PFN: Only failed government negotiates with bandits

    By Sunday Oguntola

National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Bishop Wale Oke has faulted negotiations with killer herdsmen and bandits in some parts of the North.

Bandits and criminals, he said, should be dealt with in line with full wrath of the law and not negotiated with.

He spoke in Lagos with reporters shortly after the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the body on Thursday.

Oke, who lamented the rising insecurity and blood-letting across the nation, declared that negotiation with bandits and criminals means full admittance of governmental failure.

According to him: “Negotiation with bandits is admittance of governmental failure. Bandits should not be negotiated with but made to face the full wrath of the law.

“The government should bring the full wrath of the law to bear on bandits. They don’t deserve negotiation but punishment in accordance with the law.”

He said Governors negotiating with bandits were indirectly supporting their nefarious activities and admitting they have lost the ability to protect the state.

The cleric also congratulated Muslims on the annual Ramadan, challenging their leaders to justify the saying that ‘Islam is a religion of peace’ by urging their followers to embrace peaceful coexistence.

He said it was worrisome that bandits and Boko Haram fighters were hiding under Islam to perpetuate their destructive activities, stating Muslim leaders should work on changing this narrative for global peace.

Oke also lamented the massive unemployment in the nation coupled with the falling value of the naira.

Nigerians, he said, have been pauperized, a development he said was sad considering the enormous resources in the nation.

  • Total victory through the blood

    Total victory through the blood

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony~Revelation 12:10-11a.

    Introduction:

Happy Resurrection Sunday to all friends and brethren around the world. May the power of Christ’s resurrection bring renewed hope, love, peace and God’sendless blessings to you and to your family, in Jesus Name. Amen.
At Easter, we celebrate the vicarious sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the almightiness of God’s power and the excelling strength of His Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. Yes, this season also commemorates the emptiness of the tomb on the first resurrection morning.

Easter is one event that clearly distinguishes Christianity from all other religious persuasions. While all other religious founders lay dead still in their respective graves, the empty grave of Jesus Christ singularizes Him
as the only genuine and timeless hope for the whole world.

The passionate suffering and the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross also detail the extravagant love of God to man. He bled and died on the Cross at Calvary, and was buried. But, on the third day, He arose!
The events of the passion week must have brought with it a great suspense.

Even the religious leaders in those days probably forgot what they read in the Holy Writ, and therefore missed the joy of hoping it would end the way it did.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ was the greatest mockery that death ever suffered. In fact, death and the grave never had it so bad; they both were ‘robbed’ of their highly-priced victory. Their power could not hold Jesus
captive; He broke loose from their grips and He arose by the Spirit of glory.

The blood spoke, the graves hook, and Jesus Christ arose from the dead, unhindered. Hence, we can now sing, “O death, where is thy sting. O grave, where is thy victory”. Indeed, Easter is about the resurrection of Jesus
Christ, and the joyful outcome of His mission to save mankind.

Meanwhile, the eventual resurrection and decisive victory of Jesus Christ represent the actual soul of our perpetual victory today (Psalm 9:6). I hold the view that Sigmund Freud was reflecting on this perspective, albeit
unknowingly, when he said, “one day, in retrospect, the years of struggle will
strike you as the most beautiful”.

Our Victory Was a Forgone Conclusion

Please keep in mind that the suffering and death of Jesus Christ on the Cross was not accidental. No, not at all. It was pre-planned and foreordained by God from the foundation of the world that Jesus would be
the Lamb of God slain for us (Revelation13:8; John 1:29). The death on the Cross was the hidden wisdom of God ordained before the ages to restore the fallen man to glory (1Corinthians2:8). Jesus was revealed to us at the fullness of time and offered on the Cross to take away our sin and all its effects.

Before Jesus yielded up His spirit on the Cross, He boldly, loudly and triumphantly declared, ‘It is finished’ (John19:30). These words have two profound spiritual meanings and implications for the believers.

Firstly, withthephrase‘Itisfinished!’, I believe Jesus meant that God’s eternal plan, promises, and provisions for the redemption of the fallen man have been perfectly and completely accomplished.

Secondly, He meant the complete overthrow and the abolition of the reign and dominion of sin and Satan over man were roundly concluded. All the works of the devil were completely and permanently destroyed by Jesus’
death on the Cross, where He equally abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (1John3:8; 2Timothy 1:10)!

Today, we are truly redeemed from the curse of the law (Galatians3:13-14). And, as it stands now, the legal right or the license that the devil had before to oppress and afflict us with sicknesses, diseases, poverty, fear, and death
has been perfectly and permanently revoked or annulled. Satan has no more power or dominion over us and, therefore, he is no longer a threat to the believers.

