TIME is something no one has a control over. It was on November 27, 2010, when the Oliyere of Iyere kingdom, Oba Omotunde Adako, ascended the throne of his forefathers, and he is already celebrating 10 years as king.

Plans have been concluded to celebrate the young and stylish monarch this month with a week-long event. It should be noted that before he wore the crown, the kingdom was without a king for about nine years.

Oba Adaku, who grew up near the palace of Olowo of Owo, is the first king in his family in recent past. His biological father was not a king before he died, while his grandfather was a pastor. The last time there was a king in his family was about 400 years ago.

Iyere kingdom is located in Owo Area Council, Owo Local Government of Ondo State. It has nine communities with beaded crowned Obas in each of them.

    Challenging times for Prophet Ogundipe

    By Olushola Victor

This is clearly a challenging time for Prophet Israel Ogundipe after a Lagos High Court found him guilty of fraud charges and sentenced him to two years imprisonment. It would be fascinating to see how he overcomes it.

When the news surfaced during the week, it was like a rumour or fake news considering how he is valued or rated in the society and Celestial Church of Christ (CCC).

The popular philanthropist had been facing the charge since 2007 for allegedly defrauding a United-Kingdom-based woman of N11 million. He had promised to help her buy some landed properties but couldn’t deliver neither did he refund her money.

As a philanthropist, he has won the hearts of many people by providing for the less privileged and orphans.

Earlier this year too, he was appointed an Ambassador for Peace of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) for his service to society. With this latest development, his integrity and pedigree will be questioned.
