Insecurity has reached peak, it can only be declining, says Bishop Adelakun

The Presiding Bishop of Victory International Church, Ibadan, Bishop Taiwo Adelakun, has stated that the country’s insecurity crisis has reached its peak, assuring that incidents of kidnapping, banditry, and other forms of violence are set to decline.

Adelakun, who also serves as the National Vice President (Southwest) of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), made the remarks during a press conference at Rehoboth Cathedral, Oluyole, Ibadan.

He addressed pressing national issues and unveiled plans for the 2026 Global Miracle Crusade.

The seventh edition of the Global Miracle Crusade is scheduled to hold from Thursday, January 29, to Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crusade Ground in Wonder City, opposite Dominion University along the Ibadan–Lagos Expressway.

Speaking on the nation’s security situation, Adelakun acknowledged its severity but emphasized that the current challenges mark a climax rather than a permanent state.

Bishop Adelakun said, “I believe we have reached the climax of insecurity in Nigeria. From this point, it will only go down. It will not rise again. Anyone who wants to destroy Nigeria, God will not allow it.”

The cleric said recent violent incidents across different parts of the country have exposed what he described as long-standing denial of targeted killings and persecution, particularly against Christians.

He added that these developments are becoming increasingly evident to the international community and could lead to stronger global engagement in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.

“Recent events have exposed the hypocrisy and false narrative that there is no genocide or persecution in Nigeria.

“These realities are making clear statements to the world and will embolden the international community, especially the United States, to become more involved in addressing insecurity, kidnapping, and killings in Nigeria,” he said.

While acknowledging the depth of the crisis, Adelakun said divine intervention often manifests when nations appear overwhelmed, stressing that hardship does not negate God’s promise of help.

“When God says, ‘I will help you,’ it presupposes that there will be challenges and situations where we are helpless, but His help covers every situation”, he added.

While speaking about the Global Miracle Crusade, Adelakun said attendance has grown steadily over the past three editions, which he described as a confirmation of the church’s expanding mandate. He added that the programme has now assumed a global dimension, with participants joining through digital platforms from multiple continents.

To ensure accessibility, the church plans to deploy free shuttle buses across all 11 local government areas in Ibadan, covering routes from Moniya, Ojoo, University of Ibadan, Mokola, Bodija, Yemetu, Bere, Molete, Ring Road, Challenge, Toll Gate, and parts of Lagelu Local Government.

Adelakun said the crusade would focus not only on spiritual renewal but also on restoring hope in a country grappling with fear and uncertainty.

He urged Nigerians to attend with expectation, stressing that salvation remains central to the programme, alongside healing, restoration, and divine direction, saying, “nothing can be given in exchange for a soul. What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?”

He also emphasised the importance of moral and spiritual engagement at a time when political and security responses appear strained, noting that public officials and policymakers are not immune to moral messages from religious platforms.

  • Prophet Oluwumi links worsening insecurity to spiritual decay

Prophet Oluwumi links worsening insecurity to spiritual decay

A prominent cleric and President of Christ For Souls Ministries, Prophet Odedoyin Oluwumi, has raised alarm over the worsening insecurity in northern Nigeria, warning that the ongoing violence cuts across religious lines and reflects a deep spiritual crisis.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos, the cleric said the persistent killings are not limited to Christians alone but affect people of all faiths, which he attributed to what he described as humanity’s failure to worship God in accordance with divine instructions.

Revealing prophecies he said were recently delivered, Oluwumi blamed the bloodshed on a loss of spiritual power, knowledge and focus within society and religious institutions.

“Go and listen to the recent prophecy. It said they will kill my people because they lack power, knowledge, and focus. The majority of the church, as well as the majority of the worship centres,s have become dens of wolves. Many who you call Christians don’t even know Christ. They don’t know God. God has not appeared to them,” the cleric said.

He stressed that the violence has become indiscriminate, affecting both Christians and non-Christians alike.

“Not only arethey being killed. As they were killing Christians, other people were dying too,” he said.

According to the prophet, the killings are part of a broader spiritual crisis with global implications. He suggested that world events, including political developments beyond Nigeria, are influenced by divine authority.

“Look at the issue of the president of the United States. It was here, along with the prophecy I’m bringing. He said it will do what you like and what you don’t like, affecting everything. Killing is happening everywhere. Do you think God will not avenge His people? Innocent blood is crying out,” he stated.

