Genevieve Nnaji slams social media user over marriage advice to Igbo men

Nollywood icon Genevieve Nnaji has reacted to comments made by a social media user advising Igbo men to stop marrying Igbo women and instead seek wives from other African countries.

The suggestion, which followed a viral photo of a Rwandan woman reportedly engaged to an Anambra man, implied that Igbo women are prone to making false accusations.

The user claimed men from the south-east would be better off looking to East African countries, particularly Rwanda, for marriage partners.

Nnaji, who has long been regarded as one of Nollywood’s most respected voices, joined many Nigerians in responding to the controversial post, which has sparked debates on stereotypes, cultural pride and respect within relationships.

The user wrote, “Dear Igbo men, instead of marrying an Igbo woman who’ll falsely accuse you of r4ping your daughter, better look outside for a wife.

“Go to East Africa, especially Rwanda, and pick a damsel. They’re all over social media, and you can link up with them.”

Genevieve countered that the advice reflects a lack of accountability and an unfair stereotype of Igbo women.

She wrote, “In other words, instead of checking yourself and taking accountability, go for the unsuspecting and carry on with your evil. Got it.”

When challenged, she added that just as women can’t identify abusive men, men shouldn’t generalise about Igbo women, saying “Not all women.”

She added, “The same way a woman can’t tell an abusive man apart from a good one is the same way you shouldn’t say avoid all Igbo women. ‘Not all women.”

  • How Lumberjack redefines Nigeria’s online entertainment scene

How Lumberjack redefines Nigeria’s online entertainment scene

In Nigeria’s fast-growing streaming scene, one creator continues to rise with a mix of humour, chaos, and unfiltered truth. Lumberjack has turned the spontaneity of everyday life into performance, building a devoted audience that sees both laughter and honesty in his world.

Born in Sagamu but raised in Warri, Lumberjack’s story begins in a city known for its sharp wit and fearless energy. “Warri shaped everything about me,” he says. “How I talk, how I see things, how I react. Growing up there teaches you to face life with no fear. We no dey fear for Warri. Even with all the wahala, peace must come.” That blend of resilience and community spirit became the foundation of his personality. In 2024, he moved to Lagos, ready for a bigger stage.

His content journey started long before the move. In 2020, he joined TikTok, testing out short videos that carried his signature “Warri talk.” “At first, I was just carrying a stick, talking about trending topics. I’d drag people playfully, talk about celebrities, and mix it with street slang. People loved it. They laughed, they shared, and it brought engagement.”

Over time, he realised there was more to explore. Streaming offered something different—a space to be himself in real time. “I transformed that energy into live streaming,” he says. “At first, it was rough. I’d just sit there mixing coconut and groundnut, eating bread and Coke, shouting, playing, and connecting with people. But that’s where I found my rhythm.”

What sets his streams apart is how he blends chaos with calm, humour with honesty. “Everything about me is entertainment,” he explains.

“Violence and peace. You’ll see drama, you’ll see jokes, you’ll see joy. I just bring vibes.” His process is natural, often unscripted.

“Sometimes I watch videos, and from there, something meaningful comes out. Something relatable, like something I’ve faced before.” This organic approach gives his content a raw, unpredictable edge that keeps people watching.

“Still, the work comes with pressure. “Pressure is the biggest challenge,” he admits. “People always compare you. They say, ‘See your mate.’ That thing gets to you sometimes.

“Then there’s bad network, hate, all of that. But I keep going.” Despite the noise, Lumberjack stays grounded in authenticity. “No difference,” he says.

“The way I am in real life is how I am online. Funny, angry, calm, all at once. I’m just real. I’m organic.”

Beyond the screen, he’s a lover of football and good energy, traits that mirror the personality his fans connect with. Looking ahead, his vision is clear. “Myself times ten,” he says with a grin. “Not just Lagos or Warri, but worldwide.” For Lumberjack, streaming is more than entertainment.

It is a mirror of his journey, a reflection of how laughter, honesty, and grit can turn everyday struggle into something worth watching.

