ABAK 5 stakeholders declare support for Tinubu, Akpabio, Eno

A group of political stakeholders known as the Concerned Stakeholders from the Abak 5 political bloc of the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District has declared support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.

In a breakfast  meeting in Uyo under the aegis of Concerned Stakeholders of Abak 5, the stalwarts expressed satisfaction with the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.

The meeting, which attracted present and former political office holders, provided a platform for unity and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

They declared readiness to rally grassroots support and ensure a united front going into the 2027 elections, with a clear message: continuity in leadership remains key to sustained progress in Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State.

Speaker after speaker, including the former Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Council, Hon Uko Idiong; former Vice Chairman of Oruk Anam, Hon. Okokon Etiebet; and former Councillor, Hon. Nsikak Idem, expressed confidence in the leadership style of Tinubu, the political vision of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and the developmental strides of Governor Umo Eno in Akwa Ibom State.

Others, including the chapter chairman of the APC, Mr. Akaninyene Ukpanah; Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President, Obong (Barr.) Freedom Ibritam; and Hon. Uduak Friday, APC Women Leader in Ukanafun, emphasised the need for sustained collaboration and political harmony across party lines to ensure stability and development in the region.

“We in the Abak 5 political Bloc of Akwa Ibom Northwest senatorial district declare our support for the second term ambitions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.

“We are made up of the five local government areas of Abak, Etim Ekpo, Ika, Ukanafun, and Oruk Anam. With our votes, we will reelect these leaders who have shown massive capacity to lead the country well,” Idiong said.

The meeting marked a major political statement from the Abak 5 bloc, signaling early preparations and firm support for the leadership team at the federal, senatorial, and state levels.

  • ‘Aiyedatiwa on course’

    ‘Aiyedatiwa on course’

Former Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations in Ondo State, Boye Ologbese has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his remarkable achievements during his first 100 days in office.

He said the ‘OUR EASE’ initiative has transformed the State into the Southwest’s economic hub through the green economy initiative.

Ologbese highlighted the administration’s groundbreaking progress in the Diaspora Smart City initiative and strategic partnerships that have positioned Ondo State at the forefront of Nigeria’s economic transformation

The former commissioner praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s announcement of a landmark partnership with Dangote Group to optimize the Olokola Free Trade Zone development spanning Ogun and Ondo States. This collaboration under the OUR EASE program framework promises to revolutionize the Southwest economic landscape.

“This partnership represents a paradigm shift in how we approach regional development,” Aiyedatiwa stated. “By working with Dangote Group on the Olokola Free Trade Zone, we are creating an economic ecosystem that positions Ondo State as the gateway to Southwest prosperity while generating thousands of employment opportunities for our youth.”

Ologbese noted that this initiative is driving microeconomic growth across multiple sectors while establishing Ondo State as a strategic advantage point for regional economic activities.

He said that, under the leadership of Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa,   Ondo State government was able to create a business integration between Ondo State and Ekiti State, being the first of it kind since the creation of the two states.

Aiyedatiwa and  HE Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji plan to expore the green economy initiative project.

The former commissioner acknowledged the administration’s security achievements through the DAWN Commission, which has created the stable environment necessary for economic growth across the Southwest region. The coordinated approach has resulted in improved security conditions that support agricultural and commercial activities.

Ologbese recognized Governor Aiyedatiwa’s identification of specific challenges confronting Amotekun operations that require immediate attention under the OUR EASE program’s comprehensive security strategy.

The former commissioner praised the sweeping reforms introduced under the OUR EASE program to enhance Amotekun’s effectiveness, particularly in securing agricultural areas across Ondo State.

“Security remains paramount to our administration,” Governor Aiyedatiwa had emphasized. “We are implementing permanent solutions to eliminate security threats on our farmlands, ensuring complete separation of genuine agricultural business from criminal activities operating under the pretense of legitimate farming.”

Prince Ologbese commended this enhanced security framework that aims to achieve complete safety for citizens engaged in agricultural pursuits while boosting the state’s Internally Generated Revenue through increased agricultural productivity.

Drawing from his experience as former Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Prince Ologbese particularly praised the administration’s strategic approach to diaspora engagement. Through collaboration with NIDCOM, the administration has identified significant market opportunities arising from Nigeria’s growing diaspora population.

