  • Nigeria hosts World religion peace summit

Nigeria hosts World religion peace summit

There is no denial that the world today is going through varying degrees of tension across borders, violence, injustices, human rights violations and discrimination, and the major cause of this violence has always been traced to religion. Thus, the need for world religions to come together to save the world cannot be overemphasised.
In the effort to put things right from religious angle, the 2nd World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Summit (WARP) held on Tuesday in Nigeria.
The summit tagged ‘Dialogue of Scriptures’, held at the multipurpose hall of Beleke Memorial Mosque, Surulere – Lagos, attempted to find meaning to who God is, if God really created everything in the universe, and why He gave the Scriptures.
Answers to these questions were drawn from the Scriptures of the two major religious group represented as the Traditional worshipper could not make the summit to describe God from his Scripture.
Speaking on the theme: ‘About the God and His Holy Scripture’, Imam Abdullahi Shuaib, Chief Executive Officer of Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation, started by describing God in different languages from Arabic – Allah to Yoruba – Olorun, Hausa – Ubangiji, Igbo – Chineke and many others as he could remember.
The Cleric defined God from the point view of the Islamic scripture – Quran saying: “There is no other God but He. He lives forever and neither sleep nor slumber. He controls all things in heaven and on earth.
“Whatever must come to be must receive His permission. His throne extends throughout heavens and on earth. Allah is the creator of the whole universe and cause to grow, all leaves and plants.”
Imam Shuaib also said that Allah gave the scripture as divine guidance for mankind and as a criterion for establishing rights from wrongs, light from darkness, truth from falsehood, justice from injustice and peace from violence.
Archbishop Anthony Macfonse of Osmond Orthodox Church in his speech started by establishing the fact that man cannot completely understand what God is like because He is beyond our limited understanding. His words: “Definitely we know Him and we have found clues as to what God is like and what He wants from us.” He therefore went on to describe God according to the Christian Scripture: “I am your God, apart from me there is no other. I am God the father of all creation. Before the mountains were made, before the universe was created, I am always your everlasting God and do not live in any particular place.”
Sharing a similar view with the Archbishop, Sheikh Sulaiman Adangba described God firstly as the unseen being at every action and cannot be compared to any creature. According to Sheikh Adangba, National Head of Mission, Al-Fatihul Quareeb Islamic Society of Nigeria: “He (God) created the heavens and the earth and He is the sustainer of the living and none living creatures. He is all knowing; all powerful.”
He further noted that God is the greatest considering the way He created everything by merely calling them into existence. “He created everything by simply saying let there be,” he said.
According to him, for world religion to achieve the desired degree of peace, there may be need for a Religion National Conference the same way those in government are calling for a Sovereign National Conference.
Sheikh Adangba admonished that religion faithful should be conversant with the teaching of the religion’s Scripture given to by God through His prophets.
“It is those who are one that would be saved. Let us be versatile with our Scriptures since it has all guidance for our existence on earth,” the Sheikh maintained.
The fourth speaker, Venerable Nwashili Kaine Desmond of the Anglican Church did not differ from Sheikh’s stands when he maintained that all Scriptures were breathed out by God and permitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness.
The Clergy further said that God gave the Scripture to reveal Himself to man as against the beliefs of Science and that the Scripture was given to reveal the lasting picture of Christ. “God gave us the Bible to reflect Himself to mankind as in the case of a mirror and to also reflect man to man.
The Scripture helps us to see other people’s sins as well as our sins. He (God) gave the Bible to reveal His plan of salvation.”
On his part, chairman of the event, Bishop Johnson Akin Atere, urged every participant to develop personal relationship with God saying: “If you find yourself amidst a crowd in the stadium, praying and calling to God all night long, what matters most is your relationship with God.
Speaking about religious wars, the man of God said: “If you meet a war survivor and he or she recounts happenings to you, you will never desire war. Let us love one another and learn to manage our differences so that we can get closer to where we are going rather than where we are coming from.”
WARP, an initiative of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) headquartered in Seoul, is devoted with sincere hopes that everyone shares the world with peace and good health.
HWPL is an international organization whose mandate is to see the cessation of wars. It pursues this goal through a number of avenues, namely the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), and the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG).
Delivering the closing remark, Shakiru Yekini, Secretary to Conference of Islamic Organisations – the host organisation for the event – gave the assurance that the summit will, in its subsequent editions, engage more youths by taking the event to Hall of tertiary institutions. “The youths are the future leaders and we cannot but get closer to them to teach them what is right to do,” he summed.
  • The change Nigerians voted, by cleric

The President of Joyful Smiles Foundation, a faith-based nongovernmental organisation, Pastor Tayo Kayode, has appealed to the incoming administration to deliver on its change mantra.

