Pope’s inaugural Mass: Tinubu banters with Obi, Fayemi at Vatican

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday met with Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, at the Vatican City during the installation Mass of Pope Leo XIV.

The three Nigerian political figures, who were in Rome for the high-profile religious event, exchanged pleasantries in a brief but symbolic encounter that was made public by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga via a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to Onanuga, Fayemi, a Papal Knight and devout Catholic, spotted President Tinubu seated with other global leaders during the Mass and invited Obi to join him in greeting the President.

Obi, also a staunch Catholic and Papal Knight, agreed.

“Fayemi sighted President Tinubu, where he sat with other leaders, and asked Obi to follow him to pay homage to the Nigerian leader. Obi agreed,” Onanuga wrote.

He added that Fayemi introduced the moment with a light-hearted remark to the President: “Mr. President, welcome to our church, and thank you for honouring the Pope with your presence.”

President Tinubu responded in kind, quipping: “I should be the one welcoming you and Peter. I’m the Head of the Nigerian Delegation.”

The exchange drew laughter from Obi, who replied, “Yes, indeed. We are members of your delegation.”

The encounter, though brief, has drawn public attention back home, with many viewing it as a rare display of civility and mutual respect among political opponents.

Obi contested the 2023 presidential election on the Labour Party platform, securing over six million votes.

President Tinubu, declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), polled over eight million votes.

The moment at the Vatican comes amid broader calls for unity and collaboration among Nigeria’s political leaders, especially as the country navigates complex economic and security challenges.

Two octogenarians, 80-year-old Ayuba Ashiru and 82-year-old Mrs. Uloma Uchechi Sunday, along with her 32-year-old daughter, Chisom Uchechi, have been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in a series of coordinated raids across the country.

This development comes as the agency intercepted opioids valued at over N3.2 billion at the Apapa seaport in Lagos and the Port Harcourt port in Onne, Rivers State.

The NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the arrests in a statement issued on Sunday, highlighting that Ayuba Ashiru is a repeat offender who had previously served a 10-year sentence for drug-related offences between 2014 and 2024.

The Spokesman added that in like manner, NDLEA operatives at the Apapa seaport in Lagos on Tuesday, 13th May, intercepted another watch-listed container declared to have new car parts and accessories from India.

Babafemi also said in Kwara state, no fewer than 199,200 pills of tramadol were recovered from two suspects: Abdulwahab Quadir and Abdulraheem Ismail on Friday, 16th May, following their arrest at Gegele area of Ilorin by NDLEA operatives.

He said the operatives also raided Favour Lodge in the state capital, where an HND 1 student of the Department of Laboratory Science Technology, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ibrahim Oladimeji Abdulateef, was arrested with 650 grams of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis already measured in 149 cups, which he sells to other students.

JUST IN: Enugu LP Rep member, 1000 others defect to APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State have received the member representing Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency, in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sunday Umeha, to the party.

Umeha, who was elected into the National Assembly on the platform of Labour Party (LP), announced his defection to the ruling APC during a mini-rally at Ibagwa-Aka, in Igboeze South local government area, weekend.

At the event, a business mogul and financier of Labour Party in Igboeze South local government area, Chief Joshua Ogbonna popularly called “Father Father” led more than 1000 members of the party, including the local government structures of the party, into the APC.

Speaking on why he attended the APC rally, which was outside his own constituency of Udi/Ezeagu, Umeha said it was in solidarity with his friend, Chief Ogbonna, disclosing that another rally that would officially usher him into APC would still come up in matter of days in his local government area, Ezeagu.

The lawmaker however announced that he had already resigned from the Labour Party and registered with APC at his Ward, even as he cited the intractable division within the ranks of his former party (LP) at the national and state levels as one of the reasons for his dumping the party for APC.

Umeha, who is now the first APC member to occupy elective position in the state since its inception in 2014, said his decision to join the ruling party was also “because of the need to connect to the centre and bring our people closer because there are a lot of advantages in plugging to the center.”

