    Labour Party wins Cross River

    The Labour Party(LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has won Saturday’s election in Cross River.

    Obi scored 179,917 over 130,520 scored by the APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

    The PDP scored 95,425 to emerged 3rd in the race.

    For the National Assembly Elections in the State, Labour Party won only one out of the eight Federal Constituency seats of the State.

    In the remaining seven federal constituency seats, the APC won 5 while the PDP won two.

    For the three senatorial districts election, the APC won two while the PDP took one.

    BREAKING: INEC suspends NASS elections in Port Harcourt

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended National Assembly elections in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area Rivers State.

    The Commission also warned persons bullying and threatening the State Presidential Election Collation Officer and Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Otuoke, Prof. Teddy Adias, to steer clear of the professor.

    The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC),  Dr. Johnson Sinikiem, said the senatorial election in Port Harcourt and  PHALGA II House of Representatives poll was suspended following alleged irregularities.

    Sinikiem, who spoke at the INEC Collation Centre in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, said the commission would conduct thorough investigations to decide the next line of action.  

    On the threat to the life of Adias and his family members, HE explained that persons angry with the professor were ignorant of the functions of the collation officer.

    Sinikiem said: “I want to urge the public and our critical stakeholders to know that the function of a state collation officer is just to collate results of elections conducted at the various Local Government Areas of the State.

    “He is not a supervising presiding officer nor a presiding officer that conducts elections at the polling units. He is only collating results already collated at the local government area level that cannot be changed except by the verdict of an Election Tribunal.

    “I  urge those concerned, to seize forthwith in unleashing threats because his job does not involve accreditation, voting, counting, computation, validation of votes by parties at primary and Secondary levels”.

    Sinikiem called on security agencies including the Commissioner of Police and Co-Chairman, the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security to help in halting attempts to truncate the collation of presidential election results in River.

    Allow INEC to conclude collation of presidential results, says Senate

    The Senate on Tuesday appealed to Nigerians to be calm and allow the Independent National  Electoral Commission (INEC) to complete the 2023 electoral process by declaring all remaining presidential election results.

    The appeal by the Upper Chamber followed a motion by Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe on the floor during plenary.

    The Senate on Tuesday resumed plenary after taking a break to allow for the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly election.

    The Upper Chamber also called on INEC to stick to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, the Constitution and other relevant laws in its conduct during the remaining part of the 2023 electoral process.

    Some agents of political parties on Monday staged a walkout of the 2023 Presidential Election Results Collation Centre in Abuja.

    They called for the suspension of results declaration for the presidential election over allegations that INEC failed to electronically transmit results to its server as promised to enable Nigerians unfettered access to them as promised by it.

    Senator Osita Izunaso of the All Progressives Congress(APC) has emerged winner of Saturday’s Senatorial election in Imo West.

    Izunaso polled 78,349 votes to beat his closest rival and candidate of Labour Party LP, Charles Ahize who scored
    37,029 to come second.

    In Imo East, Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi is leading in the six Local Government Areas so far announced by the Independent National Electoral commission.

    APC sweeps Katsina NASS seats

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared three senatorial seats and nine out of the 15 House of Representatives seats in Katsina.

    The opposition Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) won the remaining six House of Representatives seats.

    In Katsina central, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yar’adua was declared the winner with 153,512 votes against PDP’si Aminu Sirajo, who got 152,140.

    In Katsina senatorial district (Daura zone), the incumbent Senator Ahmed Babba-Kaita of the PDP lost to APC’s Nasir Zangon-Daura.

    Zangon-Daura, a current member of the House of Representatives, got 174,062 votes while Babba-Kaita polled 163,586 votes, according to the Returning Officer, Prof. Umar Sanda.

    In the Southern zone, APC’s Muntari Dandutse, who is also an incumbent House of Representatives member, clinched 203,245 votes to defeat Shehu Garba of the PDP, who received 151,519 votes.

    The results of the National Assembly elections were announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Iliyasu Yusuf-Gobir.

    Benue governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has congratulated all the federal lawmakers elect in the State.

    The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi has been declared the winner of the contest in Ebonyi State.

    The All Progressive Congress(APC) candidate,  Asiwaju Bola Tinubucame second while the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) candidate Atiku Abubakar placed third.

    The results were announced at the Ebonyi Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) in Abakaliki, the capital of the State on Tuesday.

    The Collation Officer for Ebonyi State, Prof Charles Igwe, who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria (UNN) announced the final results.

    He said Obi garnered 259738 while Tinubu got 42402 votes and Atiku scored 13503 votes.

    Ekwunife concedes defeat, congratulates Umeh

    Senator Uche Ekwunife (Anambra Central) has congratulated Senator Victor Umeh for winning Saturday’s National Assembly election in Anambra.

    Ekwunife, in a statement by her Special Adviser, Media, Kingsley Ubani said she has accepted the election outcome, urging her constituents and critical stakeholders to support the Senator-elect as he prepares to represent the people in the 10th Senate.

    She expressed gratitude to God for a peaceful poll and for his guidance and protection throughout the long and intense campaign season.

    Obi sweeps presidential poll in Delta

    The Independent National Election Commission has declared Labour Party candidate, Mr Peter Obi, as the winner of the poll in Delta state.

    Delta Collation Officer, Professor Owunari Georgewill, Vice Chancellor, said Obi scored 341,866 while its closest rival the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 161,600. The APC was placed third with 90,183 votes.

    The Labour Party triumphed in eighteen local government areas including Isoko North, Isoko South, Warri South, Udu, Ughelli North, Uvwie, Okpe, Ndokwa West, Oshimili South, Sapele and Ndokwa East LGA’s.

    Others are Ukwuani, Aniocha South, Ethiope East, Oshimili North, Ethiope West, Aniocha North and Ika South LGA’s.

    The ruling PDP won in seven local government areas clearing Ughelli South, Burutu, Patani, Bomadi, Warri North, Ika North East and Warri South West LGA’s

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi, the winner of the election in Imo State on Saturday.

    The returning officer, Charles Esimone, said that Obi scored 352,904 while Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress(APC) scored 66, 171 votes while Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) got 30,044 while Rabiu Kwankwaso got 1,536 votes.

    Results were collated in 26 out of the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.

    The returning officer said that the results of the Njaba LGA were not collated because of violence.