He said Nigerians expect nothing short of changes at personal and national levels in the next four years.

Kayode, in a letter to the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, said Nigerians are tired of decaying infrastructure, failed promises and poor standards of living.

This, he said, was why they massively voted for the Buhari/Osinbanjo’s ticket in March 28.

According to him: “Indeed, this is a victory for the common man on the streets, victory for every Nigerian, victory for democracy and victory for change.

“This victory has shown that there is hope for our great country Nigeria and that the vote of the voters now counts. We have now entered into that new era.”

Listing areas that Buhari should concentrate on, the cleric said: “Nigerians need transparency and revival in the oil sector.”

He urged the president-elect to shun political interests and appoint only credible and competent men into his cabinet as ministers.

Kayode also urged the incoming administration to fight corruption and fix the power sector, saying the epileptic supply in the nation was embarrassing.

Nigerians, he said, want Buhari to “reduce the nation’s dependency on crude oil for revenue. Block and eliminate wastages, reduce numbers of federal Ministries where possible, develop other sectors to account for about 50% of our total revenue yield. Nigerians want to see you diversifying the economy.”

On telecommunication, he called for stoppage of exploitation by operators, saying the consumers must be protected to get value for money.

To achieve all of these, he urged Buhari to lead by surrounding himself with “tacticians, strategic planners made up of intellectuals, economists, security experts, agriculture gurus, sport giants, radical politicians, technocrats, educationists, medical and health administrations, engineers and administrators that share the same change vision to start the preliminary plans for your administration now.”

  • Invoking the miracle power of praise!

Life is a battlefield and not a playground; it is a warfare not a funfair. Essentially, the battles of life are spiritual and they operate in form of spells, enchantments, generational curses and satanic manipulations.

It is written: Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw…four horns. And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What [be] these? And he answered me, These [are] the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem. And the LORD shewed me four carpenters. Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles…(Zechariah 1:18-21. See also Ephesians 6:12; 2Corinthians 10:3-5).

The horns of the Gentiles are the wicked forces manipulating the destinies of men. However, we must understand that God’s presence is the master key to a world of breakthroughs and praise is the medium through which we invoke His presence.  All barriers on the path to our Promised Land are cleared off at the instance of His presence through our praises,  because God inhabits the praises of His people and if He is with us, no one can be against us (Rom. 8:31; Psalm 22:3).

Also, we must understand that praise is what to do in any situation or circumstance, when we don’t know what else to do. This is because it is only what can resist God that can resist the power of praise. For instance, we learn from scriptures that when Judah was confronted by three nations and they engaged the weapon of praise, God set ambushments against those nations who helped to destroy one another and Judah prevailed. This means that praise is our strongest weapon for victory against the toughest battles of life (2 Chronicles 20:1-25).

When we praise God in any situation or circumstance, He steps into our affairs and opens new chapters to our destinies (Habakkuk 3:17-19; See also Deut. 28:1).

Why do we engage in Praise?

Praise is one of the principal commands for supernatural breakthroughs: We must understand that while natural breakthroughs are limited to the human realm, supernatural breakthroughs have no human limitations. As it written: Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him(Psalm 67:5-7). ‘Fearful blessings connote supernatural breakthroughs.

It is the platform for the rise of giants and nobles in the Kingdom: From Jeremiah 30:19-21, we understand that engaging our hearts in celebrating God makes celebrities out of nonentities. For instance, David praised God on the field to the point that when the king needed someone to play the harp in the palace, he was recommended.  In addition, when the Israelites needed a king, David was not considered by men, but he was God’s candidate. That means in the midst of praise, God turns His celebrators into celebrities, nonentities into nobles and makes those without identity, governors (1 Samuel 16:1-23).

It is the covenant platform for the rise of new generation Abraham: Abraham is a symbol of supernatural breakthrough in scriptures. We understand from scriptures that at the age of 75, God launched him into his journey of greatness. It is also worthy of note that “worship” was the mystery behind the rise of Abraham into a world of unlimited breakthroughs.

For instance, when he went to the mountain to sacrifice his son, he told his servants that he and the lad were going to worship God. That means worship was Abraham’s lifestyle. The Bible also says that Abraham did not stagger at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;because he was fully persuaded that God would perform what He had promised (Genesis 22:5-18; Romans 4:19-21).

