  • What do I do to stop my girlfriend from the habit of demanding for too much sex?

Dear, Adeola my name is Austin from Ibadan. I have a girlfriend who demands sex from me a lot. Please ma, what do I do to make her stop this habit?

Dear Austin, not knowing your age will not allow me say it the way it should be said. But because when I advise about sex, I always try to assume I’m dealing with adults, I will make an attempt at answering your question.

If you’re in a committed relationship (and for those who are married), it is a great thing if your woman finds you so sexy and attractive that she wants to be under the sheets with you always.

I wouldn’t know how often your girl demands for sex, but if it is like 3 times in a week, that’s absolutely normal. Except your libido is low, 3 to 4 times in a week shouldn’t be a bad idea if you’re both healthy.

Most men I know are angry that they are the ones making all the advances for sex, which could be quite boring.

If on your part, your health cannot match this girl’s demands, talk to her and be very sincere about it. Don’t make her feel like she’s the one who is odd, instead, crave her understanding and reach a compromise on how many times would be convenient for you. I wish you well.

N.B: If on the other hand your girlfriend is a school girl, then this is not a good sign as she could be anything from being at that stage when sex is so sweet she must have it, to using is as a tool to get something from you.

  • Toyin Fagbayi lies low

If the need ever arises to take a census of beautiful women with a knack for dressing up in the best of attires, Toyin Fagbayi will definitely appear at the top of the pecking order. This is simply because the colourful clothier spares no dime to look her best.

In the social and political circles, she is not a stranger. The flamboyant, good looking woman used to be very prominent in the nation’s capital city, Abuja, where she was once close to the powers that be. A few years ago, she shared a close affinity with the former First Lady, Turai Yar’Adua, with some reports even claiming that she was in charge of the former first lady’s wardrobe. Her stunning overall appearance at functions was said to have conferred on her the rare privilege.

Of course, she has had her fair share of controversies. One of these is her battle with Senator Arthur Nzeribe, which made the headlines. The mudslinging that ensued was such that took a long time to abate.

A single mother of one, her friendship with Senator Gbenga Oguniya also put her in the spotlight. Keeping a low-profile in recent times, Fagbayi has ceased to be a staple on the social scene.

  • 15 fastest growing small business opportunities in Nigeria for 2013

    Continued from last week

    TRANSPORTATION SECTOR

    4. Inland water way transport

Inland water way transport is one of the fastest growing business opportunities in Nigeria.

In fact, I believe the niche is still untapped because I am yet to see a modern commercial boat or ferry service system in Nigeria. Though there are a few operators in this industry; I am yet to see the modern facilities being used by the developed countries.

Another reason inland water way transport business proves viable is because population in states such as Lagos, Ogun and Rivers states is rapidly on the rise, resulting in the congestion of roads. Since the roads are becoming heavily congested, the next means of transportation the inhabitants of these heavily populated states will resort to is water transport. With proper planning, a good management team and adequate funding, you can break into this untapped industry and carve a niche for your business.

    5. Haulage and logistics

Haulage and logistics is another fastest growing business opportunity in Nigeria. Though it’s considered a risky business, you can breakthrough if you have a strategic business management team on ground. Good management is the key to surviving in the business of haulage and logistics.

    6. Outsourced bus service

This is similar to haulage and logistics but the cargo in this case is humans. I am not talking about the regular road transport bus service. In fact, I don’t think I have seen the idea for this business being utilised by anyone.

In this case, you are providing transportation services to firms and corporate entities. Some corporate organisations can’t afford an in-house transport system for its executives and staff, so this is where you come in. You provide the cars or buses, provide the drivers and you are paid on a monthly or contract basis for the use of your transport services.

Another area of target is schools. Most schools would like to provide transport facility for their students but they can’t afford it and this is where you come in. You provide a bus service system and send out a proposal to schools to use your bus services. Just imagine 20 or more young schools jointly using your student bus service system and you will catch the vision of this idea.

    INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

When it comes to ICT, I will say Nigeria is lagging behind when compared to the western world. It may sound like bad news to you but to entrepreneurs and investors, it is good news. ICT is still an emerging trend that hasn’t reached its peak, so a lot of opportunities exist for both local and foreign investors. I won’t go into the capital intensive business opportunities that exist in the ICT sector; rather, I will stick to small and medium scale business opportunities.

    7. Cyber Café

The demand to stay connected to the rest of the world is rapidly on the increase and the cost of internet connection is still on the high side when compared to what is obtainable in the western world, thereby making cyber café an alternative for internet users; and an investment opportunity for entrepreneurs. This business can be started either on a small, medium or large scale but I will prefer a large scale because size can be a competitive edge for you in this business as customers won’t like to be kept waiting.

Customers of this industry want speed and efficient service and most importantly; they want to be sure to find a vacant computer system anytime they want to surf the web without having to wait in line. If you can get a good location; provide speedy internet access and provide complementary services; you are in for a breakthrough.

    8. E-Services

Just as the world is going e-crazy; so also is Nigeria catching up with the trend. E-services provision is still a virgin business opportunity that hasn’t fully been tapped. Under the umbrella of providing e-services; you can find the following fast growing business opportunities: E-payment, bulk Sms services, web design and hosting, database management services, e-portal management, etc.

    EDUCATION

The need for education is on the increase and the burden to provide quality education is getting heavier for the government to bear thereby, leaving room for private and institutional investors. The following are ways you can tap into the potential opportunity.

    9. Schools

A lot of institutional and private investors have gone into building quality schools and providing quality education but the potential has not been reached. With a population of over 150 million Nigerians, where 65% are below 40; there’s still untapped potential in this niche.

You can access this business opportunity from different entry levels. You can tap into this niche by providing either crèche, primary, secondary or tertiary education but all entry levels holds strong potential. Please carry out your own analysis before investing in any level of this business opportunity.

    10. Seminars

Not everyone loves being educated within four walls of school. Some prefer street smart education or high speed learning and that’s where you come in. You can set up a seminar company that organizes coaching services according to the current needs and trends of the society.

    11. Training centers

Specialized training or educational centers is another fast growing yet untapped business opportunity in Nigeria. Examples of specialized learning centers are Leadership training schools, entrepreneurial centers, training centre for the gifted and physically challenged, training centre for hobbies and crafts, etc.

    12. Tutorial centers

With the proliferation of academic and professional exams, tutorial centers have joined the list of fastest growing business opportunities in Nigeria. You can access this business opportunity by choosing or specializing on a training need. You can focus your proposed tutorial centre on any of the following: ICAN, GMAT, WAEC, JAMB, GSCE, CIS, job interview training, etc.

    GREEN ENERGY AND TECHNOLOGY

With a global increase in the awareness of environmental degradation and its hazard, the world has resorted to finding an alternative “green energy.” Nigeria is not left out in this global awareness that has created massive opportunities for smart entrepreneurs and investors. If you feel green is the next business trend on board, then below are the fastest growing business opportunities in the green energy and technology sector of Nigeria.

    13. Waste management

With an increased awareness in the need for environmental conservation; opportunity has popped up in Nigeria in the area of waste management. When analyzing the waste management business opportunity, I observed that two factors are responsible for the potential in the business and you must make sure these two factors are in place before deciding on an area of service.

One is a bursting population and the second is a strong environmental policy and its enforcement. So far, two states in Nigeria that has taken the lead with respect to these two factors and these states are Lagos and Imo state. But I believe great potential still lie in other states of Nigeria. Do your own personal research before venturing into this industry.

    14. Waste recycling

The next fastest growing business, yet untapped business opportunity in Nigeria is waste recycling. I don’t need to expatiate on this as the details are clear. You can venture into either bottle and can recycling or nylon recycling. You can even embark on a waste to green (manure) project as Nigeria has a huge demand for organic and inorganic fertilizer.

