Why I won’t invest in up-and-coming artists – Zlatan Ibile

Rapper Zlatan Ibile has revealed that he is hesitant to invest in emerging artists due to the high risk of uncertain returns.

In a recent interview with Adesope, Zlatan stated that he prioritises financial stability and prefers to invest in tangible assets, rather than taking a chance on new talent.

“I will rather go buy a house rather than put money on these artists that I’m not sure will be successful or not,” he said.

Zlatan, who has experienced pressure and anxiety early in his career, emphasised that he is in the music industry strictly for business.

“The reason I am making music is for financial stability. My goal is to be able to be responsible and financially stable. In the beginning of my career, I wasn’t balanced. I suffered from pressure and anxieties,” he said.

He revealed his willingness to also collaborate with up-and-coming artists, drawing from his own experience of receiving help when he was starting out.

Nathaniel Bassey condemns Kwara, Kebbi attacks

Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has reacted to the recent unrest in Kwara and Kebbi states, condemning the alleged attacks on Christians and calling for divine judgment on those responsible.

His statement comes after a disturbing attack on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State, where suspected bandits attacked worshippers during a live-streamed service.

Bassey emphasised that Nigeria is a great nation and urged citizens to pray for courage and willpower for the government, armed forces, and stakeholders to tackle these evils.

Bassey wrote on X, “I believe with all my heart that this is the time and season for the enemies of this nation to be judged once and for all – terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and all who fund, sponsor, and support them. If we miss this season, we may never get it again.

“Nigeria, in my opinion, is one of the greatest nations on earth. And this is also why there is such contention against the soul of this nation”.

He referenced Deuteronomy 7, highlighting the need to conquer enemies and fulfill Nigeria’s prophetic destiny.

“It’s a new season for NIGERIA, and just like in Deuteronomy 7, there are enemies we have to conquer! And as long as we ignore and pretend about these evils, the destiny of this nation will only remain a wish. NIGERIA, it is time! These killers, kidnappers, bandits, and the architects of these evil systems and structures, as well as their sympathizers, must be judged! We pray for will and courage for the government, the armed forces, the intelligence community, and every stakeholder (including the citizens), like never before, to arise with one voice.

“But like Mordecai said to Esther, if you remain silent, help will come from another source. So it shall be for Nigeria. Every one or group of persons who have determined that Nigeria will not rest, may their end come now! In Jesus’ name.

“Peace shall reign in Nigeria. Nigeria shall prosper and fulfil her prophetic destiny. In Jesus’ name. amen. God bless Nigeria!”

The attack in Kwara is just one of many violent incidents in the region, with 25 students recently abducted from a girls’ boarding school in Kebbi State.

Other Nigerian celebrities, including Funke Akindele and Falz, have also condemned the attacks, calling for urgent action to address the growing insecurity in the country.

  • Taye Arimoro demands N100 million from Peggy Ovire over alleged on-set assault

Taye Arimoro demands N100 million from Peggy Ovire over alleged on-set assault

Actor Taye Arimoro has threatened legal action against his colleague Peggy Ovire, demanding a public apology and N100 million compensation over an alleged assault on a movie set.

The incident reportedly occurred when Taye attempted to leave the set after his contracted working hours had expired but Peggy’s team allegedly blocked his car and deflated the tyres.

Taye shared a viral video showing his injuries, including bleeding gums and lips, and accused Peggy and her crew of physical assault.

However, Peggy denied these allegations, claiming Taye was the aggressor and assaulted two crew members, including her driver, who suffered ear bleeding.

A CCTV footage later surfaced, appearing to contradict Peggy’s account, showing her removing wig and preparing to engage in a fight with Taye.

Taye’s lawyers argue that his rights to personal liberty, movement, and dignity were breached, and he’s seeking damages for emotional trauma, psychological stress, and loss of earnings.

Arimoro captioned the post: “@peggyovire, PRE-ACTION NOTICE. In light of the incident referenced in this correspondence, you have been served. Kindly forward all responses to my solicitors as indicated”.

Peggy has been given a seven-day ultimatum to respond to the allegations or face further legal action.

  • Nicki Minaj urges global action to protect Christians at UN Panel

Nicki Minaj urges global action to protect Christians at UN Panel

American Rapper Nicki Minaj addressed the United Nations on Tuesday, on behalf of the international community to confront what she called the targeted killing and displacement of Christians in Nigeria.

The event, organised by the U.S. Mission to the United Nations and titled “Combatting Religious Violence and the Killing of Christians in Nigeria,” featured Minaj alongside Ambassador Mike Waltz, Nigerian faith leaders, and survivors of attacks.

In a five-minute address streamed live on the mission’s YouTube channel, the artist spoke without notes and at times fought back tears.

She said: “Back in way too many places… in Nigeria, Christians are being targeted, driven from their homes and killed.

“Churches have been burned, families have been torn apart, and entire communities live in fear constantly simply because of how they pray.”

She insisted the crisis extends far beyond Nigeria’s borders and stressed that defending one religious group does not mean opposing another.

“Sadly, this problem is not only a growing problem in Nigeria but also in so many other countries across the world — and it demands urgent action,” she said.

The rapper emphasised that calling for the protection of Christians should not be misinterpreted as taking sides, saying, “Protecting Christians in Nigeria is not about taking sides or dividing people. It is about uniting humanity.

“Nigeria is a beautiful nation with deep faith traditions — and lots of beautiful Barbz that I can’t wait to see.”

Speaking about reported attacks on places of worship, she noted, “When one’s church, mosque, or place of worship is destroyed, everyone’s heart should break just a little bit. And the foundation of the United Nations, with its core mandate to ensure peace and security, should shake.”

Minaj thanked President Donald Trump for elevating the issue and praised grassroots interfaith efforts.

“I am inspired by their work to build interfaith ties, to see the humanity across the lines which might divide us, and to fight for security and liberty for all those who pray.

“I hope it will encourage deepened solidarity for us to urgently work together to ensure every person can enjoy the right to believe, to worship, and to live in peace… Barbz”, she said.

She ended on a lighter note, telling her Nigerian fans, known as “Barbz” that the country remains “beautiful” and that she looks forward to performing there.

Ambassador Waltz, who introduced Minaj, described the violence as “genocide wearing the mask of chaos” and highlighted the Trump administration’s decision to redesignate Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) for severe violations of religious freedom.

Nigeria’s government swiftly rejected the portrayal.
