  • ‘Why Nigerians should be hopeful’

The Presiding Bishop of Mercy Tabernacle Lagos, Bankole Jefferson, have lifted the less privileged with relief materials during the last festive period.

Recalling how he came about the programme tagged Help from above, Bankole said: “At that point in my life, I was hungry I had no food to eat and was waiting on thy Lord as a young pastor.

“A neighbor brought cooked rice and sent a housemaid to bring the food. Along the neighbor’s house to my resident the young man tampered with the meat inside the food. I opened the food and asked him: you have eaten the meat inside what happened but because I was hungry I had to eat.”

He continued:  ”So I had to bow down my head to pray thanking God for the provision and then I heard a voice from thy Lord: God said I made you go through this hunger to feel the pain of the hungry through the street and for this; you are receiving a new order right now to start feeding the poor.

“Then I asked: how can a poor man feed the poor people? God told me He will provide and as I took obedience with the word we began. We started with half bag of rice, today we have thousands of people coming to Mercy Tabernacle to collect food and God has been prospering us.”

On the state of the nation, he said:  “I have always believed that President Buhari was not coming to government to embezzle people’s money but he doesn’t seem to have bearing on the economy’s agenda.

“My message for Nigerians this year is there is hope. Those who know the Lord their God shall do exploits. It is now time for people to come back and know the Lord.”

  • Nigerians must return to God, says Ajayi

The President of Christ Apostolic Mission Church, Rev Adesoji Ajayi, has called on Nigerians to return to God in true repentance for realisation of the nation’s much anticipated growth and development.

Ajayi spoke with reporters ahead of the 52nd anniversary of the church in Lagos.

He recalled the economy was buoyant and God was backing the country and until FESTAC Arts and Culture festival in 1977 when everything nosedived after Nigerians chose to worship idols.

“We faced Satan and took our eyes away from God since 77. Nigerians have not had it good since then,” he said.

Ajayi, who is optimistic, stressed that President Muhammadu Buhari can be the save the nation because he has good intentions.

“He is very transparent, thorough and accountable, which are qualities that Nigerian leaders need to move the country forward,” he said.

He pleaded with Nigerians to be patient with Buhari till 2017 when the economic challenges would have abated.

“There will be good fortune for Nigeria because it would have been 40 years after 1977 where God would have seen our suffering as big enough for him to forgive us.”

He took a swipe at the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, who he said erred by not staying neutral during the last general elections.

  • Pastor launches three books, two albums

The founder of King of Kings Evangelical Ministries Lagos, Pastor Evans Mozurunyem, has launched a music album and three books.

The books are titled Overcoming forces of discouragement, quenching the fire, stilling the storm and Over and above.”

The album and books, according to him, were not for “commercial reason but a message of deliverance to the world.”

He added: “God gave me this commission. This is an injunction of God; His directive to me.”

Mozurunyem, at the launch, treated guests to some tracks such as God of Mercy and Let it shine upon my life from the album.

The album titled Karisma and e-Gospel are the first from the church founder.

He assured he will release more based on inspiration.

“For as long as God continues to inspire me and the spirit of ministering in songs continues to come upon me, the songs will continue to unfold with time,” Mozurunyem said.

  • Shun materialism, GKS tasks Christians

The Chairman, Executive Board God’s Kingdom Society (GKS), Brother Godwin Ifeacho has called on Christians to shun materialism and remain watchful as the coming of the Lord draws near.

Ifeacho spoke last Sunday at the one-week long Christian Feast of Tabernacles organised by the church at the St Urhobo Square, Salem City, Warri, Delta State.

The programme attracted thousands across the country with bible lecture, musical festival, children assembly and Christian possession.

The high point was when members from Lagos, Oyo, Calabar, Abuja, Kano, Edo, walked from Urhobo town to Sapele, stadium road in Delta State with much fanfare.

Ifeacho said Christians must not make acquisition of material things their main preoccupation.

According to him:  “It is the blessings of God that gives true riches which one will enjoy with peace and which most importantly gives one everlasting life in God’s kingdom when fully established by Gods grace. That is what we should seek after.”