He said that the APC has served the interest of Igbos better than the PDP at the federal level, citing the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Enugu-Port-Harcourt Expressway and the 2nd Nigeria Bridge as some of the landmark projects the current ruling party has executed in Igbo land.

The Leader of APC in Enugu state and Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, represented by his governorship running mate during the 2023 general elections, Barr George Ogara, said he was elated by the influx of credible and grassroots persons into the APC in the state.

“It’s indeed time for us to come together to retrieve power from those who have been using it to oppress the people. What is happening here today, the sheer number of defectors has not happened elsewhere in the state before. I urge all of us to remain steadfast because all of us shall be the beneficiaries when victory is achieved,” he said.

Speaking while receiving the defectors, the Enugu State Chairman of APC, Barr Ugochukwu Agballah, said the party was getting primed to take over Enugu’s seat of power, the Lion Building, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027.

Agballah stated that PDP’s dominance of governance of the state for 26 years has only brought tears, anguish and sorrow to the people with high taxations, land grabbing, and demolitions of people’s means of livelihood for the purpose of building motor parks, which ordinarily should be the responsibility of local governments.

He thanked a chieftain of the party from Nsukka local government area, Barr Peter Okonkwo for donating Enugu North Senatorial Zonal Campaign Office to the party and facilitating the collapse of LP structure in Igboeze South LGA.

“Peter Okonkwo is equipped for the redemption of Enugu state and we will not shy away from that task,” he said.

Agballah noted that the defection was unprecedented in the history of decampment in Enugu state since the 2023 general elections, where an entire LGA and wards executive members led by the LP local government Chairmanship candidate in the last LGA election are all declaring for APC.

“It is a total collapse of structure. Today I hand over to you the symbol of our party, our flag; I hand you the broom, which is an insignia of our party and with this broom we are going to sweep in good governance in Enugu state, with this broom we are going to sweep away the reactionary forces that have held our people hostage for 26 years. With this broom we are going to bring back democracy in Enugu state.

“I want to say it here and I want to say it loud and clear to all doubting Thomases, that APC Enugu state is poised to take over the government of Enugu come 2027.”

In his remarks on behalf of other defectors from Ibagwa-Aka local government area, Chief Joshua Ogbonna recounted efforts made by opponents to stop them from defecting to APC; including seizing the buses they hired to convey the people to the venue which made them to resort to using commercial motorcyclists.

“We are more than 1000 that defected to APC today. I’m telling you that work begins today in Igboeze South local government area; it will be ward to ward movement. I’m assuring you that Igboeze South will not come last,” he posited.

2027: Northwest APC endorse Tinubu for continuity

    • Ganduje, Barau say no vacancy in Aso Rock

    • Wike dismisses presidential bid rumour, pledges loyalty to Tinubu

    • Says Fubara remains his political son despite rift

The North West zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday gave its blessing to the second term bid of President Bola Tinubu.

Party stakeholders, rising from a meeting in Kaduna, said they were all for the President ahead of the 2027 election.

National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, said at the meeting that there was no vacancy in the State House.

In Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike pledged loyalty to the President, debunking claims that he (Wike) was warming up for the 2027 presidential race.

At the Kaduna meeting of the APC stakeholders yesterday were governors from the zone elected on the platform of the party – Uba Sani (Kaduna), Nasir Idris (Kebbi) and Umar Namadi (Jigawa).

Also present were House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Ministers from the zone, party chairmen of state chapters, state and federal legislators, as well as heads of federal agencies and senior political appointees.

Deputy Senate President Barau started it all when he mounted the rostrum and asked the gathering “Aso Rock?; to which the crowd responded with shouts of  “no vacancy”.

Continuing, he said: “So it is clear that in 2027, we are going to have a landslide victory, insha Allah (by God’s grace).

“So let us continue on the way we are going. Let us continue to cooperate with one another, work with the President, work with everybody, cooperate with one another so that we can have the desired victory.”

