BBNAIJA S10: Kola’s team slams online backlash, threatens legal action

Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate Kola Omotoso’s team has slammed intense online backlash after a playful flirty conversation with Kola and fellow contestant Dede.

The controversy started when a private conversation between Kola and Dede, in which she asked him to focus on more personal topics, was clipped and shared on social media.

Despite the conversation being innocent, it fueled speculation about Kola’s intentions, with Dede’s fans accusing him of “crossing lines” due to his growing closeness with her.

The online chatter escalated quickly, with Kola’s actions being scrutinised by fans.

However, his team sprang to his defense, releasing a statement on his official X account.

They described the online accusations as “dangerous and unfounded labels” that could have serious consequences for his life and career.

According to the statement, Kola’s behavior in the house has been consistently respectful and kind, particularly towards women.

His team emphasised that he has shown restraint and self-control, never crossing any boundaries set by his fellow housemates.

They slammed the allegations as calculated and malicious, warning that any further defamatory statements would be met with immediate legal action.

The statement partly reads: “Kola has recently faced a wave of online backlash, with accusations and name-calling taking over social media spaces.

“What began as name-calling: ‘mumu,’ ‘simp’, has now escalated into dangerous and unfounded labels such as ‘rapist’, ‘predator’, ‘abuser’, coined expressly and impliedly.

“Kola has consistently carried himself in the Big Brother Naija house with dignity, respect, and kindness towards everyone, especially the women.

“From the very beginning, he has shown restraint and self-control, keeping his hands to himself even during the Thursday and Saturday night parties, and never once crossing a boundary set by anyone, male or female.

“It is deeply disheartening to see a simple, honest conversation he had with a fellow housemate twisted out of context to paint him as something he is not. This attempt to trap him and strip both parties of their dignity is dead on arrival.

“We remind the public that labels such as these carry weight far beyond this show. They can ruin lives, careers, and futures.

“We will not sit back and allow his name to be tarnished by reckless and defamatory statements… any further defamatory tweets or posts will be met with immediate legal action.”

Faith considers voluntary exit from BBNaija season 10

Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate Faith has revealed that he is considering a voluntary exit from the show, describing it as a “waste of time”.

In a conversation with Joanna in the garden, the medical doctor expressed his frustration and doubts about continuing in the reality show.

According to his research, the average time needed to make a career boost from the show is five and a half weeks, and he’s already spent five weeks in the house.

He said: “I want to see a therapist because I want to f**king leave. This is a waste of my time. What am I doing here? I know you don’t believe me, but I’m seriously considering it.

“I read about this show, the average time you need to spend on the show to actually make a career is five and a half weeks.”

Faith’s concerns are compounded by his initial nomination for eviction this week, although Big Brother cancelled the eviction after Head of House Rooboy picked a note that nullified nominations.

This temporary reprieve means Faith won’t face eviction until next week. However, with the show’s rules allowing for voluntary exits, Faith said he is seriously contemplating leaving the house.

Morayo Afolabi-Brown opens up on depression, controversies

Former host of the popular morning show on TVC ‘Your View’ Morayo Afolabi- Brown has opened up about her struggles with depression and past controversies.

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Morayo expressed struggles during her 12 years as the host of Your View.

The media personality revealed that at one point in her life, she battled depression so deeply that she contemplated suicide.

“I was depressed. It got so bad that I thought I was suicidal. I just left everything. I remember just walking on the express, hoping a car would hit me. It was that bad,” she said.

Speaking on her decision to step away from Your View, Morayo explained that by the 10th anniversary of the show, she already knew it was time to move on.

“It was when we were 10 years old that I knew it was time to go to the next thing. I’ve been harbouring that thought for a while, but I just didn’t know to what or to wear, you know. But I think last year, I got that light bulb moment,” she revealed.

She also recounted the time she was fired from TVC due to political issues but her identity was later clarified by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“People now called Asiwaju, do you know whose child was sacked? He said, I’m not aware. He said, This is the Alao Aka- Bashorun’s daughter. That’s when he knew it was me,” she recalled.

The broadcaster addressed some of her biggest controversies when she openly supported Tinubu during the 2023 elections.

She also explained her initial criticisms of former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi, were due to lack of knowledge.

“It was because I did not know him. After I made that comment, people called me and said, ‘Morayo, do you realise that when he was governor, he actually served us?’ So that was him. I said, ‘Oh, I did not know.’ ,” she confessed.

Another major scandal she reflected on was the backlash after an on-air conversation led to accusations that she had called her husband a pedophile.

According to her, it took the intervention of the First Lady to help her make amends and apologise to her husband publicly.

Her exit from Your View marked the end of a 12-year journey.