He highlighted the vanity of inordinate and insatiable desire for material things with the erroneous belief that one’s life is secured by abundance.

“We are not sufficient of ourselves and so we have to acknowledge that it is by the grace of God that our plans, which are according to his will, would bear fruit or be successful,” he stressed.

He lamented that unbridled quest for materialism has created massive corruption, which is killing the nation.

“Corruption is the single most critical contemporary threat to development, democracy and human security in Nigeria.

“It is responsible for most of the conflicts that are presented in ethnic and religious terms,” he said.

He lamented many church leaders cannot teach their adherents to live godly lives, be diligent and to continue in well doing.

Instead, he said they make people believe that gain is godliness or evidence of blessing from God.

  • Encounter with power through prayer & fasting!

Encounter with power through prayer & fasting!

We are in the last days in the body of Christ, which are characterized by the manifestation of God’s power. This is when the kingdoms of this world shall become the kingdom of God before the arrival of Christ. It is also an era where the power of resurrection shall be in manifestation more than ever before. Furthermore, in these last days, the redeemed of the Lord shall be manifesting the messianic order of anointing (Mark 9:29; Acts 2:16-20; Psalms 110:1-3; Revelation 11:15; Philippians 3:10; Acts 14:11).

HOW DO WE ENCOUNTER THIS POWER?

Through a desperate desire: From scriptures, ‘desperation’ is interpreted as a thirst, a crave, a longing and a panting (Psalm 63:1-2; Isaiah 44:3-4; Isaiah 41:17-18).

Through the prayer altar: Empowerment answers to demand, not wishes and that is why the altar of prayer is the altar of empowerment. Jesus said: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? (Luke 11:13). We must recognize that empowerment is impossible without prayer. It is through prayers that we move from power to great power. For instance, when the apostles prayed in Acts 1:14 and Acts 2:1-4, they were empowered by the Holy Spirit. However, when they prayed again in Acts 4:32-33, they were re-empowered into the realm of great power (Luke 3:21-22, 9:28-35, 43). Likewise, we can pray for the release of God’s power on our lives for greater exploits.

Through fasting: We discover from scriptures that fasting is primarily ordained for spiritual empowerment, not for making requests. In other words, fasting empowers us to be in command of our needs (Isaiah 58:6). It is important to understand that though we pray to be empowered, we need fasting to walk in power. That’s why Jesus said, “When ye fast… when thou fast…” Fasting is a matter of ‘When’ not ‘If’. That means fasting must be our lifestyle and must be scheduled, just like prayer, in order to walk in the reality of empowerment (Matthew 6:16-17).

It is also important to note that fasting and prayer enhances our access to the Word which actually empowers us. For instance, it was a Word encounter that empowered Jacob into realms of exploits (Isaiah 58:8, 10; Isaiah 9:8; Romans 1:16). That is why no Word-lazy believer is a candidate for empowerment. Therefore, we must always pray to God to open our eyes to behold wondrous things out of His law (Psalms 119:18; Jeremiah 33:3).Everyone who desires to walk in power must subscribe to the demand of fasting. For instance, Jesus fasted for 40 days and the Bible records that He returned in the power of the Spirit (Luke 4:14). Moses also fasted for 40 days twice. As a result, he was a spirit being in human form. That was why he said: The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken (Deuteronomy 18:15; see also Exodus 7:1). He was Christ in a figure and he carried the messianic anointing on him (Exodus 24:18, 34:28). Similarly, Paul the apostle also prayed and fasted often. He said: …in watchings often… in fastings often… (2 Corinthians 11:27; see also 2 Corinthians 6:5). As a result, he was a man imbued with God’s power. No wonder it was said concerning him: …The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men (Acts 14:11).