Without any ambiguity, so very much was accomplished for us on the first resurrection morning (Hebrews 2:14-15). Jesus Christ fought the battle, we got the victory! The price of justice and our debt of sin were fully paid. The
sentence is fully served. The battle against Satan, sicknesses, diseases, and poverty has been fully won. We can now rest in His finished works on the Cross. Alleluia!

Tapping Into His Victory Through the Blood

Yes, victory is sweet. But, more importantly, being victorious in the various battles of life is very crucial to the fulfillment of destiny. Hence, we must stand our grounds, and with the Sword of the Spirit, enforce our victory in
    Christ Jesus through faith (Luke1:45;1John5:4).

Life can be extremely difficult for the prey whose back is on the ground. It is extremely dangerous, and it could be painfully catastrophic to choose to live like prey in the day-to-day conflagration of life (Isaiah49:24-26). When a wild go at falls prey to the jaws of a tiger in its natural habitat, it becomes helpless till death. In the same vein, the destiny of anyone living like prey to Satan naturally becomes inundated with hopeless situations
inlife. And, that’s why God made full provisions for our all-round victory by putting all things under our feet (Ephesians1:19-23).

Right in the middle of the impossibilities of life, we are already more than conquerors because we were grafted into the mighty, eternal, and abundant victory that Christ accomplished on the Cross and by His resurrection.
Ourvictoriouspositionisnotcircumstantial; it is relational. We are united by faith to the ever-victorious One, the Lord Jesus Christ (1Corinthians 15:57; 2 Corinthians2:14).

In conclusion, Easter is about New Life in Christ Jesus, and we must take cognizance of that most important fact. By His victory on the Cross and in the grave, Jesus Christ opened wide the way of salvation
to all who would believe, receive and follow Him today.

Jesus Christ conquered all death-dealing forces of evil, He arose triumphantly and He is alive forever! And, amazingly, He did all these for our sakes (2Corinthians4:14-15). His resurrection made possible our own resurrection from a life of sin, shame, and mediocrity, and from the power of death and the grave (Matthew27:52-53).

The theological truth here is that we have been raised up from spiritual death and all forms of evil entrapment because Jesus has freed us by His resurrection (Romans 6:4;1Corinthians 6:14-15; Ephesians 2:4-7). And, this is what actualizes New Life through the Resurrection for all who embrace Jesus Christ as their Lord and believe the gospel today.

Friends and brethren, this Easter season, let’s break forth into real freedom and joy, for Jesus Christ, our Saviour, arose and He is alive, forevermore! May the Ultimate Power of His Resurrection be renewed in you, in Jesus Name. Amen. Happy Easter Sunday!

Four Ondo churches sealed over fetish activities

    By Osagie Otabor, Akure

Four branches of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church (C&S) in Ondo State have been sealed after the presiding Pastors were caught engaging in fetish activities.

President of Ondo State Unification of Leaders of C&S, Primate Ade Ademisokun-Turton, who disclosed this at a briefing, said the churches were sealed to bar the pastors from tarnishing the image of the church.

Ademisokun-Turton said any Pastor that required training would be allowed to come in.

He said leaders of the C&S have settled their differences and are united as a body.

Ademisokun-Turton, who spoke on his installation as Baba Alakoso of Unification of Leaders of C&S ,said his Deputy, seven council of elders and three Baba Aladuras would also be installed.

According to him: “We may not be one in the past before, but now we are one body there were some people that want to join us and that is why we want to train them. Not too long ago, we sealed some Churches and they still remained sealed because they don’t know anything about C&S, we are not going to take that anymore.

“Those who have accepted to be trained would be allow to come in. We have sealed about 4 Churches now for caught doing fetish because we have zero tolerance for fetish in C&S.

“We believe we are the first Pentecostal Church in the whole of Africa and the Spirit of the Lord is still with us so the missing areas that have not been properly addressed by our leaders have been now readdressed. We now represent the new testament because those things that were taken for granted had been taken serious now.

“We are making efforts to formally have a training school for our officials, it is not enough to have a calling but someone must be trained. We realize that where things are missing needs proper training to make a Church grow.

“Also, discipline which was loose had been tightened and we want to improve on that. Not only that we are so very much concerned about our image and we are working round the clock for that. We realized that members of the public does not know that all C&S were absolutely one set of people.

“We realise the importance of control and we have all agreed that there must be control through the Holy Spirit, we need to control our public image and integrity. We want the Church to be founded by those who knows the rudiment of the Church so that we will not be embarrassed.”

