    Shaffy Bello: My ex-husband was good father

    Nollywood actress and singer, Shaffy Bello has described her estranged husband as a good father figure to his children.

    The ‘Elesin Oba’ actress made this revelation in a chat with a media personality, Chude Jideonwo.

    According to her, she quit her 25-year-old marriage due to long distance.

    “He [my ex-husband] was a good father to his children,” she said.

    Continuing the 52-year-old thespian said, ‘But I got to a place where I wanted more. And I would always travel back and forth. But I knew at a point that if I really wanted this, it came with a sacrifice. It wasn’t a sacrifice of marriage, but then he was there [USA] and the distance didn’t help.”

    Shaffy grew up in the United States where she completed her education before delving into the entertainment scene. She has since been featured in several films and TV series.

    Yoruba films’ profitability is slim, says Alesh

    Nollywood actor Alesh Ola Sanni has said that the chances of making profit from movie production in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood is slim.

    The multi talented actor and producer told The Nation that the Yoruba movie market is not encouraging and as a result of that, production quality is being affected.

    “I don’t even know what to say about that because it’s not encouraging at all. The chance of making your money back is slim and the market is not encouraging at all,” Alesh said.

    On who he loves to be paired with most in a movie, Alesh singled out Gabriel Afolayan.

    “I love everybody generally but if you’re good in roles, I love to feature with so many people. But I would pick Gabriel Afolayan because he is good, he is talented and fantastic.”

    Speaking on changes he would love to see in Nollywood, the actor cum entrepreneur said,”We should just keep growing. We watch movies on Netflix and other platforms so we should do better and make everything real, it shouldn’t just be based on film tricks or just writing stories, we should make them real.”

    Actress Yvonne Jegede has reacted heatedly to a viral report alleging she held a secret wedding with her colleague, Regina Daniel’s politician husband, Ned Nwoke.

    Jegede, on her Instagram page, shared a video where a blogger made the allegation.

    According to the blogger, following her wedding to Nwoko, Yvonne deleted all of images from her page and underwent a Brazillian Butt enhancement surgery.

    A furious Jegede queried the blogger’s guts in propagating false information about her.

    She tagged the post evil and fake, cautioning against believing everything they see on social media.

    The mother of one wrote: “When many people tell you they know ‘something’ is happening or believe something has happened, you asked them how they got to know, they tell you they read or heard it from the Internet.

    “Often times, they heard it from an idiot like the person talking in this shameless and false post. How could you be this bold about falsehood? How can you lie so confidently?     In the post’s comment section, Regina Daniels burst into laughter as she hailed her senior colleague.

    She wrote: “My queen oooo”, accompanied with several laughing emojis.

    This follows some months after Yvonne Jegede recently got a surprise visit from Regina Daniels and her billionaire hubby, Ned Nwoko.

    Jegede who was on set with Gina, confessed she was stunned to see the businessman come ‘specifically’ to see her.

    The crucial phase of Nigerian Idol Season 8 will begin this weekend with the top 10 contestants slugging it out on the live show for the star prize of N100m.

     After five weeks of audition and theatre week performances, 10 of the over 200 contestants were adjudged best performers by the trio of Obi Asika, D’banj, and Simi to make the live show. 

    The season eight top 10 contestants are Savvy Henry, Constance, Goodness, Abraham, Quest, Precious Mac, Victory, Reigny, Ose Daniel, and Chisom.  Performances on the live show will be judged by the viewers who hold the power to retain and evict contestants through their votes.

     The first episode of the live show of the Nigerian Idol season 8 will take place on Sunday at 7 pm on Africa Magic Showcase, Africa Magic Urban, and Africa Magic Family channels.

    The Last Man Standing, a film detailing events that occurred in the life of President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his eight years tenure as the governor of Lagos state, will premiere in Abuja today, Friday, May 26 in Abuja.

     This is coming as politicians, entertainment stakeholders, government officials, and associates of Tinubu prepare for his inauguration as the 16 democratically elected president of Nigeria.

    Organisers of the premiere have unveiled the NAF Conference Centre and Suites on Ahmadu Bello Way, Jabi, Abuja, as venue.

     According to the filmmakers and organisers of the premiere, the venue change was necessary based on security advice, and to enable attendees to get a fully immersive viewing experience of the movie that follows the political sojourn of the soon-to-be-president while he governed Lagos State.

     It would be remembered that the premiere of ‘Last Man Standing’, which is considered by stakeholders as one of the most essential biopics made in Nigeria in the last decade, was billed to premiere at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

     With the venue change, organisers are promising attendees of an entertaining and expository experience to herald the coming of the president-elect.

    According to the film’s producer and Ultimate Communications boss, Seun Oloketuyi, the biopic follows the life of Nigeria’s president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his time as governor of Lagos.

     Speaking about the premiere, Oloketuyi said “After much deliberations, we have decided to hold the official premiere on Friday, May 26, the last weekend before Asiwaju resumes his duty as the pilot of Nigeria’s next chapter of political history. What we have had before was a private screening where Asiwaju’s close associates like former governor Bisi Akande, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Governor Dapo Abiodun passed their comments on the film. Now, we are ready to unveil to the world what we have been able to do and we believe those who watch it with an open mind will find it both educating and entertaining, as any good film should be,”

     ‘Last Man Standing’ is directed by Tunde Olaoye and features Gbenga Adeyinka, Jide Kosoko, Madam Kofo, Shushu Abubakar, Segun Arinze, Sam Olatunji and many others.

    One of Nigeria’s most decorated singers and performing artists, Innocent Ujah Idibia a.k.a 2baba, has come under fire by fans for saying men are ‘wired’ to cheat.

     2baba made this statement in the second season of the Young, Famous and African reality show which also features his wife, Annie Idibia.

     The statement seems not to go down well with fans, who have continued to drag the ‘African Queen’ star for his assertion while also maintaining that he has no respect for his wife.

     In his words, 2baba said; “Like it or not, men are wired like that. A man will love a woman to hell. But maybe he is somewhere, so he decides to have sex.”

     Idibia however became a topic on social media after his comment as the users on different platforms especially Twitter, gave their diverse opinions.

     Many of the Twitter users blamed 2Baba for disrespecting his wife and promoting the cheating culture.

     Rising in defence of her husband, Annie pleaded with the public to let her marriage be.

     “And you just want me to tell you that oh “Innocent messed up”. I don’t even know who my friend is in the group. Stop hoping and praying that something is wrong with Annie Idibia’s marriage.”