    15. Alternative power

The last but not the least of the fastest growing business opportunities in Nigeria is alternative power supply. In recent times; Nigeria has seen an explosive increase in the demand of power supply thus creating an avenue for smart entrepreneurs to capitalize on. Solar energy, Wind energy and bio energy are some of the alternative power supply system that are currently making waves in the country but the present alternative power supply service providers cannot meet up the demand thereby leaving room for other creative investors. With a good plan, adequate capital and a strong business team; you can break into this niche.

  • Osun takes giant step towards cleaner state

Osun takes giant step towards cleaner state

THE TRAFFIC on Gbongan Road , Osogbo, Osun State was unusually heavy on this day. A group of new green trucks formed a straight line, moving in a snail speed. As you try to count, you discovered that those trucks were too many, leaving you frustrated. On the median were excited crowd of people who cheered what they see as novel in this part of the world.

In the procession was Mouka Ray, an actor, entertaining residents of the town. He, alongside other residents stood in the morning sun to see the new set of green painted trucks procured by the state government to add to the number of existing waste disposal trucks in the state.

As you begin to wonder what the excitement was all about, you were suddenly woken up from your thoughts by a comment “This government is very serious about the environment. These are O-Clean trucks,” someone said excitedly from the crowd.

Would you blame them for being happy? Many of them were there when their environment was fusty and neglected. The recent efforts by the government of Ogbeni Aregbesola to create friendly environment is paying off.

Buoyed by the success recorded with O Clean, which the governor has described as personal and environmental cleanliness, the government took further steps to launch the new intervention project, tagged O-Clean plus.

The O Clean plus is an effort by the state government to make the task of cleaning the environment, not just for government, but also for citizens. According to the Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Environment & Sanitation, Hon. Bola Ilori, the programme entails a lot initiatives like; Private Partnership in Waste Managements, Tree Planting, O’ Clean gas, O’Clean Marshal, Highway Managers, Mosquitoes Reduction Programme, Environmental Awareness & Advocacy, Nylon/Plastic Buyback Programme and Local Government Technical Committee on Waste Managements among other things.

For those who are smart enough, aside the initiative creating employment for the unemployed youths, it will afford them the opportunity of making money with less sweat from the nylon buy-back project. The government is now ready to buy the ‘pure water’ sachet which are not only environmental friendly but constitute nuisance to the public.

A modern dump site has also been constructed with modern facilities to convert all the waste into biogas. Good enough, the bio gas is currently being used by the governor to cook. At the launch of O-Clean Plus, the governor came out boldly to vouch for the bio-gas, saying “it is safe and healthy”

The occassion was another opportunity for the governor to tell the people of Osun that the present government is a responsive and responsible government. He disclosed that the waste collection vehicles were bought on credit; the citizens have to pay a token to dispose their waste of so that the state would be able to pay for the trucks.

The trucks will be stationed in designated parts of the streets to pack refuse.

For those who think the project would not last, ilori was quick to point out that the government did its home work before embarking on the project. The streets were enumerated five months for easy operation of the project.

The environmental enforcement marshals were inaugurated by the governor and mandated to enforce environmental laws by arresting environmental offenders. Aregbesola did not mince words in giving stern warning that the days of flouting environmental laws with impunity was over.

Though the launch was full of fanfare, Ilori also pointed out that the state was serious about making Osun State clean. “We have done a lot of public awareness in terms waste disposal and managements, we have also provided very many alternatives for our people to get rid of their wastes properly. So anyone seen dropping refuse indiscriminately would be handled by our Oclean Marshals under the various existing laws. ”

With the present arrangement, each local government will have O-Clean offices with representatives.

The occasion was also used to launch tree planting project in the state. About 2.5 million tree seedlings of various species are ready to be given free to citizens of the state for tree planting. The Commissioner for Commissioner of Environment & Sanitation, Olubukola Oyawoye, who was up beat at the launch, reiterated the commitments of her Ministry to the tree-planting and that the ministry has started zero tolerance of indiscriminate waste disposal and breaching of the state environmental laws.

