  • Something close to the original

    Something close to the original

Searching for greener pastures? Yes, everyone dreams of something good and wonderful. We all have standards and it’s great if we find what we want or something close to the original.

Unfortunately, Rebecca has been crisscrossing the emotional zone without getting to the proverbial promised land in her search. “Most times, I wonder what is always happening to me. I have discovered that I do not love the people I fall in love with. On the other hand, I find that the people that I love or really admire are already hooked up. They have people that they treasure and they don’t usually care about my feelings towards them.”

Well, sometimes we do not find what we really want. When you get to this realization, then you just have to move on and not stay glued to someone that you know you can never get or have.

Alternatively, you can come down from your emotional heights, and take another look at the heart that is available. It could just be a trial and in that space, you either find something special or discover that it just won’t work.

Sometimes, all you need to do is to focus on the good sides of the person who cares about you and make the love idea reciprocal. If you do not move on and make the best of your emotional situation, then you are going to be caught in an emotional cobweb that may lead to depression.

Fear, love, jealousy, pride, vanity, and resentment. These are some of the emotions that we are faced with on a daily basis, whether we like it or not. The mind can be very adventurous when it comes to love matters. While some can stick to a particular relationship for so long and do things that would make it look new as the years roll by, there are others who are very adventurous.

Like the mouse pad, love is just a click away. The person in question is always experiencing some excitement, a burst of emotions at any time. As soon as the present emotion fades away you can be sure that something fresh and new will take its place soon.

For this group, no single emotional response can be permanent. This relates to the other kind of emotions too. For instance, when any emotion, such as anger, is experienced, the person is likely to stay angry only for some time; eventually, the anger will fade away and a fresh emotion will arise.

Interestingly, an abundance of good feelings, and emotional satisfaction, become the criterion for a successful life. However, emotions present problems for the mind (which is just the personality). When emotions become intense, they neutralise intellectual concerns. In fact, common negatively-valued emotions such as self-pity, fear, and anxiety, as well as moods like depression, actually tend to inhibit rationality – in particular, intense anxiety seems to produce a mental fog in one’s mind, making it impossible to study.

Experts also advise that it is important to understand the nature of emotions if we really want to forge ahead and make our relationship work. This is because it has profound implications for psychotherapy.

Interestingly, a lot of people think that their feelings are the same as emotions. This is not true because there are fundamental differences between feelings and emotions. There are a multitude of emotions, but only three feelings. These include the pleasant one, the unpleasant one, and the neutral one. The importance of feelings is that they help give rise to emotions, that is, the bases of all emotions are the three feelings.

Sometimes you can keep emotional hope alive in the face of certain odds. “Midway into the relationship, things just went upside down and I thought it was all over. However, I made up my mind to play along because I loved her so much. She continued to date the other guy who turned out to be a Casanova. When she realized that I was the one that genuinely loved her, she ran back to me.”

So how did he survive during the hurting period? you wonder. “Well, I must confess that it was really tough but I was determined to make it in spite of the odds. I filled my heart with memories of some of the happy moments we shared together just before the emotional crisis. His ever-smiling face, sexy eyeballs, and loving smile encouraged me to bank on luck.”

When the emotional matter is more than a fling, then you would discover that a lot of people who are busy, successful, and inspiring sometimes have issues with their partners in their lives.

The big question, therefore, would be whether being successful reduces the amount of emotional current you give. Are you likely to be selfish and self-centered?

Your environment, level of exposure, and age also determine how you feel. A medical doctor explains the state of mind of young girls going into puberty as anxious and adventurous. “At this age, it is normal to feel curious, anxious, and ashamed, especially if you are the only girl in the house. I also have a case of someone who was happy because she was going to wear a bra. Others are ashamed and they wear double vests to cover the bump. Some of the changes include menstruation, pubic hair, pimples, growing by the hips, nipples, and other internal organs.”

She adds: “Mood swings also occur and the sex hormones are responsible for sexual maturity.  Here the young ones need information to guide them from irresponsible people who would want to take advantage of them.”

Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Highway for completion next month, says Fashola

The Federal Government yesterday reassured that work on the Kaduna-Zaria-Kano highway will be completed before May 29.

