Leonardo will be tallest residential building – Sujimoto

Luxury real estate firm, Sujimoto Construction Limited, has spoken on how it plans to reward customers who invest in its Banana Island project-  the Leonardo.

It also unveiled plans to break records with the commencement of the tallest residential building, joining forces with a host of other notable global brands and leading architects from across the world to create a never-seen-before luxury living experience in the upscale neighbourhood of Ikoyi, Banana Island.

The highly anticipated and most talked-about First-of-its-kind, ‘Vertical City’—the LeonardoBySujimoto, which is designed to wipe out every inch of mediocrity from the luxury real estate sector—is set to position the country a century ahead and at the forefront of global innovation.

The iconic $95 million Leonardo waterfront project, with a limited collection of 2-, 3 and 4-bedroom apartments and private villas, brings in an average of 200% return on investment.

The project also pays homage to the art and design of the 16th-century Italian Renaissance and sculpture Leonardo Da Vinci, setting the scene for an awe-inspiring architectural marvel and contemporary luxury living experience for all its residences.

Sijibomi Ogundele, CEO of Sujimoto Construction Limited in a statement said: “Sujimoto Construction, through the Leonardo project, has decided to bring the future into the heart of Ikoyi with this 33-story megastructure that has quickly become a haven for freedom-focused individuals and savvy investors who share values of modern solutions and innovative living experiences, which the project captures while setting a record of many firsts to its name.

“The extravagant Leonardo building comes with an array of world-class features and exceptional facilities. 1st building in Nigeria with a unique Krion façade wall cladding; 1st building with 48 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations; 1st building with a Virtual Indoor Golf bar; 1st building with a standard IMAX cinema; 1st building with 6 temperature-regulated swimming pools.

“The First residential building with two (2) 5-star culinary experience, 1st building that will offend every form of Mediocrity with FENDI. The first high-rise residential building in Nigeria with a Helipad that allows HNI’s to shuttle through the sky at ease, raising the standard of the Leonardo so high that it competes with the very best of buildings in Paris, New York, London, and Miami.”

Ogundele hinted to newsmen recently at the company’s headquarters in Ikoyi during an end-of-year media briefing, said that the vast opportunity the project presents to Nigeria as a country, as well as Sujimoto’s massive plans to cut across various other sectors ahead of 2024.

“The Leonardo project, which is currently in the pile testing stage at about 80% completion, is a record-breaking structure that will sit on approximately 327 piles of 900 diameters each, going 50 m (164 ft) deep, taller than Ocean Parade, costing Sujimoto approximately N9.2 billion for piling and foundation.” He said

According to Sujimoto, the reinforced concrete pile is the longest span length used in the sub-Saharan region, with a guarantee that the building will stand for the next 100 years.

Dr. Ogundele maintained that there is a high level of conviction about the quality of the project. In his words, “To ensure we stand by our words, we have engaged the best structural engineers in the world, sieving through the top 3 and bringing onboard Harrop, one of the best globally. For the next 100 years, you are guaranteed that the Leonardo shall remain standing.”

When fully completed, the Leonardo will provide its residents with lifetime access to the best-in-class features and facilities, from the award-winning Porcelanosa by Zaha Hadid Sanitary Wares, to the Rolls-Royce of home automation Crestron, a Creche to raise future champions, and the kiddies’ temperature-controlled swimming pool. The LeonardoBySujimoto supersedes every investment in terms of ROI.

‘There is no limit to luxury in the Leonardo; today, we have broken the scale of what makes up Ultra Exclusive Living, designed for the 1% of the 1%, shattering rules for a new form of luxury living for our esteemed customers, Dr. Ogundele added.

With 2 top celebrity chef restaurants, a large game arcade, as well as a virtual golf bar with 2500 golf courses designed by SkyTrak and a private boat club membership, the Leonardo creates a unique backdrop for an unrivalled luxury living experience positioned at the front row of comfort and unmatched hospitality.

The best part of this grandeur is that the Leonardo currently offers a 25% discount on select numbers of units with a buyback option in 3 years and a high yield return on investment upon completion. This opens up a unique opportunity to enjoy unparalleled standards, intuitive service, and expert property management accessible to all residents.

As for interested investors, Dr. Ogundele hinted that coming onboard early will give serious investors a strong pricing competitive advantage, on which they will be saving about 40% above market value. In his words, “I am sure you are aware that the media space is filled with thousands of empty apartments in Ikoyi and Banana Island, but most of our projects are sold out for two reasons: first, we realised that many developers put immediate gratification above value creation, so we made it a philosophy to put QUALITY at the foundation of who we are, so clients could see great quality, not only in finishing but in the way we go the extra mile in delivering luxury.

“Second is value: It is essential for us to have a great pricing point; we put customer satisfaction first and give early investors a strong competitive pricing point. Today, smart investors who bought the Lucrezia off-plan for approximately $850k are refusing to sell at $3 million, with an over 350% ROI in less than 2 and half years.”