Unfortunately, many people do not crave for empowerment because they believe that they are already empowered. However, it is important to understand that empowerment is in levels and we understand from scriptures that we can grow from one level of power to an overflowing realm. As it is written: Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side. And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins. Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over (Ezekiel 47:1-5). ‘River’ in the above scripture connotes the Holy Spirit or anointing. That was the realm of immeasurable anointing under which Christ operated. Remember, Jesus was anointed without measure and that is God’s target for us. This is why it is wisdom to take spiritual responsibility in order to increase our levels of empowerment to command dominion over situations and circumstances in our lives (Proverbs 24:10; John 3:34, 7:37-39).

However, dominion over situations and circumstances in our lives begins with being born again. Are you born again? To be born again means to accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord? If you haven’t, you can do so by saying this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!”

  • Martins tasks youths on use of internet

Youths have been urged to explore the positive aspects of the internet to grow their faith and knowledge of God.

Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos, His Grace, Most Rev Alfred Adewale Martins, gave the charge at the Diaconate ordination of three candidates Christopher Adeyemi Atoyebi, Emiri Odey Emmanuel and Vitalis Osinachi Ezeigwe at the Ss. Philip & James Catholic Church, Lekki Lagos.

Describing the internet as a tool for building knowledge, the Archbishop opined that it is no longer enough for youths to know God but to aspire to have personal relationship with him as the Alpha and Omega.

He said: “You should not use the internet just for e-mails and some of the regulars you do some of which are counterproductive, but you should use it to build your faith in God.

“Search for more knowledge about him, his ways and deeds. Don’t be satisfied with just knowing Christ, establish personal relationship with him,” he said

While praying for peace in the country, he reminded the faithful of the need to take the New Year, which has been declared Jubilee Year of Mercy seriously by imbibing the examples of Christ in words and action.

Ss Philip and James played host to Catholics from all walks of life including families and friends of the three new Deacons who thanked God for making their elevation to the Diaconate possible even as their well wishers continued to pray for them to ultimately become Reverend Fathers.

  • Cleric unveils new bible device

Bible Technology, a new device for understanding life issues and confronting challenges, has been unveiled in Lagos.

The designer, Apostle Toyin Praise, said the innovation is a

mechanical device, which offers insights into biblical secrets.

Praise told reporters in Lagos that the device will assist the new generation of Christians and political leaders with insights for their assignments.

He defined Bible Technology as the “overt use of a higher or deeper understanding of the word of God.”

Explaining the technicalities of the device, Praise, who is President of the Branch Ministry International, an Apostolic Outreach Ministry in Lagos said it consists of seven pillars, three of which can solve any problem under the sun.

Mentioning the three pillars as Gate, Set and Cast, Praise said gate represents ordering of events from the spiritual realm to the physical.

Gate, according to him, talks about access and barrier. “Anything that constitutes a hindrance, a barrier or an impediment to success or progress in the life of a man or a nation is gate.”

Set, he explained, is the discovery of barriers

and how they could be removed.

Cast, he said, is demystification of all that God has hid away from the world.

He assured that those who use the new device will receive solutions to long-standing problems in all facets of life.

  • ‘Christians will be part of the Great Tribulation’

‘Christians will be part of the Great Tribulation’

The Senior Pastor of Paradigm Shift Ministry, Pastor Jide Makinde, spoke with Sunday Oguntola on why Christians need to play closer attention to biblical evidence to have better understanding of events surrounding the end time. Excerpts:

Your new book is titled HitGalut. What does that mean?

HitGalut is the Hebrew translation of Revelation. People use Apocalypses, which is the Greek word for Revelation. Instead of saying Apocalypses, I used HitGalut. People have been asking me what it means and I have been doing a lot of explaining.

Why did you choose to write on the end-time?

Well, for me, it was not just about the desire to write a book. It was a message I got from God. I feel the Lord has sent me and I consider it a privilege. Usually, things like these should be coming from the establishments. But I believe the Lord singled me out to do it.

In 1965, I was in Primary Three and I had this unusual encounter. My father was in the Railway and we were in Offa. I had this dream as an eight-year-old. I saw a big well with water and fire was coming out of it.

