  • What’s up with Eki Igninedion?

    What’s up with Eki Igninedion?

Like smoke, Eki Igbinedion’s pet project, Idia Renaissance, has evaporated into thin air. The non-governmental organisation by which Eki, wife of former Edo State governor Lucky Igbinedion, sought to restore hope and dignity to humanity and promote the cultural values of the people of Edo State, made history at inception. The project had received widespread adulation because it sought to tackle the twin scourge of prostitution and women trafficking which constituted major headaches to the ancient city of Benin.

But despite the remarkable reception and seeming success that attended the initiative, it has gone the way of many of its kind established by past and present first ladies. Since 2007 when her husband, Lucky Igbinedion, finished his two terms as governor with little or nothing to show for it, Eki seems to have also disappeared from the radar with her Idia Renaissance programme.

He dons the cloak of fatherhood with pride, hence he never shies away from performing his fatherly roles to his wards.

More than he monitors the growth of his business empire, Otedola monitors the progress of his daughters every step of the way, goes on vacation with them in exotic locations around the world and joins in celebrating their graduations, birthdays and other success stories.

No doubt, Otedola has done his best to make his children his source of joy and peace. • Siji Ogundele’s amazing edifice

    Siji Ogundele’s amazing edifice

Sijibomi Ogundele operates with a motto: good is never good enough where the extraordinary is expected. It is a theory that guides every one of his actions and has made him to stand out among his peers. Rather than content himself with being the best, he searches for ways to become the best by a mile.

There hardly anything usual about Sijibomi a.k.a Sujimoto’s approach to life or success. Not only is Sijibomi a major player in the construction sector, he practically dominates it.

Yet a couple of months ago, he was not an individual of any consequence. But he did not only make a grand entry into the country’s construction sector, he was also able to command the presence of the industry’s high flyers at the formal launch of Sujimoto at WheatBakers Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Last Saturday, he reached another milestone as he unveiled a 25-storey building, which currently stands as the tallest residential building in Lagos. Known as Lorenzo By Sujimoto, the building seeks to bring ancient grandeur into 21st Century architecture.

  • Endless wait for Kingsley Kuku

    Endless wait for Kingsley Kuku

The purported cowardice of former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Kingsley Kuku, is fast becoming an object of cruel joke among Nigerian comedians. He is no longer portrayed as the fierce lion who once spurred fear in the hearts of his foes.

Kuku is said to be scared still by the invitation he has received from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on allegations that border on fraud. He had earlier failed to appear before the commission on July 28, a few weeks after the anti-graft agency invited him for interrogation, citing a knee injury over which he was receiving treatment at St. Andrew’s Hospital, Alabama in the United States of America (US) as reason for not honouring the invitation from the anti-graft agency.

He had denied claims that he was a fugitive, saying that as a patriotic Nigerian, he would return home to clear his name. But rather than return to the country to honour EFCC’s invitation, Kuku posted a photograph on the social media with his knee in bandage.

In a statement he issued earlier, Kuku insists that he is not only a patriotic Nigerian, he has a future and image to protect, and in the light of this, his integrity is more important to him than the vanity of this world. He also insists that he does not have any foreign account or house anywhere outside the shores of Nigeria.

  • Okocha’s wife beats retreat

    Okocha’s wife beats retreat

To stay relevant on the social scene, you must learn the ways of the balloon—lower your profile to raise it again when occasion demands it. Ace footballer Austin Okocha’s wife, Nkechi, seems to have mastered this trick, hence her decision to adopt a low profile lifestyle after years of gracing the social scene with her presence.

Okocha and Nkechi are without a doubt one of the most admired couples on the social scene. The duo, who exchanged marital vows at an impressive ceremony more than 15 years ago, have made an impression on the social scene, particularly since Okocha quit active football. Their knowledge of fashion’s dos and don’ts is reflected in their choice of apparels and accessories. However, Nkechi has lately been missing from the scheme of things.

MO ABUDU ‘spoils’ guests at MOVIE LAUNCH

Mo Abudu is in the business of redefinition. Once she takes interest in a venture, she gets herself involved in it, takes it over where necessary and redefines it. For instance, she redefined talk show business and became the queen of talk show. She is currently redefining the movie industry in Nigeria.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EbonyLife TV flaunts an impeccable taste for order and excellence. Her elegance was at its peak during the grand premiere of her movie, FIFTY. The high octane event held last Sunday, at the Eko Hotel and Suites and was simply breathtaking. It was a black and silver-themed premiere that left many a guest awe struck.

Mo’s beautiful daughter, Temidayo, took very good care of guests as glamorous personalities trooped out to grace the event. With their toothy grins, it was obvious that they felt privileged to be part of Mo’s grand night. In spite of the glamour at the event, the after-party presented even greater opportunity for Mo’s guests to marvel over her brilliance and social capital.

Juju maestro, King Sunny Ade, and his band treated guests to timeless songs from his musical repertoire. Not a few of the guests admitted that the after-party scene was great. It had an old school theme that resonated pleasurably and nostalgically with matured souls among the elite party crowd in attendance. Guests swayed and shuffled to the beats and lyrics of timeless oldies that brought back memories of their youth and impressionable years.