We must understand that the battles of life are real, but our God is more real. When we invoke His presence through praise, He intervenes in our favour and our breakthroughs are guaranteed. Thus, it is only what God cannot do that can withstand the power of praise in any battle. That is what makes praise the ultimate spiritual weapon available to the redeemed in any battle of life.

Friend, the power to access the above qualities, is for those saved. You get saved by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. If you are not saved, you can do so right now, as you pray this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!”

  • Obu preaches peace, tolerance at convention

Over 200,000 members of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS), popularly known as Olumba, recently converged in Cross Rivers state for a weeklong convention with the theme The powerful remnants.

Clad in all-white, the devotees came from North America, Europe and all parts of Africa to receive blessings from the leader of the Sect, Father Olumba Olumba Obu.

All the adjoining roads to Ambo Street were blocked and vehicular activities restricted.

Security was tight at the venue with policemen assisted by the security team of the sect parading the premises. .

The convention started every day after the morning devotion followed by activities of the Universal women and men’s fellowship.

There was also a public lecture and exhibition at the BCS Museum followed by a visit to the Redeemed home of the Orphans.

The explosive praise session on Friday was followed by a feast of Passover conducted by Father Olumba Obu.

Obu, in his sermon, urged the gathering to emulate Christ by showing love and tolerance to everyone around them.

He called for peace through forgiveness.

According to him: “You are the powerful remnants in the world and you have to show true love to all creatures. Never judge or condemn anybody.”

The convention ended with a procession across the streets of Calabar.

  • Baptists set Owerri ablaze

No fewer than 15,000 delegates drawn from across the nation gathered at Obinze in Owerri, capital of Imo State, last week for the 102 annual convention of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC).

The theme of the convention was moving forward: Working and praying for peace.

The event featured bible studies, song ministration, business sessions as well as specialised workshops.

NBC’s President, Dr Supo Ayokunle, harped on the imperatives of peace, stating that no appreciable progress can be recorded in an atmosphere of chaos.

He applauded Nigerians for keeping the peace before, during and after the general elections, saying such peaceful attitudes would move the nation forward.

In his speech to the delegates, he said the church has been making appreciable impact across the nation, especially in the north through provision of aids and supports to Boko Haram victims.

Ayokunle also said hospitals and schools owned by the church have continued to receive support for delivery of social services to the poor masses almost at no cost.

He debunked insinuations in certain quarters that the church is mainly for Yorubas, stating that there are local assemblies of Baptist Church across the nooks and crannies of the nation.

While applauding members for sustained evangelical efforts, Ayokunle said there were still many grounds to cover, calling on them to redouble their efforts to win the nation for Christ.

Governor Rochas Okorocha, who attended the session as a special guest, praised the church for choosing to meet in Imo State.

He appreciated Baptists’ dedication to peace, stating that their prayers have helped to steer the ship of the nation.

  • ‘Yes, some miracles are stage-managed’

    ‘Yes, some miracles are stage-managed’

The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry Auchi, Edo State, Apostle Johnson Suleman, spoke to Adetutu Audu on the last elections and sundry issues. Excerpts:

Most prophecies given before the presidential election turned to be untrue. Do you think people will want to believe prophecies again?

You cannot explain some certain scriptural matters. I read it online that I said President Goodluck Jonathan will win the election. That was a lie from the pit of hell. I never said that. Even the Sunday after the elections, I still repeated it in church that he will not win we should pray that General Muhammadu Buhari will rule.

Having said that, I don’t expect people to judge those who prophesied since they had given those that came to before.

Do you see Nigerians getting the change they clamour for?

In the next six months, General Buhari may have problems because the expectations are too high. All they want is Buhari to put gold on their table. Most of the people who voted for him are youths and youths are impatient; they want result. They don’t believe in progressive change; they want change.

Buhari foot soldiers are former PDP members and people are still defecting. He has not seen the reality of how big the situation. I don’t see any change in Nigeria; what I see is a breath of fresh air.  The APC is going to have problem with the footmen of President Jonathan who feel they must cling to power and remain relevance.

Have you had to face challenges for giving prophecies in the past?

People have this impression that I’m a fighter but I’m not. But I hate people who are double-faced. I don’t like people who are arrogant and I hate lies. Maybe because I’m outspoken, people misread me. I think the only challenge I have really faced is when people you trusted backstab you.

