  • Apostolic leaders to IPOB, others: eschew violently

A group, Coalition of Nigerian Apostolic Leaders (CNAL), has appealed to agitators such as the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and others to season their grievances with non-violent communication strategies.

It also urged the federal government to give non-violent communicators due attention and preference to discourage resort to threatening talks.

The African and national coordinator of CNAL, Pastor Wale Adefarasin, told reporters last Thursday that there is nothing wrong with agitating for whatever is considered grievous.

Such grievances and agitations, he said, must be within the scope of the law with non-violent communication.

According to him: “We would like to appeal to Nigerians of all tribes, faiths and creeds to join hands in embracing and committing ourselves to non-violent communication as our default to mode of interface, no matter how contentious the matters at hands.”

Adefarasin lamented the huge tensions in the nation, attributing it to hate speeches and violent communication from all corners.

The general overseer of Guiding Light Assembly Ikoyi, Lagos pointed agitators and aggrieved groups must realise that violence communication would not always work.

“Violent communication does not work and is always counter-productive. Non-Violence communication is our last bus stop.

“We negotiated our independence but we are yet to negotiate our interdependence.”

Deputy coordinator of the group, Bishop Abraham Olaleye, said African societies have a history of non-violence codes such as Omoluabi concept in Yorubaland, Harambee in Kenya and Ubuntu in South Africa that have worked for years with resounding successes.

He said such civilising programmes should be reenacted for greater successes in the nation through peaceful agitations rooted in empathy and tolerance.

Secretary of CNAL, Rev. Yomi Kasali, condemned religious leaders using hate speeches to fuel suspicion and age-long prejudices.

“We must talk in a way that is non-threatening or blackmailing as religious leaders,” he stressed.

A strategic member of the group, Rev Ladi Thompson, said non-violence strategies can be learnt and taught, urging Nigerians to ventilate their grievances without bitterness or hatred.

  • Adeboye, Pitan, Bamiloye, others for youth convention

General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), his wife, Folu; Director General Bank of Industry, Kayode Pitan; co-founder of Mount Zion Film Production, Mrs. Gloria Bamiloye, and ace gospel ace Nathaniel Bassey have been confirmed for the 2017 National Youth Convention of the church.

The convention, which ends on October 7, holds at the Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.

The Assistant General Overseer of Youth Adult and Young Affairs Worldwide, Pastor Peter Amenkhienan, stated this at a briefing with newsmen.

He said the programme tagged Agents of Transformation will attract thousands of youth from Africa, the United Kingdom, Kenya, South Africa and the United States of America.

It will feature National Youths Sports festival, transformation challenge, the Redeemed Initiative Skill and Empowerment (RISE) and award ceremony for youth and young adult churches with the best corporate social services to their immediate communities.

Amenkhienan said the convention is aimed at building young people with godly character and integrity needed to excel in today’s world.

He said that RCCG is targeting raising leaders with character and integrity who will do their country proud anywhere in the world.

The convention, according to him, will target teenagers, undergraduates and the young-at-heart, adding that previous editions have helped reduce unemployment and social vices among the youth based on feedback from participants.

He noted that although there are young people in the society who have messed up the opportunities given to them in public and private sectors, there are also unsung heroes walking their talks and making great impact in the world.

He stressed:  “In RCCG, we emphasise that success without integrity is no achievement. We don’t have bastards in RCCG. There are pockets of people in politics who have not soiled their hands with corruption.”

Amenkhienmen, who was represented by the National Young and Adult Youth Pastor, Precious Akingbade, noted youths in the country are energetic, adventurous and daring.

He said it is incumbent on the church to harness these opportunities and build the required character for the betterment of the society.

  • Church celebrates honest pastor

Nigerians would be  better off with more honest patriots, founder of Fountain of Hosanna Church of Christ, Pastor Kehinde Abiodun has stated.

He spoke with reporters in Lagos at a ceremony to celebrate one of the church shepherds, Pastor Joseph Akilo, who found and returned $3,338 (N1.2 million) to a passenger at the Murtala International Airport.