Works and Housing The Minister Babatunde Fashola dropped the hint yesterday during a pre-inauguration inspection of the highway.

The section of the highway is part of the 375.4-kilometre Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano project awarded during the first tenure of the Buhari administration.

Fashola said the section would be completed and inaugurated before President Muhammadu Buhari will bow out from office next month.

The reconstruction of Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano  Expressway is divided into three sections.

Fashola, who said that the second and third sections covering 210 kilometers were almost completed, section one from Abuja to Kaduna will be left for the incoming administration to undertake.

“Section I (Abuja-Kaduna) will continue beyond the tenure of this administration, we lost about a year in 2022, due to criminal activities and rights of way,” he added.

The minister listed the relocation of buildings, electricity installations and markets as some of the issues that slowed down the completion of the project.

He said: “All we need is to collaborate with Minister of Federal Capital, governments of Niger and Kaduna states, to enable the work move faster and smoothly.”

Similarly, the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, disclosed that the second Niger Bridge has been completed and ready for inauguration.

Describing it Buhari administration’s third legacy project, Gambari commended the President for making resources available for infrastructure development across the country.

The Managing Director, Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, Aminu Umar-Sadiq, explained the involvement of his agency in the funding of some federal projects.

He said apart from funding, it was important to resolve issues of right of way and security for the projects to proceed according to schedule.

  • Lost in the web

    Lost in the web

Biodun is a playboy. He likes having adventures here and there. In the process, hearts are broken and mended. For the fun-loving young man, that is the way it should be; no harm intended. No big deal. At the end of each emotional rat race, he withdraws back to the real shell, Doris. That is the girl who makes his heart skip a bit every time; others are just past times. They fill the variety is the spice of life gap and when he gets tired of the counterfeits, then he goes back to the original.

Recently, he ran into an emotional nest that looked very beautiful at a glance. It was mesmerising all the way. This beautiful city chic had what any guy would fall for. Moyo was elegant and intelligent. She had a great apartment, nice cars and the right connections. Her qualities and friends made her magnetic; the kind of girl any man would want to date. In a short while, Biodun and Doris painted the city in colours. They were seen almost everywhere together. At this point, her friends concluded that she had finally captured his heart.

Unknown to the lover boy, Moyo desperately needed Biodun to complete her personality. Her dream was for him to abandon Doris who had been a major threat to their relationship all this while. The agenda here is to get married to him and make this dream a reality as soon as  possible.

Even if he decides to abandon her for the other woman, she could just get pregnant and be his baby mama. That for her would be a fair deal. In her late 30s, motherhood is the greatest thing that could happen to her now. Initially, the great lover boy was oblivious of the game plan, but gradually he began to smell a rat and being a smart guy, the best strategy was to withdraw completely.

When he did, he began to untie the emotional web and then took to his  heels .The big question here is if he finally escape from her?

Not so easy! The babe pursued her emotional captive round the nooks and crannies causing all kinds of messy scene in the process. The last straw was the day she showed up at a party where Biodun proposed to Doris. The chic-about-town came around with some of her friends and caused  pandemonium. It was meant to be a memorable day, but this emotional spoiler stole the show and Doris cried like a baby.

In anger, Biodun pounced on her like an angry lion. In the midst of the confusion, one of her friends whispered, “Daku”(meaning faint). So, she fainted and there was more confusion. Surprisingly, Biodun remained calm and went out of the venue. Where is the man at the center of this confusion?everyone wondered. Then, he came back again. Interestingly, he heard when the girls plotted, asked her to faint and just played along. Instead of panicking, he went to his car  found his cigarette lighter and relaxed.  When he returned, his friend Tope just kept looking at him, wondering what he was up to and why he looked so unruffled considering the mess he appeared to be in.

He then lit another cigarette and put it close to her ears. Moyo jumped up and it was at that point that everyone realised that nothing was wrong with her. She was only pretending to have passed out. The girls ran out of the place in shame. Thank God it was finally over, now was sure that poor Doris was out of their emotional snare.

The crux of the matter here is that it takes an emotional thief to catch another thief. When you move with two pigs, then you must be ready to dance, walk and talk like one. If you are not same as the emotional character that you are dealing with, then you may just end up being the victim in the process.