Every other thing, I feel normally comes with running a ministry. And they don’t hit me below the belt because I know people have been through them. But the only thing that has shocked me is about certain trusted friends who turn their backs to backstab you. These are certain friends in the ministry who know you very well to be a man of God and know you to be of God; but because they are jealous, they go to the press and sponsor stories against you and present you as a mischievous person.

One of the things generating controversy is the issue of tithes and donations. Should churches rely on tithe and donations?

Nobody put a gun on your neck that you should pay tithe; it is voluntary. What the Bible said is that you should give one tenth of your incomes to God.  And that is why I said pastors don’t need a private jet. The last time I said it, I got a sledge hammer on my head. Most ministerial operations have been abused. There are widows and orphans in that church and you know how much a pilot earns as well as the landing fee to park an aircraft.

It will look as milking the society as it were, if you are talking about donations, such donations still go back to the church.

For instance, we have auditors who audit us from time to time. Most times they discovered that the expenditures are more that the incomes and they ask questions. I tell them some friends who are not members of the church and want to do something for the church; I call my PA and get the list of things to be done. And I said you can handle this scholarship or that school fees. And some of the tellers of these school fees are brought back to the church. When auditors see them, they get confused but we are so organised that they can be traced that it was not from the church treasury.

So, those giving are not under pressure at all. When you are in a church where everybody is wealthy, I don’t have a problem. But when there are widows, orphans and those in need in the church I do have a problem with getting jets. Nobody can claim to be wealthy when you see people in need. Most of these aircrafts are not even brand new, they are dead traps.

Another area of controversy is the exorbitant fees charged by schools run by churches. What is your view?

Setting up institution is a social service. There are certain people you cannot reach until you go into social service.  I am not against setting up of schools; there are some people who will not come to church but they can send their children to the school. Through that they get character reformation and come in contact with the word.

Where I have a problem is in outrageous fees.  But most churches operate on standard. And they know why those fees are charged.

Some say miracles are stage-managed. Any reaction to this?

Some people’s motive is fame. Look at Pastor Adeboye he was a university lecturer before he was called. I have problem with people who don’t have a background before they come into ministry. They don’t understand process; they just want to fly. People who just picked their bible and said they are trained by the Holy Spirit.

So, yes some miracles are stage managed because the testimonies of the people don’t correlate. But there cannot be stage- managed miracles if there are no real miracles. There is no fake N2000 because there is no original.  Most people who fake miracles don’t have the fear of God and they are not even close to being a Christian.

But I have seen raw miracles in my life. When my wife gave birth to our last child, she died. I mean certified dead. I prayed and she came back to life. Miracles happen every day.

  • ‘INEC should embrace total computerisation’

    ‘INEC should embrace total computerisation’

Following the successful outcome of the 2015 general elections, The Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Lagos Mainland and first Nigerian professor of Robotics, Rev. Adebayo Akinde in this interview with Joe Agbro Jr, speaks on why Nigerians must utilise the power of the ballots and the efficient use of technology in elections, among others. Excerpts:

From the reports you’ve had, how has the election been going?

The elections today (April 11) were much better conducted. INEC was clearly better prepared for this election. Having seen what happened at the presidential elections and the national assembly elections, the electorates are better poised and informed. The polity was heated. Everything was just charged unduly.

We thank God that at least Jega turned out to be a solid man. And he stood firmly. He was transparent enough. He was humanist given the conditions that he worked, dependable, solid, unwavering. One wasn’t disappointed at all.

You said INEC was better prepared for the governorship elections but we’ve been getting some reports of pockets of violence in some parts of the state. Have you heard any of such?

Well, I haven’t heard of any. I have walked down to Herbert Macaulay (road), it was peaceful everywhere. And the electorates were better prepared, more determined now to speak. I must say Nigeria has every cause to thank God. Before March 28, the whole atmosphere was uneasy. Tension was building up. One could see enormous desperation from both the PDP and of course the opposition parties. It was more of a situation of ‘do-or-die’. It must be a time of decision for the country. That was the sort of atmosphere that was created during March 28.

What one has been praying for is that Nigerians must realise the power of the ballot box. I am beginning to see light at the end of tunnel. That at last the Nigerian electorate is beginning to know they hold the ace. It’s going to bring good dividends. Politicians would now go into office and know they must keep faith to the people that have elected them. Nigerians are going to evaluate their performance. Anyone who gets to power and fails to deliver in accordance with what Nigerians want, at the end of four years, kick such people out.

And that is the stage where we can start saying, ‘yes, we’ve arrived.’ We are beginning to get to that. And thank God President Goodluck Jonathan showed what many people didn’t know he had – integrity, magnanimous, large mind, statesmanship which he rarely displayed. He displayed by conceding defeat ever before the results were officially announced.