He said Nigerians would gain more if they adhere to the scriptures and become less materialistic.

He noted that only people who put God first can do what Akilo did.

Abiodun added that the commendation given to Akilo by his employers was a testimony that his conducts were extremely valued.

He said: “What Akilo had done is spiritually uplifting. He would be rewarded adequately by God.

“This is a worker whose salary is less than N40,000 who found cash of N1.2 million and quickly alerted the authority.

“I strongly believe that Nigeria still has honest men, the wrong impression people hold about Nigeria can be redressed if we emulate Christ and follow the scriptures.”

  • Queen Easter Band celebrates at 30

Members of the Queen Easter Band of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Ayo Ni O, Aguda branch, have celebrated their 30th anniversary.

In the anniversary report read by Queen Adeyinka Awotilu, the band members appreciated God for using them to impact lives within the church in the last 30 years.

“Also, we thank God for how he has helped us in our individual lives. Our children have recorded miracle marriages and job promotions.

“God has opened the doors of international borders to some of our members and we have witnessed several manifestations of the Holy Spirit in our gathering,” Awotilu further read.

The preacher at the occasion, Special Apostle S.M Kehinde, urged the band members to continue in aggressive evangelism as the world inches nearer to the end time.

“As a band named after Queen Easter of the biblical times, we expect that the significance of the merriment of the 30th anniversary should not be limited to celebrations alone.

“This is the time to take up aggressive evangelism and impart virtues to the coming generation.

“Queen Easter stood up to save the children of Israel, we also expect you to stand up for this nation in the area of prayers and intercession,” Kehinde urged.

The church’s leader, Special Apostle H.A Soremekun, appreciated the band members for their frontline dedication and support of the church.

He said the band is a pride to the church, charging members to continue to live exemplary lives expected of virtuous women redeemed by Christ.

The 30th anniversary, which featured special guests from other branches of the C&S movement folds, was preceded by revivals and prayer meetings and a seminar on how to manage in-law relationship within the family.

  • Maintaining divine health!

Whealthe recognise from scriptures that God’s divine purpose for the Church is to stay in divine health. This is why God has made a sickness-free provision for all His people and He wants us to know and walk in that. As it is written: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (3 John 2).

Essentially, God has done everything possible for us to be in good health. That is why Jesus came. However, there is no short-cut to divine health as there are basic rules to it. If we must get divine health, we must follow the rules faithfully, with determination and zeal. Remember, God is not the author of sickness, the devil is, and he is still in the business of planning and devising new diseases, to release into the world. However, to avoid being a victim of unsteady health, it is important to know our right to health and maintain it. Therefore, to stay healthy, we must engage the following:

