    Coker-Aguda presents N11b budget

    The Chairman of Coker-Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Azeez Ogidan, has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill, tagged “Budget of Inclusive Growth,” to the 6th Legislative Council.

    Presenting the budget—valued at over N11 billion, Ogidan stated that the proposal reflected the council’s commitment to deepening grassroots development.

    He emphasised that the 2026 fiscal plan will prioritise healthcare, road infrastructure, education, empowerment initiatives, and social development, among other key sectors.

    He reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to transparent governance, people-centred development, and the accelerated delivery of democratic dividends to all residents.

    Ogidan noted that the budget was designed to address the yearnings and aspirations of the community.

    The chairman announced that the council would intensify efforts to boost its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), stressing that revenue expansion is critical to successfully implementing the budget.

    Leader of the House, Afeez Sulaiman, praised the chairman for presenting a development-focused and forward-looking budget.

    He assured that the legislative arm is fully committed to ensuring the speedy and thorough passage of the appropriation bill.

    The event was attended by the Vice Chairman, Matthew Olaleye; traditional rulers; the Acting Council Manager, Mrs. Aminat Oyenuga; the Council Treasurer, Mrs. Taofeekat Paramole; as well as other top management staff, stakeholders, and community leaders.

    The Eti-Osa Local Government has held a budget retreat at Daval Spring Hotel, Ikorodu.

    The event brought together political office holders, management staff, departmental and unit heads, and key stakeholders to harmonise development strategies for the new fiscal year.

    Chairman of the council Omo’ba Adeola Adetoro, said the retreat reviewed departmental and unit proposals, assess performance indicators from the outgoing year, and develop realistic targets for 2026.

    The session, she said, was designed to promote transparency, fiscal discipline, and effective allocation of resources.

    Adetoro highlighted the administration’s achievements within the first three months, including the hosting of a summer vocational coaching programme, distribution of free GCE forms, and the organising free medical outreach. She emphasised the importance of the six-point HEYIGA agenda – Health, Education, Youth and Women Empowerment, Infrastructure, Greener Environment, and Agriculture – and urged participants to accord the programme the necessary sacrifice, dedication, and courage to achieve remarkable feats by the end of 2026.

    “The retreat was interactive and goal-driven, with a focus on deepening inter-departmental synergy, sharpening the collective vision, and renewing the shared commitment to advancing the development of Eti-Osa Local Government,” she said.

    The Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Oluwafemi Oduanyo Daniel, has presented a proposed 2026 budget of N9,675,516,606.25, with a strong focus on infrastructural development, economic growth and human capital advancement.

    Presenting the budget, tagged: ”Infrastructural Development,” Daniel said his administration is commitment to driving growth, improving productivity and enhancing healthy competition within the council area.

    He noted that although his administration is barely over 100 days in office, several laudable achievements have been recorded, attributing the successes to the unwavering support of residents.

    “The proposed budget prioritises road construction, drainage works, school development, healthcare facilities, youth empowerment and support for widows and vulnerable groups. Several roads projects have commenced, while efforts are ongoing to improve security, market operations, environmental sanitation and skill acquisition programmes for youths,” he said

    He urged residents and party members to obtain and replace their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), stressing the importance of grassroots participation in governance and support for the ruling party ahead of future elections.

    The Council Leader, Andrew Agbeyangi, pledged support to the executive to ensure the dividends of democracy reach the people.

    He described the budget as people-oriented, noting that it addresses critical needs such as road construction, drainage desilting, school development, healthcare improvement and welfare for all segments of society.

    “The legislative arm would diligently scrutinise the budget through retreats and oversight to ensure fairness, transparency and effective implementation for the massive development of Itire-Ikate LCDA,” he said

    The Ojokoro Local Council Development Area has donated five modern security patrol vehicles to the police.

    The council chairman, Oluyemisi Rosiji, said the gesture was meant to enhance policing operations across the LCDA.

    She said the presentation of vehicles was a “declaration of our commitment to the safety, peace, and wellbeing of the people. Security is the foundation of every thriving community. Without it, progress is hindered, and development is stalled.

    “We are commissioning these vehicles today to strengthen surveillance, enable faster response times, and support law enforcement agencies in their duty to protect lives and property. This is a bold and proactive step and one that aligns with our administration’s vision for a safer Ojokoro. Security is a shared responsibility. While we continue to provide support at the local level, we call on our residents to cooperate with security agencies, report suspicious activities, and remain vigilant.”

    Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, hailed Rosiji for her exceptional leadership and proactive support of security agencies.

    He highlighted the remarkable peace and stability enjoyed within Ojokoro during his one year in office, attributing it to strong collaboration between the police and the local government.