We all know that no two relationships are the same. However, there are some things that would help us  have relationships that would endure the test of the time. The first is that you must be flexible with your thoughts and ideas. This does not mean that you have to sacrifice your core values, beliefs and priorities under relationship pressures. The truth of the matter here is that your relationship is likely to spiral downward if you have an “anything goes” policy.

One other way to have an interesting experience is to be a mystery. Unfortunately, some people tend to bore their partners and hang around thinking they would secure them this way. It’s comfortable and cozy when two people know absolutely everything about each other but are more likely to be drawn to a partner who has connections and a passion for life outside the relationship. You also need to remember that a long time relationship won’t flourish if your partner is someone for whom sex is an enlivening essential force and you’re too unavailable.

  • PDP, only party with solution to Nigeria’s problems, says Akindele

PDP, only party with solution to Nigeria’s problems, says Akindele

The Lagos State deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Miss Funke Akindele has indicated that the main opposition party is only the one that has a solution to the problems facing Nigeria.

Akindele said this at a youth programme organised by the Lagos Youths Movement (LYM), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in the Alimosho area of the state. She urged the youths to vote for PDP candidates across the board, saying voting for the Lagos PDP governorship candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) is synonymous to voting for good governance.

Akindele said Lagos is a blessed state that needs to be governed by people that have made their mark in the private sector, adding that she and Jandor were employers of labour with enough managerial experience and capacity to govern Lagos.

She urged the youths to actively participate in the forthcoming general elections because it is their right and responsibility to vote for credible candidates.

She said: “It is our right to participate in the coming election and Lagos because we reside and do business in the state. In the forthcoming general elections,  we must get it right by voting Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as president and Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) as Lagos governor. Enough is enough in Lagos.”

“We need to get ourselves liberated from the hands of the tyranny and oppressors in Lagos. We need an independent governor in Lagos; not a stooge. Jandor and I have never held any political office but had been in private businesses developing talents. With my film organisation, I have nurtured talents that have added value to the development of Lagos and Nigeria.

“We have plenty of youths with talents but the present APC government is not interested in nurturing the talents and making the youths more productive. Mark my word, Jandor’s government will do better than the APC government in Lagos. We will help you in developing your talents beyond your expectations”, said Akindele.”

The deputy governorship candidate said it is time for the youths to take back the country and Lagos. She urged them to persuade their parents, families and friends to vote for Jandor on March 11, when the governorship election is scheduled to take place.

The Convener of the Youths Movement, Miss Dabiraoluwa Adeyinka said that those in government were not representing the interest of Lagosians, particularly the youths. She urged them to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming election.

Adeyinka said that the Jandor/Funke ticket of the PDP in Lagos is the best for the state and that there is a need to liberate Lagos from the ‘oppressors’.

She added: “It is high time the youths took back Lagos from the hands of the oppressors who have been ruling us since 1999. We must vote out the APC come February 25 and March 11. Enough is enough. I want you to take this message, which is a breath of fresh air, to your friends, parents and neighbours.

“We will make strong political statements on those two days through our permanent voter’s card (PVC). Those in government in Lagos and Nigeria are not more brilliant than us. They are in a position to make laws for their own betterment, not in our favour.”

Some youths were also empowered with working tools during the event. Twelve youths were empowered with baker’s mixing machines and sewing machines. Others got photography tools, make-up kits and barbing clippers.

  • Ugwuanyi absent as Atiku campaigns in Enugu

Ugwuanyi absent as Atiku campaigns in Enugu

Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was conspicuously absent at the campaign rally of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar in Enugu on Tuesday.

PDP members in Enugu also rejected the call by the national chairman of the party, Senator Iyiorcha Ayu to reject the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi and vote for Atiku.

Ugwuanyi’s absence may not be unconnected with the decision of the G-5 Governors not to support Atiku until Ayu steps down as national chairman of the party.

However, Enugu Deputy Governor Mrs. Cecelia Ezeilo; members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party; member representing Enugu North, Senator Chukwuka Utazi; Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Toby Okechukwu; Enugu Speaker Edward Ubosi and other notable personalities in the state were in attendance.

Some officials of the State Government were also absent from the rally, indicating the rift between the national leadership of the party and the aggrieved G5 Governors would not end soonest.

