  • Moshood Mustapha’s marriage crumbles

The marriage of Moshood Mustapha, the Special Adviser on Intra-Parliamentary Affairs to the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has hit the rocks. And like a shattered egg, there seems to be no hope of rescuing it.

As it is usual in many marriages, the two parties are trading allegations. Taibat, an indigene of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, sees no reason to stay in a marriage in which trust is a scarce commodity while Hon. Mustapha is said to have also claimed finding out many unsettling details about his wife.

Thus, the road split in two and Taibat moved out of her matrimonial home in Abuja for another place in the Federal Capital Territory, while Mustapha, a member of the House of Representatives in the 7th Assembly, seems to have accepted the reality of a broken home.

It was gathered that Mustapha newly clinched the post of Special Adviser on Intra-Parliamentary Affairs as a result of his technical know-how on issues relating to interaction among senators. He once served as the Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), a position in which he was said to have performed creditably.

  • Adebibu’s widow takes charge at Molete

Sometimes, the living clings to the memory of the dead, but not out of any lingering feelings of love and loss. They cling to the dead like the mosquito to the skin, sucking greedily and maintaining their own status through continuous affiliation with the departed.

This foregoing scenario is apt with Alhaja Bose, the widow of the late powerful man of Ibadan politics, Chief Lamidi Adedibu. The serial pilgrim has told sources close to her that she may not remarry, her reason being that she wields a lot of power by remaining the widow of the late political titan.

Alhaja Bose believes that adopting a new surname would erode the influence and respect she enjoys with the people as Adedibu’s wife. Indeed, it seems some people’s loyalty remains not to the living but to the dead, even in this new era of change.

Sources close to Adedibu’s household hinted that Alhaja Bose remains in charge at the Malete palace of the late political godfather. Whatever she wills happens and whatever idea she does not give her consent to remains dead on arrival.