I was shocked and intrigued. An uncle of us who was with us and had returned to Lagos said he wanted to go inside the well and I was begging him not to. He went into the well with the fire and water eventually. I went to the quarters of our Igbo neighbours at the railway and saw a miniature of the water and fire in the well. I didn’t understand what it was about. I couldn’t go to my dad because we were not close. This happened just before the civil war.

In 1967, all my Igbo friends relocated back to the East without exemption and many of them did not return. In 1969, my father was transferred to Kaduna but I stayed back in Offa to finish my secondary school.

In 1969, I went on holiday to Kaduna and my uncle I saw going inside the fire came to our house in full regalia of a Lieutenant. The Lord said to me that what I saw was my uncle going to the civil war. All those things prepared me for the revelations.

By 1984, I became born again and because of my interest, I was drawn to research. I saw some missing links in some of the messages of our leaders. I then invested in books and materials on end time. The more I read, the more I saw missing links. It wasn’t as if something was wrong with the messages but the chronology didn’t fall into place.

In 2005, I had a dream, 50 years after the first one. I saw chaos and everybody was on his/her own. I was feeling guilty and crying that God told me about this thing and I didn’t tell people. When I woke up, I knew I must start sharing what the Lord was showing me.

What is the main thrust of the book?

If you look at the chronology of end-time, you find a lot of churches talking about the rapture. The Catholic Church, Lutheran Church, Anglican Church, Methodist Church and Orthodox Church do not believe in the rapture. They believe Jesus Christ is coming back but not through the rapture. They don’t believe it at all. They believe we are already in the millennium.

The confusion is will the rapture happen before or after the Great Tribulations? My argument is the Bible is clear the Great Tribulations is before the rapture. The popular notion is that the rapture comes after the Great Tribulations. It is not possible because that is putting the horse before the cart.

The first seal is communism, which started in Russia and spread to China. Almost sixty percent came under communism. After that, there was Marxism. We then had economic imperialism, which was when the coalition of people came after Hitler. From this time, we would have an empire of communism with capitalism, which is a marriage of strange fellows.

In 1991, the same people metamorphosed into another thing. The Bible calls it the spirit of Death and Hell. That is the era where the world is now. It is good to know where we are to understand the globe and where we are going. That is the age we’d have terrorism, modern epidemics, economic depression and recession. Everything will really go down here and escalate.

Since we had 9/11, the world has not remained the same again. Everything is escalating. The terrorists are becoming more creative in the world. People think that it is a religious problem but it is not. If it is religious, religion would have cured it. But it is the spirit of Death and Hell that is controlling things now.

What we are contending is more dangerous than what happened in the first and second World Wars. As we are dealing with one here, another epidemic will be springing up everywhere. All of these will escalate to the point that the whole world will be looking up to a savior, which will make the anti-Christ to arise.

    Before the rapture?

Yes, he will arise from the USA with immense political power purportedly to save the world. American fundamentalists believe the Pope is the anti-Christ but the bible did not say so. The anti-Christ will come from a little horn. The anti-Christ will come from the USA. Something is going to happen in America that will affect the whole world.

In 1930, there was the Great American Depression that affected the whole world. In the same vein, a political or social event in America will trigger a global crisis that will give rise to the anti-Christ. He will just plant his proxies all over the world to rule on his behalf.

Netherlands has suggested that any nation that does not remit its bailouts will be under a Protectorate. If you cannot pay back, they will appoint a receivership over that nation. All these debts that we are plying up will allow the anti-Christ to take over nations of the world because they won’t be able to pay back.

That is when the issue of the mark of the anti-Christ will come. The BVN is already an indication of what will happen. You cannot function without an identity. The Church is waiting for the rapture but the Great Tribulations will come before the rapture.

But this is a new concept

Well, it is not new. It has always been there in the bible but the Christian establishment didn’t follow the sequence of events slated for the end-time. You see the belief that the rapture will come before the Great Tribulations came from the fundamentalists of America also known as Pre-troops.

The Church in Nigeria came from them. Once they got it wrong, we’d get it wrong too. I will appeal to our church leaders to go back to the bible and reconsider things. Unless we get things right, we wouldn’t be able to interpret what is happening around us.

