  • Underwear for Men

    Underwear for Men

A FEW men know that men’s underwear, precisely boxers and briefs, very short pants or knickers, are also fashion accessories. But this is not surprising. It is highly embarrassing, but most men no dey wear pant. As the Americans would say, a lot of men prefer “freeballing or going commando”. This term was introduced by Americans for men who do not wear undergarments.

But things are changing now. Men are beginning to see underwear as fashion statements. And many designers are now spending quality time and resources to produce natty underwear.

Shorts are to be worn at home or beaches for relaxation and leisure. Boxers and briefs serve the same purpose as pants. But briefs are a bit different because they are more of private wear. They cling tightly or firmly to the thigh. They give support and confidence.

There are different types, ranging from thongs, jock straps, trunks, boxers and briefs with pouch for genitals. They keep genitals in place and ensure that they do not swing.

Some have a fly over-lapping opening in place of zip or button. Some men don’t like fitted pants.

Generally, it is advisable for such men to try out loose but firm boxers and briefs. Boxers and briefs are not all that expensive and they are always very comfortable wear.

  • Dazzling tie & dye

    Dazzling tie & dye

THE resurgence of core native fabrics like adire and kampala has been widespread. And the way this new development is changing the face of fashion is beyond expectation.

Compare to the fashion trend of the 70s, 80s and early 90s, when western fabrics were the order of the day, these native fabrics that come in diverse patterns, textures, styles, designs and hues are the king. They are simply gorgeous and a beauty to behold.

In the past, they were seen as the fabric for the downtrodden and the rural folks.

Now, it is conspicuously present in our wardrobes. These fabrics’ fortunes have really changed. They are the popular aso ebi choice at socials.

They come in different natty designs, styles and patterns. Gone are the days of sewing them in mainly boubou and iro and buba styles.  Who would have thought some years ago that they could be used to sew skirt suits and other formal wear?

The young and old wear them and they and even appreciated by foreigners. Initially, they were produced from teru fabrics, but they are now produced from various ranges of fabrics from linen, satin, cotton to guinea brocade.

As long as the fabric can absorb the dye mixture, it can be turned into some of these core fabrics. Adire and kampala come in different simple, catchy and nasty dye colours and patterns, and their stiffness, when starched, makes them stand out.

  • How do you treat your hair

GONE are the days when only women spend thousands on their hair in order to look good.  Nowadays, guys are not left behind when it comes to trendy hairstyles . So, guys, how can you deal with hair raising problems?

Switch to not shiny products, if you are thinning. For many men, their hair thins out as they hit their 30s and 40s.

To make it look thicker and more manageable, use a matte (not glossy styling paste or clay). Matte products absorb light and instantly make hair appear a little thicker.

Give yourself an egg wash. Wash your hair in eggs once a month for the protein. Apply shampoo to dry hair to remove wax .The best way to deal with wax is to apply shampoo directly to dry hair and rinse and then follow this with another application of shampoo. You will find that this method helps to break down the product and leave hair clean.

Most men tend to think that the harder they rub hair after washing, the quicker it will dry. In reality, an overzealous towel drying technique will just cause breakage. Instead, pat dry to avoid putting any extra stress on it.

According to a barbing expert, a common mistake men with dry and coarse hair make is over-washing it. As any regular swimmer knows, chlorine can play havoc with hair. Chlorine chemically bonds with the proteins in the hair and causes the cuticle (the hair’s protective outer layer) to lift which makes hair dry, brittle and dull. To minimize its effects, wet hair thoroughly with clean water before swimming as this dilutes the adverse effect of chlorine. Or try applying a little conditioner to it before your swim.
