Controversial singer Portable has raised the alarm, alleging that he and his crew were harassed and beaten at an undisclosed location in Lekki.

Via his Instagram story, Portable expressed his anger and shared that his artist sustained a broken eye, from unidentified attackers in Lekki.

He claimed they were in Lekki to shop for clothes when the attack happened.

The street singer said the boys approached him during shopping claiming to be his fans while also demanding for money.

Additionally, Portable warned that he was going to exert vengeance against the attackers if they enter his area, Sango.

Ex-Big Brother Naija Housemate, Gifty Powers has announced the arrival of her third child.

The reality TV star took to her Instagram page to share pregnancy photos alongside a photo of herself and the newborn.

The mother of three, recounting her experience after the birth, revealed that there were nights she would cry while patting her son to sleep because she was proud of how far she had come.

The BBNaija star added that motherhood is challenging and filled with responsibilities, nevertheless, she loves every bit of it.

“After birth, there were nights I would cry while patting my son to sleep, WHY? Because I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

“My life journey has been a…crazy ride, but in each of all of my journeys, I’ve come to realize that, WHERE & WHO you choose today determines your tomorrow, indeed this quote is a fact.

“Motherhood is a responsibility, a challenging one at that, but I’ve loved every bit of it and I’m still loving it and wouldn’t change a thing.

“I could write a whole book about how my world turned from 60 to 360, but I still thank God for all of it.

“It’s funny how I get swollen on my face and feet ONLY when I’m pregnant. It’s easy to get caught”.

Godfirst Akpo aka  Zed1st is a 23-year old Hillcross Records signee, who strongly believes that  his record label helped him build trust in the music industry.

Zed1st, who is from Delta State and a graduate of the University of Benin, stated that he almost dropped out of school to focus on music but his mother convinced him to finish his education.

“My musical journey began from secondary school. It has not been rosy, at some point I wanted to drop out of school to face music squarely but my mother convinced me not to. I decided to get the certificate for her.

“In 100 level, I was already going to the studio back to back, attending and performing at shows. When I graduated from the University and came to Lagos to focus fully on the music business, I met a lot of fraudulent people, which almost created trust issues for me in the industry, but my team and current label has given me a different perspective.It was really crazy but thank God,” he said.

Talking about his genre of music, which he termed ‘Afro-Zee, he said it was an experimental sound.

“Afro-zee is a blend of Alte and Afro-beat born out of experiment in order to figure out my sound. It took me time to get to this level of creativity. I started Afro Zee as we love to call my style because I was born between two generations, December 1999, which is close to the 2000s. In between the millennials and the Gen Z. I am looking to build my fanbase from Gen Z.

The Afro-zee crooner stated that his single ‘Boy’ was inspired by a girl he had met who understood his moods and stuck with him.”

The living memory of the legendary Afrobeat icon, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, was awakened last weekend at Afrika Shrine with a pulsating remembrance concert that saw his grandson thrilling the audience.

Onyeabor’s inclusion in the 2023 edition of Sanremo Rock and Trend highlighted his global appeal and recognition as an influential figure in exporting Nigerian music to a global audience.

Fuji music maestro Saheed Osupa has described his life journey as a rollercoaster filled with tussle and struggle.

In a poetic message ahead of his 54th birthday, the Ibadan-born musician recounted how he began his musical career from Ajegunle to become a renowned performer.

Born on August 7, 1969 in the Mosafejo area of Ajegunle, Lagos State but grew up as a child in Ibadan, Oyo State, Osupa has risen to become a force on the Nigerian music scene.

“Trust me, that coming from a stormy start, and getting to this height, have not been easy, the unpredictability of the gravity of life has always moved the son of man through many ups and downs, with life’s pendulum surprisingly swinging from back and forth to left and right. A tortuous journey it has been, a journey that began from my hood, Ajegunle, to the world,” he began.

Continuing, he wrote, : “At one point or the other, I have been pressed on every sides by troubles, hugged tightly by the arms of tussles while I wriggled, I was wrapped roughly with the wrappers of struggles, knocked many times, and many more times I was crushed, but I never crashed, smashed but never broken, stomped on severally, yet the jazzy Jackie always danced up to these jazz musics with resurging Fuji jives.”

Though Osupa started his music career as a teenager in the midst of  faceoffs with different formidable hurdles, he never surrendered.

He said: “At some point, I was soaked in the perplexity of confusions as I didn’t understand why things got harder and turned tougher as I strive  further to thrive higher, yet I never gave up on my dream, for I know, surely, that “growth can come only after tough times and struggle,” just like the stormy rains herald the showing of the beautiful rainbow.

“Through and through these struggles, God never forsook me, He never deserted me, He never cast me off His merciful eyes, as a matter of fact, He has always turned every situation around in my favour. Indeed, it has been nothing, but a rollercoaster ride, and I cannot not fully relish these experiences without getting emotional.”

Nigerian sensational singer and songwriter Teniola ‘Teni’ Apata has been announced as Spotify’s EQUAL Africa ambassador for this month.

This recognition comes as part of Spotify’s ongoing commitment to promoting diversity and equality in the music industry and celebrating talented female artists from diverse backgrounds. 

Teni’s selection as EQUAL Africa ambassador further solidifies her position as one of Africa’s leading musical talents.

Since her arrival on the Nigerian music scene, the award winning Nigerian songwriter, singer, performer, actress and social media sensation has become one of the most sought after names in the African music sphere.

Music executive, Bankuli, has expressed his belief that Fuji music has the potential to win a Grammy award.

Bankulli made this known during a live video chat with iconic Fuji music singer, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.

“Fuji music too can collect Grammy,” Bankulli  said while promising to produce three songs for Alhaji Pasuma.

“Everything that will make it happen dey my head and I will share with you.”

He highlighted the cultural and lyrical richness of the genre saying that there’s always a message to pick from a Fuji music if properly listened to.