“Our diaspora engagement activities reveal that Nigerians living abroad want to maintain their cultural food preferences, but current market prices make these items expensive,” Prince Ologbese explained. “Under the OUR EASE program, Governor Aiyedatiwa is scaling up agricultural production to meet domestic and international demand at competitive prices.”

The former commissioner highlighted how the Diaspora Smart City initiative, operating within the green economy framework, strategically addresses this market gap while creating local employment and generating foreign exchange earnings for the state.

Prince Ologbese praised the administration’s comprehensive approach to agricultural development, which includes maximum production increases to meet growing diaspora demand, secured farmland operations through reformed Amotekun strategies, cost-effective supply chains connecting Ondo farms to international markets, and sustainable practices aligned with green economy principles.

These initiatives collectively aim to reduce food costs domestically while capturing premium international markets, creating benefits for both local farmers and diaspora communities.

The former commissioner commended how all OUR EASE program initiatives operate within a comprehensive green economy framework that prioritizes environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and renewable energy integration. He noted that the Diaspora Smart City project serves as the flagship demonstration of how economic development can align with environmental stewardship.

Prince Ologbese highlighted the multi-pronged approach under the OUR EASE program that creates diverse employment opportunities for Ondo State’s youth across agriculture, technology, manufacturing, and service sectors. He noted that the Dangote partnership alone is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, while the agricultural security improvements enable expanded farming activities.

The former commissioner expressed confidence in Governor Aiyedatiwa’s outlined priorities for the next phase, including finalizing operational frameworks for the Dangote Group partnership, launching pilot agricultural security operations in key zones, establishing direct supply chains to international diaspora markets, and expanding green economy infrastructure development.

Prince Ologbese concluded by praising how the comprehensive OUR EASE program approach demonstrates strategic planning, security enhancement, and international market engagement can transform a state’s economic trajectory. He noted that by addressing diaspora needs while strengthening local production capacity, Ondo State is creating a sustainable model for other Southwest states.

“These first 100 days have laid the foundation for Ondo State’s transformation into Southwest Nigeria’s economic and security leader,” Prince Ologbese stated, echoing Governor Aiyedatiwa’s vision. “The OUR EASE program and the Diaspora Smart City initiative represent just the beginning of what will be achieved for the people of Ondo State.”

The former commissioner’s endorsement underscores the broad support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s transformative approach to governance and economic development in Ondo State.

Uzodimma: Igbo should promote peaceful co-existence

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has urged Igbo communities in Lagos State and across the country to actively promote peaceful coexistence.

He also enjoined them to deepen their belief in the Nigerian project and contribute meaningfully to national unity.

Uzodimma, who chairs theProgressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), emphasised that the Igbo have historically invested in the unity and development of Nigeria, often settling and thriving in communities far from their ancestral homeland.

He spoke at a programme: ‘Conversation with Ndigbo resident in Lagos State’ held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island.

The forum, chaired by Prof. Anya O. Anya, a former National Merit Award winner, was witnessed by Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe, Senator Ben Obi and other notable personalities.

Uzodimma, who is also the Chairman of the Southeast Governors’ Forum, said it is time for Ndigbo to begin to reap the benefits of the sacrifices and nation-building efforts made by their forebears.

He said: “Our people have always believed in Nigeria. We have invested in her unity, not just with words, but with action, through commerce, culture, and community building across the length and breadth of this country.

“That investment must not be in vain. We must continue to work together in peace, with confidence in our collective future, knowing that unity is our greatest strength.”

Uzodimma urged Nigerians to recognize the contributions of the Igbo to national progress and called for an inclusive Nigeria where all ethnic groups feel a sense of belonging, justice, and opportunity.

The governor is an active supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He recently moved the motion that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors should endorse him for a second term.

Uzodimma has been an advocate of national unity who has always preached inter-ethnic understanding, tolerance and accomodation.

In particular, he has in the past called for peaceful co-existence between Yoruba and Igbo resident in Lagos in the spirit of national integration and unity.

He also called for cordial and peaceful inter-ethnic relations in the former federal capital, based on mutual respect.

Uzodimma met with his Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo Olu, and other stakeholders to broker an enduring peace between Igbos and their Yoruba brothers.

Uzodimma reflected on the Yoruba/Ndigbo relations when he met with different Igbo interest groups in Lagos amid rising tension as a result of the fallout of the 2023 general election.

The governor described as unfortunate the misunderstanding among some Yorubas and Igbos as a result of political differences, assuring that the situation would normalise.