Oluwumi warned that disobedience to God’s will could invite spiritual consequences, including instability and suffering.

“When you are not doing what pleases God, God can allow the devil to torment you. If you are talking about Christ, there won’t be a better government until Christ comes,” he said.

Touching on political and international matters, the cleric said he had previously issued prophecies relating to global developments, including Africa.

“I prophesied about the emergence of Zimbabwe. This will be the last prophecy I run on political matters. People are not aware of what is happening spiritually in this country,” he said.

As violence continues across parts of the country, the prophet urged individuals to return to what he described as genuine worship and reliance on God.

“You have to call on God. Once you don’t call Him, He will be looking at you. God knows about the suffering. But people don’t recognize Him. They don’t do His will,” he warned.

He concluded by drawing parallels between the present generation and biblical accounts of divine judgment.

“This generation is worse than Sodom and Gomorrah. If you follow God’s will, you will be spared. If not, you will face the consequences. During the time of Noah, the majority died, and only Noah and his family were saved,” he declared.

The cleric’s remarks serve as both a warning and a call for spiritual reflection, as insecurity and violence continue to claim lives across Nigeria.

Payment of first fruit should not cause hardship — Genesis

Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, the Presiding Pastor of Genesis Global Church, popularly known as Prophet Genesis, has advised Christians that the payment of first fruit offerings should not be done at the expense of their well-being or that of their loved ones.

Speaking during a recent interview, the cleric said he was compelled to address the issue following several troubling cases brought to his attention.

According to him, many believers become anxious during the first month of the year, worrying about how they will cope financially if they give out their first fruit.

He cited the example of a church member who had ₦500,000 but was torn between paying his first fruit and assisting his mother with her rent.

“He wanted to use the money to pay first fruit because he had been told that those who do not pay it will not receive God’s blessings,” Prophet Genesis explained. “When the matter came to me, I told him that God would not want his mother to be thrown out of her house or live in discomfort. God does not delight in the suffering of His children.”

He added that it was to address such misconceptions that Genesis Global Church holds a Monthly Crossover Service, aimed at helping members transition spiritually and practically into a new month with clarity and understanding.

Prophet Genesis further announced that the church will dedicate Sunday, January 18, 2025, to discussing the topic of first fruit and related issues in a special programme tagged “Podcast Sunday.”

He invited individuals who are confused about such teachings to attend, learn the correct biblical principles, and ask questions that will deepen their understanding.

Isaac Oyedepo begins Sunday services, rejects offering collections

Founder of Isaac Oyedepo Evangelistic Ministries (IOEM), Pastor Isaac Oyedepo, has reiterated that the core mandate of his ministry is to make disciples of all nations.

He made this known in a recent online message monitored by The Nation. In the video, posted recently, the young cleric emphasised that his ministry will focus on discipleship and spiritual growth, while deviating from some traditional church practices—most notably by not collecting offerings.

The announcement coincided with the launch of IOEM’s Sunday Services, which will now be held weekly from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in Abuja.

During the broadcast, Oyedepo said his approach is patterned after the early ministry of Jesus Christ.

“All Jesus did during His early ministry was to make disciples. The fire fell, and they were filled and refilled. Before He left, He commanded us to do the same,” he stated.

He added that true spiritual growth requires a consistent journey through the Word of God, asking, “How healthy would our churches be if people were truly deep in the Scriptures?”

Addressing the financial structure of the ministry, Oyedepo disclosed that God specifically instructed him not to collect offerings.

While acknowledging that there is nothing wrong with the practice in other ministries, he explained that for this particular assignment, his focus must remain strictly on the spiritual development of the people.

Born on February 26, 1985, Oyedepo formally transitioned into his independent ministry on November 28, 2023, after several years of service at Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), the global ministry founded by his father, Bishop David Oyedepo.

Testimony Jaga blends worship with massive community outreach

The One Jesus One Church One Hallelujah Programme, an annual praise, worship, and humanitarian outreach initiative organized by popular gospel music minister Testimony Jaga, recorded another landmark outing as it held its sixth edition, impacting hundreds of lives through worship, empowerment, and social intervention.