All things being equal, mosquitoes are going to relocate from the state as the state government is bent on continuous aerial spreading with its helicopter. The helicopter acquired by the state had generated much controversy before the launch of O-Clean Plus. At the launch of O-Clean Plus, Ilori put paid to the controversies surrounding the purchase of the helicopter. The state has saved N4billion naira which would have been used in fighting mosquitoes. ”After calculating how much we would spend in hiring helicopter, we discovered that it would be more that what we would be use in buying the helicopter that would do the aerial spraying of the state. With the helicopter, the governor is saving the governor is saving N4bn which would have been spent on fighting mosquito alone.”

Speaking at the occasion, 50-year-old Ramota Salami, a petty trader was happy, especially with the way the state has been able to control the perennial flooding. She welcomed the recent N500 monthly levy on refuse collection, saying “it would go a long way in stopping from indiscriminate dump of refuse in rivers and streams.”

Joseph Alebiosu, who recently relocated from the northern part of the country, was happy about the tree planting initiative, saying “government should sensitise people more on tree planting as tree makes environment friendly.”

Steve Adeyemi, a student in one of the secondary schools, was happy about the buying back nylon/ polythene projects, saying he would do the business to support his family. “I’m not ashamed to collect nylon in exchange for money.”

The Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, Hon Patrick Obayagbon; wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dame Abimbola Fashola; representative of the wife of Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Mrs Doyin Olusoga; traditional rulers, politicians, unions and associations, were around to witness the launch of O-Clean Plus.

  • Finally, Mohammed Babangida unveils governorship ambition

Finally, Mohammed Babangida unveils governorship ambition

That Mohamed Babangida, the son of the fomer Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, is set to be the next governor of Niger State in 2015 is no longer a hot-button topic. The story came into the open on May Day with the distribution of campaign bags to workers at the Workers’ Day rally held in Minna, Niger State. There, workers fell over one another to collect the bags being distributed by the foot soldiers of the Mohammed Babangida 2015 Campaign Organisation.

The bags with inscription, ‘I have a plan. What of you?’ were enough to go round the crowd of more than 2,000 people. Embossed on the bag is the picture of Mohammed and the logo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). A former governor of Niger State and political godson of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Abdulkhadir Abdullah Kure, was said to be leading the pack of Mohammed’s backers with the oiling of the old Kure political machinery, which would soon be put into use.

It was gathered that Mohammed has been engaging in secret political moves, making wide consultations with the people that matter in the nation’s political space.

  • I relax by reading & watching movies ‘I’m also taking lessons in golf’ -Fashion icon Sighetu

I relax by reading & watching movies ‘I’m also taking lessons in golf’ -Fashion icon Sighetu

Fashion Icon, Sighetu Edubane Edeku, knew what he wanted from life right from childhood. Though his father, a very successful book merchant, wanted his son to go the university and study medicine or law, the little boy had his eyes fixated on fashion.

To get his father off his back, he would later attend the University of Lagos where he studied Geography and Town Planning. Satisfied that he had done half his father’s wish, Sighetu threw himself into his childhood passion-Fashion.

“Fashion is a very big business all over the world. My mum and a few other members of my family were into it. And when I was in the university, I discovered that I was selling clothes to my colleagues on campus. I would go home to collect stuffs and sell to my colleagues in school. After I left school, it was only natural that I would go into fashion business.

“I almost dropped out of the university. But I knew it would to be unfair to my parents to do that. So I had to honour them and complete the course. After that, I went on to do what I had always wanted to do. But I first had to study at the Institute of Textiles.”

But the young blood in him would not allow him to finish the textile course before starting a fashion business. With the benefit of hindsight, Sighetu, in a deep throaty laughter, said he quit because he was too much in a hurry to make money.

Almost three decades on, Sighetu has, to a large extent, established himself as a name to be reckoned with in the burgeoning fashion business in the country. But he is not done just yet, his dream, he confessed to The Nation, in an exclusive interview, is to ensure that his brand is worn in every home in Nigeria.

“My dream is to have my brand in every home in Nigeria. I know it is possible, and I am working toward it.”