    Olumakaiye calls for national repentance

    By Adeola Ogunlade

The Diocesan Bishop of Lagos and missioner, Anglican Diocese, Humphrey Olumakaiye, has called on Nigerians to see this year’s celebration of Easter as period for national repentance

Olumakaiye spoke during the Easter Day celebration sermon at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos.

He said being alive is God giving mankind another chance to reject “Barabbas” and choose life and peace.

According to Olumakaiye, the Easter celebration is the demonstration of divine love, which indicated despite the monstrous miscarriage of justice, and cruel rejection of Christ’s love and person, he willingly chose to die for mankind.

Olumakaiye lamented the Federal Government is seemingly insensitive to the plight of the common man on the streets.

“It looks like “Give us Barabbas” all over again,” he stated.

He regretted Nigeria has been ravaged by violence, kidnapping and insecurity.

The cleric lamented when it is expected that the Boko Haram insurgents and perpretators of other act of criminalities who were captured be seriously dealt with, “it is robust amnesty programmes that is being offered to them.”

According to him: ” It is high Itime our government retraced its steps and focus on securing life and properties, revamping economic sector, invest in education of the teeming young ones.”

Bishop Akinola seeks criminalisation of ransom taking, payment

    By Sunday Oguntola

Presiding Bishop of Rhema Christian Church and Towers Ota, Ogun State, Taiwo Akinola, has urged the Federal Government to criminalise ransom taking and payment to stem the tide of abductions and kidnapping across the nation.

He lamented kidnappings have become so attractive that only criminalisation of ransom taking and payment will serve as deterrence to those involved.

Akinola also challenged the Federal Government to deal ruthlessly with criminals regardless of their status and origin to arrest rising insecurity.

He spoke last Sunday during a briefing in the church ahead of its mini-convention slated for May 8 at City of Zion on Molufinrin, Wasimi along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The cleric said the mini-convention is a prelude to the 30th anniversary of the church billed for November.

Bemoaning the spate of insecurity in the nation, he said: “Nigerians in the present times are being inundated with reports of killings, herdsmen/farmers clashes, robbery, communal strife, ransom-taking, with resultant disasters and economic depression. Farms are being emptied and the means of livelihoods of many citizens destroyed in many parts of the country.

“In fact, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of terrorism have escalated in the nation in recent times, with school children and students being traumatised with harrowing experiences in the hands of these criminals.

“The impression all these give is that our Government is so helpless, despite the fact that the duty of securing lives and property should be the number one duty of government.”

To change the tide, Akinola, a former lecturer, said there were needs to criminalise payment and collection of ransoms.

According to him: “The bandits have continued their reign of terror on the innocent citizens just because of the money they get out of it.

“They see it as a lucrative venture. But if they see that their gains from criminality are far out of sight, they will most probably retrace their steps.

“I am quite aware that making and implementing such laws may appear tough and inhuman at the beginning but where sustained, I believe that within a short space of time, kidnapping for ransom will go down drastically, and eventually become a thing of the past.”

He also said criminals should be ruthlessly dealt with saying government cannot afford to let people believe it has lost its power of force.

“If criminals are regularly made to taste the brutality of the law through frontal punitive measures and public disgrace, it would serve to deter these criminals and others who are planning to tow such lines.

“It is important to say that if government wishes to succeed in its war against criminality in the society, it must be fair and seen to be fair to all citizens alike. Criminality must be tackled without consideration for ethnicity, region or religion.

“Criminals are criminals anywhere and in every place. To profile a group of people or, worse still, to treat some people as untouchable will not help us out of this challenging security situation. Rather, if care is not taken, it can lead us as a nation to a dangerous and an irredeemable precipice.

“If truth must be told, it is the erosion or outright lack of justice and fairness in Nigeria that is seriously fanning the fires of some agitations and violent tendencies we see around us today. And, our leaders at all levels of governance must think deeply about this, and retrace their steps where necessary.”

He called for a day of national repentance and prayer because there is nothing God cannot do.

Such prayers, he said, would be offered at the mini-convention with the theme “The power of covenant.”

  • How to deploy our angels of harvest!

How to deploy our angels of harvest!

    By Bishop Taiwo Akinola

And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice … Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap ~ Revelation 14:15.

    Introduction:

Supernatural harvest talks of an increase that surpasses human understanding, an increase that is inexplicable and clearly beyond the natural. It is an increase orchestrated by supernatural input.

Harvest time comes when the “corn” is ripe, by the mercy of God. Hence, supernatural harvest is a definite work of God’s grace, whereby all the enemies of harvest are beaten out by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Meanwhile, there is no meaningful way of talking about harvest without making mention of reapers. Reapers are significant entities at harvest times.