He said the continued defection of notable politicians from the opposition to the APC was on account of the performance of President Tinubu in addressing the challenges bedeviling the country.

“This is not happening just for nothing. There are reasons for this. What are the reasons? Number one is the performance of our dear President. The President, of course, inherited a lot of challenges bedeviling our country, but he has come up with programmes and policies to surmount these challenges.

“Security challenges, economic challenges, name them. We’ve seen how he has dealt with our problem, our security problem—the insecurity we’ve been facing in the North West. Several areas were not accessible before now. You could not go to some areas before now.

“But now you can go to some places, you can travel from Abuja to Kaduna. This was quite impossible before he came to power.

“Similarly, before this administration, you could not go to Birnin Gwari, but life has returned to the area. The people have returned to their farmlands

“Several areas that were not accessible are now accessible. We know we are not where we want to be. We are not there yet. We are not finally there yet. But it’s work in progress.

“Mr. President is working hard day in and day out to surmount this country’s insecurity problem, particularly in the North West. It is work in progress.

“It is easy to have problems, but it’s not easy to solve the problems.

“And, of course, that is not alone. That is not the only reason why we are having this influx into our party. The performance of our governors; our governors are doing well, working day in, day out,” he said.

He added: “The chairman, the national chairman of our party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is leading all the party leaders in the country to bring about these improvements we are witnessing in APC. We are all here as brothers and sisters.

“So let us continue to cooperate amongst ourselves, work amongst ourselves, do all that is humanly possible to bring about the needed development to our people so that our party can grow stronger and stronger.

“So that by 2027, we will not have any problem in making sure that we have the expected victory that we are beginning to see. Because as we speak, it looks as if you don’t have any other political party in the country, or even in the Northwest. So it is always said.”

National Chairman of the Party, Dr. Umar Ganduje, said the President remained committed to the development of the North West, the entire northern region and Nigeria by extension.

He said the commitment has been demonstrated through his numerous intervention projects ranging from infrastructure to agriculture and social development across the North.

He described the establishment of the North West Development Commission as a clear indication of the President’s love for the Northwest.

He said: “We have started seeing the light at the end of the tunnel”, and therefore there will be no vacancy in Aso Rock Villa in 2027.

Speaker Abbas, who moved the motion for the endorsement of the President, said the defection of stalwarts of the opposition to the APC was an indication of the growing confidence of Nigerians in the party and President Tinubu.

“To enhance our election efforts, it is crucial to strengthen grassroots mobilization at the local level. Furthermore, as we look to the future, we must continue to integrate and involve more young people and women in the party, as they comprise a significant portion of the population.

“Their involvement is crucial for achieving future political success.”

He added: “At the National Assembly, we are committed to championing legislation aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, advancing bills on infrastructure financing and development, security reforms, and incentives for the digital economy.

“This support has been pivotal in passing landmark measures, exercising robust oversight over the executive and representing the interests of our people.

“With the 2027 general election approaching, we must intensify grassroots mobilisation, consolidate our legislative gains, and engage new constituencies, especially youth and women, through empowerment programmes.”

As the meeting was winding up, host Governor Sani invited Abbas and Barau to move for the vote of confidence and endorsement of the President.

The motion was seconded by Governor Umar Idris of Kebbi State and followed by voice vote affirming the endorsement.

In a  communique read by Governor Sani, the zone reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC and pledged  ‘’full support for President Tinubu’s vision to deliver prosperity, equity, and lasting change for all Nigerians.”

It commended the President for his “purposeful leadership, bold reforms and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress, especially in the North West zone.”

It said: ”Under President Tinubu, security in the North West has significantly improved, enabling farmers to return to their fields and communities to regain peace and stability.

“’Our zone enjoys unprecedented federal representation with 12 ministers, key National Assembly positions, and top security appointments – a clear sign of inclusiveness and recognition.’

“Major infrastructure projects are being completed or are underway across the North West, marking a new era of development in our region.

