    Bola Tinubu launches new book

As a seasoned corporate lawyer with over 25 years in practice, Mrs. Bola Tinubu is also a renowned children’s rights advocate, who founded Nigeria’s first free child helpline and also launched a non-profit organisation Cece Yara Child Advocacy Centre in 2016, located at Gbagada Lagos.

The advocacy centre is well equipped with a multi-disciplinary team of counselors, social workers, child advocates, lawyers, and forensic interviewers to prevent child sexual abuse and to provide access to care, information, protection, and emergency intervention for children who have experienced sexual abuse or who are at risk. In a society that has an alarming rate of child sexual violence, it’s important we protect our children from sexual predators.

On Friday 27, 2022, the wife of Oando boss Jubril Adewale Tinubu launched her new children’s book, titled, ‘Bisi is The Boss’. The book provides an interesting take on child sexual education through an interactive and exciting storyline packed with fun trivia, colourful characters, and valuable lessons. “Bisi Is The Boss” is a book about child safety and protection.

It empowers children and their caregivers by teaching children about how to recognize boundaries, how to react, who their trusted adults are, and how to get help. Empowering children is a great step towards breaking the cycle of child sexual abuse, and my aim is to get this book into the hands of every Nigerian child no matter what their circumstances are.” She added.

The storyline follows Bisi, a well-informed little girl who teaches young children through this important book how to identify inappropriate behaviour and create body boundaries.

  • Who is afraid of Rashida Bello?

Who is afraid of Rashida Bello?

Kitted to her sleeves with an armour of allure and humanness, Hajia Rashida Yahaya-Bello, First Lady of Kogi State is that type of woman who loathes making the loud noise like an empty barrel. With the volume of a substance in her, blowing her trumpet herself is unnecessary as her good works often speak volumes of her. More reason she has stayed out of controversies all her life. The only reason you will see her in the news is that she is impacting people’s lives positively which was quite evident recently when she doled out one million naira cash to each of her domestic aides for their loyalty and carrying out their jobs diligently. Anytime she steps out with her hubby the Executive Governor of Kogi State, HE Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello a function, she is the cynosure of all eyes as her simple but classy fashion statement, ravishing beauty, and sartorial elegance distinguish her from the crowd. She remains a delight of many in and outside Kogi State.

Over the years, despite living a low profile life with her children, her detractors won’t let her be with their various pull-down tactics in a bid to spoil the good reputation she has built for years. After several attempts, she remained unflinching and unperturbed standing tall and refusing to fall prey. Years ago, it was rumoured that in annoyance, she packed her belongings and left her matrimonial home. After a series of investigations, it was revealed that such never happened as the Kogi First lady was sitting elegantly in her husband’s house with her kids. It was later disclosed that those who are envious of her were behind the rumour to cause possible rancor in her family. Instead of instability, the couple was sighted at a public function looking all loved up. Instead of her detractors desisting from their usual game, they took it above board over the week when a US-based Journalist Jackson Ude, who was a former director of Strategy and Information under Former President Goodluck Jonathan, alleged that she was having an affair with actor Pere. Contrary to the lingering rumour, sources said the author deleted the fake unverified baseless news on Twitter after he could not provide concrete evidence followed by a lawsuit in the United States of America.

  • About Hon. Joseph’s 50th birthday celebration

About Hon. Joseph’s 50th birthday celebration

An epitome of resilience and doggedness laced with meekness and respect, Hon. Ayodeji Joseph has been a bridge builder ever since his sojourn into the murky waters of politics. His gentlemanly demeanour makes many often wonder what a man of his nature is doing in politics – a game perceived to be dirty despite being an achiever as a seasoned Banker and a graduate of Geography and Planning from the Lagos State University. But the soft-spoken two-term chairman of Apapa Local Government has often told many that he has made a vow with his creator that his purpose in life which is to better the lives of those around him must be achieved. This is evident in his way of life as he often put himself up for service to humanity through politics representing Apapa Federal constituency at the federal house of Representative and also a special adviser to the speaker before his appointment as the Managing director of the Lagos State Development & Property Cooperation LSDPC.

