His son also created the sobriquet ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ meaning the ‘Son of wealthy Man’ for himself.

The generous philanthropist is not a man who likes to display his God-given wealth, but when he has a reason to do so, he has a mastery of it. Apart from his fleet of expensive luxury automobiles, He owns a Gulfstream private jet, estimated to be about $65 million, just over N23.5 billion. Tonye Patrick Cole is no pushover when it comes to the scheme of things in Rivers State Nigeria. Either as a politician or a technocrat, he has successfully crested his name in gold with a wealth of experience as the co-founder of Sahara Energy. As a close ally to the immediate past ex-Minister for Transportation Rotimi Ameachi, many averred that his sojourn into politics was ignited by his friend, who wanted him to wrestle the state from Governor Nyesom Wike. His efforts to take over the affairs of Rivers state in 2019 were truncated after a legal tussle that saw INEC taking his party off the ballot. Like a man who does not give up on his dreams, the UNILAG-trained engineer continued his dream by working on his grassroots structure.

The smooth-talking business mogul is currently facing stiff opposition from different quarters, especially from Senator Magnus Abe with varied controversies over his emergence as the APC gubernatorial aspirant in the Rivers State ahead of the 2023 elections. One thing Cole is currently worried about is the massive exit of politicians he looks up to in winning the election. However, in a bid to solidify the party ahead of the polls next year, sources say the founder of Nehemiah Youth Empowerment Initiative foundation is currently working assiduously to ensure the house is to aid his success at the polls. Cole has been going round on wide consultation and has also been appeasing aggrieved party members to work in hand with him.

Society Rendezvous also gathered that since his emergence as the guber candidate, he has intensified his attendance at social events where he now socializes and mixes with people. While some say it’s not connected to his ambition, some argue that he is not a social butterfly but since he grabbed the party’s ticket, he has been attending social events to ensure his visibility.