Investors and prospective homebuyers can expect to earn over 300% ROI in the next 2 years by purchasing the 3-bedroom apartments at the Leonardo waterfront property. Currently listed at a 25% discounted price of $750k, these apartments will be sold for $1.5 million during construction and $2.5 million upon completion.

Promising serious rewards for referral agents who may be willing to engage, Ogundele assured that, as a company, Sujimoto will keep to its promise of rewarding agents who refer buyers.

“We gave out over N1billion in commission to people who referred customers to us in our almost concluded and SOLD-OUT Lucrezia project. When you refer a client to buy the LeonardoBySujimoto, you can make up to 100 million naira in commission, and if you are lucky, we can even fly you to your favourite destination, the Maldives, or a holiday in any country of your choice. All our referral agents can attest to the joy Sujimoto deposited in their bank accounts after each deal was closed,” said Dr. Ogundele.

Each unit at the Leonardo will receive 2-4 parking spaces, providing residents with ample parking and guaranteed security for their treasured vehicles. The Leonardo apartments come with two maid rooms to enable clients to avoid unnecessary problems with housekeeping and maids.

Highlighting the pace at which investors have shown interest, Dr. Ogundele noted that only 3 units are left of the first batch of 6 units put up on the Leonardo discount recently released, stating, “Immediately we sell this off, we shall close sales and start selling again when the building stands, and of course, the prices should have gone up 30%.”

“No other real estate company in Nigeria currently does this. It is in our DNA to go the extra mile to satisfy our clients. Furthermore, Dr. Ogundele states that the Leonardo offers a payment plan and a highly flexible payment structure that enables investors to distribute their payments over the next 24–30 months, which is also linked to milestones.

President of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Arc. Oladipo Ajayi, has called on all its retired staff to be good ambassadors of the council.

Ajayi made the call recently in its Lagos office while sending forth more than 10 retired staff of the council.

The ceremony, which was first since the establishment of the council in 1969, according to Ajayi, became necessary to reward excellence, dedication and  loyalty of its retired workers.

The retirees include Mrs. Titilayo Adenekan, Mr. Anthony Aghwadowa, Mr. Matthew Obodeti and Mr. Andrew Ohiomah.

Others are Mr. Celestine Ikekweren, Mr. Ojo Jones and Mr. Otegbade Sunkanmi.

The list also includes Mr. Saidi Yusuf, Mr. Mohammed Sani, Mr. Godson Gbufor, Mr. Salifu Ibrahim, Mrs. Salawu Tawakalitu and Mr. Abdulhamid Musa.

Speaking during a brief ceremony, Ajayi, who acknowledged the workers’ loyalty, said that now that they have retired, they should not dissociate themselves from the council.

Ajayi, who noted that the journey had been tortuous, however, thanked God for the achievements the council had recorded under his leadership.

He said: “It is clear that our staff have been so supportive and wonderful. Hence, their efforts and dutifulness have helped us to get to where we are today. And I can’t thank you enough.

“Many of you retirees will recall that when I came in as the President of ARCON, I inherited 15 court cases but with your support, we have won 12. Kudos to you all.

“We called for this ceremony to publicly sing your praises over your meritorious service with the council. With what God has enabled us to do, together, we have laid a foundation that cannot be shaken for ARCON.

“Though you have served and retired, I urge you to stand for the truth and nothing but the truth.  In as much as we are eager to identify with you, we urge you to identify with us and represent us well in all your endeavours.

“All of you have done well and we implore you to watch our back for us. All of you have done well and we implore you to watch our back for us. I’m eternally indebted to you all.”

The president also charged serving staff to exemplify good spirit and dedication to their job and surpass the landmarks the retirees have established.Ajayi charged them to pay more sacrifice in order to raise the bar of architecture in Nigeria, which is one of the mandates of the council.

Be thoughtful, be more active and come up with fresh innovations and ideas that will increase the council’s earnings.”

The Registrar of ARCON, Umar Murnai, who expressed gratitude to the retirees, noted that ARCON having reviewed its achievements in the last few years, concluded that the members of staff have been very diligent in executing their task.

Murnai, who said this was the first since the council was established in 1969, added: “Without their work, the council wouldn’t have been able to achieve its feat.”On why the event was held in Lagos, the registrar said: “We decided to do it in Lagos to, in a way, commission the newly remodelled ARCON building in Lagos. “Now, we have enough space to engage in our activities.”

He urged all the retirees to be good ambassadors of ARCON, saying, “Don’t dissociate yourself from ARCON.”

Arc. Kayode Anibaba, appealed to ARCON to take good care of the retirees. “They are assets who know the history of the council more than some of us. Yes, they have retired, but they can still be useful to the council. I plead that no matter what, let’s ask after their welfare because they’ve done a lot for ARCON.”

Arc. Ladi Lewis called on the council to carry along both the retired and serving staff, and urged the retirees to be good ambassadors of ARCON.

Noting that many of them are living archives of the council, he urged the council to work towards coming up with its history, using some of the narratives from the retirees.

One of the retirees, Anthony Aghwadoma, thanked the council for its gesture and pledged to offer any assistance within his power to the council at any time.

