Bola Akanbi’s The Delegates makes wave

Bola Akanbi’s The Delegates is currently making waves as the 2023 general elections are set to kick off on February 25.

The film, which premiered in October 2022 at the Ebony Life Place, features some of Nollywood’s finest that include Ayo Adesanya, Okey Uzoeshi, and Michael Akpujiha.

Produced by Arch Hub Africa, The Delegates, focuses on the build-up to an election in a Regin-area school, where three pupils must convince their peers through campaigns and manifesto that one of them is the most qualified for the post.

The Delegates movie draws parallels with Nigeria’s political atmosphere by describing the mentality of a system, conditioned to bend the little will it has left to the whims of the poverty that engulfs it on a day-to-day basis.

  • Why most celebrities decline interviews, by Soso Soberekon

Why most celebrities decline interviews, by Soso Soberekon

Music executive Soso Soberekon has opened up on the reason most celebrities decline interview requests from many Nigerian journalists.

Soberekon noted that most top celebrities avoid interviews from some media houses because their packaging is below the standard which in turn affects their employees.

He further explained that the industry has grown beyond what it used to be while stating that physical appearance matters in the course of the job.

“Packaging is important in journalism, you just need to package yourself. There are ways a certain media house and its reporters package themselves that everyone wants to jump on whatever they do but the problem I have with so many other newspapers and media houses is that they don’t package their staffs. The way some journalists dress amazes me sometimes with bad shoes but some of them dress well as well,” he said.

He made this known during an Instagram live session with three entertainment journalists, Kehinde Ajose, Adeniyi Adewoyin, and Sampson Unamka.

The CEO of White Lion group also urges journalists to stop sensational journalism. According to him, distances entertainers from journalists.

  • Fela would be proud of Seun – Omokri

Fela would be proud of Seun – Omokri

Media aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan Reno Omokri has stated that late Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti would be proud of his son, Seun for his stance against the duo of PSquare.

He weighed in on the ongoing verbal sludge between Seun, the last child of the late Afrobeat king and singing twin PSquare.

Seun on Wednesday lashed Peter Okoye aka Mr P for backing Labour Party(LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi, saying he lacked the morality to advise Nigerians on who to vote for after hobnobbing with politicians.

But Mr P’s twin brother Paul said the Afrobeat legend would be ashamed of his son, who he accused of lacking any pedigree other than being the son of the popular singer.

In a tweet thread, Reno paid tributes to the Kuti lineage for all they represented and still doing while proposing that one of them should be on the country’s currency.

He said: “Wherever Fela Kuti is, if he has consciousness, he would be very proud of Seun. Never realised how deeply intelligent and aware of issues past, present and future Seun is. Very deep and quite cerebral. He obviously spent quality time absorbing from his father.

“For those who may not know, Seun Kuti is the great-grandson of Reverend Josiah Ransome-Kuti. The first Nigerian to record and release a music album. He has pedigree. Himself, his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather are and were great. May God bless them!

“If you ever attended Sunday school in Nigeria, chances are that you at least sang one of Seun Kuti’s great grandfather’s songs. Reverend Josiah Ransome-Kuti wrote e je k’omode ko wa o, and a host of other spiritual gospel songs 100 years ago. Seun Kuti has pedigree.

“Other than the Kuti family, the only other Nigerian (although I don’t subscribe to him) who has attracted goodwill and tourism to Nigeria on an industrial scale, is TB Joshua. Under normal circumstances, there should be at least one Kuti on Nigeria’s currency.”

Addressing people who criticised Big Bird for his smoking lifestyle, Omokri stated: “For those saying Seun smokes xyz, I don’t know if it is true. What I know is that it is “not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth”-Matt 15:11. Xyz can’t defile Seun. What came out of his mouth defines him and his family creditably.”

Further urging individuals to desist from rubbishing the legacy of a great family such as the Kutis’, the social commentator added: “You will never hear Jamaicans talk down Bob Marley or his family. Let us not use our hands to belittle a great Nigerian legacy family. Fela and Seun Kuti, in word, action, and money, have done much for Nigeria. They may not always be right. But they always mean well.”