    • The Word of God: For the believer, the Word is the source of life. If we are cut off from it, we are removed from the source of life and that will kill us fast. Unfortunately, many people handle the Word with levity. They allow their Word study to be interrupted anyhow. This is not profitable for us. Look at the example of Mary and Martha; she gave herself to cooking, while her sister sat at the feet of the Master to learn. As a result, Jesus answered and said unto her: Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her (Luke 10:41-42). Jesus told her, one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that part. It is time for us as believers to do the needful by getting acquainted with God through His Word. Let us understand that God’s Word is the only medication that does not only heal but helps us stay healthy. We need to get acquainted with it through studying and hearing. By this, our health is sure to be secured and stable.
    • Faith: For us to maintain our health, we must be in faith always as it is dangerous to wait to be afflicted with diseases before putting our faith to work. That is one way we can keep sickness off our lives.
    • Fasting: This is another weapon that must be engaged to stay healthy. Many Christians think fasting is optional. However, Jesus did not give us that impression. As it is written: When ye fast. Not ‘If ye fast.’ (Mathew 6:16). It means fasting is a compulsory part of the Christian walk. Obviously, if we have really given ourselves to prayer and fasting, we will notice the refreshing that follows and our health comes back to us with vigour.
    • Diligence: A lot of people are sick and weak because they are lazy and idle. It is commonly said that the devil finds work for the idle hand. The truth is, if we are always lazing around, the devil will affect us and strike us at a time we do not expect. Therefore, in maintaining our divine health, hard work is inevitable. Just like an unused and uninhabited building rot easily. Similarly, our bodies are God’s building which we are not to leave idle. God wants us to contribute to maintaining our divine health through hard work. When we do, our sleep will be sound which will in turn help our system to improve.
    • Wisdom: Wisdom is another important point we need to know. It is also indispensable in all areas of life. Interestingly, hard work must be merged with wisdom. Thus, we do not need to overwork ourselves unnecessarily. This is because when we do, our health is affected adversely. This is why wisdom is essential in all endeavours. If we ignore it, we will most definitely run into difficulties.
    • Confession: The Bible says life and death are in the power of the tongue. Therefore we must speak health always. We should recognise that the Word of God spoken boldly in faith is a creative force. Therefore, we should speak it loudly and boldly from the heart.
    • Love: We need a large heart to love the brethren. This will definitely work to our advantage. Remember that we are not losing anything by loving. Everybody, who is acceptable to God, should be acceptable to us. When we do, this will in turn help us overcome lots of difficulties in life.
    • Holiness: There is no way we can persist in sinful habits and expect to be in divine health. If we are not serving God in holiness and purity of heart, we cannot expect Him to minister divine health to us. Remember, sin brought sickness into the world, so sin must be completely eliminated if divine health is to be established in our lives.
    • Holy Communion: This sacrament is a way of showing faith in the finished work of Christ in our health. As often as we do it, we show the world and confirm in our bodies that Christ has taken our grief and sorrows in His body and His blood is transfused into our veins.
    • The Holy Spirit: The ministry of the Holy Spirit is more than what many believers think it to be. Among others, He is the seal of the Godhead in our health. Furthermore, He is the Chief Executive of God’s plan and that includes divine health.
    • Fellowship: This is the New Testament Mount Zion outlined in Hebrews 12:22-24 and Obadiah 17. According to these scriptures, in Zion, our constant health is guaranteed. We go from strength to strength by appearing before God and innumerable company of angels.

The truth applied and received accurately, will lift us to a place of total health. I pray that as you applied these truths, you will stay in health and always.

Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!”  For further reading, please get my books: Keys to Divine Health, the Healing Balm, The Miracle Meal and Fulfilling Your Days. • THEME: THE FULL ARMOUR OF GOD (18)

Sub-Theme: The Strong Belt of Truth

    Topic: The Spirit of Truth

The Spirit of Truth is the Holy Spirit of God that indwells those who believe in God through Jesus Christ, His Son. We can do nothing right without the help of the Holy Spirit; we cannot truly know God without the Holy Spirit revealing who God is to us, and we cannot live a holy and acceptable life before God without the help of the Holy Spirit. God arranged for Cornelius and his household to receive this great gift of the Spirit. What a blessed family!

God has graciously given you and me, all that we need to excel in life and make the world a better place, but unfortunately, the world is still in gross darkness because many people have chosen to live in constant disobedience to the Way and plans God set for us. They would not believe in the Truth- Jesus Christ, as the Son of God whom God sent to set the world free from darkness, by so doing, they reject God’s spirit whom He gave to be our helper. Yet, these rebellious people claim to know and worship God. Can one genuinely worship whom he disobeys? The rebellious say, “There are many ways to reach God and it doesn’t matter which way one chooses, we are all worshipping the same God.” While God says there is ONLY one-Way to reach Him, which is through Jesus Christ, this is the truth, much hated.

Why is the world constantly against the truth, preferring to stick to error? The hatred for the Truth and followers/teachers of the Truth did not start today, didn’t Jesus rightly say, “If the world hates you, know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.  Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also, but all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.  If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also.  If I had not done among them the works, which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father, but this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.”

Why should people hate someone who is so peaceful and full of good deeds, whom God sent to help them?

The unrest we have in Nigeria today is because people are rebellious, mischievous, evil, and violent in their ways, doing things only for ulterior motives. All these because they have refused the reign of the government of the Prince of Peace- Jesus Christ in their lives, and by so doing they also reject the helper; the Spirit of Truth and peace. This is taking us backward. Who/what you worship show in the way you live.

