Nwaanyi Ike, Dalla Dalla, Irora Iya debuts on Africa Magic

Africa Magic has added three new indigenous series to three of its channels in Nigeria. The indigenous series will premiere on Africa Magic Igbo, Africa Magic Hausa, and Africa Magic Yoruba.

‘Nwaanyi Ike,’ which launched on February 1, is a 26-episode series directed by Victor Okpala and Richard Abagana Nwosu. ‘Nwaanyi Ike’ follows the polygamous Okeke family and the drama that ensues after their father’s death. Chaos ensues in a polygamous family after the sudden death of their patriarch, as the first daughter, convinced that she is upholding her father’s legacy, wages war with her only brother and further divides the family.

‘Dalla Dalla’ premieres on February 13. The series follows yet another polygamous family, but with different circumstances. Set in the North, the story is about hunger for things beyond one’s reach. The main character, Farouk, receives a keepsake of $120,000.00 from his close friend Hamisu to keep it secret. In an unexplained turn of events, someone murders Hamisu and leaves Farouk with a windfall that no one knows about, or so it seems.

‘Irora Iya’ will premiere on March 1, 2023, and it tells the story of a teenage girl who gets pregnant after secondary school, runs away from home, and tries to abort her baby. However, the doctor, who secretly works for an infant trafficker, cajoles her into seeking refuge with the trafficker.

Speaking on the series, Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels, MultiChoice, said, “We are delighted to present our viewers with these new indigenous series. Argentina’s financial governing body is considering putting Lionel Messi’s face on the banknotes following the historic 2022 FIFA World Cup victory.

After decades of goals, dreams, and defeats, the Paris Saint-Germain superstar finally raised the trophy on December 19.

The 35-year-old forward scored a double in 120 minutes of a 3-3 draw with France in the final before his team sealed a 4-2 penalty shootout win.

They are proposing to have Messi’s face printed on a grand bill as the figure begins with the number 10, the same jersey the forward wears.

Another suggestion is to have “La Scaloneta” inscribed on the back of the note, which is the nickname of Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni.

That would honour not only his FIFA World Cup triumph but also his tenure that saw his side lift the Copa America in 2021 and beat European Champions Italy in the Finnalissima this year.

In 1978, Argentina’s Central Bank introduced commercial coins to recognise the nation’s first World Cup win.
