  • Dele Odule berates youths’ misdemeanour on social media

Dele Odule berates youths’ misdemeanour on social media

Veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule has said that the constant misdemeanour of youths on social media calls for concern.

The popular film star condemned youths hurling insults at elders on social media stating that parents should be blamed for the youths’ actions.

Odule further stressed that a lack of proper parental guidance has become a major factor influencing disrespectful youths that dish out insults at elders at every and slightest provocation.

He said: “When I look at the rate the young ones of today abuse elders on social media, I feel so worried and it calls for concern. Do we say that these young ones actually lack parental guidance or do we say that the parents and the young ones we are talking about are from the same school of thought because this is an era of baby parenting.

“However, we really need to watch it. To the young ones, when one stays too long in the forest he would fight terrestrial powers. And to parents, let us be careful. I know some people will still call me out, I’ve said mine especially to the parents.”

  • Why Hilda Baci is yet to get Guinness World Records certificate

Why Hilda Baci is yet to get Guinness World Records certificate

It is no longer news that Nigerian chef Hilda Bassey Effiong aka Hilda Baci surpassed the record for the longest cooking time by an individual, with a 100-hour record time.

The Akwa Ibom native and owner of ‘My Food by Hilda’ restaurant beat Indian chef, Lata Tondon, who had completed the task in 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 secs in 2019.

Hilda began cooking on Thursday, May 11 and continued through to Monday, May 14 when she broke Tondon’s 2019 record and surpassed it to set a new record at over 100 hours.

Baci reportedly whipped up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint.

However, fans of the 27-year-old chef and several Nigerians are beginning to question why the Guinness World Record is yet to issue an official certificate to  validate her new set record.

The British reference body, on its website clearly outlined how records are set and certified.

After carrying out an official world record attempt in the presence of the independent witnesses and any other specialists, the evidence of the attempt and new record must be submitted with a cover letter and all other required documents for the Records Management Team to review the application. The process, GWR noted, can take up to 12 weeks.

The Records Management Team will have to pass the evidence after which Baci will receive an official Guinness World Records certificate.

The reference body also noted that certified adjudicators from GWR could be invited for the process, which Baci and her team didn’t do. The invitation of a certified adjudicator would have seen an immediate processing of Baci’s application and receipt of her record guidelines, and ‘in-the-moment’ verification of her record attempt success amongst other benefits.

In an official statement following Baci’s feat, the Guinness World Records team noted that officials on the records team look forward to reviewing the evidence provided and hope to be able to verify Hilda’s efforts as a new record very soon.

“She’s hoping to snap up the record title for the longest cooking marathon (individual) which currently belongs to Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hr 45 min.

“Hilda began cooking on Thursday and continued through to Monday, reportedly whipping up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint.

“Officials on our records team look forward to reviewing the evidence and hope to be able to verify Hilda’s efforts as a new record very soon.”

In 2021, Baci won the maiden edition of the Jollof Face-off Competition and pocketed a grand prize of $5,000.
