“Who am I? What was I made for? Half body, half spirit. Hybrid of good and evil, a blend of pain and pleasure?

“In my religion, I pray. In my culture, I gyrate. What’s the odour of the blessings? And why do the curses scent?

“Maybe I compare too much. Maybe all I’ve been searching for is within; good, bad, black, white, rivers, oceans, and deserts; can each exist without the other?

“Now you see? There’s two or three of everything posing as opposites. But one of only me posing as many

“Ah, I see. We are spirits. Our bodies are Uber rides. Oh no! Our bodies are Airbnbs!!! Lov, Bov”.

Sound engineer Zeeno Foster celebrates digital revolution

Veteran sound engineer and media entrepreneur, Ewomozeeno Ajos Foster, popularly known as Zeeno Foster, has shed light on the sweeping changes transforming Nigeria’s music production industry.

According to him, technological advancements and artificial intelligence have made music creation more accessible, enabling young producers to achieve professional-quality sound with minimal equipment.

“New generation producers are the ones enjoying the fruit of our hard work,” Zeeno remarked, noting that modern talents now rely heavily on cutting-edge software, plugins, and AI to create hit tracks.

With over two decades of experience, Zeeno Foster has been instrumental in Nigeria’s Afrobeats revolution. He recalls an era when producing music required bulky microphones, massive mixing consoles, and extensive technical expertise, making the craft both physically demanding and time-consuming.

Today, he acknowledges that digital tools and AI-powered software have streamlined the process, but he stresses that true excellence in sound engineering still lies in artistry, creativity, and skill.

“Engineers who can manipulate analog recordings and understand the nuances of sound are still the best,” he notes. “While software helps, the real mastery lies in hearing well, balancing tones and also understanding what makes a track resonate universally.”

He also pointed out that these technological innovations have made sound engineering more democratic.

“Plugins and software are tools to enhance our craft, not replace it,” Zeeno Foster explains. “The true skill is in delivering a sound that is pleasing to the ears, regardless of the tools used.”

Zeeno Foster also highlighted a positive industry shift producers now benefit from royalties and recognition, unlike the past when they merely received upfront payments.

He said, “Today, producers and those behind the scenes enjoy earnings from royalties, awards, and credits, acknowledging their vital role in the success of Nigerian music.”

Throughout his illustrious career, Zeeno Foster has engineered hits for major artists including Wizkid, Davido, Kizz Daniel, 2Baba, KCEE, and Psquare. His journey underscores that while technology continues to evolve, the core principles of good sound engineering skill, experience, and a keen ear remain paramount.

Looking ahead, Zeeno advocated a balanced approach, blending traditional analog skills especially in live sound and stage performances with modern digital innovations.

He believes this fusion is essential for creating timeless, high-quality music that withstands changing trends and technological advancements.

Foster is also a media entrepreneur, tech enthusiast, farmer, and realtor. Since entering the industry in 2000, he has significantly contributed to Nigeria’s music scene, founding influential media companies and mentoring upcoming talents. Passionate about technological innovation and sustainable growth, Zeeno continues to shape the future of Nigeria’s creative and economic sectors.

BBNAIJA: Focus on entertainment not just romance, Adekunle urges fans

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle has expressed frustration with the way fans are engaging with the current season of the show.

According to him, the excessive focus on relationships, potential ships, and drama is overshadowing the entertainment value of the program.

According to Adekunle, fans should shift their attention to appreciating the diverse personalities and talents of the housemates.

He notes that with 26 contestants in the house, more than half of whom are incredibly entertaining, there’s a wealth of content to enjoy beyond romantic storylines.

Adekunle also reminds fans that everything happening in the house is part of a game, where contestants are playing roles to achieve their goals and by fixating on a handful of housemates and their relationships, fans are diluting the potential of the season.

Adekunle’s request fans to enjoy the show in its entirety, taking in the various curated events, like the pool party and wager presentation, which are designed to enhance the viewer’s experience.

He wrote on X: “You guys aren’t enjoying this show and it sucks. I haven’t watched the show since Wednesday, and I hoped to get updates on the TL. But instead, it’s talk about alleged ships, potential ships and the drama within the triangles.

“There are 26 people in that house and more than half of them are incredibly entertaining. THIS IS AN ENTERTAINMENT SHOW, not a show about love. I’m genuinely asking now, because I don’t get it. What exactly is the entertaining value in
-boy likes girl, boy goes after girl.
-girl likes the attention, girl plays hard to get.
-boy talks to other girls, girl talks to other boys. Yes, it’s a storyline, but come on guys !

Read Also: BBNaija: People killed goats to celebrate my disqualification – Tacha

“There has been 9 seasons of the show and only a handful of ships have been successful afterwards. Year in, year out you guys always do this. FOCUS ON SHIPS – especially the ones that are unlikely to sail, WHY?

“Remember that everyone in that house is playing a game. Some people get in there knowing exactly what they want to do. Others figure it out while they’re in there, while others have to constantly remind themselves where they are and that – it’s all still a game.

“There was a pool party, a wager presentation and other things this week. These things are curated for the viewers experience. Allow yourselves to be entertained by EVERYTHING, not just the drama. Don’t make these housemates come out and pretend to be something they’re not just because they want to satisfy the fans.

“This season has the potential to be one of the best, but we’ll dilute it if we focus on just a handful of the housemates. Let’s enjoy the SHOW. Let’s focus on ENTERTAINMENT!”

    Women dictate music, says Darkoo

British-Nigerian singer Darkoo has stated that music and the world at large is dictated by women, revealing the significant role women play in shaping music trends and popularising songs.

Speaking in a recent episode of Comfortably Speaking podcast, Darkoo argued women often influence men into liking or playing certain songs, citing the rise of the South African genre Amapiano as a prime example.

She noted that women were among the first to embrace Amapiano, creating dance trends on social media that eventually caught on with men.