Definitely, there is a human side to harvest. For instance, in our soul-winning assignment, angels will not “put in the sickle” for us. They don’t preach the gospel; we, the redeemed of the Lord, are the ones that must reach out with the gospel to the lost, while the atmosphere is charged and made conducive for saving grace by the heavenly agents of harvest (Psalm 107:2; Isaiah 48:20).

In particular, when our major focus is on distinctive super-mega-harvest in all ramifications of life, the roles of supernatural reaper agents — the angels of harvest — cannot be downplayed. It is God’s angels that reap in favour of the righteous when all conditions are fully met.

    The Ministries of Angels

Angels are God’s agents who execute His judgment, reveal His purpose and enforce His will on earth.

Particularly, in the interest of our mega-harvest, angels are sometimes sent to give warnings or to provide instructions and directions to God’s people, leading to distinctive feats, as in the cases of Cornelius and Philip (Acts 10:3; 8:26).

Where necessary, angels also do minister physical provisions to God’s people. This was the experience of Elijah when he was running away from the harassment of Jezebel. An angel ministered to him, encouraged and even provided a meal for him (1 Kings 19:1-8; Matthew 4:11).

In general, whenever angels are sent to enforce God’s Will, they do so with an irresistible authority, doing whatever is required to deliver on their orders (Genesis 19:11; Matthew 28:2-4).

Similarly, when they receive a command to bless you, they require no further permission from any quarters on earth to carry out that duty. They will literally go to any length to compel your harvest.

Releasing the Angels for the Works of Harvest

Please keep in mind that the spiritual reaper angels are required to give effects to our expected supernatural mega-harvest (Hebrews 1:13-14). However, in order to practically enjoy a mega-harvest, we must learn to command it in specific terms (Job 38:12-13).

Happily, as children of God, we are authorized to issue commands in the spirit realm. We may boldly say: reaper angels, go now and bring my harvests of heavenly blessings and earthly treasures, in Jesus Name.

Most importantly, when we live in due divine order, we become more effective in deploying reaper angels in line with our expected harvest. Having God and being in right standing with Him are essential ingredients for supernatural increase.

Generally, what motivates angels in their ministry to humans is not their love for us, but rather their devotion to God and to His standards. It is your implicit obedience to God that provokes the reaper angels to work tirelessly in your favour (Exodus 23:20-23). And, this was what played out very favorably in the lives of many saints of old who had great records of mega-harvest.

Even though Abraham was raised in an atmosphere of uncertainty and idolatry, nevertheless, he became very wealthy in silver and gold because God’s supernatural power favored him. This he attracted through diligent obedience to every instruction from God (Genesis 12:1-3; Hebrews 7:1-9).

Solomon too didn’t have any attractive background, so to say. In fact, he was a product of an unholy dalliance between David and Bathsheba, but he changed that negative narrative by demonstrating an uncommon love for God.

He sacrificed “a thousand burnt offerings” unto the Lord (1Kings 3:4). Afterwards, he attained heights of glory, pomp and pageantry that nobody before or after him attained.

Meanwhile, the following specific attributes of obedience will always provoke angelic interventions on this side of eternity, to guarantee our supernatural harvest.

    1. Involving God in All Details of Our Lives! Involving God through prayers stabilizes our harvest cycle (Luke 10:2). More so, we are commanded to put God first in our lives, with a promise that all good things of life will be added to us (Matthew 6:33).

    2. lnclining Our Ears to Divine Instructions! It is a demand of righteous living that we lead a well ordered life (Psalms 37:23). Sometimes, God may require us to do things that look very ridiculous, but if we cannot yield to His instructions, we may as well forget about the interventions of reaper angels on our paths to mega-harvest.

    3. Avoiding Procrastination! Procrastination is the greatest thief of any glorious destiny. ‘Tomorrow’ is the name of the ‘road’ that leads to the city called ‘never’. Hence, our Lord Jesus Christ clearly forbids it (John 4:35).

    4. Working Hard on the Tasks at Hand! Those who are lazy cannot see greatness (Proverbs 20:4). The Bible doesn’t in any way support a mindset of laziness; hence, it says those who won’t work shouldn’t eat (2 Thessalonians 3:10). With God’s grace in the equation, anybody can prosper if he can work hard enough.

    5. Exercise Living Faith in the God of Harvest! We cannot overlook the place of pure faith in God if we expect to enjoy a mega dimension of harvest. “Miracles come in ‘cans’, they don’t come in ‘can’ts’” (Joyce Meyer). Apostle Peter exercised himself in this, and he enjoyed a ‘net-breaking’ and ‘boat-sinking’ dimension of breakthrough at a time (Luke 5:5).