God says that the weapon of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. These write-ups on the full armour of God reveal the weapons God gave us to fight battles, as recorded in the scriptures. Why are we neglecting/rejecting them? Choosing rather to fight our own way with carnal/physical weapons, the result of which is definitely defeat. The battle is more spiritual than physical, hence the need for spiritual/God’s weapon.

Man just wants to live as he pleases without acknowledging God and the result is the chaos in the world today.

Nigeria and the world at large need Jesus like never before, each individual needs to accept and believe in the Prince of peace, who will give us the Holy Spirit- the Spirit of Truth to help us; teaching and guiding us into All truth. Helping us to live in accordance to the will of God, in genuine love for God and our fellow humans, being used to bring about peace and justice, this will make us a developed nation.

My daily prayer is to be a Holy Spirit-controlled woman, and I see the effect of this prayer in my life daily.

We need the Spirit of Truth to rule our lives always.

  • Inspiration, colour at House on The Rock’s Emerge conference

Inspiration, colour at House on The Rock’s Emerge conference

For five days, thousands of worshippers converged on House of The Rock’s exquisite auditorium for an eye-opening conference on personal and national development, reports Sunday Oguntola

THEY came from virtually every part of the country to Lekki, Lagos. Final destination was the 22,000-seater Rock Cathedral. Event was Emerge 2017 of House on The Rock. The human and vehicular traffic almost brought Lekki to a standstill.

But the crowd did not mind the  inconveniences. Many of them considered the  pains  incomparable to the eternal values of the life-changing teachings of  what they came for.

The elegant edifice was filled to the brim. It was literally jammed on all floors. The crowd spilled to adjoining streets and corners. The crowd did not bother. What was at stake was far bigger and more compelling.

The convener, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, is never one to disappoint. He had everything thought out. His passion for excellence was evident from the conspicuous banners announcing the event, donning all major roads to Lekki.

But beyond the exteriors, Adefarasin is clearly committed to changing lives and destinies. That informed the globally renowned preachers lined up for the five-day sojourn to greatness.

They included the iconic Bishop TD Jakes, the proverbial Lion of Zimbabwe, Bishop Tudor Bismark; gospel music impresario, Donnie McClurkin, and five apostolic teachers delivering the word from different dimensions mixed with impressive indigenous artistes and gospel ministers.

The lighting in the auditorium was exquisite. The flakes splashed successively all around, draping the walls, the pulpit and the worshippers in all hues of colours.

The Metropolitan Choir was looking resplendent, forcing the beat out of the instrumentalists, drummers and the saturated worshippers.

Decked in chocolate and blue jackets, Adefarasin was all joy as he rolled out the schedules of the five-day conference with the theme Emerge. He was of the assurance that lives would emerge victorious and well-directed to the path of relevance by the closing session.

Delving into the word, he taught on the virtue of patience and waiting for divine timing based on Joseph’s story on Genesis 41.

“Don’t get tired of waiting for your time. When it was time for Joseph’s emergence, he was released from prison. If he had been released earlier or later he wouldn’t have fulfilled purpose. Your time will come in Jesus name,” he declared.

The good-looking preacher is pained Nigeria is lagging behind in a number of development indices. Pointing to several young billionaires making giant strides worldwide, he said they all leverage on transformational opportunities to impact their societies.

He urged Nigerian youths to equally optimise their potential and leverage available opportunities to emerge so that they could change their world.

“What we are facing in Nigeria today is an opportunity for great leaders like you to emerge. Those with great leadership quality so that they can change the course of history; someone with clear vision of what could be done to bring the country out,” Adefarasin said.

Charging the government to invest in intellectual and physical infrastructure development, he said without it development in the country would remain a pipe dream.

According to him, Nigeria and other under-developed countries are in their quagmire because of failure to invest in human capacity.

“God is not in the business of giving money to those who do not know what to do with it. He wants us wealthy, he wants us influential but we must also be ready before such could happen,” he said.

