My record-breaking jollof pot not for sale – Hilda Baci

Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has disclosed that the giant pot used in her record-breaking feat for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice will not be auctioned or sold.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday at the Gino Nigeria office in Lagos, Baci revealed plans to restore the pot to its original form and put it on public display, potentially in a museum or other accessible space.

She explained that the pot has transcended its role as mere cookware, becoming a symbol of history, faith, and innovation.

Baci also highlighted the painstaking effort invested in creating the pot and expressed hope that it would serve as a lasting source of inspiration for future generations.

Emphasising its cultural significance, she described the pot as a representation of Nigerian cuisine and heritage, adding that her goal is for people to see it, learn from it, and celebrate it for years to come.

She said, “Oh, you may not have heard of it. Oh, trust me, so many people have asked about that pot. Some people want to buy it, but they said we should auction it.

“That (pot) is a symbol of a lot of beautiful things. It’s a symbol of history. It’s a symbol of faith. It’s a symbol of innovation. Because, trust me, the process of putting that pot together, you know, it’s a symbol of many things.

“I think we agree that this is something that we want 10 years from now, 20 years from now, for people to still be able to see and point to.

“I think that was the biggest pot of jollof rice in Nigeria. In the world, not just in Nigeria, because it’s been established for the first time.

“I mean, right now, I can tell you we’re definitely not going to auction it.

“We’re not going to sell it. We’re going to make sure that as many people as possible get to see it in its glory.

“And you’re probably going to ask me, are you going to keep it in that shape, no?

“We’re going to put it back in the form that it originally was. And, I don’t know, you’ll find it may be on your way to work or in a museum somewhere”.

Hilda Baci set a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz), in partnership with Gino on September 12, 2025, at Victoria Island, Lagos.

“New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria,” the global body announced on X (formerly Twitter).

The record-breaking event attracted a large crowd, including celebrities like Funke Akindele, Ogun First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, and dancer Kaffy.

With this achievement, Hilda Baci has once again brought global attention to Nigerian cuisine, following her successful 2023 cook-a-thon where she cooked for over 100 hours.

  • Sarah Martins condemns body shaming, defends women’s right to cosmetic surgery

Sarah Martins condemns body shaming, defends women’s right to cosmetic surgery

Actress Sarah Martins has decried body shaming, especially against women who undergo liposuction and Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL).

In a post on Instagram, the actress urged critics to stop judging those who chose cosmetic procedures, stressing that everyone has the right to decide what works best for their bodies.

She clarified that liposuction is not a shortcut to massive weight loss but a procedure that often follows significant weight reduction, sometimes after gastric bypass surgery, to achieve more defined results.

Martins also highlighted that liposuction does not guarantee a flawless figure, noting that maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including proper diet and exercise, is essential to sustaining its benefits.

She encouraged women to either embrace their natural looks or confidently opt for surgery without fear of stigma or judgment.

She wrote, “Stop talking down on people who got their body done, sis, if you knew the amount of work they put in just to get a good result, you would understand the fact that liposuction will not fix your massive weight.

“Liposuction can fix a belly that has already lost a huge amount of weight, not your whole body!

Why do you think people have to go through a gastric bypass before undergoing Lipo? Liposuction doesn’t guarantee a banging body.

“If you must achieve a good result after liposuction, you MUST lose weight, so I laugh when people assume liposuction fixes people’s bodies.

“I do not support anyone body shaming people!

“You did not create them, so you have absolutely NO right to talk down on their body type!

“If you’re confident in your natural body, rock it with pride. However, if you feel you need surgery to enhance your appearance, do it still!

It’s your money and your happiness, too, so do what works for you!

“Even people who are naturally curvy and work so hard to maintain their figure are also being accused of undergoing surgery because nobody seems to believe some women are naturally built that way.

“Note: even after surgery, if you still fail to take the proper measures to maintain your figure by eating healthy, you will still go back to square one. Stop body shaming people!!!!!”.

Why I will never return to BBNaija show – Seyi Awolowo

Seyi Awolowo, a former Big Brother Naija housemate, has vowed never to return to the reality show.

He made this declaration on a recent episode of the Old Secrets podcast, citing the harsh treatment he received during his time on the show.

Awolowo claimed he was bullied by “very low, insignificant, and uneducated people,” and criticised some educated individuals for staying silent despite knowing the truth.

According to Awolowo, these educated elites prioritised convenience over standing up for what was right.

He emphasised that if given the chance to go back in time, he wouldn’t change any of his actions in the house, as he has learned from his experiences and been chastised enough.

“I will never go back to the show, organisers can’t even call me.

“I allow myself get bullied by very very insignificant and uneducated people. Not to mention the educated ones amongst that have the ability to see the truth but because of convenience, refused to stand by it,” he said

Seyi participated in the show’s fourth season, also known as the “Pepper Dem” edition in 2019.

He emerged as a finalist, finishing in fifth place out of the housemates.

Strategy key to winning BBNaija, by CeeC

Former BBNaija housemate CeeC has reflected on her experience on the show and highlighted the importance of having a strategy to achieve one’s goals.

In an interview on Pulse, the two-time finalist, admitted that she personally struggled with planning and sticking to a strategy, often preferring to go with the flow.

However, she emphasised that having a clear plan and being focused on one’s objectives is crucial to success on the show.

According to CeeC, contestants should prioritise their goals, whether it’s winning the money or building relationships, and maintain a ruthless focus on achieving them.

She noted that the show’s unpredictable nature means that contestants need to be adaptable and strategic in order to thrive.

CeeC said her insights come from her own experience of being on the show twice, as well as her observations of other contestants.

She said: “I think the one thing that I don’t know how to do is to stick to a strategy. I don’t even know how to strategize, I feel like just go with it. And to be honest, maybe that’s why I have no money.

“No, please. Yeah, but having been on the show twice and also having watched the show sometimes, I’ll say one thing, it’s very important to have a strategy and stick to it. Be serious about it, be ruthless about it. If you’re going into the show to win the money, your eyes should be on the prize, the money.

” Don’t lose that. Forget about what anybody else is doing. Just focus on your own. If you’re there to maybe be a first run out, focus on it. If you’re there to do sheep, catch relationship, do friendship, whatever it is, focus on it. But it’s very, very important because one thing about the show is that they don’t give a script”.