“APC continues to grow in strength, unity, and national appeal, due to Nigerians’ appreciation of the President and our APC Governors.”

Wike: I remain loyal to Tinubu; it’s not true I want to contest 2027 presidential election

Speaking in a BBC News Pidgin interview yesterday, Wike denied speculations that he would be contesting in the 2027 presidential election.

“I will not contest. Why will I contest against someone I’m working for?” he said in response to a question on whether he would join the race if his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), zoned the ticket to the south.

He said he did not know anyone in the opposition who is formidable enough to challenge the President.

“They said they will zone it to the South, let them zone first. When we get to the bridge, we will know how to cross it,” he said.

On his quarrel with his successor as Rivers State governor, Siminilayi Fubara, Wike said he still regarded the suspended governor as his political son.

“That one is not a battle. He (Fubara) is my boy. He is my son. Why will I fight with him?” he said.

“I’m only fighting against people who want to steal what they did not work for.

“When you don’t defeat them, they will think you… Defeat them to the final stage.

“Now, they are ashamed because they are being defeated. They are the ones pushing Fubara.”

Tinubu arrives Rome as world leaders gather for Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration

    • Thousands expected as Pontiff leads inaugural mass today

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Rome yesterday evening to attend the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV, the newly elected head of the Roman Catholic Church.

Touching down at the Military Airport in the Italian capital around 5pm local time, President Tinubu was received by senior Nigerian government officials stationed in Europe.

His visit was at the invitation of the Vatican, following the recent election of Pope Leo XIV by the College of Cardinals, making him the 267th Pontiff and Bishop of Rome.

The Presidency had earlier confirmed the President’s trip in a statement issued on Thursday, describing the visit as part of Nigeria’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with the Holy See.

The Vatican, in its formal invitation, emphasised the significance of President Tinubu’s presence at a time of global unrest and spiritual reflection.

In a personal message sent to President Tinubu, Cardinal Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, conveyed the Pope’s deep appreciation for Nigeria’s participation.

“Your presence is significant at this moment of particular importance for the Catholic Church and the world afflicted by many tensions and conflicts,” the Pope wrote, recalling his fond memories of Nigeria.

“Your great nation is particularly dear to me, as I worked in the Apostolic Nunciature in Lagos during the 1980s,” he added.

President Tinubu is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; the Archbishop of Owerri and President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji; Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Abuja and Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins of Lagos.

The inaugural mass marks the beginning of a new papal era and is expected to draw dignitaries from across the globe, reflecting the global significance of the Catholic Church’s leadership transition.

The President is expected back in the country on Tuesday, according to a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

President Tinubu’s attendance underscores Nigeria’s commitment to interfaith dialogue, religious diplomacy and global peace efforts.

Thousands expected as Pope leads inaugural mass Sunday

Pope Leo XIV, the first American pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, will lead his inaugural mass on Sunday, according to the Vatican.

The mass, called the Holy Mass for the Beginning of the Pontificate, will begin in Vatican City on Sunday at 10 a.m. local time (4 a.m. ET), the Vatican Press Office said.

Before the start of the mass, Leo will wave to the tens of thousands of people expected to be in the crowds, according to officials.

The mass, which will be held in St. Peter’s Basilica, will begin by the tomb of St. Peter, according to Vatican officials.

During the mass, the Petrine Pallium and Fisherman’s Ring will also be presented to Leo, the press office said.

The Pallium — a narrow Y-shaped band woven in white and decorated with two black pendants, six black crosses and three pins representing Christ’s crucifixion — signifies the pontiff carrying on his shoulders the responsibility of shepherding the church.

The Fisherman’s Ring, a gold signet ring, symbolises the new pope’s role as the successor of St. Peter, a fisherman who is considered to be the first leader of the church, according to the Vatican Press Office.

The ring signifies the beginning and the end of a pope’s authority, with Francis’ ring ceremonially broken after his death. Catholics who meet the pope traditionally kiss the ring to demonstrate both their respect for the pontiff and their devotion to the church.

