was literally one of the most hectic day on set for all of us! We were on our feet all day! but thankfully, Mama didn’t just deliver, she gave everything, a special delivery! Truly flawless! As you all can see!

    “Here’s me saying thank you my woman @bimboakintola for making this film even more special! You will call one and ten will answer. We are truly grateful! May God bring you helpers from where you least expect because you came through for us at our lowest! I have been your fan since I was a child and glad to finally work with you on my own project Ma.

    Singer Spyro has claimed Davido indeed owns multiple mansions on Banana Island, contrary to Burna Boy’s subtle shade implying otherwise.

    ‘The Who’s Your Guy’ hitmaker made this statement in a recent interview on the Echo Room podcast

    According to Spyro, Davido has not only one but several houses on the island and recently moved into a new mansion from a previous one.

    “Davido doesn’t own just one house in Banana Island. In fact, he has moved from his previous house to another one,” Spyro said.

    Actress Mo Bimpe has written a glowing tribute to colleague and friend, Ibrahim Yekini Bakare, popularly known as Itele or Itele D Icon.

    She appreciated  Itele’s dedication, hard work, and support during the production of the movie LISABI.

    Mo Bimpe, on Instagram, praised Itele’s portrayal of SALAKO, a loyalist and courageous EGBA farmer, describing his performance as “beyond applaudable.”

    She also commended his commitment to the project, noting that he arrived at the training camp before her and her husband, and remained dedicated throughout the 40-day production period.

    The actress further highlighted Itele’s multifaceted talents, citing his involvement in various aspects of the production, including training coordination, dialogue coaching, and costuming.

    She also appreciated his support and encouragement, revealing that he helped her with the Egba language and was a shoulder to cry on during challenging moments on set.

    She described him as her first friend in the industry and a “bestie”, while also expressed her gratitude for his presence and support in LISABI, emphasising the importance of surrounding oneself with genuine and like-minded individuals who share one’s vision.

    “SALAKO is one of LISABI’s loyalists and a courageous EGBA farmer! And @iteledicon01 isn’t just a friend in LISABI the movie, he’s a real one in real life too! The way he embraced his role and absolutely nailed it, was I surprised ? NO! Because he always deliver!

    “Now, let’s talk about how genuine and supportive he is! Itele arrived at Oyo(training camp) even before my husband and I, ready to give his all, before training, throughout training, during the shoot, and he stayed with us until we finally shouted ‘It’s a wrap!’ That’s over 40 days of dedication and hard work! He was active in all departments! The training coordinator, a dialogue coach, assistant producer, costuming, music coach, literally everywhere to just ensure the success of this project! He stood by me, supported me,and also helped me with the Egba language. He is truly an amazing soul! Even when there were challenges on set, Itele isn’t one to break down. He will always read my lines with me! I remember he even recommended some movies for me to watch for inspiration ( though I didn’t watch all of it, confession time!)     Born into the family of Late Honorable Justice S.A. Tofowomo in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, Akiin Shuga has overcome great challenges and risen above expectations.

    At the age of 5, Akiin Shuga had polio, but his physical disability never hindered his determination. He defied the odds and pursued his passion for music. Akiin Shuga is an alumnus of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where he further honed his musical skills.
