  • Chioma, Eze Amuchie’s wedding rocks Lagos

    There is no sound more harmonious than the jingles of wedding bells, no atmosphere more blissful than one permeated with the affection of lovers and no union more intimate than that of a man and woman in holy matrimony.

    On Saturday, April 9, 2016, friends and families of Eze Amuchie and Chioma Okonkwo witnessed the solemnisation of their holy matrimony at Our Saviour Church, Tafawa Balewa Square(TBS), Lagos. The wedding train was later moved to Landmark Events Centre, Victoria Island Extension, where a lavish reception was held.

    The groom, Eze, is the younger brother of Mr. Stanley Amuchie, the Chief Financial Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, while the bride, Chioma, is a younger sister of Chief Emma Bishop Okonkwo, OFR, the Chairman Ekulo Group of Companies Ltd.

  • Family remembers Gbegi Ojora

    Death loses its bite when a deceased person lives in the hearts of friends and family. Last Sunday marked the fifth anniversary of the passing on of one of Nigeria’s outstanding corporate models, Adegboyega Ishola Adedamola Ojora. His family members and close friends hosted a prayer session in his honour on the occasion.

    Gbegi, as he was fondly called by loved ones, died at the age of 50. He breathed his last at First Consultant Hospital, Ikoyi Road, Obalende, Lagos. Gbegi’s death came as a shock to many, as he was a lively man with an optimistic disposition. If tears and mourning could bring back the dead, Adegboyega would no doubt be brimming with life and health at the moment.

    On the eve of his death, he had taken part in the National Assembly elections. The following day, he attended the morning mass at his church and later, the christening of a friend’s child. On getting home, he complained of some discomfort and drove himself to First Consultant Hospital, Obalende, Lagos. It was while the doctors were examining him that Gbegi reportedly slumped and passed on.

    While Gbegi was said to have had a long battle with a liver-related ailment, the cause of his death, according to the hospital, was heart attack. The late Gbegi was the first son of boardroom guru, Otunba Adekunle Ojora.

When she lost her billionaire husband and Ambassador plenipotentiary, Deinde Fernandez, in September last year, she felt as if all things bright and beautiful had died with her better half. She cried for weeks, mourned for months and grieves till date over the loss of the man who meant the world to her.

    From her Belgium-base recently, the usually calm Kano-born princess came to Nigeria and was received with royal aplomb in her Kano home. The reception was overwhelming, depicting the fact that she is truly the people’s princess. Even the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, received her with warm embrace.

    Halima recently had to dash back to Belgium to face the legal proceedings concerning her late husband’s expansive estate. There has been a tussle between her and the children of her deceased husband over the said estate.

    She has finally regained her groove and she is back to being her bubbly self and take life by the lapel.

  • Molade Okoya-Thomas’ wife laid to rest

    The bond between lovers transcends the realm of the living. The saying ’till death do us part’ does not adequately capture the eternal power of love. Chief (Mrs) Olivet Abosede Okoya-Thomas proved that much with her passing away last month, barely a year after her husband and former Asoju Oba of Lagos, Chief Molade Okoya Thomas, joined his ancestors.

    It was a celebration of life well spent last week when the remains of Lady Chief Olivet Okoya Thomas, who died in Lagos early last month, was interred. The wake had taken place penultimate Wednesday at the Dorchester Event Centre. The funeral service took place at Holy Cross Cathedral Church, Lagos Island, with a reception at the Harbour Point event centre, Victoria Island. In attendance were Chief Mrs Nike Akande, Dorothy Ufot, Sunny Kuku, Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, Modupe Oguntade and many others. She is survived by her children, Yinka Taiwo and Deji Okoya-Thomas, Tosin Bakare, Hon. Jumoke Okoya -Thomas and many grandchildren.  Olivet was until her death a businesswoman. Her last outing was at the first year remembrance of her late husband in February. The deceased was the younger sister of Mrs. Leila Euphemia Apinke Fowler.

  • Larry Izamoje’s daughter set to wed

    The Lagos social scene is abuzz with the news of a wedding shindig that could shake the Centre of Excellence to its foundation. Preparations are in top gear at the residence of Brila FM boss, Larry Izamoje, as his first daughter, Phoebe, gets set to walk down the aisle with her fiancé Damilola Asolo.

    The wedding ceremony will take place at the popular Lagos Event Centre, The Lekki Coliseum, located at Lekki Phase 1‎. The event is scheduled for April 16 and will parade the crème de la crème of the Nigerian social circle. Larry Izamoje is the owner of Nigeria’s first sports radio station, Brila FM, which first hit the airwaves in 2002.

The beautiful daughter of the former president and her husband, Godswill Edward, celebrated their second wedding anniversary with friends and family in Cross River State on Tuesday.

    The couple’s friends actually threw a surprise party to celebrate their two years as partners in matrimony. The couple already has a seven months old baby girl.

    Edward took to his facebook wall on their anniversary to express his thanks to God and his stunning wife. To him, the addition of their daughter, Princess Eliana, is the greatest of all blessings and the best of all gifts.

    The Chairman of WFM 91.7 and owner of St. Ives Hospital, Dr. Babatunde Okewale, is a man of many accomplishments. The popular medical practitioner recently attained another feat with his award as Africa’s best healthcare personality of the year in reproductive medicine at the Fifth African Development Magazine International Conference on Development in Accra, Ghana.

    Okewale is being acknowledged for his impact on women and reproductive health. The awards ceremony took place at the Novotel Hotel, Accra, Ghana.

    According to those who should know, marriage is not on the card for her anytime soon in spite of claims by some of her close friends that she is under pressure from family members to remarry.
