    Guys: Be a trend setter

SLEEK or modern, trendy or classic, casual or warm, modest or ornate, whichever you choose when buying a dress, proper coordination brings out the best in one’s personality and features.

Every one of us is a unique person, who we are and what we do define us as individuals. This goes from the shoes that are on our feet to the clothes that we wear, to our combination and coordination power.

First impression, they say, matters.  You can define and create your style and make yourself stand out from the crowd, rather than following the trend.

  • Glam up with fedora hats

    Glam up with fedora hats

Fedora hats which are very trending for guys this season will complement your look stylishly. The term, fedora, was in use as early as 1891, and its popularity essentially soared, taking over the homburg, a formal felt hat. The fedora represents the sheer elegance of class, style and sophistication.

It is important to know some of the basic rules when complementing your outfit with the fedora hat.

You also need to plan when you will wear it, either for a formal or casual occasion. The same fedora hats may work for both looks, so keep that in mind when you go shopping.

It is also important to pick a colour and material that will complement your outfit and remember the right-size matters. Make sure it fits snugly, but not too snugly.

For evening or colder settings, a dark felt or twill fedora would best suit your needs.

If you are wearing a suit, the fedora hat should be the same colour with the suit or blazer.

If you are looking for something to freshen up your wardrobe, a fedora hat might just be the thing to go for.

  • Stress can be a major trigger for hair loss

Stress can be a major trigger for hair loss

Personal style brand, Natures Gentle Touch, has stated that in addition to common factors that can lead to hair loss, such as tight braids, frequent use of hair relaxers and dyes, untreated split ends, stress can also be a major contributing factor.

Daniel Komlan, Field Education Manager, Recare Limited, manufacturers of the Natures Gentle Touch range of hair care products, noted that some people regard stress as a normal situation which everyone has to go through, but do not know the adverse effects it can have on one’s health, especially the hair.

Komlan said: “Stress can be a major trigger for hair loss. When one is stressed out, the blood vessels begin to constrict, depriving the hair follicles of oxygen, minerals and vitamins it needs for healthy hair growth. When the body gets exhausted from stress, it burns more energy and directs the vitamins and nutrients to other parts of the body that need them for survival, thereby leaving the hair malnourished.

“We regard stress as a hindrance to healthy hair and urge people, especially women, to take proper care of their hair, eat well, drink a lot of water, have adequate rest and engage in exercises to make the nerves and body calm. The hair is a woman’s ultimate accessory that complements her beauty, if it is in good condition.”

  • What to wear on a date

What to wear on a date

A DATE is exciting. But one of the biggest issues for a date is deciding what to wear.

Getting the right dress for a date can put a lot of pressure on you. Here are some tips to help you decide how to dress as well as to make up for different types of dates.

Black is the easiest and safest of colours, and this season we have a lot of hues to experiment with such as olive green, pink, seductive purple and grey or harsh.

Patent is a finishing touch that needs to take  a centre stage, so keep the rest of your outfit simple. It pulls an outfit together in a way that makes it look effortlessly stylish and very classy.

For daytime: Consider wearing something a little more casual. Often times daytime dates are meant to alleviate some degree of anxiety.

I recommend a subtle bag with jeans and shirt dress or a cute skirt with a nice top as well as some accessories to top it up. For a date that involves a lot of walking, go for flat shoes that will keep your feet snug when walking long distances. Light make-up will do.

39, 40, 41 TREND 25-4-15.For evening time: This calls for something a little bit dressier than your daytime garb; go for a classic cut LBD or better still a pair of flirty pants or a skirt; a sleek clutch purse and sexy metallic pump or patent heels would be perfect. Faint make-up with some shimmering effects is a great option for elegant dining. Add drooping earrings like chandeliers to sexify you.

  • Men’s trendy wear

    Men’s trendy wear

ALL WHITE: Colours are synonymous with fashion, though a specific colour rules per season, but in all, the white colour stands the test of time as the all-season colour, be it for a night gig or day-time event. It never goes out of the fashion scene, no matter how many new ones emerge.

    •Mai-Atafo
    •Mai-Atafo

Vivid print: This is a print that is now firmly entrenched in many men’s wardrobes. Utilizing prints across shirts, tees and trousers is the order of the day.

Jackets- blazers, suits and waistcoat: Among fashionable men, two, three or single button blazers are receiving the  attention now.

Smartly sown blazer jackets of any colour or design are now worn on jeans trousers and mostly without ties, although they could also be worn with ties. And the reason may be because they are suitable for both formal and informal outings. It is perfect for today’s men who do not always want to dress up for all formal outings. Dressing casually cool, especially with any of these blazers, is one way to keep you from looking shoddy.

Pastels: Men have been free to experiment with a variety of hues that were previously deemed out of bounds. Pastels have been a prime beneficiary of this new, more liberal attitude, becoming the go-to palette for men, looking to introduce subtle colours to their warm-weather looks.

  • Tommy leggings: How to wear them

MANY years ago, Tommy leggings resurfaced on the style radar. They have now shown up all over the runways, but they are the favourite of most young ladies. Fanciful, fashionable and hippy tommy leggings can do more than keep you cool. They also give you a comfortable chic look. But not every woman can spot tommy leggings, colour and shape (figure) issues must be considered, such as what to pair them with.

    Shirtdresses

Pairing tommy leggings with a well-built shirtdress adds an extra layer of style, often in the form of a pattern or colour, and it is also good for dresses and other roomy numbers.

    Tunics

If you want your leggings to take the spotlight, pair them with a tunic top.

    Shoes

Gone is the saying that teaming leggings with high heels is not it. Flat shoes are your best bet or avoid heels of any height and instead go for ballet, moccasins, flat buckle or strap sandals, flat covered and peep toe shoes. I quite agree that with stylish flats, you can pull off leggings with casual ease. Believe me, you can strut your leggings with heels, and if you are a doubting Thomas, check out the pictures below.
