  • Singer Sinach, husband dedicate child

    When news that top gospel singer, Sinach, gave birth broke, it came as a big surprise to many of her followers. She has been looking up to God for the fruit of the womb since she tied the knot in 2014 and God answered her prayer at 46.

    For the doubting Thomases, who didn’t believe she was pregnant for nine months, the singer and her husband, Joe Egbu, for the first time, made a public appearance with their child. On Wednesday, the couple dedicated their child in a church service.

    On her Instagram page, Sinach appreciated everyone who made it to the dedication ceremony, saying: “I think happiness can sometimes overflow and you can only be grateful forever and just say thank you Lord! Thank you to our friends and family that came out to celebrate with us.”

    The excited husband also, while sharing photos on Instagram, wished he could increase his paternity leave.

  • Alakija steps out for Opral Benson

    Despite being the richest woman in Africa, Folorunsho Alakija, still values her old friends and carries herself with flattering simplicity.

    Alakija, who hardly attends parties, was spotted at Chief Opral Benson’s 85th birthday dinner held at La Scala Restaurant, MUSON Centre Onikan, Lagos, on Friday, February 7.

    Being a fashion designer, she doesn’t disappoint when it comes to her fashion sense. For this occasion too, she came with her a-game. She rocked a beautiful pink dress, which made her look like a lady in her 30’s. She came into the restaurant in the middle of the party and walked majestically to her seat.

    Meanwhile, Senator Florence Ita Giwa and Hajia Abbah Folawiyo, were surprisingly absent at Iya Oge of Lagos’ dinner party considering their long history of friendship.

  • Ayo Fayose absent at Fayemi’s birthday

    When Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, joined other well-wishers to celebrate with the immediate past governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, on his son, Tomiwa’s wedding, the general feeling was that the two politicians had put their differences behind them.

    At the recent birthday celebration of Fayemi’s 55th birthday last Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, Fayose was one of the top missing personalities. While the reason behind his absent is still unclear, it certainly couldn’t be because of any issues as the body language between them at the aforementioned occasion was quite warm.

    Dignitaries at Fayemi’s birthday celebration included Gov Okeize Ikpeazu of Abia; Gov Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto; Gov Jide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos; Gov Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo; Gov Dapo Abiodun of Ogun; Gov Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi; Gov Abubakar Badaru Jigawa; Gov Godwin Obaseki of Edo; Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Bisi Egbeyemi; former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko and former Osun State Deputy Governor, Iyiola Omisore.

     

  • Tope Alabi buries father

    Joseph Obayomi, Tope Alabi’s father, has gone to rest at the age of 89 but his singer daughter and family members ensured that he was given a befitting burial.

    The wake-keep and praise night service for Pa Obayomi, who passed on December 16, 2019, took place on Wednesday at his residence in Oshodi, Lagos, while the final burial was held on Thursday.

    In a tribute to her father, Alabi noted that even though she didn’t grow up as the smartest kid, her father didn’t forsake her.

    “I remember how receptively slow people thought I was; how overbearingly unassuming I was. I remember how stubborn I was too. Despite my receptive attitudes, I didn’t project the character of decency when I was growing. I would jump at any available ‘bolekaja’ and off I would go,” she said.

    “I remember becoming a thorn in your flesh Daddy, when I chose to join a theatre group. Your expectation was that I would start working after college but I joined the Nigerian Theatre Practitioners as an itinerant actor, going from one film location to another with or without invitation. I remember how it was almost impossible to believe that I would be a source of blessings to my parents…But I can’t forget that despite your chastisement and frustrations, you still prayed for me anytime you wanted to pray, telling God what you wanted me to become…”

  • PR lady, Anita Aiyudu breaks new ground

    From a public relations lady, pretty Anita Aiyudu has broken many grounds in the nine years since she discovered herself and potential.

    Recently elevated to the position of the Country Manager of MTV Staying Alive Foundation, it was never a walk in the park for Aiyudu.

    Announcing the development, she noted: “Nine years ago, I started my journey to discovering myself and harnessing my potential. Fresh out of school, I faced every single hurdle without fear of what people might say or think. From working in Public Relations for major corporate, media and entertainment brands, I desired more and moved to the marketing industry as Marketing Partnerships Manager for MTV Staying Alive Foundation in Nigeria.”

    At the foundation, however, she proved herself, building partnerships with different government offices, health organisations, and working closely with cast and crew of MTV Shuga Naija. Two years later, she is now as the Country Manager for the foundation.

    MTV Staying Alive Foundation is an international content-producing and grant-giving HIV prevention initiative.

  • Valentine Ozigbo moves on

    A chapter is closed in the life of Valentine Ozigbo. The announcement has been made, so there is no going back.

    On March 25, Ozigbo will leave his position as President/Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Plc to focus on his desire to become Anambra State governor.