Another retiree, Andy Ohiomah, who expressed delight over the send-forth, praised the council and management ARCON for taking the right step in redeveloping its Lagos office

He said: “I’m happy that we’re not being sent forth under Potter’s cabin”, adding that the delivery of the project was a dream come true for him.

ARCON registers new architects, warns against unhealthy rivalry

The Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), the regulatory authority for the architecture profession, has swelled the number of registered architects in Nigeria as it admitted 614 new members into its fold.

Also, the council registered 54 architectural technologists and 86 architectural firms.

ARCON president, Sir Oladipupo Gabriel Ajayi, urged the newly registered architects to always consider the impact of the work they do on people and the economy.

At the retreat of their induction held in Abuja recently, the president also warned architects in the country against unhealthy rivalry, saying was inimical to the growth of architecture in the country.

ARCON president urged all to painstakingly check their daily activities against the standard expected of an architect.

He said architects should be honest, act with integrity and promote their services honestly and responsibly.

“Be trustworthy and look after your clients’ money properly; co-operate with regulatory requirements and investigations; deal with disputes or complaints appropriately; have respect for others. Tick these boxes as you ply your trade on a daily basis and you would have a sense of fulfilment,” he assured.

Ajayi was, however, worried that despite the strategic importance of Architecture to nation building, the profession has grappled with some challenges, leading to the ministerial directives to ARCON in 2022 to be an arbiter to the two warring associations— Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) and Association of Nigerian.

He noted that one of the outcomes of the peace initiative was the Professional Practice Competence Examinations (PPCE), which was in accordance with the Act establishing the Council. “I pray that this peace is sustained and we must tell ourselves never to tread this path of outright disregard for rules and regulations that guide us,” he pleaded.

The president urged all architects in nigeria to come together and set aside their differences to pursue the common goal of adding to the development agenda of the present administration and subsequent ones.
This, he said, was the main reason the government set up the council and to ensure that it grants licences and instruments to architects, architectural technologists and architectural firms to practice their trade unfettered.
Umar Murnai, ARCON registrar, charged the young architects to support the arcon project registration number (APRN) and ensure that the initiative works in all states of the federation.
He said APRN became necessary to protect architecture, the building industry, and the public, adding that the initiative, which has been adopted at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, should be adopted by all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
The Registrar lamented that the profession has not achieved 10 percent of its potential and mandate, but assured architects of unlimited opportunities for them in the country. He said that, with the initiative in place, it has been difficult for unregistered architects to submit architectural drawings in Abuja.
Ladipo Lewis, former chairman of NIA, Lagos chapter, told the inductees that the role of the regulatory body was to give them their licence and protect the public.
“Therefore, you cannot afford to toy with professional integrity; you can’t apply your seal on jobs you’re not responsible for; you must declare any interest you have in any assignments you’re given; you must never be involved in any form of corruption and bribery and should execute your job with the best of practices,” he said.

Ekeledirichukwu unveils five-year growth plan to scale real estate, lifestyle brands

Nigerian entrepreneur Igbonekwu Ekene, fondly known as Ekeledirichukwu, has outlined a focused three-year plan to expand his business footprint across real estate, property development and lifestyle ventures, positioning Paragon Prime Realty as a trusted brand in Nigeria’s evolving property market.

Ekeledirichukwu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Paragon Prime Realty and founder of a wine importation business sourcing premium sweet wines from Spain, said the strategy is anchored on innovation, asset creation and global partnerships.

Ekeledirichukwu’s journey into entrepreneurship was shaped by an early setback after he studied engineering at the university but was forced to discontinue his education due to financial challenges.

Rather than derail his ambitions, the experience redirected his focus toward business development and technology, a turning point he says sharpened his resolve.

“Those moments shaped my resilience and strengthened my belief that setbacks are temporary,” he said, reflecting on the period that marked the beginning of his entrepreneurial path.

Founded in 2022, Paragon Prime Realty was created to simplify property ownership and investment decisions by giving individuals and investors access to credible real estate opportunities.

Alongside the real estate business, Igbonekwu Ekene expanded into wine importation to meet Nigeria’s growing demand for premium lifestyle products, a move he describes as part of a broader wealth-building strategy rooted in tangible assets and diversified ventures.

The road to growth, however, was not without obstacles. Ekeledirichukwu started out with limited capital, no access to institutional funding and minimal industry support, while juggling operations across multiple sectors. Despite early business failures and moments of doubt, he leaned on discipline, consistency and a long-term vision, gradually building a small but efficient team and forging strategic partnerships across Nigeria and Europe.

At the core of his expansion drive is a leadership philosophy he believes is suited to Africa’s changing business landscape.

Ekeledirichukwu describes his style as “Collaborative, growth-driven, and results-oriented,” emphasizing accountability, continuous learning and adaptability as essential qualities for sustainable enterprises.

Over the next three to five years, his plan includes strengthening international partnerships, expanding into property development, exploring hospitality investments and rolling out lifestyle-focused brands under the Paragon umbrella.

Beyond the boardroom, Igbonekwu Ekened raws inspiration from fashion, travel and global culture, having visited more than 12 countries in recent years—experiences he says have broadened his worldview and business mindset.