So, contrary to established belief, Christians will participate in the Great Tribulations?

Yes, we will. All the early churches went through the Great Tribulations. Even Jesus went through it. All the fathers of faith went through it. The church went to sleep a King offered official protection. The revival started with the American church but where are they too? Jesus said the rapture will take place immediately after the Great Tribulations.

After the rapture, there will be the seventh seal, which is when God Himself will start punishing mankind. A lot of people misunderstand it for the Great Tribulations but it is not. A lot of Christians would have gone to collect the marks of the beast but God will seek want to save them. Extra-terrestrials beings will be the ones to preach them to persuade men.

You mean those who have collected the marks might still be saved?

Yes because God does not want anyone to be condemned. He will offer everyone a second chance again to accept Christ. By then, the headquarters of the anti-Christ will be in Jerusalem and there will be the battle of the Armageddon.

Are you saying the rapture is not the second coming of Christ?

It is not and I will tell you what it is about. The purpose of the rapture is what Americans always do when they want to take over a place. They will announce for all their citizens to come to the airport for evacuation. Once they have done that, the missiles and air bombardment comes in. Once they have destroyed the capability of the enemies to respond, the soldiers come in for mop-up operations.

Christ will do the same thing to evacuate His people not as permanent residents but as special refugees in heaven. They will be there for three-and-half years in heaven. They will go up there and come down when the anti-Christ has been destroyed for the millennial reign.

I had to go through a paradigm shift to absorb this revelation. My major appeal is that our leaders should unlearn everything and go through the bible again. If the Great Tribulations should happen, the danger is what happened during the holocausts will happen again.

The leaders didn’t teach them they will go through other tribulations. They thought they were done with it in AD 70.  They didn’t know there was another Nero that will come in the form of Hitler. They events of holocaust turned them to anti-god. They didn’t expect that God will watch them go through genocide.

Our leaders should prepare people because they might become anti-god if they experience the Great Tribulations.

  • Nigeria will overcome challenges, Adeboye assures

Nigeria will overcome challenges, Adeboye assures

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has tasked Nigeria to be hopeful, dedicated and demonstrate selfless love to their neighbours for greater, divine blessings in 2016.

Adeboye spoke at the New Year thanksgiving and prayer service organised by RCCG, National Headquarters, Throne of Grace Parish Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

He assured 2016 promises to be full of greatness and success, urging Nigerians to be rededicated to God.

According to him: “My message to Nigeria is a message of hope and in 2016, we will overcome all our challenges and match triumphant throughout the New Year.”

God, he claimed, told him that the battles against all forms of evil will end in the nation.

Although he asserted that God would fulfill His parts for better things in the nation, he urged Nigerians to be willing to and eliminate all forms of truancy in the public and private sector.

He stressed that every country that reach the part of greatness works hard as nothing good come easy.

Adeboye stressed: “We have to work hard and trust God for miracles.”

The cleric, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, advised politicians to toe the path of love, harmony, peace and respect for human rights.

  • ‘Support Buhari with prayers’

The General Overseer, Stand on His Promises Evangelical Mission Lagos, Rev Caleb Babatope, has urged Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to enable him take the nation to higher level.

The cleric spoke during the unveiling of this year’s revelations.

He said the current administration will only achieve its missions only if all hands were on deck.

He said better days were coming only if all Nigerians, and that irrespective of their status, they should contribute their quota to effect changes in the country.

The cleric appealed to Nigeria’s political stalwarts and public office holders to have same focus with President Muhammadu Buhari as he is trying to bring country out of the sinking boat.

This, he said, could only be attained if all could shun corruption and politics of bloodshed.

Rev Babatope urged the leaders to have passion for love according to the God’s commandment.

He appealed to them to always remember to assist the less-privileged and also embark on skills empowerment programmes that would benefit the masses.

He urged youths to stop looking for instant and undeserved breakthroughs, miracles and prosperity.

The cleric appealed to religious leaders to stop inviting youths to morning or afternoon programmes when they should be on the field striving for livelihood, stating manna does not fall from heaven and no man can bribe God.
