  • The Names of God by Min. Adeoluwa (Adeoluwa Boluwajaiye): A Song that speaks across cultures

The Names of God by Min. Adeoluwa (Adeoluwa Boluwajaiye): A Song that speaks across cultures

It was a random Thursday afternoon, and I was stuck in the usual Lagos traffic, flipping through stations to ease the boredom. Then I heard the beat – steady, inviting, different from the usual noise on radio. Moments later, a voice came in, quoting Proverbs 18:10: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” That was it. I was hooked. For two minutes, I forgot the chaos around me. I didn’t catch the name or the singer, but as soon as I got home, I searched. That’s how I found The Names of God by Adeoluwa Boluwajaiye, also known as Min. Adeoluwa.

The track is a lively praise anthem – joyful, danceable, and deeply rooted in scripture. Unlike his earlier works, It Is Written in His Word and Mary’s Praise, this one goes a step further by pulling from three major Nigerian languages. Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa all find expression in its call-and-response and ad-libs. It’s a bold move that turns the song into a pan-African praise piece while keeping it accessible to listeners everywhere. And even though it is a praise song, I won’t be surprised if some music ministers slow it down in worship. It fits into both worlds effortlessly.

Lyrically, Adeoluwa leans on the power of God’s covenant names. “Jehovah Jireh” becomes a prayer for provision. “Jehovah Nissi” is a declaration of victory, while “Jehovah Shammah” is a reminder of God’s presence. Each name lands not as mere titles, but as lived testimony, making the song feel both personal and communal.

The production is crisp and deliberate. The mix balances Adeoluwa’s lead with a wall of strong backup vocals, creating a sound that feels grand, yet intimate. Credit to Ajibade Isaiah (Ikeyz), the producer behind the track. Ikeyz did justice to the vision of the song – delivering a beat that is both modern and rooted in tradition.

In a gospel scene filled with pop-infused beats and overproduced hooks, The Names of God takes a different path. Its strength is in its simplicity and sincerity – music that makes you move while keeping your heart lifted. That’s why it stands out.

And the numbers back it up. In just two weeks, the song crossed 40,000 streams across platforms. For an independent release, that’s no small feat. It shows that scripture-rooted praise still resonates in a big way.

For me, it all began with a beat on the radio. For others, it may start in church, at home, or through headphones. However you find it, one thing is certain: The Names of God is more than a track. It’s a cultural bridge, a praise anthem, and a joyful declaration of faith.

    By Lawson Heyford

The much-talked-about Miami wedding of Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and his heartthrob, Chioma, was nothing short of a celebrity fiesta—showcasing some of Nigeria’s and the world’s most influential personalities.

The frills, glitz, and glamour that trended at the Miami event also highlighted the special bond Igbo women have brought into the Adeleke dynasty.

Ambassador Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, wife of the Osun State Governor, and the newest bride, Chioma Rowland Adeleke—both from Imo State—created a unique buzz that echoed the lineage of the Adeleke matriarch, Esther Adeleke. The duo’s simple elegance and warm yet flamboyant appearances reflected the humility often associated with wives from across the Niger.

While Davido openly declares his love for Chioma through both his music and his actions, Governor Ademola Adeleke also showcases his passion for Ofe Owerri—a symbolic culinary delight prepared by Igbo women who understand the age-old saying that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. This is part of a heritage defined by beauty, intellect, resourcefulness, and humility.

Beyond her home values, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke is a committed humanitarian. Her foundation, the Esther Adeleke Humanitarian and Empowerment Foundation, has consistently placed Osun State indigenes on the map of empowerment history.

I never stole a luxury wristwatch at Davido’s Miami wedding – Ubi Franklin

Music executive Ubi Franklin has denied allegations of stealing a luxury wristwatch at Davido‘s Miami wedding.

In a statement, Franklin explained that a jeweller, Benny, had offered to sell him a watch but he declined due to concerns over its previous ownership.

According to him, Benny’s brother later delivered another watch to him during the wedding ceremony, which he claimed to have purchased and paid for in full.

Franklin stated that he wore the purchased watch during the event while he still held on to the previous one, maintaining that he is not a thief.

He added that he has never stolen from anyone in his life, attributing the controversy to misinformation and expressed appreciation for the support he received during this challenging time, as he prepares for his sister’s funeral.

He wrote on X: “I am currently aware of the recent circulation on social media linking my name to an alleged theft. I wish to make it clear that these allegations are completely false and misleading.

“Recently, I returned from my dear Friend/sister’s wedding and I am currently preparing for my sister’s funeral this coming weekend. It is an extremely difficult and sensitive time for me and my family, but I feel it is important to address this matter directly.

“While in Miami, Benny met me and offered to sell me a wristwatch. After reviewing the item and confirming its previous ownership, I decided not to purchase it in order to avoid any potential complications. I clearly communicated that him.

“During the wedding church service, Benny sent his brother with another wristwatch to me .that which I had purchased and paid in full.
Given the busy circumstances surrounding the wedding, I was in possession of both wristwatches and wore the one he sent to me through his brother.

“After the wedding, I had to leave Miami immediately to finialize my sister’s funeral coming up this weekend. While airborne, I was contacted by Benny regarding the other wristwatch.

“I want to state clearly: I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone in my life. I purchased a wristwatch and paid in full from Benny. Benny had earlier in the day debunked this news and yet it still kept spreading.
I appreciate the calls and messages
This is my final word on this”.