    The CP urged monarchs, community leaders, and residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and join hands with security forces in ensuring continued peace.

    The Chairman of Ojo Local Government Area, Princess Muhibat Rufai-Adeyemi, has presented her scorecard for the first 100 days in office.

    Speaking during a briefing, Princess Rufai-Adeyemi said her administration programmes were anchored on WHACES Agenda, focusing on Work, Health, Agriculture, Capacity Development, Education, and Sustainability.

    According to her, 1,000 women have been empowered over with N100,000 each.

    She stated this at a news conference held to present her administration’s achievements Princess Rufai-Adeyemi said the cash support was offered to enable the women boost their small scale businesses and financial independence.

    She explained that the empowerment was part of her aimed at driving progress and development in the local government.

    She said: “This administration commenced the rehabilitation and reconstruction of some roads across the council. Multiple boreholes were rehabilitated to enhance access to clean water in Ira, Tedi, Ojo Town and Muwo. The construction and equipment of Primary Health Care Centres in Taffi and Ajangbadi and launch of an e-Birth Registration for seamless collection of birth certificates has been accomplished.

    “An intensive breast cancer screening for over 500 women has been accomplished and polio vaccination is ongoing in the communities to protect the children. Widows, senior citizens, and vulnerable families have benefitted from targeted relief programmes across the council area.”

    The chairman said free feeding programmes in all primary schools, free GCE forms to indigent students, free ICT and digital literacy training for over 100 youths were also accomplished.

    “Spelling Bee competition, screened indigent students for bursary award has been actualised too. The funds of successful students will be paid into their accounts soon,” she said.

    The chairman announced that her 100-day celebration would feature free medical outreach, graduation for ICT and Skills Acquisition trainees, inauguration of Taffi Primary Health Centre, new block of Taffi classrooms, and utility boat for riverine communities, among others.

    She hailed the lawmakers, council management, staff, community leaders, royal fathers and residents for their supports.

    The Council Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has charged Heads of Departments and Unit Heads to be deliberate, realistic, and people-focused in their budget submissions, stressing that governance must directly respond to the needs and aspirations of residents.

    Speaking during the council’s Budget Retreat, Dauda emphasised that the 2026 budget must serve as a practical working document anchored on the I.K.E.J.A Agenda. He noted that the budget should ensure continuity of ongoing projects while introducing new interventions that address pressing community needs.

    According to him, the retreat was designed to promote transparency, stakeholders’ inclusion, and the effective utilisation of public resources.

    He urged departmental leadership to align their operational plans with the administration’s development priorities, adding that prudent financial management and accountability would be key to delivering sustainable outcomes across the local government.

    The retreat was coordinated by the Department of Planning, Budget, Research and Statistics, headed by Dr. Abdul Rasak Yemisi Anita, whose team provided technical guidance and facilitated seamless sessions.

    Earlier, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Ibrahim Obajomo, urged local government authorities to adopt strategic budget planning as a fundamental tool for achieving sustainable development and improving service delivery at the grassroots.

    Obajomo emphasised the need for local governments to align their development plans with the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP).

    The Chairman of Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, Mrs Muhibat Rufai-Adeyemi, yesterday laid before the Legislative Council, N9,800,563,905 budget for 2026 fiscal year.

    It is tagged: ‘Budget of Renewed Hope’.

    The presentation was held at the Legislative Chamber of the council.

    Addressing the councillors, the chairman said the budget was a covenant; a solemn pledge of her administration’s commitment to the vision of a transformed, prosperous and secure Ojo.

    She said: ‘’This budget is our strategic blueprint to consolidate on our gains and aggressively pursue the fulfilment of our promises to you, the people.

    “This Renewed Hope is anchored on the solid foundations we have been building together since the inception of our administration.

    “You entrusted us with a mandate based on our Works and Infrastructure, Health and Social Welfare, Agriculture, Capacity-Development, Education/Library Services & ICT, and Security (WHACES) agenda, and we have pursued it with vigour.

    “Our commitment to easing life and expanding access is evident.” 

    Rufai-Adeyemi assured the people that WHACES agenda would see intensified implementation.

    “We will embark on more road construction and rehabilitation, complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones based on DA priorities, including drainage systems to combat flooding.

    “My administration will ensure the newly-built PHCs are equipped and staffed, and we will expand our health outreach programmes.’’

    Leader, Legislative Arm, Ojo Local Government, Mr Jimoh Ramon,

    said: ‘’We will immediately convene and start work on the budget.’’

    He lauded the chairman for early presentation of the budget to the house.

    The Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Oluyemisi Rosiji, has hosted the grand finale of 100 days in office and 2026 budget stakeholders’ forum.  

