    Dumo Lulu-Briggs Rejigs political ambition

The Accord party Guber candidate at the Rivers state 2019 general election, Chief Dumo Owukori Lulu Briggs might have slowed down on politics and this is connected to the silent war he fought to give his late father a befitting burial two years after his death. Immediately after granting the wish of his late father for a befitting state burial, the hunky, dark, and consummate lawyer swung into action to activate his political machinery for the next guber election in 2023.

All his life, the Kalabari born oil czar had always wanted to replicate his magic wand in the corporate world as the head honcho of Platform Petroleum, effectively turning around his late dad’s ailing oil company, Moni Pulo Ltd, which was hitherto under expatriate management back, into profitability and prominence. From the political permutation in the state, he is one of the top and formidable contenders to watch out for. He is no pushover and ignores him at your peril. His name is currently on the mouth of all sundry as the best man to take the works of the incumbent Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to the next level by delivering high-grade projects and infrastructure across the state.

A source disclosed that he is prepared to go all out this time around giving it all it takes. He has started moving his political train around the state receiving blessings of elders and opinion leaders who matter in the scheme of things. “As we speak, take a trip to his GRA, Port Harcourt office, the mammoth crowd flooding that place daily will marvel you. Several political groups have constantly been visiting to pledge their loyalty and also seek synergy to enable his dreams and aspiration for Rivers state to actualize. There are chances for him in 2023 as the incumbent governor will have served out his constitutional two terms,” a source said.

Ahmed Ketso tests followers’ patience with recent moves

For Ahmed Muhammed Ketso, Deputy Governor of Niger State, living the good life has always been a thing he loves doing with ease. At every point in time, he always wants to enjoy every moment and of course, make up for his rustic background. His call to service in politics is connected to his late father’s pedigree; Muhamed Ketso, who was a respected Islamic scholar and a grass-root politician and opinion leader in the Mokwa area of Niger state.

When Abubakar Sanni Bello, the executive governor of Niger state, got the ticket to contest as Governor in 2015, Ketso was appointed the zonal campaign Director-General. After Bello clinched the ticket, Ketso was nominated to serve as his running mate as he was found as a trusted person who was religious and respectful. As providence will have it, they won the election with a landslide victory. Ever since Ketso resumed as the state’s number two man, he enjoyed a good life. Things turned around for him as he became a strong political force within the state. Sources averred that after the tenure of his boss in 2023, Ketso is warming up to run for the seat of the Governor of the state.

“He is currently in talks with party chieftains and other members of the party to enable him to succeed Bello as the gubernatorial candidate for the next election,” a source disclosed.

Amidst rising issues of insecurity in the state, with numerous attacks from bandits and other series of school children kidnapping in his state over the weekend, the graduate of finance from the federal Polytechnic of Bida secretly tied the nuptial knot with Ummulkhair, a ravishing beauty light-skinned Kano based foreigner. Sources alleged that Ketso and Ummulkhair have been in a relationship for years before Ketso decided to make it formal and make her his wife. “They have been dating for quite a long while. He is allowed to marry more than one wife according to Islam.”

Despite joy in the heart of Ketso, tongues have been wagging about his decision to pick a new wife despite the seeming unrest and insecurity in the state. A few months ago, his residence was vandalized by irate youth over the demolition of their market space.

His attention to key points will almost make you think he is a student of political science but trust me he knows Nigerian politics like the back of his hand among other topics. Early in his life as a businessman and a contractor, he had set out to be a man loved by all sundry for his composure and ability to coordinate things to run smoothly. He understood the power of maintaining friendship and also remained loyal to his friends. These and many more earned him the position as the National Chairman of Nigeria’s former Military President, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida IBB, vision 2003 when he wanted to contest as a civilian president. Many who faulted Oyelude’s idea of working for the IBB presidency are quick to forget that their relationship was dated back when IBB was military president. He was trusted and tested so the synergy and bond between them chummed up.

The multi-lingual monarch averred that IBB was said to have influenced him in a lot of ways. Since he ascended the throne, he also constantly used IBB’s influence and his other high-wired connections to attract developmental projects to his hometown which today his subjects are enjoying massively from. He also used his close relationship with former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Buratai, to enable the Nigerian Army to construct the age-long Osun Bridge on Kuta – Ede Road, which has now eased movement and encouraged trading among the people of the two towns as well as other towns around. The stylish monarch single-handedly built an N75 million ultra-modern community palace, a police station, a patrol van in Owu Kuta, and expanded channeling of waterways as well as the control of Erosion at Isale Oba in Kuta.