However, Atiku, caused a stir at the event held at Michael Okpara Square, when he snubbed Deputy Governor Mrs. Ezeilo who came to greet him after speaking for about 30 seconds at the podium.

The Deputy Governor told the crowd: “Since 1999, we have been doing it and this is not going to be a different case. As we have been doing it, let us do it again.”

However, when she stepped down from the podium and proceeded to the VIP stand and stretched out her hands to greet Atiku, the former vice president disdainfully waved her away. She returned back to her seat without shaking Atiku’s hands.

Also, there was a huge uproar when the PDP national chairman, Senator Ayu called on the members of the PDP in the State to reject LP presidential candidate and vote for PDP.

He said that a vote for Peter Obi’s Labour Party is a vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC), a remark that obviously did not go down well with the party members.

“I want to appeal to you not to be distracted by some people who would be asking you to vote for Labour Party. I say this because a vote for Labour Party is a vote for APC.

“Enugu is PDP and PDP is Enugu State. Enugu has always voted PDP. PDP is your DNA.

“I believe you are still going to vote PDP from top to bottom. Atiku will emerge victorious as president with Ifeanyi Okowa as his vice president,” Ayu said.

Atiku insisted that an Igbo man could only become President after his tenure as president.

He said: “when I came to Enugu few months ago for a town hall meeting, I told you that I am going to be the stepping stone to an Igbo president. And I mean that statement.

“Whether from Southeast or Southsouth, I am going to make sure that an Igbo becomes president after me as president because Igbo is a universal race. That’s why I chose an Igbo man from Delta as my running mate.

“As you can see, Nigeria is geared towards a PDP government. So, the next federal government is going to be formed by PDP. I appeal to Enugu people to make sure that you remain in the PDP so that you be in the mainstream and be part of that government”.

  • Wandering in the desert

    Wandering in the desert

When you think about the desert, the image that readily comes to mind is a state of emptiness. In a love desert you would be thinking of a lost love and trying to fill in the gaps in your own way. It is at this stage that the one at the center of an emotional storm becomes a wanderer. No matter how hard you try, it may just be difficult to get your bearing.

Even when it seems like you have gotten a substitute, you just can’t let go and your mind just keeps wandering and wandering. But you can move on when you forget the negatives and build on the positive emotions that you had in the past. Here

you can scroll down memory lane recalling the sweet memories you encountered here and there to get the emotional peace that you deserve. Dreaming about it would certainly lift your spirit taking you close to the fairy tale stories that you have heard about. Still in doubt? No need to do that to yourself. Relax and cross over a bountiful emotional harvest. The type that happens once in a while and one that brings lots of happiness. Here you would find trees and shrubs of affection growing and churning out love branches that inspires and affects others. From the trees you reap fruits that fill the hearts with tears of joy.

Alternatively, you may find yourself stranded in an emotional desert. Here all you are bound to be feeling is a state of hopelessness, helplessness and rejection. But the big question is what where you hoping to get in this emotional Sahara in the first place. It is obvious that the emotional cargo that you have decided to pitch your tent with is as stranded as you are. No matter how hard you try, you guys aren’t going to go far.

The one you desperately trying to cruise with it has little or nothing to offer and this state of dryness isn’t going to do you anyone any good. To get a better experience, it is better for you to move out of the desert to locate someone who would provide emotional sunshine as well as take you to the next level.

In Coleridge’s Poem, “The Rime of the ancient Mariner the Wandering Albatross is actually referred to as ‘bird with good omen’.  Here we are also told about the metaphor of ‘an albatross around his neck indicating an unwanted burden causing anxiety or hindrance.

Interestingly, in the days when sailing was popular, the bird often accompanied ships for days, not merely following it but wheeling in wide circles around it without ever being observed to land on the water. It continued it flight, apparently not tired, in temptuous as well as modest weather. It is one of the largest birds in the world with the largest wingspan measuring up to about 3.5 meters. From the records, you would also find that the bird is one of the best studied species of bird in the world. Distance travelled each year is hard to measure but one banded bird was recovered travelling about 6000 km in twelve days. They spent most of their life on the wing returning to land only to court a mate and to breed.

The behavior of the bird is also very interesting having a range of displays from screams, whistles, grunts and bill clapping. When courting they actually spread their wings, wave their heads as well as rap their bills together.