Minaj will be joined by US Ambassador to the UN, Michael Waltz, and Alex Bruesewitz, a senior adviser to former President Donald Trump.

Ambassador Waltz praised Minaj, saying she’s “not only arguably the greatest female recording artist, but also a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice”.

He added, “I’m grateful she’s leveraging her massive platform to spotlight the atrocities against Christians in Nigeria, and I look forward to standing with her as we discuss the steps the President and his administration are taking to end the persecution of our Christian brothers and sisters”.

  • Yeankeyz set to release debut EP ‘Evolve or Dissolve’

Yeankeyz set to release debut EP ‘Evolve or Dissolve’

…as hidden architect finally claims his throne

After years of working behind the scenes as a creative force shaping the sound and direction of modern music, Nigerian-born creative strategist and brand architect, Yeankeyz, is stepping into the spotlight with his first-ever EP, ‘Evolve or Dissolve’, scheduled for release on December 25, 2025.

In a statement issued by his media office, Yeankeyz, whose real name is Mayowa Adeyinka Orenuga, said he is no stranger to the industry, even if many listeners are meeting him for the first time.

“You don’t know me. But the people you celebrate do. They know my name,” he said, hinting at his long-running influence behind chart-topping stars and global projects.

According to the statement, the forthcoming EP marks more than a debut—it represents “an unveiling, a declaration, and a long-awaited coronation” for a man who has helped shape countless artistic visions across continents. Known as a consultant, strategist, and brand shaper, Yeankeyz has contributed to projects that defined an era, often without public credit.

“He has watched the music landscape evolve, observed artists rise and transform, and seen his own ideas ignite global trends. Now, he is stepping forward “intentionally and unapologetically,” carrying what he describes as the truth of someone who has nothing left to prove.

“I’ve built empires in silence. Now I’m building mine in the open,” he said.

The statement described ‘Evolve or Dissolve’ as the work of an industry veteran whose artistic journey predates his first official release.

The EP blends Afrofusion, afrobeats, soul influences and experimental rhythms to craft what is termed a “cinematic, atmospheric, and emotionally piercing” sound.

The project, it added, reflects the joy, hustle, pain, and progress that have shaped Yeankeyz’s evolution, with each track offering a piece of his personal story. It is positioned as the sound of an artist who draws from the wisdom of older generations while embracing the fearlessness of Gen Z.

“It is a testimony,” the statement noted. “Every beat feels like a confession. Every lyric feels like a rebirth.”

Beyond music, Yeankeyz’s debut is framed as a message to the industry—an insistence that the creators who build culture behind the scenes deserve recognition.

For the first time, the creative architect is telling his story “not behind someone else’s spotlight… but with full clarity and ownership.”

With the release of ‘Evolve or Dissolve’, Yeankeyz is described as closing the chapter of being the hidden mastermind and stepping into a new era where he shapes his own narrative.

“This is my rebirth. I carried others for years. Now I’m carrying my name into the future,” he said.

Arriving on Christmas Day 2025, the EP is expected to come with world-class visuals, immersive storytelling, and a rollout designed like a global campaign—an approach consistent with Yeankeyz’s reputation for precision and innovation.

According to the statement, the creative force “didn’t come to participate. He came to stamp. To certify. To evolve.”

He praised Don Jazzy for handing over his catalogue and some unreleased songs.

D’banj expressed missing collaborations with Don Jazzy but believes their split was predestined.

“If I were to go back in time, I wouldn’t have done anything differently regarding my relationship with Don Jazzy, especially when the idea to go our separate ways didn’t come from me. It came from Don Jazzy 100 per cent. And that’s why we have no issue.

“Jazzy gave me 100 per cent of my catalogue and maybe 10 other songs I have not released… It was a journey for me, even though he had his opinion, I knew that we needed to cement that global movement and I’m glad that even after, God still did it for us with ‘Oliver Twist’, which was the last record we released together,” he remarked.