He noted that although the constitution of Nigeria guarantees the right of any Nigerian to reside in any part of the country, the owners of the land must be accorded the necessary respect.

He traced the relationship between Igbos and Yorubas to many decades, resulting in marriages and business partnerships, saying that he would work towards the renewal and strengthening of that relationship.

Uzodimma urged them not to panic as he would lead a delegation of Igbo intelligentsia and other stakeholders in Lagos to meet with the Lagos State government and stakeholders from Lagos.

Representatives of the various groups in Lagos had also commended the governor for answering their distress call to wade into the crisis of confidence between them and their Yoruba brothers living in Lagos.

  • Coalition forces face uncertain future

    Coalition forces face uncertain future

Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has hinted that he will not be part of any emerging opposition coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Instead, he has declared his intention to once again seek the presidency on the platform of the LP.

In a video circulating on the party’s WhatsApp platform and recorded by a television station, Obi was seen to be addressing a group of young supporters, assuring them of his continued political commitment through the Labour Party.

The former Anambra State governor also suggested that the internal crises currently affecting both the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are being fueled by external interference from the federal government.

He described these divisions as deliberate tactics aimed at weakening the opposition ahead of the next general election.

Responding to a question on which platform he intended to contest the 2027 elections, Obi said, “I will still continue to run in the Labour Party. I’m a member of the Labour Party.”

Answering another question from a youth who was apparently disturbed about what appears to be Obi’s indifference towards the LP’s crisis, Obi said, “What is happening in the Labour Party and the PDP is caused by the government. Quote me anywhere.

“We had a problem in our party before, in the past, (Umaru) Yar’Adua was the president. I went to him then.  He called the (then) INEC Chairman Prof. Maurice Iwu and told him I don’t want any problem in any party. We were forced to fix it.

“But today, in all the parties, there are problems. These are deliberate problems caused by the system. These are some of the things I want to clean up if I have the opportunity. Parties will function very well because you can’t have a system working without a strong opposition.”

He urged Nigerians to take responsibility for ensuring that their votes count, because even if agents are paid by political parties to look after their interests, the ultimate decision about the people’s votes counting rests with voters.

He also urged Nigerian youths and the electorate not to be discouraged because positive change will also be resisted by those who are beneficiaries of the old order.

The former Anambra State governor said that, left to him, there should be a retirement age for politicians seeking public office.

He said by the time the 2027 election holds, he would be 65 years old, and that he would not want to be contesting for elections in his 70s.

Obi’s comments come amid reports of a potential opposition coalition involving political figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and others.

The proposed coalition was allegedly leaning toward adopting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform for 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, a North-Central Region of Nigeria Supporters for Peter Obi, has categorically told the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, to reject the purported vice presidential slot offer by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2027 polls.

Its Chairman, Bitrus Samuel and Secretary Murtala Ndagi, in a statement, raised ethical and political concerns about such an alliance, describing it “as a threat to Obi’s credibility” and the movement for a new Nigeria.

They expressed deep unease over the implications of Obi partnering with Atiku, particularly in light of his political inconsistency in switching political parties.

Samuel said: “The North-Central region of Nigeria supporters for Mr. Peter Obi Group, feel compelled to address a matter of significant urgency and concern regarding the future of our nation and the political integrity of a leader we believe in.

“As the political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve, we wish to caution Mr. Obi against accepting the offer of a vice-presidential role in a proposed joint single-term ticket with Atiku Abubakar.

“Mr. Obi, your unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the upliftment of the Nigerian populace stands in stark contrast to the allegations and controversies surrounding Mr. Abubakar.

“Integrity is paramount in a nation striving for reform and renewal. Your supporters view your integrity as a beacon of hope in a political landscape often characterized by greed and betrayal.

“Moreover, the implications of such an alliance extend beyond personal reputation. It is essential to consider the potential fallout among your supporters, particularly in the North-Central region, where trust in political leaders has been severely eroded by years of mismanagement and corruption.

“Many of us have placed our faith in you as a leader who embodies the values of honesty and accountability. Accepting a vice-presidential role under Atiku’s banner could alienate your base, leaving us disillusioned and disheartened.

“The relationship between Atiku Abubakar and the United States further complicates matters.

“The perception of a leader with such a checkered past could have dire consequences for our collective security and stability.

“As supporters, we have witnessed the devastating impact of corruption on our communities. We have seen how it perpetuates poverty, stifles economic growth, and erodes the fabric of our society.