The programme, which attracted a massive turnout, featured extended praise and worship sessions led by notable gospel ministers, including Minister Lilian Nneji, Esther Igbekele, Dare Justified, Elijah Daniel, and several other worship leaders who joined Testimony Jaga in leading the congregation to appreciate God through songs and thanksgiving.

Speaking during the event, Testimony Jaga stated that the Hallelujah Programme was established purely to glorify God and serve humanity.

“This programme is about lifting the name of Jesus and appreciating God. This is the sixth edition, and every year I intentionally invite ministers to come and help us worship God and thank Him for all He has done in our lives,” he said.

Unlike conventional gospel concerts, the Hallelujah Programme deliberately combines spiritual activities with structured humanitarian outreach. This year’s edition featured a children’s party, a free medical outreach, and a boxing programme, all designed to engage different segments of the community.

A major highlight of the event was the large-scale distribution of empowerment items and relief materials to beneficiaries drawn from the community and the general public. Items given out included tricycles, bicycles, mini buses, industrial sewing machines, deep freezers, grinding machines, and other valuable equipment aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, mobility, and self-reliance.

Explaining the motivation behind the outreach, Testimony Jaga revealed that the programme is closely tied to his personal background and ongoing scholarship initiative.

“I grew up in Alagbado, Lagos, and I currently have many students there under my scholarship programme. This Hallelujah Programme is anchored on that vision, giving hope, supporting education, and empowering people from the community that raised me,” he explained.

Jaga further disclosed that the initiative is largely self-sponsored, noting that no corporate or institutional body officially partnered with the programme.

“I am the only sponsor of this programme, with support from some of my church members. There is no organization partnering with us in funding or execution,” he said.

However, he acknowledged that some brands showed support through participation.

“We appreciate Kellogg’s and Indomie for lending their presence at the event. Their show of support encouraged the programme,” he added.

According to Testimony Jaga, the ultimate objective of the One Jesus Church Hallelujah Programme is community transformation through giving.

“The purpose is to touch lives and make a real impact in society. Worship should not end on the altar; it must reflect in how we give back and care for people,” he stated.

Beneficiaries and attendees described the programme as both spiritually uplifting and socially impactful, noting that the combination of worship, empowerment, and outreach set it apart from regular gospel events.

Over the years, the One Jesus Church Hallelujah Programme has continued to grow in scope and impact, establishing itself as a faith-driven platform for praise, compassion, and community development, while reinforcing Testimony Jaga’s message that true worship is expressed through service to humanity.

Adeboye attributes life, ministry to God’s mercy

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on Nigerians to humbly seek God’s mercy for total breakthrough and a complete turnaround in the New Year.

He also attributed the survival of British-Nigerian boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, in a recent auto crash that claimed two lives, to the mercy of God.

Adeboye made these remarks during the 2026 Special Sunday Thanksgiving Service at the Throne of Grace, RCCG Headquarters, Ebute Metta, Lagos, where he offered prayers for families and generations.

The revered cleric repeatedly attributed his life, ministry, and continued relevance to divine mercy, stressing that his journey has been sustained not by intellect, strength, or human effort, but by God’s compassion.

“I am alive today because of the mercy of the Lord,” Adeboye said, citing Psalm 18:35 and Romans 9:14–16 to underscore that greatness, preservation, and fulfilment are products of God’s mercy, not human will.

Reflecting on his personal salvation story, he recalled how he initially mocked the church’s name and humble beginnings before God, through mercy, drew him to repentance and faith.

“It was mercy that brought me to the foot of the cross and mercy that has kept me till today,” he said.

Adeboye cautioned believers against overconfidence and self-reliance, warning that such attitudes often lead people away from God. He referenced biblical figures and contemporary ministers who once walked in power but later fell.

“I am standing today by mercy,” he declared. “And the same mercy that brought me this far will take me all the way home.”

Speaking at the event, the Special Assistant to the General Overseer (Administration) and Pastor in charge of RCCG Region 1, Pastor Dele Balogun, warned that God’s mercy should not be abused.

“God is sovereign and shows mercy according to His will,” Balogun said. “But man must be careful not to abuse this privilege, or it could be withdrawn.”

He urged Nigerians to turn away from violence and immorality.

“God opposes the shedding of innocent blood, and a lot of blood has been shed in this country,” he said. “For Nigerians to be entitled to God’s mercy, they must repent and seek His face.”
