    WHEN it comes to the world of marketing communications, Kikelomo Atanda-Owo, is no push over.

    The elegant Managing Director of Z-Edge Limited turned a year older recently and she celebrated it in a big way.

    Top personalities such as Charly Boy, Yeni Kuti, Seye Kehinde, Seun Oloketuyi and Otunba Sesan Rufai partied with Atande-Owo at her residence in Magodo, Lagos. Apart from the abundance of food and assorted drinks, it was also an opportunity for some guests to catch up with friends and associates who they had not seen in a while due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

    Before founding Z-Edge Limited, Kike served as Senior Vice President at Peculiar People Management (PPM) and sat on the project committee for the seventh Economic Summit Lagos (Ehingbeti) in 2012 and 2013.

    Recently, he was spotted at the 2020 Adult Harvest Thanksgiving of Church of the Nativity, Parkview, Ikoyi, Lagos, and he was the center of attention.

    The former president thanked the church for inviting him to be the father of the day.  He also pledged his support for the church project.

    THE Alara of Ilara, Oba Folarin Ogunsanwo, has proven that being a traditional ruler doesn’t affect his relationship with God and his understanding of the Holy Book.

    Oba Ogunsanwo, who ascended the throne of his forefathers in July 2020, recently held a thanksgiving ceremony at the Immaculate Catholic Church, Ibowon, Epe, Lagos, after ending his three months of seclusion as demanded by custom.

    While appreciating the people of Ilara for their support since he was declared the king, he established his mastery of the word of God. He said: “The wisdom to rule and the wisdom to do what is right shall be given by God. The Bible says that the righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach. It is my prayer that righteousness of the Almighty God will reign in our homes and our town.”

    The king also assured that he would work hard to surpass the achievements of his predecessors and bring development to the community.

    Every parent would love to see their children succeed them in all ramifications and possibly bury them when they transit to the afterworld. The Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, Ganiu Kola Egunjobi, didn’t fail to give his late mother, Alhaja Mariam Aduke Egunjobi ‘Iya Eleja,’ as she is fondly called, a befitting burial after her death on Saturday, October 24, after a brief illness.

    The graduate of Sociology from the Lagos State University has often bragged that all he achieved in life, was made possible with the support of his mother, who sacrificed proceeds made from her fish business to train him and his sibling in school. According to sources, while mama was alive, they shared a strong mother and son bond.

    “Egunjobi can’t do a week without visiting mama at her place. Her death came as a big shock to us all. The will of the giver of life supercedes that of man. We love her but Allah loves her more. “

    On Sunday, November 1, Egunjobi gathered dignitaries at the Agege Stadium, to celebrate the 8-day Fidau prayer for his late mother. With guests adorning white and green colours, guests were feted to the very best of local and continental dishes and an endless supply of choice drinks. Pop artist Small Doctor also delighted guests with his musical performance.

    Those spotted at the soiree included the Speaker, Lagos House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa; Chairman, Shomolu Local Government, Hon. Abduhamid Salau; LASUBEB Chairman Hon. Kayode Opeifa; Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon. Alawiye King; Dr. Wale Ahmed and The Olu of Ibogun, Oba Fakayode Adeshina Ifaluade.

    Others were Hon. Kolade Alabi, Hon. Razak Ajala, Hon. Funmi Mohammed, Hon. Ramota Akinola, Hon. Sesan Daini, Hon. Fatai Ajidagba, Hon.     Olumide Aderinokun, one of Ogun State’s few genuine grassroots politicians and philanthropists, has come under serious pressure to join the race for the Ogun Central Senate race come 2023. Though 2023 might seem a bit far, politicians across various political platforms are already planning and plotting ahead of the next electioneering process.

    According to sources knowledgeable about the inner workings and activities of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olumide’s name had been bandied around by some of the party’s stakeholders as a viable option to reclaim the PDP’s glory in Ogun State. Interestingly, a huge number of people in Olumide’s senatorial district share the party’s sentiments. They believe that the successful realtor has done enough to win the trust of the people in his senatorial district.