“We cannot, in good conscience, support a ticket that may inadvertently endorse a legacy of corruption and mismanagement.

“Our collective aspiration for a new Nigeria, one built on the tenets of good governance, must not be compromised.

“We urge Mr. Obi to reflect on the long-term implications of this potential alliance. While the allure of power and political expediency may tempt him to accept the vice-presidential offer, we implore him to consider the broader picture.

“The path to true leadership is often fraught with difficult decisions, and it is essential to remain steadfast in the commitment to the principles that have guided him thus far.”

He concluded by reiterated their continued support for Obi as a symbol of hope, reform, and clean governance, urging him to remain true to the ideals that galvanized the Obidient Movement nationwide.

“We stand united in our quest for a better Nigeria, and we hope that Mr. Obi will choose a path that upholds the values we hold dear.”

Oche appreciates Alia for standing by Benue council bosses

Chairman of Ado Local Government Area Council Engr Sunny Oche has thanked Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia for supporting the 23 elected chairmen and councillors in Benue.

In a statement, Oche praised Alia for firmly standing by the local government leaders during their legal battle to reaffirm their mandates.

He described the Governor as a protective leader who shielded them from the turbulence of Benue’s political arena.

He was reacting to the recent ruling by the Benue State Local Government Election Appeal Panel, which convened at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) House in Abuja.

On June 3, 2025, the appellate tribunal affirmed the elections of all 23 APC chairmen, including Oche.

The panel dismissed the petitions filed against them for lack of merit—an outcome that not only reinforced the legitimacy of the local government leadership but also underscored Governor Alia’s steadfast commitment to democratic governance at the grassroots level.

Oche emphasised that the Governor’s support has inspired renewed determination among the chairmen to work diligently toward his re-election in 2027.

He noted that Alia’s defence of their mandates reflects his loyalty to the people of Benue, who freely and fairly elected their local leaders.

He also commended the Governor’s transformative policies—ranging from efficient resource management to major infrastructural development—which have revitalized the state’s economy and improved living standards.

“Now that the legal disputes have been resolved,” Oche said, “it is time to fully focus on governance. We must strengthen our commitment and redouble our efforts to serve the people at the grassroots, and uplift their standard of living to new heights.”

He further stated that following their victory at the Appeal Panel, he and his councillors in Ado are eager to continue aligning their grassroots governance with Governor Alia’s broader reforms across the state.

“We share a vision of progress, transparency, and service to the people,” Oche affirmed.

He not only acknowledged the Governor’s inspirational leadership but also reaffirmed the collective resolve of Benue’s local government officials to fulfil their promises, support the Governor’s re-election bid in 2027, and work toward a brighter future for the state.

  • The king of the long game: Why Nigeria’s future belongs to patient leadership

The king of the long game: Why Nigeria’s future belongs to patient leadership

    By Idris Olorunnimbe

I was online last week when I stumbled upon a clip that I had first seen a long time ago. There was President Bola Tinubu (GCFR), years before his presidency, defending a decision against detractors that perfectly encapsulates why I call him the King of the Long Game:

“….When I invested Lagos State funds in Econet, they criticised me. But I used N4 billion to bring back N19 billion to Lagos State. So, who really made the better decision? The truth is, when you’re superior to them in knowledge, in intellectual capacity, in professionalism, they do not engage on the issues. Instead, they try to drag you into the mud. And when you wrestle with a pig, you get stained.

…when will I rest from politics? I’ll rest when I free Nigeria.”

That video was recorded circa 2009, before Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), five years before the All Progressives Congress (APC) was formed, and 14 years before he was elected our President. For that long and I dare say even before, he has been working towards his goal. He played the long game. Many things have changed since then but his intention remains the same – to free Nigeria.

To achieve his lifelong dream, he is once again playing the long game. This is evident by the policies his administration is pursuing.

Back to that clip, it reminded me why transformative leadership often looks like recklessness to short-term thinkers. The King of the Long Game understands something critics miss: the most impactful policies require time to mature, like investments that compound over decades.

    The Patience of Visionaries

In our hyperconnected world, where instant gratification often drives decision-making and campaign cycles are every three years, we sometimes forget that the most transformative policies require time to germinate, grow, and ultimately transform lives. The question that should guide every good leader is not ‘what can we achieve by next year?’ but rather ‘what seeds are we planting today that will yield a harvest for generations?’