Those who want to see God move on their behalf must develop an attitude of thanksgiving. Things always get worse for grumblers. On the other hand, praising God intensely always yields fearful blessings (Psalms 67:5-7).

Men and brethren, this is the conclusion of this matter: soul-winning is the only acceptable yardstick for measuring durable supernatural increase, and it is wise for us to take cognizance of that fact.

For any Christian to ignore his privileged responsibilities to the lost, or fail to seize the moment to win souls to Christ is a typical form of forced barrenness. We all must become servant-hearted, fruitful and harvesting souls to God’s kingdom.

Being a child of God is not a title, it is an admission into a kingdom life of royal responsibilities. In any case, there is no entitlement in titles. Our holy entitlements are embedded in our tasks of releasing reaper angels, winning souls for Christ and working tirelessly to make our world a better place to live in.

As you walk in this wisdom, may the grace of God stand you out. May the end-time harvesters — human and angelic — swing to work in your favour, bringing every blessing of heaven and all the good treasures of the earth needed to fulfill your destiny. And, may the Lord find you worthy of eternal joy, in Jesus Name. Amen. Happy Sunday!

In celebration of their exemplary leadership within the body of Christ, The Arinko Success chapter Ogun State Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has conferred awards on the Founder and Presiding Minister of Heal The World Ministry, Dr Tola Olukilede, Bishop Taiwo Akinola and 23 others.

The event was held at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Ogun Province 10 Headquarters, Elim Parish, Sango-Ota, Ogun State. The awards were given to the recipients during a one-day minister cum church workers conference by the chapter.

Other awardees include: Bishop Dr. Taiwo Akinola was represented by Prophet Abiodun Owoborode at the event. Other pastors honoured include Pastor Adeola Adenuga, Rev. Kayode Oluwasijuwomi, Rev. J.K Amah and Rev. Francis Ubaka.

Also honoured were Rev. Dr. Donatus Obi, Rev Noah Okaula, Pastor Isacc Ogundipe, Pastor Fagbohun Matthew Alani, Pastor Sam Ayegbusi, Apostle Earnest Osayede, Rev. Mrs. Felicia Owoborode, Prophetess Felicia Adu, Evang. Adeniran Odeyemi, Rev. Dr Isreal Odeyemi, Apostle Sam Adeyemi and a host of other ministers of God.

Olukilede, whose birthday coincided with the event, said, “I want to appreciate you for this award, for deeming it necessary to honour me on my birthday. This will encourage us to continue to do the work. I am going to keep it, cherish it and remember it for the rest of my life.”

Speaking on the theme, “Exceeding grace for next level in life and ministry”, he said, “I want to tell you the meaning of grace, when you carry the grace, what you think is not possible will become possible.

“Exceeding grace for the next level in life and ministry is what you need; I need it because I am not satisfied with where I am now. I need the exceeding grace so that I can jump the fence, I can climb the mountain and I can fly. Grace has been keeping me; how much more exceeding grace”, he said.

Olukilede, a philanthropist of note with over 200 students on his scholarship scheme said further that the covenant of prosperity in life and ministry is the message God gave to him and he has been preaching it since 1999 saying it is God that owns and gives wealth.

He then charged his listeners to establish a covenant with God to enjoy His promises.

“If I want to talk on the covenant of prosperity, I cannot get tired because that is my core ministry. That is the only ministry and message God gave to me which I have been preaching since 1999. Let us look at what the scripture says in Deuteronomy 8:18. Do not forget your God. It is God that owns and gives wealth. You must remember this God. According to the scripture, wealth is not the covenant but God has given us the power to get that wealth that He might establish the covenant with us.”

He reasoned further that the purpose of wealth is to establish a covenant with God saying Abraham was already blessed before he made a covenant with God.

”The purpose of that wealth is to give you an opportunity to have a covenanted work with God. Whatever you could see as wealth because wealth is not only money, it is given to you to establish the covenant. The covenant is what you do to enforce the promises of God into your life, ministry, marriage, business, and every of your life endeavour. Any promises of God needs a covenant to bring it into manifestation and fulfillment.” He asserted.

In his words, the president and founding Pastor of The House of Increase Ministry, (THIM), Dr. Mobolaji Sodiya who preached at the gathering on why ministers are poor; urged the participants to invest in businesses and profitable organizations.

He warned them against depending on offering for survival noting that if they depend on offering and tithe poverty is inevitable.

Sodiya, however, charged the church leaders not to go into ministry because of money adding however that since they cannot survive in ministry without money, they can do other businesses that could impact the ministry positively.