    Social Circuit gathered that despite vacating his position, he would still be playing a non-executive role at Transcorp.

    In a statement he said: “Anambra, here I come. My visits to a number of you and villages, the frank conversations we have shared, the pains you feel and the successes we have all recorded and more are the encouragements that have led me to embark on this project. I will continue to engage and consult as many of you as I can reach so that I can continue to listen to you for the vision to craft Anambra to be truly representative, comprehensive and most impactful.”

  • Oladipo Diya’s wife, Josephine, turns 70

    The name of former Chief of General Staff, Lt Gen. Oladipo Diya (rtd), rings a bell because of his role as a key player in some of the last military regimes that ruled Nigeria.

    While Diya marked his 75th birthday on April 6 last year, his wife, Otunba Mrs. Josephine Onoimiuko, marked her 70th birthday yesterday in Lagos.

    In celebration of her birthday, Mrs. Diya visited the Old People’s Home in Yaba, Lagos, Nigerian Red Cross Society Motherless Babies Home, Makoko, Lagos, and Regina Mundi Old Peoples Home, Mushin, Lagos, to donate food items, toiletries, and home utensils.

    She said that the donation was to assist the government alleviate the suffering of the masses, adding that it was also to mark her 70th birthday celebration slated for Saturday.

    She was joined by her daughter, Mrs. Oluwakemi Diya-Ojie; husband, Gen. Diya; Rev. Ola Thomas of the United African Methodist Evangelical Church, Abule Ijesha, Yaba, Lagos, and a host of others.

  • Ayo Animashaun’s golden plan

    HIS annual Headies Award is regarded the Nigeria’s version of Grammy Awards, Ayo Animashaun has remained consistent from his music journal HipHop world Magazine to owning lifestyle and music channel HipTV.

    The Business Administration graduate from Kwara state polytechnic has every reason to be thankful to his creator, most expecially, when broadcast equipment worth millions of Naira was razed by fire in his studio.

    As if that was not enough, his studio was marked for closure for allegedly owing a banks several millions of Naira.

    Despite the hard challenges that crossed his path, Ayo remained unperturbed and resilient, rose above his tribulations to stand tall. He weathered the storm and stabilized his business till date.

    On the 17th of March, the Kwara state born media mogul will be celebrating his 50th birthday amidst pomp.

    In celebration mood, Ayo would be leading a long party train to the city of Istanbul in Turkey where the celebration shindig is billed to hold.

    The 3 days birthday bash holding on the 26th- 29th, tagged; ’50.Life’ will attract popular entertainment personalities, top socialites, business magnate, friends and well wishers.

    Ayo is leaving no stone enrolled as he is hellbent on giving himself a 50th birthday that will never be forgotten in a hurry.

  • Winifred Awosika celebrates

    Compiling a long list of those who have invested and contributed immensely to the educational sector in Nigeria, High Chief Dr. Mrs Winifred Awosika (OON), founder of Chrisland Group of School must surely appear at the first page. Her immense contribution and support for quality education from primary to the university level, gained wide attention.

    The foremost educationist and disciplinarian has every reason to be greatful. Apart for her success in the educational sector, hitting a milestone of 80 years on the 13th of Febuary, is a clear testimony that; her creator lives.

    The Oshuporu Chieftancy Family, Owo, Ondo state born business woman, started her primary education at the Government Primary School, Owo, and proceeded to the renowned St. Anne’s Girls Secondary School, Molete Ibadan from 1954- 1958.

    Following her brilliant performance in her Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), she moved on to the Nigerian College of Arts, Enugu for the Advanced/intermediate studies and thereafter attended  the University College, Ibadan, (now University of Ibadan) in 1962.

    She graduated in 1966, bagging a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

    To celebrate the Oshobiken of Owo gliding into the leagues of octogenerian, on Tuesday 11th of February, she was honoured with a play performance and dinner party, held at the Muson centre, Lagos Island.

    It was a private affair for close family and relatives and other well wishers. On Sunday the 16th of February, she will be holding a thanksgiving service at her church Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral, Ikeja, to thank her creator for blessing her with long life amidst wealth and good health.

    This month of February, in celebration of St. Valentine day, which is a season to show love, the property czar has extended his hands of love to his staffs.

    Over 22 of his staffs, through the ‘Incredible Reward Initiative’ will be sent to the United Arab Emirate, Dubai, on a one week all expense paid holiday trip.

    This philanthropic gesture will allow some of selected hardworking staffs learn through exposure to sharpen their operational ability.

    Over the years, Dr King have sent over 100 staffers to foreign training and leisure trips. For King, the wellbeing of his staff members is his watchword.

    He does that to the fullest and that is why many of the company’s employees can count years of fruitfulness with testimonies abound which was often reeled out at the companies annual Adron Lemon party hosted to honour and reward loyal staff and contributors.