By the time he introduced the main speaker, Bishop TD Jakes, the auditorium was overcharged. Adefarasin said: ‘’He is a repository of knowledge, ubiquitous, a man whose life has greatly transformed millions around the world.

“He is a leaders’ leader, father and many people call him the bishop of bishops; we have many instructors but this man is in a class of his own. I am very proud he calls me son and I call him, father.’’

The auditorium erupted in an uproar of praise.

With his trademark baritone voice, Jakes described Adefarasin as a good host. He quickly pointed at Exodus 34:1-5 and its relationship with the conference theme, saying: “The entire book of Exodus is about the struggle to emerge. It is easy to say it but it is not easy to emerge.

‘’You cannot keep your hair fancy and want to emerge; you cannot look poise and polite and emerge. You look strange to give birth, and birth is death…”

Saying life is in different phases of the same journey, Jakes explained presence in one state is absence in the other. Those who do not understand this dynamic, according to him, are usually taken unawares and tend to grumble when God says it is time to move on to another stage of their development cycle.

Using Moses as an example, he reiterated: “Never mistake your transportation for your destination.”

Bishop Tudor Bismark taught on the blessings of dominion in a life fraught with limitations and challenges, saying that the one thing the believer needs to emerge out of these limitations was dominion anointing as had Esau.

For Bishop Wayne Malcolm, revelation is necessary for emergence, as it is revelation that sets the human expectation and ultimately triggers his emergence.

“Revelation gives you a fight of faith and opens your eyes to new dimensions.”

Lagos governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, in a goodwill message, commended Adefarasin for the successful hosting of the conference but also for being a good corporate citizen.

Ambode equally invited other residents of the state to partner with the state government in making Lagos the ideal home for all.

As the curtain drew on the conference, the overcharged worshippers left the auditorium with spark in their eyes and determination, having learnt the keys to emerging significant in life.

  • How church can overcome challenges, by Akinadewo

Unity is essential for churches to overcome challenges facing them in the 21st century, the Prelate of Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Worldwide, Dr Israel Akinadewo, has stated.

He spoke last week as guest speaker at a one-day symposium titled the church and the challenges of the 21st century at the National Headquarters of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Makoko, Lagos.

The symposium was part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of the church.

Akinadewo identified challenges facing churches to include persecution, inter-religious conflict, funding, leadership struggles, heretical beliefs and involvement in secular politics.

Others, according to him, include state policies, tribalism and nepotism, denominational differences and materialism.

He however said all of these challenges are surmountable if churches they come together to pool knowledge, resources and manpower together.

The Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) Lagos Chapter said churches can stick together would overcome whether challenges are thrown their way.

According to him: “One thing the church must understand is the solutions to these cannot come externally; it must come from within.

“Therefore, the more united the church is, the more divided, the enemies of the church, would be.”

He added: “To strengthen the church against external attack, the church must maximise benefits associated with its denominational diversities for its own greater advantage.

“Before the end of this century, the threat to the church will be more from within, and not necessarily from other religious bodies as many have expressed.

“This is due to our divided activities and holier-than-thou way of life. Our inability to internally correct ourselves but destroying ourselves on the pages of newspapers and social media is also a major weapon that will be used against the church at large in the nearest future.”

  • Understanding our redemptive rights to total health!

The Word of God is the principal Balm in Gilead for our total health and it is full of the prescriptions of the Great Physician. As it is written: He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions (Psalms 107:20). We also understand from scriptures that Jesus is the living Word: In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God (John1:1). The living Word is the only authentic source of answers to impossible questions concerning our health. This means whatever the Word prescribes is Jesus’ prescription for our healing.

Furthermore, we must understand that there are no scientific or medical solutions to satanic/spiritual oppressions. No scientific physician can deliver from spiritual oppression, no matter his expertise. For instance, the Bible records that the woman with the issue of blood had spent all her money on physicians for twelve years but was not healed because it was an oppression of the devil. However, when she encountered the healing virtue of Jesus, that oppression ceased and she was made whole immediately (Luke 8:43).