Leo will then deliver a homily, followed by a prayer, called the Regina Caeli, according to the Vatican. The event is expected to be approximately over two hours, officials said.

After the Regina Caeli, Leo is expected to greet delegations and guests, the Vatican said.

A wide range of global political leaders and dignitaries will attend the Pope’s inaugural Mass, reflecting the new pontiff’s international significance. Below is a list of notable attendees and their affiliations:

    JD Vance, U.S. vice president

Marco Rubio, U.S. secretary of state

Mark Carney, prime minister of Canada

  • Saraki’s PDP rescue mission faces early storms

Saraki’s PDP rescue mission faces early storms

    • Power blocs in fresh plots as more defections loom

    • Legal landmines threaten party’s revival bid

The Senator Bukola Saraki-led committee set up by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to revive the party is already facing threats that could derail its assignment.

An expanded meeting of PDP Governors’ Forum and other stakeholders in Abuja last Sunday night resolved to give Saraki and  former and serving governors the mandate to redress PDP’s weakening chances ahead of the  2027 general elections, put a brake on high level defections, ensure a rancour-free National Executive Committee meeting on May 27 and reposition the party.

However, some PDP stakeholders are complaining that the actions and utterances of some party members are not likely to help the PDP resolve its multiple problems.

Party sources cited the recent threat by the leadership of the South East Zone of the party to defect should the PDP keep preventing the zone’s nominee for the position of National Secretary, Sunday Ude-Okoye, to assume office as replacement for Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

The sources named Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah as the arrow head of the agitators, alleging that it was an excuse for the group to switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Besides, the concerned PDP members fear that the continued crisis over the office of national secretary may lead to technical electoral losses as the party prepares for the February 21, 2026 election in the six councils of the Federal Capital Territory.

The PDP has always won in the FCT but is now facing considerable threat from the APC.

Mbah, along with Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal; Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang; former Bayelsa governor Seriake Dickson; former Gombe governor Ibrahim Dankwambo and former Abia governor Okezie Ikpeazu, is a member of the Saraki committee.

The  Enugu State chairman of APC, Chief Ugochukwu Agballah, who received more than 150 defectors from the Labour Party and PDP within the last one month, has vowed to try to block Governor Mbah from crossing to APC, alleging that APC already has a more competent and capable candidate to take over the state’s Government House in 2027.

Apart from widespread speculations about  the likely defection of Governor Mbah and at least one northern governor from the PDP, contending blocs within the party are mobilizing their foot soldiers  and legal brains in preparation for confrontations that may threaten  the objectives of the Saraki Committee.

Said a party source: “It has continued to seem as if every step towards finding solution is swiftly followed by a step towards perdition. If care is not taken, vested interests, proxy wars, subsisting court judgments and looming entanglements with difficult legal hurdles and more defections appear set to weaken PDP further before 2027.”

Also, following the alleged provision of ‘housing loans,’ by one of the governors opposed to Senator Anyanwu’s retention as  National Secretary, 83 employees at the PDP national secretariat have filed a petition with the party hierarchy to express their opposition to Anyanwu.

The letter dated May 14, 2025 and entitled ‘Clarion Call for Stability and Survival of Our Party, PDP” has thrown the entire staff at the PDP national secretariat into the storm that used to be a proxy war for party heavyweights only.

The Zonal Secretary of the PDP in the South East, Mr. Emmanuel Mba, said Governor Mbah  and his supporters who are  now being defined as ‘South East PDP stakeholders” should just take their exit from PDP instead of expecting the entire South East to go with them on the basis of their  demand for replacement of Anyanwu.

Giving in to their demand, he said, would only trigger too many legal hurdles that could cause more trouble for the party.

“The issue here that we are talking about is somebody was elected as national secretary at the {national} convention; he has a four-year tenure which ends in December 2025; he wrote to the party for leave of absence to run for an election and returned to his position.