Fascinated by the Italian fashion market success story, Sighetu has vowed to maintain the Nigerian identity in his own brand. To start with, he has remained faithful to the meaning of his name, Sighetu, which, according to him, means ‘pathfinder’ in his native language.

As a pathfinder in the fashion business, Sighetu has ensured that, ‘by choice’, everything about him remains African.

He explains: “I am a Nigerian by deliberate choice. So whatever I do comes from the African perspective. The food I eat, the way I dress and the way I live are all from the African perspective.”

While many may look at fashion from the passion perspective, Sighetu confessed that he views it more from the business angle. And he is not surprised that men are gradually taking over a business that was previously dominated by the female folk.

“Men had always been dominant in whatever business. For instance, many people would believe that chefs are predominantly women. But most chefs in big hotels are men. It is the same in the fashion business. Fashion business is a serious one. And it is no surprise that most serious businesses are dominated by men.”

Sighetu is not unaware of the ‘danger’ of working with female models most times. And like a wise man, he said he has successfully drawn the line between pleasure and business. “It is like an entertainer, you need to draw the line. For me, I know the challenges of working with models, I mean female models. Therefore, I need to put my head down and know where to draw the line.”

Interestingly, the last four years have been particularly traumatic for Sighetu. He lost his wife and business partner two years ago. Prior to that, she was sick for about two years, necessitating that he took a break from fashion for about four years.

When his wife was alive, she formed the backbone of the business, especially those that had to do with the models.

“I worked with my partner, that is my wife. We were always together doing videos and photo shoot. In our kind of business, you must have somebody to help you keep your head. My wife did that for me.”

In a painful tone, Sighetu explained his experience of the past four years; “I lost my wife about two years ago. She was ill for about two years, and I had to leave the business because it was no easy to manage. And I had to take a leave to take care of her. But unfortunately, she passed on and I lost my drive.

“For me, it was a double loss. She was my wife and business partner. In the office, we were always brainstorming. And at home, I could wake her up and discuss any idea. When you lose such a person, it reduces your confidence. And more painful was that she the face of the business. After her death, I didn’t feel like going on with the business anymore.”

For him, making a comeback into a business that gave him fame was as difficult as making a primary school pupil write a university examination. But after several pieces of advice and therapy from family members, friends and experts, he is gradually beginning to find his rhythm once again.

While fashion is taking the front burner in his list of priorities once again, Sighetu has also found a new passion in golf. For him, relaxation has no other meaning than reading a book or watching a movie.

“These days, I relax by reading or watching movies. That is what I understand by relaxation. It is my own way of relaxing”, he said.

But he has also added a new passion to his ‘dictionary’ of relaxation. And today, whenever he is not behind his table, penning down a design, reading a book or watching a favourite movie, Sighetu would be at the prestigious Ikoyi Club, Lagos, where is presently taking vigorous lessons in the artful and elitist game of golf.

  • The other side of Peter Obi

The other side of Peter Obi

If  there is one governor in Nigeria who can be described as very humble, it will be Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State. When he assumed power as governor some years ago, not a few people thought that power would soon go to his head. But many years after, Governor Obi remains his humble self.

Celeb Watch ran into him aboard Virgin Atlantic aircraft on his way to London penultimate Wednesday as he left the first class cabin of the aircraft to say hello to one of his old friends at the economy section. Obi, who sported a pink striped shirt, chatted with his dark and slim friend for close to one hour.

He was also generous with greetings and good words to the few people who recognised him, without any air of arrogance.

  • Building a sound relationship (2)

    Dear Reader,

It is a great joy for me to bring God’s Word your way today. Last week, I brought you the introductory part of this teaching. I taught on what relationship is and why we need to build a sound relationship.

Today, I will be teaching on the types of relationships we have. Basically, there are two types of relationships. The first is your relationship with God, while the second is with your fellow men. Let’s briefly examine each of them.

Relationship With God: Your relationship with God can be considered from three different levels, namely: as your Creator, Father and Lord.

God is your Creator (Genesis 1:27) and you can relate with Him as His creature. He is the Creator of every living.

