    Council chief hails First Lady’s Renewed Hope project

    The Chairman Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mrs Omolola Essien has applauded the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for launching Renewed Hope Initiative.

    Mrs Essien said the project would have great impacts on Nigerians when fully takes off.

    Senator Tinubu during a meeting with the Governing Board of the Initiative assured Nigerians that the Renewed Hope Initiative of her office will bring succour and relief to families in the country when it fully commences.

    The Lagos Mainland council chief urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, stating that Nigerians would not regret having them at the presidency.

    She said: “Nigerians will be marvelled at the transformation Mr President will bring on board. Likewise, the First Lady, she has a lot of humanitarian programmes for the masses especially the womenfolk. She is going to impact on all the six geo-political zones in the country.

    “In Lagos, millions of youths, middle-age and aged people benefitted from her welfare programmes all through her years as First Lady of Lagos State and while she was in the Senate. She is very passionate on giving back to the society and always strives in all ways to make things easy for Nigerians.

    “She has broad knowledge of the poverty level in the country; she knows the pain of the downtrodden.  Nigerian women shouldn’t take her for granted because they will be surprised by humongous impacts of her humanitarian project.

    “You are going to see a different first lady even different from when she was in Lagos but the difference will be more great impact.”

    The Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Dr Ahmed Apatira has given account his stewardship.

    Apatira reeled out his achievements over the years.

    He said his administration has strived to fulfil commitment to improving the lives of the community members.

    He stated that the council achieved sustainable development in education, empowerment and health, among others.

    Speaking on the projects his administration embarked on, he mentioned road reconstruction, rehabilitation and repair, reconstruction of Itire-Ikate Customary Court, renovation of the council secretariat; renovation of Duro-Oyedoyin Primary School and Annual Medical Outreach amongst others.

    He, however, acknowledged that there is still much work to be done.

    “Our commitment to serve the people remains unwavering; we are determined to build on these accomplishments to take our council to greater heights,” he said.

    Apatira expressed his gratitude to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Itire-Ikate Leaders’ Forum, the executive, management and legislative arm for their unwavering support and trust.

    “Our achievements would not have been possible without your active participation and encouragement.Together, let us continue on this journey of progress and prosperity for our beloved LCDA,” he said.

    Oriade unveils projects to mark anniversary

    Two multi-million naira buildings constructed by the Chairperson of Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Ramotallai Akinlola-Hassan have been inaugurated as part of activities commemorating her second year anniversary in office.

    The multi-purpose ultra-modern Town Hall built for residents of Ikaare Community, an Island located on the Lagos-Badagry waterways.

    The hall, named in honour of First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was completed within eight months.

    It is said to be first of its kind to be constructed within a short period by a council chairman in Lagos state.

    The council boss also opened an office complex sited within the council secretariat.

    The Three-in-one building named after late father, Chief Yinusa Adisa Akinlola, will be occupied by the officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) and Community Development Committee (CDC).

    Akinlola-Hassan also presented gift items and cash support to residents, retired members of staff, redeployed management staff and former politWhile a total number of 250 residents received the sum of N50,000 cash each, others got undisclosed amount of cash with standing fans added to that of the retirees.

    “On the cash gift, 250 residents will get the sum of N12.5 million, N2.3 million for 23 retirees; 22 management staff to get N2 million and another N2.2 million for 11 former political office holders,” she said.

    She said the construction of the town hall in Ikaare was in fulfillment of her campaign promise to the community.

    She announced a donation 20 standing industrial fans for the hall.

    While handing over the hall to the residents, the council chaiman, urged them to take good care and protect it from vandals and looters.

    She said: “Today, we are using this ante hall to mark our second year in office. It is your property; you have to maintain it because government property belongs to you. Community leaders should ensure that people don’t vandalise it. Let’s maintain it so that next generation would also find useful.”

    Akinlola-Hassan, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, promised to supply all the required desk and benches needed in the only public primary school in the community, having been informed by the traditional ruler of the town Oba Kayode Akinyemi that the pupils do sit on the floor.

    Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by Prince Bayo Osiyemi, thanked all the traditional rulers and chiefs in the state for their support for the victory of the Governor and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the last polls.

    He commended Akinlola-Hassan for her giant strides in providing the dividend of democracy to the residents, noting that the warmth reception by the people was a testament to her good performance.

    Osiyemi, who is the immediate Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs, said the state government will soon roll out palliatives measures to cushion the effect of the pain of the removal of fuel subsidy.