“But while he was away, a group of guys in Enugu led by Governor Peter Mbah, who is supposed to focus on the governance of Enugu State, said they want to remove him and bring somebody,” he said in a television interview in Abuja.

He added: “That you are threatening to leave the party does not mean we should do the wrong thing and succumb, because that would be destroying the party completely.

“Because if we allow somebody that is not elected to sign a document on behalf of someone that is elected, it is a call for disaster, a call for any opposition to go to court and invalidate our nominations.

“So, this is a constitutional thing. If you want to defect to the APC, you don’t need to threaten us that you want to defect.”

Also speaking a three-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Teejay Yusuf, said although the Saraki committee balances various interests within the PDP, powerful forces within the party were still hell-bent on taking huge risks solely to try to counter one another’s influence.

“We are in opposition but we are consciously laying booby traps for ourselves and there are genuine reasons to be very nervous about the PDP NEC meeting scheduled for May 27,” Yusuf told The Nation in Abuja.

He said: “First of all, there was the Supreme Court ruling on the National Secretary position, which is being arbitrarily misinterpreted. And there is a Federal High Court judgment that cannot be vacated but the governors have decided that they would rather recognise someone else as National Secretary.

“While you cannot cherry-pick a court ruling, there are also constitutionally-outlined processes of removal which is not being considered at all. So, why are we going into that kind of crisis when you have only a short time before a national convention where you can remove a National Secretary legally?

“Look at the preparations for the FCT council elections where the council chairmen that PDP had have crossed to the APC to seek re-election, because they said that if the wrong person signs their nomination papers for INEC, somebody in the opposition will simply go to court and quash it on the grounds that they were not duly nominated. Why are we taking such risks?”

Meanwhile,  a prominent lawyer,Professor Yusuf Ali (SAN) yesterday said the Registrar of JAMB,Professor Ishaq Oloyede has what it takes to handle the disruptions in the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in parts of the country.

A total of 379997 candidates in Lagos,Imo,Anambra,Enugu,Ebonyi and Abia states were affected by the disruptions which Oloyede called human and technical errors.

He apologised for the development and rescheduled the examinations beginning from yesterday.

Some critics called for his resignation.

However, Ali, his close friend of about 50 years, attested  to  his honesty, integrity, transparency, incorrupbility, human empathy and selflessness”

He said :“I dare say that, the path he had chosen on this unfortunate matter of admitting that there were mistakes, owing up and showing genuine empathy to the victims of this unfortunate  event, is a rare occurrence in our part of the world.

“Oloyede has shown that those who operate in our national space are also fallible like all humans and that perfection belongs only to Almighty Allah.

“He has shown candor, honesty, transparency, humanness, and leadership by accepting full responsibility for acts of others because he happens to be the head of the organization.

“We that know Oloyede closely, can attest to the sleepless nights he usually has, at least three months before any of these examinations, moving physically, sometimes at very unreasonably hours of the day to visit the various offices of JAMB all over Nigeria in preparation for these examinations.

“No serious leader will abandon his people at the time of a crisis, which is what his resignation at this point will translate to. This unfortunate  incident happened under his watch and it makes a lot of sense that he should not abandon ship but be manly enough to see to the end of the problem. Good leadership is not about taking flight when negative issues arise.”

Tinubu arrives Rome for Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Rome on Saturday evening to attend the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV, the newly elected head of the Roman Catholic Church.

Touching down at the Military Airport in the Italian capital around 5:00pm local time, Tinubu was received by senior Nigerian government officials stationed in Europe.

His visit comes at the invitation of the Vatican, following the recent election of Pope Leo XIV by the College of Cardinals, making him the 267th Pontiff and Bishop of Rome.

The Presidency confirmed the president’s trip in a statement on Thursday, describing the visit as part of Nigeria’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with the Holy See.

The Vatican, in its formal invitation, emphasized the significance of President Tinubu’s presence at a time of global unrest and spiritual reflection.

In a personal message sent to President Tinubu, Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin conveyed the Pope’s deep appreciation for Nigeria’s participation.