In Luke 13:11-13, we saw a woman plagued by the “spirit of infirmity”, which literarily means sickness, for 18 years. When Jesus said to her, “Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity,” she was made whole instantly. Furthermore, King Asa was plagued with a disease in his foot. It was a clear oppression but he sought solution from a wrong source. As a result, he died of that affliction (2 Chronicles 16:12-13).

It is important to know that Jesus, the Great Physician, is the only One who has authentic answers to the oppression of the devil in our lives; including the spirit of infirmity.  That is, there is no sickness or disease without an answer with Jesus. We either find solution from Jesus or keep searching for it forever. However, it is important to understand our right to total health because it will establish our stand when challenged, and fortify our confidence to be in command (Proverbs 24:5; Daniel 11:32). Nevertheless, it takes an in-depth knowledge of God’s provision on any issue, before we can be truly be confident to pursue same.

Therefore, let’s examine our redemptive rights to total health.

    • By redemption, we share eternal life with God which is immune to all sicknesses and diseases: At new birth, we were translated from the realm of human life to eternal life. ‘Eternal life’ means the God-kind of life or divine life. That makes us divinity in human flesh, which also connotes our dominion over life’s situations; including sicknesses and diseases which cannot be found in divinity. Therefore, whatever cannot survive in Jesus cannot operate in our bodies (Romans 6:23). Moreover, we are redeemed to be far from oppression, which includes sicknesses and diseases, because we are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Isaiah 54:14; Ephesians 1:21, 2:6).
    • By the Holy Ghost that dwells in us, we are spiritually empowered to enjoy divine health: Our right to total health in redemption is also established by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, which quickens our mortal bodies to healthy living. As it is written: But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you (Romans 8:11). At new birth, our spirit-man came alive and began to fellowship with the Spirit of God, who we were equipped with in a measure. Remember, the Bible says that the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God (Romans 8:16).

Furthermore, one of the principal prescriptions of the Great Physician is the mystery of the ‘Anointing Oil.’ Concerning Jesus, the Bible records: And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits… And they went out, and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them (Mark 6:7, 12-13). Jesus gave them the oil and called it power. That power has the capacity to heal our bodies of every sickness and disease. David was anointed with oil and the Spirit of the Lord came upon him. That means inside the oil dwells the presence of the Holy Spirit. When we take a shot of the oil, the Holy Ghost goes through our bodies, sweeps it clean and burns the chaff of sickness, and disease, thereby establishing our liberty from every torture of life (Matthew 3:11-12; 1 Samuel 16:13).

Let’s recognise that though God’s Word is the principal balm for our total health, it is putting the prescriptions of the Word to work that guarantees our healing. The prescriptions of God’s Word are not scriptures to quote but instructions to obey. This is because it is not the scriptures we quote that work but the one we apply. Remember that Jesus gave His disciples the oil and called it power. Yet, they had to put the power to use before healings erupted. This is why faith is not just believing God; rather, it is putting God’s Word to work to prove that we believe Him so He can make good His promise (James 2:18).

In conclusion, at new birth, our health issues were settled eternally; for if the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:36). This makes new birth a vital requirement that qualifies us for wholeness. • Daystar donates school materials to 20,000 pupils

Daystar donates school materials to 20,000 pupils

No fewer than 20,000 pupils received educational support materials from Daystar Christian Centre during its back-to-school scheme.

The church distributed  bags, books and writing materials at six centres in Idimu, Agege, Ikorodu, Lekki, Badagry and Oregun.

Senior Pastor, Sam Adeyemi, told reporters that the scheme was to enable the pupils settle down well in the new academic session.

He said Daystar Christian Centre initiated the scheme because of its firm belief that church is about impact, not cathedrals.

Adeyemi pointed out the value of any church is measured by its impacts on the society, not the size of its buildings.

According to him: “As a church, we believe and practice the teaching of Christ on being responsible to the society where we live. What is the value of a church if it can contribute to the society?

‘’We noticed the gap and a unit in our church started it over seven years ago and it has since become an annual event for us.’’