This long-term perspective is what distinguishes truly visionary leaders from mere administrators. Take Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s introduction of free primary education in the Western Region in 1955. Critics called it ‘financially reckless’’, ‘politically-motivated’, and ‘economically unsustainable’. Yet, that single policy decision created the most educated generation in Nigeria’s history, producing the doctors, engineers, lawyers, and business leaders who would drive the nation’s development for decades.

The children who walked barefoot to those free schools in the 1950s and 1960s became the professors, CEOs, and innovators of the 1980s and 1990s. They raised families who valued education, created businesses that employed thousands, and built the intellectual foundation upon which modern Nigeria stands. Awolowo understood that education is not just a policy, it’s an investment in human capital that compounds over generations.

As Dr. Myles Munroe once said, “Managers think of the next position. Leaders think of the next generation”. That distinction could not be more relevant today.

Similarly, during Tinubu’s Lagos governorship (1999-2007), every major reform faced fierce criticism. Free WAEC and NECO examinations? “Unsustainable”. Jigi Bola? “Pointless”. The Health Insurance Scheme? “Poorly timed”. The BRT system? “A waste of resources”.

Today, Lagos remains Nigeria’s economic powerhouse precisely because of these “controversial” investments. The young professionals driving Lagos’s economy often trace their success to policies that removed barriers when their families couldn’t afford examination fees or healthcare

    NELFUND: The Latest Seed

Now we’re witnessing history repeat itself with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). Since launching on May 24, 2024, it has disbursed N56.85 billion to 298,124 students across 198 institutions- with a remarkable 92 per cent approval rate on over 550,000 applications.

Critics ask why fund education when unemployment is high? Why invest in long-term programs when immediate needs press? This perspective fundamentally misunderstands transformative change. The infrastructure we build today serves this generation. The education we fund today serves the next generation.

Every NELFUND beneficiary represents a future innovator who will not just fil existing jobs, but create new industries. When a brilliant student from rural Kebbi can study engineering debt-free, or a young woman from Cross River can pursue medicine with the guarantee of debt forgiveness after five years of Nigerian service, we are not just changing individual lives- we are building the human capital foundation for economic diversification.

    The Digital Multiplier

What makes this moment unprecedented is the convergence of educational investment with Nigeria’s digital revolution. NELFUND beneficiaries will graduate into a Nigeria where fibre optic cables reach every corner, where 5Gnetworks eliminate geographic barriers to opportunity.

A computer science student in Makurdi can now collaborate with MIT researchers, access Oxford’s online courses, and launch a fintech startup serving West Africa from Nigeria. This is the “digital dividend the exponential returns when brilliant minds have global access through reliable connectivity.

Our young entrepreneurs already demonstrate this potential. From Flutterwave to Etap to Jumia, Nigeria’s digital natives build global solutions. Imagine their capabilities with universal broadband access and comprehensive digital literacy.

    The Compound Effect

What makes President Tinubu’s approach particularly powerful is the compound effect of his policies. Educated parents prioritise their children’s education. Economic opportunities in one generation create investment capital for the next. When combined with digital infrastructure, this compound effect becomes exponential.

Read Also: Tinubu’s economic reforms earn our respect, endorsement for second term – APC USA

The children benefiting from NELFUND today will likely send their own children to better schools, funded by the opportunities their education provided. They will start businesses employing others, pay taxes, fund public services, and contribute to a virtuous development cycle spanning generations.

This same thinking is visible in the recent passage of the long-debated National Tax Reform Package, designed to streamline collections, reduce burdens for SMEs, and improve compliance. Its impact will not only be immediate also clear the fiscal underbrush needed to grow a broader, fairer revenue base for years to come.

    The Harvest Awaits

Critics of patient, strategic leadership often ask for immediate results in a complex world requiring generational thinking. They want quarterly returns on policies designed for decadal impact. President Tinubu understands that true transformation takes time-but in our digital age, it can happen faster than ever before.

The Econet investment that drew criticism returned nearly five times Lagos State’s initial stake. The BRT system that seemed extravagant now moves millions efficiently across Africa’s largest economy. The free examinations that appeared financially reckless unlocked countless minds that drive Nigeria’s progress today.

Just this weekend, President Tinubu inaugurated the first completed section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a bold infrastructural project long dismissed as “impossible” by doubters. When finished, it will connect nine coastal states, boost regional commerce, boost tourism and become a permanent artery for national development- another long bet already taking shape. Real estate proprietors have begun their harvest.