    The constituents made a quick reference to Olumide’s kindness during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. The unassuming politician reached out to over six thousand households in his senatorial with relief packages to ease the agony of the then lockdown. Aside from his philanthropic heart, many of the people in Ogun Central believe that Olumide represents a paradigm shift in the scheme of things in Ogun Central politics.

    Affable and cosmopolitan, Olumide is said to be a man with the magic wand who has successfully built for himself a company rated as one of the big names in the real estate industry. Described as a man of many parts, Olumide has his hands in quite many businesses to support his philanthropic activities. Aside his real estate company, Olumide is the head honcho at Foxy BDC. Also, he is a big player in the poultry business which he runs under the brand known as Adeona Farming Ltd in the Ofada area of Ogun State. He is also into an online retail business called  dumota.com  reputed for its integrity and professionalism. With investments running into millions of naira, largely located in his home state, Olumide has demonstrated his love for the development of his community and its people.

    At the height of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, the graduate of Business Administration from Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, donated N1 billion to support the government in cushioning the effect of the virus on citizens.

    An author with credit for a book like ‘Africa Rise and Shine’, Ovia celebrated his 69th birthday on Wednesday, November 4, with no fanfare. However, several goodwill messages reeled in from different parts of the world in celebration of a man with the heart of gold. As he has always loved to keep his private life off the media, he only celebrated with his family.

    Sources said he spent the day with his wife and kids as they just celebrated him with a family dinner and they all sang the birthday song for him and prayed to his creator for long life.

    “Chairman would not throw any big celebration, not even with the looming second wave of COVID-19. We are planning his 70th birthday next year and it’s going to be grand. We would be unveiling several philanthropic projects and also he might probably unveil his next book to mark his 70th birthday.”

    One of the negative outcomes of the violence caused by the EndSARS protest in Nigeria was the attack and looting of Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos’ palace.

    Being a highly respected traditional ruler, this came as a surprise to many Nigerians. Apart from polluting the Oba’s private pool, the looters carted away with his staff of office, which is a sign of authority.

    Although ritual rites were held to welcome Oba Akiolu and his staff of office back to the palace, the king is not pleased.

    The ancient palace which is the official residence of the Oba of Lagos was originally built in 1670 and has remained a historical monument and a cultural rallying point for Lagosians.

    While peace has returned to Lagos after the Lekki shooting and the security officers are hunting for looters, the experience is a thing Oba Akiolu will not forget soon and it may take a while for him to trust or forgive the youths who disrespected his office.

    Princess Folashade Omotade has explained what attracted her to Lagos Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, who she had known for years before they tied the knot last month.

    In a recent interview, Omotade said Odumosu had many things in common with her late husband.  She stated: “People that know me know that I always like a tall man and he has a lot of things in common with my former husband. He is very smart and intelligent. I also like a kind and hardworking man, because I am a very hardworking woman. We must complement each other. Those are what I knew about him in the early 90s.”

    The socialite was once married but her husband died in a Bellview Airline Plane Crash in October 2005. Since his death, she refused to give marriage another chance. It was even learnt that the first time Odumosu proposed, she turned it down.

    Their introduction and traditional marriage took place in Abeokuta in August, while the Islamic wedding held last month in Banana Island was attended by close family and friends.

    PUTTING his 70th birthday on hold must have been a tough decision for Ibadan senior chief, Oloye ‘Lekan Alabi, considering the big plans already in place.

    Alabi was already looking forward to the D-Day, Tuesday, October 27, and invites had been extended to friends and associates.

    Social Circuit learnt that the decision to cancel the celebration was made after a family meeting where it was agreed that it would be insensitive to hold a celebration amid lives lost during the EndSARS protests. But a later date will be picked for the big celebration.