    She started the programme by inaugurating the newly-completed roads with pavements, drainages and solar streetlights at Olujola Street, Anifowoshe Street, Ipetu Ilesha Street, Musibau Oseni Street and Asuku Street.

    The chairman also donated five vehicles — four to each of the divisional police stations in Ojokoro LCDA and one to Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC). Additionally, she procured a new motorcycle for the council secretariat to facilitate prompt administrative duties and enhance internal mobility for council operations.

    Residents expressed joy and appreciation, showering prayers and praises on the chairman and her administration for delivering on her promises and transforming their communities within a short period.

    It was indeed an atmosphere of reflection, accountability and renewed commitment at Ojokoro LCDA secretariat, as Rosiji hosted the grand finale of her administration’s first 100 days in office alongside the 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Forum.

    The event brought together a cross section of Ojokoro community — from political leaders and community leaders to market leaders, youth representatives and religious figures — to review the council’s early achievements and deliberate on developmental priorities for the 2026 fiscal year.

    Declaring the event open, the Council Manager, Mrs. Mojisola Akinola, lauded the leadership style of the chairman. She encouraged continuous support for the chairman, describing her as a visionary leader committed to inclusive growth and sustainable progress in Ojokoro LCDA.

    Rosiji expressed gratitude to the people of Ojokoro for their support and reaffirmed her dedication to transparent and participatory governance.

    The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by the Vice Chairman, Tunde Oyekunle, who praised the inclusive governance approach of the administration and reaffirmed the council’s resolve to sustain developmental momentum.

    Badagry West empowers artisans, boosts healthcare

    As part of activities marking his first 100 days in office, the Chairman of Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Rauf Ibrahim Yemaren (RIKAY), has rolled out a massive empowerment programme aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening grassroots economic growth across the council area.

    The event, themed “100 Days of Renewed Hope, Action and Accountability,” witnessed the distribution of vital work tools and business-support equipment to artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs, as well as direct financial support to traders, widows, the aged, and persons living with disabilities. Items distributed included motorcycles (Okada), grinding machines, tiling tool sets, hair clippers with generator units, wheelchairs, welding machines, and other productivity-enhancing equipment designed to promote self-reliance and sustainable income generation.

    In a major boost to primary healthcare delivery, the council chairman also donated medical equipment to five primary healthcare centres spread across the LCDA, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare services at the grassroots.

    The empowerment programme attracted top political leaders and party stakeholders from within and outside the Badagry axis. Leading the delegation was the Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, who was represented by the APC Lagos West Senatorial Youth Leader, Rasheed Gboshe.

    Other dignitaries in attendance included Sesi Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives, Badagry; Setonji David, Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly; Solomon Bonu Saanu; Bamgbose A. Joseph, the Apex Leader of Badagry West, and Babatunde Hunpe, Chairman of Badagry Local Government. Also present were Hon. Joseph Gbenu and Olusegun Onilude, immediate past Chairmen of Badagry West LCDA and Badagry Local Government, alongside several other community and party leaders.

    Yemaren reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, economic empowerment, and people-oriented development, noting that the programme was designed to give residents the tools they need to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.

    Stakeholders who spoke at the event commended the chairman for translating campaign promises into visible action within a short period, describing the empowerment initiative as a clear demonstration of responsive leadership and the true dividends of democracy.

    The 100-day empowerment exercise further underscores the Badagry West administration’s determination to expand opportunities, stimulate vocational growth, and improve the quality of life for residents across the council area.

    Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has successfully concluded a two-day Mega Health Mission.

    The exercise recorded a massive turnout and delivered free medical services to residents at the LCDA Secretariat, as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery.

    Speaking at the programme, the council Chairman, Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for all residents, noting that good health remains the foundation of sustainable development.

    He stressed that the outreach was designed to remove financial barriers and bring life-saving services directly to the people.

    Taiwo accompanied by Oba Morufu Ojoola, the Ojon of Ejigbo and Ijon Land, inspected various service points and interacted with medical personnel and beneficiaries, demonstrating strong collaboration between traditional and government institutions.

    Residents benefitted from free screenings for hypertension, diabetes, malaria and HIV, as well as general medical consultations, eye examinations and dental services. Many beneficiaries commended the council for providing specialised services that are often expensive and inaccessible.

    To ensure continuity of care beyond the outreach, officials of the Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme were also on ground to enroll residents into the state-supported health insurance programme at no cost.

    The second day recorded increased participation as awareness spread across communities, with the introduction of prostate and cervical cancer screenings, follow-up eye treatments, extended dental care and other specialist services to meet growing demand.

    Health officials described the outreach as timely and impactful, noting that it promotes early disease detection, prevents avoidable health complications and encourages healthier living among residents.