Interestingly, these birds the bones from its wings are used to produce needles; tobacco pipe stems fishhooks and flutes that would ultimately churn out romantic lyrics and songs.

Of course, you would agree with yours truly that there are a number of romantic connections with this type of bird. However, if this bird is taken away to a lonely desert, so many things would happen. First it is going to lose its clear white color at adulthood. Life without emotional water can be a nightmare and of course, life in the desert is going to be very lonely.

Instead of languishing in the desert, it is better to take emotional flight with a great pal. On the other hand when you want to take a flight, it is better to seek emotional refuge in a love garden? Here there would be a variety of fruits to choice from and you would certainly get something you desire.

Conversely if you are in an emotional desert, all you would find are dry bones.  Nothing good is ever going to come out of this kind of relationship because the environment is stiff and the dust of confusion won’t take you far. You would definitely be far from your low height and all the lullabies that you are used to won’t sound nice in this environment. To make a headway this lovebird must move out of this environment to a better environment to look and feel good.

  • How to win elections in Nigeria!

How to win elections in Nigeria!

To start with, election candidacy ought not to be an impromptu decision. For inspiration, we may have to turn to the Western civilization for succour. After all, our social structures and institutions are patterned after theirs.

In the United Kingdom, as in other saner climes, young men and women who participate in school politics – and are interested in running governments – are provided with the ample chance to express themselves in an enabling environment; and they follow through till they graduate from these schools. It’s like a recruitment centre; and they eventually form the bulk of the grooming pool. It’s out of this pool that future leaders are chosen. Of course, that’s why it’s customary: when you see candidates aiming to become prime ministers in the UK, they are products of certain Ivy League schools. So, it’s like the tertiary institutions in the West actually helping to groom the leadership class from which society decides who runs the race.

Elections, by definition, are supposed to reflect the pathway to hopes and yearnings of the people. As such, any attempt to subvert or circumvent the process will be tantamount to committing a crime against humanity. Manifestly, subversion of the people’s will breeds illegitimacy and makes any government that comes to power through that flawed process unpopular, thus crippling its ability to govern effectively, because, whatever the government in question does will not appeal to the popular will of the people.  Therefore, it’s a disservice to anybody who is rigging elections in the first instance, for he or she may end up practically hurting himself or herself. So, the real deal is to have a genuine will to help, improve and develop the society in all its ramifications. That’s the criteria! Obviously, what is important is for the candidate to be educationally sound so that, as a leader, he or she can debate anything with anybody, anywhere, reasonably; not through sophistry. Again, sad that, rather than base a candidate’s recruitment criteria on merit and other concrete attributes, what we actually have are sentiments and other unprofitable concomitants mushrooming as the sacrosanct stuff!

Socrates was once quoted as saying that “until philosophers are kings, or the kings and princes of this world have the spirit and power of philosophy, … cities will never have rest from their evils …” Except we are being immodest, the university system is a pool where the people are really groomed. Impliedly, it is at the level of the students that we should get the best hands to run the affairs of the country. However, since our universities are always shut for the better part of the year, Nigeria is hardly portrayed as a serious country. So, it may not be out of place to say that the kind of products from such a system can only be described as half-baked or, not-baked at all. Of course, that’s why we keep forcing a 70-year-old to come back into politics and contest because the younger fold is not adequately equipped.

If, in a degraded society, nincompoops, running on the wave of popular culture, will always have their way, then, watch out for refined motor park touts, aka Agberos, in the society and their whet appetite for political offices! Sad that even our professors are not helping matters either! While they are no longer interested in research works or theories that are not only novel but also needed for the healthy survival and improvement of the society, they are with each passing day running after research grants, just to do ‘owambe.’

In any healthy competition for political office, the character of the candidate is also central. Therefore, a prospective candidate must have the patience to be able to listen to other people at all times and consider their opinions. He or she must accommodate other people’s views and must not be intolerant of their opinions.  Since it is not a day’s journey, anyone who wants to lead must overtime have done certain things in the society that showed his or her inner intents without the hope of getting a reward. In other words, there must be qualities of humanity in such a contestant; that is, he or she must have records or antecedents that are favourable to the leadership position being aspired. Again, this is where Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), remains unbeatable! Regrettably, those who are closer to the ‘Jagaban of Borgu’ never see him as a teacher, talkless of being a mentor. And that’s where the problem lies!