Nigeria’s future is bright not because of wishful thinking, but because of deliberate policy choices combined with digital infrastructure that amplifies human potential. The King of the Long Game has planted the seeds. The digital highways are being built. The soil is fertile. The harvest awaits, and it will be sweeter and more bountiful than we can imagine.

And perhaps this is the clearest sign of all that for President Tinubu, it is not just politics; it is purpose. He will rest, as he said, only when he has freed Nigeria.

Former APC State chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, was appointed chairman of the campaign council, while Rasaq Ajala, chairman of the Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, was named Secretary.

Others appointed include former Lagos State Deputy Governor and current Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, who were named Coordinators for Lagos West Senatorial District, Hon. While addressing the newly inaugurated council, Ojelabi urged members to commence full-scale grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.

He emphasised the importance of showcasing the achievements of local governments under APC leadership to gain voter support.

In response, Campaign Council Chairman Tunde Balogun expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver victory at the polls, stating that their performance would also help strengthen the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Nasarawa APC blasts ex-minister over defection from ruling party

The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described former Minister of Environment, Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, as a mole and an untrustworthy politician, insisting his departure poses no threat to the party.

Reacting to Abdullahi’s resignation from the APC, the party said his exit was a welcome development and would not negatively affect its structure or success.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Lafia by the party’s state publicity secretary, High Chief Otaru Douglas, the APC said it felt a sense of relief and joy over Abdullahi’s departure, adding that his “overbearing influence” would no longer be a burden on the party.

“The APC is a winning team and has no regrets losing him. He was never an asset but rather a liability,” the statement read.

“Since the news of the resignation of the former Minister of Environment from our great party, APC, we have been inundated with calls from the media on the position of the party with regards to what they termed a worst hit on our party.

“Contrary to the views out there, it is compelling, therefore, to state that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state welcomes the resignation of Barr Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, former Minister of Environment, from the party. We are not surprised by this development, as his actions and behaviour had long indicated his disloyalty to the party.

“Barr Abdullahi’s exit is a celebration for our great party, as he had become a liability rather than an asset. His consistent hobnobbing with opposition members and opposition to Governor Abdullahi A Sule’s administration for personal reasons demonstrates his lack of fidelity to the party’s ideals.

“While we wish him well in his future endeavours, we caution any party that might consider welcoming him to beware of the potential political disaster that may follow. His ingratitude and fair-weather approach to politics, staying only when it pleases him and assuming the role of a mole otherwise, make him an untrustworthy politician.

“The Hausa maxim, which posits thus: ‘Better to stay with a thief than a hypocrite, ‘ aptly describes Barr Abdullahi’s actions. We are relieved to be rid of him and wish him farewell.

“The APC remains strong and united, and his departure will not affect our party’s momentum, the statement declared.

Tinubu’s economic reforms earn our respect, endorsement for second term – APC USA

Despite the inherited challenges, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s impressive performance in the last two years is a pointer to better years ahead, the All Progressives Congress (APC) United States of America (USA) Chapter has declared.

The verdict was contained in a statement by the chairman of the chapter, Professor Tai Balofin, in Abuja on Wednesday.

During the two years of the administration, Balofin rated Tinubu 85 percent in a performance scorecard.

According to him, “Tinubu’s economic reforms have yielded remarkable results, including a 111.24% growth in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) and a nearly 500% increase in external reserves, which grew from $4 billion in 2023 to over $23 billion by the end of 2024.”

The chapter commended Tinubu’s bold economic policies, describing them as transformative despite the short-term challenges.

He highlighted the removal of fuel subsidies, which saved ₦4 trillion, and the unification of exchange rates, which attracted $50 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI).

According to Balofin, these reforms were necessary to avert a fiscal crisis that could have led to runaway inflation, external debt default, and a collapsing Naira.

Sympathising with Nigerians over the attendant effects of the various policies, the party urged Nigerians to remain patient, emphasising that the benefits of Tinubu’s reforms are beginning to take hold.

The APC USA Chairman’s remarks came amid mixed reactions to President Tinubu’s mid-term performance, with opposition groups citing persistent inflation and insecurity as major concerns. Nevertheless, Balofin’s scorecard underscores the administration’s focus on economic restructuring, even as it navigates the challenges of public discontent.