My legendary father endorsed my directing skills – Yul Edochie

Popular actor Yul Edochie is over the moon as he finally earned his long-yearned-for accolades for his movie directing skills from his iconic father, Pete Edochie.

Going down memory lanes, ‘one of Africa’s greatest actors’ as he would fondly refer to himself narrated how he anticipated kicking off a career in movie directing.

He explained after directing his first movie which starred his father, he was advised by him to learn about acting before returning to directing much later in life; an advice the young actor adhered to.

A couple of years afterward, his father now finally endorsed his directing skills as they are currently on set for a soon-to-be-released movie where he was showered with accolades by his dad for his ‘very meticulous interpretation’.

Showering encomiums on his youngest son as well as his team, the thespian said: “Director, you’re very meticulous in your interpretation. And I want to congratulate you. You are working with a team that’s very cooperative. There’s so much harmony in the entire setup.

“I have been in a number of locations and it’s easy to detect dissonance and altercations in most productions. But in this case, from the moment the first scene was shot up till now, there has been no disagreement. Not even a semblance of it. And that’s an indication that there’s so much harmony in the team.

“And I want you people to keep it up! I want to congratulate you, your team, and the producer. I’m really proud working with you.”

Reacting, the fulfilled 40-year-old film director confessed hearing his legendary father finally commending his artistic prowess work and leadership skills was the hallmark of his career.

“After the movie my father said I tried though but it would be best if I go fully into acting, learn more as an actor before coming back to directing. I agreed.

“As a man who loves challenges, I took it upon myself to make a mark in Nollywood as an actor. So, I went into acting fully and established myself as one of the greatest actors in Africa.

“2023, I directed my father again in this movie THE GODFATHER and I blew him away with my artistic prowess and leadership skills. He finally gave me my accolades. I earned it.”

You demeaned your dad to prove you’re self-made, Brymo knocks Mr P

Singer Ọláwálé ‘Brymo’ Ọlọ́fọ̀ọrọ̀ has condemned his colleague Mr P for making his late dad seem insignificant while boasting about being ‘self-made’ to paint Seun Kuti less capable of being able to achieve success without his family’s influence.

Mr P and the youngest son of Fela engaged in an online verbal war, mudslinging each other over Peter’s choice of presidential candidate and his engagement in the political campaign urging people to vote for his principal.

According to Kuti, Mr P had no moral justification to do that because he had been in close affiliation with politicians and rich men creating ‘hardship’ for the masses.

But Peter Okoye, reacting to Seun shaded him, using several vituperative.

While attempting to prove his point on how much he and his twin brother have thrived to make a name for their ‘unknown’ family as well as prove Seun Kuti was nothing without his family’s name, Mr P, in a post tagged, “OnlyTalksWithNoSolution Part 4”, stated: “My late father was a nobody but today everyone knows the OKOYES!! Dude, try removing KUTI from your name make I know weda anybody sabi you!

Commenting on Peter’s tweet, Brymo wondered why he was yet to delete a post demeaning his father to prove he is a self-made star.

The sonic artist stated: “Bros .. you never delete ?..you go keep this post wey trifle your pops, just cause it reads like you are self-made and he inherited fame ?..that’s your point right ?.. this belittles yours.. this is quite self-serving, I doubt you own your successes, you belong to your sponsors?”

    I’m a good cook but don’t like cooking – BBN’s Bella

BBNaija Season 7 second runner-up, Bella Okague has addressed individuals questioning her culinary skills.

Born Chidinma Esther Okagbue, the reality TV star claimed she was a great cook but just didn’t like displaying her skills in the kitchen because it was too stressful.

Big Bella also argued that cooking can’t make a man stay with you or even keep a home.

She wondered where naysayers got the narrative from noting those who should ordinarily complain about her not cooking. Moreso, she strives to make her life easier and not stress it anymore than it could be.

She urged her critics to quit the ‘false’ narrative, arguing cooking nonetheless doesn’t keep a home.

The 25-year-old content creator said: “Any small thing, Bella can’t cook, Bella learn how to cook, Bella cooking keeps a home blah blah blah. I really don’t know where you guys got this.

“I’m a good cook that just doesn’t like cooking. As long as the people that should complain, don’t mind. Please spare me the yarns.