Candidates standing for elections must be prepared to abide by the rules of the game even as the society must have the right orientation; and it must be sustained! The orientation programme must be on-going, not only before or during elections but also after elections so that it doesn’t become a fire-brigade approach. From the primary school to the university, pupils and students must be exposed to the evils of election malpractices so that every Tom, Dick and Harry will know his or her rights and what’s expected of him or her in an electoral system.

Another critical quality is the structure! Without doubt, party structures must ensure that standards are not compromised. Yes, this is the peak of the pack! For instance, how are the chairmen and secretaries of political parties in Nigeria elected into office? Where are their curriculum vitae? Do they come in because they’re foot soldiers of the party or because they possess the requisite administrative knowledge, which is indeed, different from one to the other? What we are saying essentially is that competence should define the suitability or otherwise of applicants to party offices. A party chairman who doesn’t understand the nuances of public administration can be likened to a square peg in a round hole; none other than a misfit!

Quite frankly, Nigerians must admit that many of the processes of the current electoral process did not start from the right premises. So, we may just have to manage whatever results we get. For instance, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) rejoiced over a pyrrhic victory, following the July 16, 2022 governorship election in Osun State, until the Election Petition Tribunal appropriately scrutinized the process and delivered justice accordingly. From the look of things, nobody imagined that it would be ‘Lanlehin’; that whatever goes around comes around!

As the 2023 General Elections are nearing us by the eyelids, election riggers should watch out! It’s always easy to say that Rome was not built in a day. Of course, that’s true! But then, the initiative to build Rome started sometime; and it was sustained. That’s why we have Rome standing today. In like manner, the lofty intention to have free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria has been initiated. What this demands, really, is for candidates to work hard, not relying on the usual mundaneness of issues like religion, ethnicity or fetish approach to prayers or metaphysics. In truth, prayers and belief systems are very personal issues while coming into politics is public service. After all, God didn’t ask anyone to go into politics. But if there’s anyone who said he’s sent by God to practise politics, let him or her supply evidence to support his or her claim.

Thank God, Osun has now shown that the fear of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) is the beginning of wisdom!

May the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, grant us peace in Nigeria!

Nekede poly probes lady over claim on private part aiding graduation

The authorities of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo state have started probing a female student who attributed the successful completion of her academics to God and private part.

On Monday, a viral TikTok video surfaced on the internet that captured a yet-to-be-identified female student of the institution expressing excitement for the successful defense of her project.

In the video, the lady appreciated God and genitalia for seeing her through graduation.

“Omo, today is the final day. Mehn! Nekede bye-bye. This Nekede stress, it ends today. Nekede stress end today.

“Finally, I’m now a graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede.

“It can only be God ooo. It can only be God and my p*ssy,” she said.

The video caught the attention of the school authorities according to a statement by its registrar, Eucharia Anuna.

The statement reads: “This is to inform the general public that the Management of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, has begun full investigations into the identity of the student who gloated on Tiktok about how she graduated with the help of God and her private organ.

“It is most blasphemous and antithetical that the said student peddled the name of God in her deleterious act.

“Management considers the action of the student as most unacceptable and preposterous. The Federal Polytechnic Nekede prides itself as an institution with high academic and moral standards.

“Both staff and students are quite aware of the consequences of any misconduct. In an unprecedented move, the management, through the various disciplinary committees, had released hotlines through which the students can report any act of exploitation or corruption.

“These committees are diligent in ensuring that any staff or student found culpable is meted with appropriate punishment.

“The despicable post of this supposed student does not, therefore, represent the standard of our institution. The Rector of the institution, being a clergyman, has been very committed and consistent in instilling discipline in our students through seminars, solemn assemblies, sensitisation outreaches and publications.

“When our investigations are over, we shall make our findings and pronouncements public. It is in our purvey to ensure that only students found worthy in learning and character are certified. This is a commitment to which we shall remain consistently resolute.”

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday be in Kano for a state visit.

The state government on Sunday said it was set to receive the president, who is expected to commission at least eight projects executed in the state by the federal government and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