God becomes your Father when you give your life to Jesus, and get born again. God’s Word says: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John. 1:12). When you have a personal relationship and encounter with Him, then He becomes your Father.

However, the highest relationship with God is when He becomes your Lord. He becomes your Lord when your life is sown as a seed in dedication and absolute commitment unto Him. He is only the Lord of those who are ready to say: “Yes Lord” to His will, plan, purpose and destiny. When He becomes your Lord, you can be sure nothing can change His plan and purpose for your life. May that be your portion in Jesus’ name.

To Develop an Intimate relationship with God, however, you have to consciously, deliberately, intentionally, willingly and excitedly make yourself available. How? Through deep Word study, prayer life and constant fellowshipping with Him. There is no other relationship in life that compares in value, equal or can replace your relationship with God.

In actual fact, we can safely say that your relationship with God is the only sure foundation for success in every other kind of relationship. It is utterly important for you to straighten up your relationship with God.

Relationship With Men: The second type of relationship is your relationship with men. The word ‘men’ here is not talking about gender. This is not referring to the male gender of God’s creation. ‘Men’ in this context is referring to both male and female gender of God’s creation. Here, I am referring to your relationship with people. This is in three levels: your superiors, mates and juniors. During your life’s journey, you will definitely meet and need people in these three categories and this is the best time to develop such relationships.

Your Superiors: Your superiors are the people you draw from. They could be your boss at work, your lecturers in the school or your spiritual parents. These people have the skill you do not have, the experience you do not have and you could climb on their shoulders to see ahead. The truth is: no matter your level in life right now, there are and there will always be, people above you. These are people who can speak into your life, especially when the going seems to get tough.

My husband, my entire household and I are beneficiaries of this type of relationship. During the time I went through the valley of the shadow of death, this was one of the major areas of strength for me. Senior men in ministry were greatly used of God to stand in the gap, to ensure my total liberty and freedom from the pangs of death. Alleluia, today, I am a living testimony and can boldly say that God is too faithful to fail! He is dependable and He is more than enough!

Be humble and smart enough to identify your superiors and draw from their wealth of knowledge and experience. This will expedite your rate of accomplishment in life.

Your Mates: These are either your colleagues at work, in school or people at the level that you are in. These are the people you share with. They could be your friends. The need for you to identify your own company (Acts 4:23) so as to derive maximum benefits from it, cannot be over-emphasized. Remember, if you stand alone, you fall alone. One tree never makes a forest!

Then, Your Juniors: These are the people that you flow out to, the ones that look up to you as their superior. Wisdom demands that you identify people that you can reach out to. The need to build sound relationship with people at these levels cannot be over-emphasized. No matter who you are or the category to which you belong, you should get involved in these three levels of relationships. You will always have superiors, mates and juniors. Receive the wisdom to build these strongly, today.

The question then is: Is Jesus Lord over your life? Or are you lord over yourself? God becomes your Father only when you give your life to Him and be born again. To get born again, you have to confess your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour.

If you are ready to be born again, say this simple prayer with me, in faith: Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I believe You died and rose again for my sake. Forgive me of my sins, take over my life, make me Your child and let Your peace reign over my life. Thank you for saving me. Now I know I am born again.

Congratulations, you are now born again! I believe that you will begin to experience the reality of the price that Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary. All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name!

  • I’m sad because no guy wants me even at 18

Good day ma. I’m a gal of 18 years and at my age no guy has ever approached me. My friends advised me to always smile but it’s not working. Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and get sad. I will say I have lost my self-esteem. People say if a guy approaches you that it means you have something worth looking at. Please help me. – Worried Gal.

Dear Worried Gal, why are you looking at this issue from the negative perspective? Have you sat down to see why guys may not be looking at you? It could be that you look so respectable that no guy wants to toy with you except he is ready for a serious relationship. It could be that you have a good reputation as that girl who won’t take nonsense from a guy. It could also be the Heavens protecting you from dangers that some premature relationships bring. Just be yourself and face whatever you are doing now to safeguard your future. Be happy and don’t smile only because you want guys to notice you; smile because life is more beautiful when we smile.
