New podcast ‘Old Secrets’ to feature Nkechi Blessing, Seyi Awolowo, others

When High Chief Obio Oloyejulius tells people to stop carrying the weight of their youthful mistakes, he speaks from experience. His upcoming podcast “Old Secrets,” launching Sunday, August 17th, isn’t just about entertainment; it’s about liberation through shared vulnerability.

“Stop worrying about things you did when you were young and naive. Don’t let them ruin your present. Nothing is new—you’re not the only one who has done or seen such things,” Oloyejulius counsels, articulating the therapeutic philosophy behind his Oloflix TV show.

The concept emerged from Oloyejulius’ understanding that many Nigerians suffer in silence, believing their past actions make them uniquely flawed. His solution? Create a safe space where celebrities and everyday people can share their “old secrets” and discover they’re not alone in their humanity.

“Some people carry heavy burdens in their hearts, thinking they’ve done the worst things in the past and that God is not happy with them. But when they hear your own old secrets, they realise theirs were just small compared to yours,” he explains, describing the unexpected healing that occurs during filming.

The show’s approach to creating psychological safety is deliberately unconventional. “The world is changing, and there’s nothing new you can say that will truly harm you afterwards,” Oloyejulius argues, believing that openness, rather than secrecy, provides protection in today’s world.

His guest selection for the premiere season reflects this philosophy. Nkechi Blessing Sunday, Seyi Awolowo, Bimbo Thomas, and other prominent figures will share stories that demonstrate how shared vulnerability can strengthen rather than damage reputations.

“These secrets don’t have to be about you personally; it could be something you saw but no one knew you witnessed. It’s in the past, so it won’t hurt anyone now,” Oloyejulius clarifies, noting that the stories often involve harmless childhood mischief that becomes comedic gold years later.

The host admits that many guests experience post-interview anxiety. “Many of my guests feel like they’ve said too much after the show, feeling shy about it. But I always tell them it’s not bad, your story might help someone else open up,” he reveals, positioning the show as a form of community healing.

Oloyejulius believes this therapeutic approach will keep audiences engaged: “The more old secrets we get from our guests, the more our audience will keep waiting eagerly for the next episode.”