Despite being a lover of the round leather game, as the president of Apapa golden Stars Football club, he has sponsored many players for trials abroad at football clubs where many of his products are currently playing European soccer tournaments. Today, he is regarded as a top stakeholder with the wide political influence which he cemented and earned through his ability to coordinate and manage people from all walks of life. Over the week, he turned 50. Not a few were excited as the whole social media was thrown into a frenzy with goodwill messages, eulogies, and social media extolling posts to mention a few. It’s an indication that the birthday boy played a very supportive role in the rise of many within his environment. Despite his birthday being devoid of fanfare, the birthday boy alongside his friends and family members used the opportunity to thank his creator for making him arrive on the 5th floor in sound health. He also promised not to relent in his philanthropic deeds as his love for humanity is beyond what any man can comprehend.

  • Dumo Lulu Briggs celebrates father

    Dumo Lulu Briggs celebrates father

Sweetness is the remembrance of the righteous. And such was replicated as Barrister Dumo Lulu Briggs remembered his late father, High Chief Dr O. B. Lulu Briggs, on May 22, through a 92nd posthumous birthday. The posthumous birthday remembrance of the Iniikeiroari V of Kalabari Kingdom and paramount Head of Oruwari Briggs House of Abonnema is a clear indication that the Briggs family in Rivers State will never forget the role of the late patriarch in a hurry. While he was alive Opuda, as he is fondly called, meant so many things to so many people. To some, he was the quintessential Kalabari chief, entrepreneur, and national statesman. To others, he was a repository of prodigious resources and a philanthropist par excellence. And yet to others, he was a citizen of the world. But in all, he epitomized hard work, love, and enduring service to humanity.

Dumo extolled his late father’s virtues by penning down a touching posthumous birthday message that reads: “My beloved father, High Chief (Dr.) O. B. Lulu-Briggs, Iniikeiroari V of Kalabari Kingdom, brought joy and sweetness to the lives of so many people when he was alive. Today he has gone to be with his maker but he’ll remain my highest example of selflessness, love, and heroism. And not a day of his birth will pass by without remembering and celebrating him. The love he taught us will never let his death erase the memory of his birth. And so, today, in his loving memory, we shared great times with mothers, fathers, and children in Abonnema. And it was deeply fulfilling to see smiles and happiness on the faces of my people. Opuda lives on!”.

    Olori Atuwase’s birthday gift

If royalty needed an apt definition, the aura, poise, finesse, sartorial elegance, and graceful gait of Olori Aiyivieruewinoya Uhunoma ‘Ivie’ Emiko-Atuwatse, will fit perfectly well. Apart from being born into affluence over three decades ago, Olori Atuwatse III believes everyone is equal despite her aristocratic background. The gaily Queen of the Warri Kingdom holds humanity in high esteem, hence, why she is regarded and ranked high within hoi polloi in the society. Though she was born into the family of late Nigerian billionaire business magnate Captain Idahosa Wells Okunbo, her life was not defined by daddy’s deep pocket or mum’s pocket money.

The trained lawyer and graduate of the London School of Economics is the founder of Abba’s Jewels, a community of over 60 women who, together, raise funds to impact the community through outreaches, food drives, hospital, and prison visits. She also convened The Love Drive, a free yard sale that started in Lagos, Nigeria. As the President of RIG Africa, a prophetic training organisation, she trains people to hear God for themselves in ways that are practical and applicable to everyday life and work.

As the Olori of Warri Kingdom marked her birthday over the week, many had thought she was going to paint the ancient city of Warri red in celebration mode. However, she crested her name in gold by galvanizing top personalities including her husband the Olu of Warri Olu Ogiame Atuwatse III in partnership with CleverMinds Foundation to commission the first-ever STEM and Innovation Lab for orphans and underprivileged children in the slum area of Iyara, Warri.

The newly commissioned STEM Lab is a non-linear learning centre that will avail children the opportunity to play, and explore the amazing world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through fun interactive activities while experimenting with amazing creations and ideas that develop lifelong learning and interest.

The space is fully equipped with an array of engaging activities for kids to tinker with including digital labs, coding challenges, robotics kits, prototyping with 3D printers, physical computing with Arduino, computer games, and child-friendly sci-fi movies/animations, short videos on emerging technologies, and many more. Sources said the innovative area was built in honour of the queen’s late father, a man whose love for education as a panacea for change among teeming children knew no bound while he was alive.

If you climb inside  Tokunbo Phillip Wahab’s tummy, you will not stumble. His excitement knew no bounds when he turned 50 in good health and wealth.

Those who have had an encounter with the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Education, always agree that his cool, calm, and humane nature gives him an edge over his peers.