He saw the handwriting on the wall. And the best in him came out by conceding defeat. He could have done otherwise. But we thank God he did what he did. Not only did he douse tension, everybody, including his party saw the need to toe his line of peace. So one is delighted not that the PDP had been kicked out but because one could see Nigerians spoke and wanted a change. It’s a sign of maturity. And this time around, clearly the electorate is beginning to appreciate this value.

A number of people believe that Nigeria is more divided today than ever before. That if you look at the voting pattern of the last election, you saw the PDP winning in a part of the country and you saw the APC sweeping the polls in another part of the country, what would be your advice to the incoming president in view of this?

First, we must appreciate the fact that Nigeria is a massive nation. In terms of geographical size, it is a massive country. Numerically again, Nigeria is a massive country. It is going to be very, very difficult, yes, some people have been warning and crying out about the danger of a one-party state. It can never happen in this country. We are simply too massive to go a one-party direction. It won’t happen. Nigeria is simply too massive a nation. You’re not going to have a one-party state. It can never happen in this country. And then, there are too many bright, agile, articulate Nigerians that would hold their views convincingly, even when they are wrong. So, where you have such a nation, a one-party system can never thrive. There would be re-alignments and it is always happening. Just see what is happening in the UK.

We must pray that this culture of people expressing their desire through performance to continue in the country. But, now, we are beginning to re-align ourselves along ideological lines.

The introduction of the card readers and PVC has been the major feature of the elections. the electronic system of voting. What advice would you give INEC in this regard for the next elections?

First, we must commend Professor Attahiru Jega. As an academic myself, I’m very proud of him and he is someone one has known for decades. He has remained consistent – an activist, an anti-establishment person. If you know Professor Jega, he has not disappointed us in the academia. So, we must congratulate him and thank God that the government was able to call upon someone of his own calibre to head our independent electoral body.

Secondly, Jega is an accomplished renowned political scientist who has brought his own experience to bear in the excellent performance of INEC. He has made use of technology at the highest level. But for our own local peculiarities, the result of the last presidential elections and the national assembly elections could have come out much earlier. But in his desire to be extremely transparent, of course, such a procedure would take time. But he has made use of the highest technology – the card reader.

I know INEC cold have made better use of the computer in collation of results. But then, transparency could be lost. So, he decided to do it literarily manually. If he had done full electronic, the results would have come out much earlier. If there is any drawback in the last election, it was the length of releasing the results.

Elections were concluded on Saturday, the official results did not come out until four days after on April 1. America is a much bigger nation in terms of land space, in terms of population. Their election doesn’t take that long for the results to come. Nigeria could do it with what Jega has done through INEC if the whole procedure from the beginning to the end had been computerised.

So, I think the only thing that needs to be added to the excellent arrangement that he has done is the computerisation of the collation of results. It’s a matter of you getting the authentic results from the polling booths. The first set of collation would be done at ward level. From the ward level to the state level and all these have to be computerised.

From the state level, then you get to zonal. We have the six zonal structures in our country. And from the six zonal headquarters, then you get into Abuja, which is the national headquarters. A hierarchical type of computer network would have hastened the result much better than what we have. But then, as the maxim goes, ‘Rome was never built in a day.’ So, we should not be so much in a hurry.

The Anglican Church has shown concern over the conduct of the elections. What is the motivation?

It is concern. I don’t know of any greater concern on the part of the church than any other denomination. As far as our church is concerned, we want Nigerians to be godly, to be patriotic, to work for everything that is noble. The bigger the better, there is strength, there is power in unity. Nigeria as an entity is bound to be much more influential, much more powerful than any component in the event of a break-up. We must know that.

So, no single part can gain or will gain in the event of a break-up. It is a fact of life which Nigerians should appreciate. And the earlier we see ourselves as brothers, the better. What I believe should be uppermost in the mind of every Nigerian is to pray a simple prayer. ‘God, teach us as Nigerians to know the true meaning of brotherhood in the spirit of love, of justice, and of equity.’ There will be no peace without righteousness in any human society.

  • Encounter with fresh oil through praise!

From scriptures, we understand that praise is a spiritual medium through which we encounter fresh oil. Just as we change the engine oil of our vehicles from time to time to prevent the engine from being damaged, we need fresh oil (the anointing of the Holy Ghost) in our lives for sustainable impact, victory and breakthrough (Psalm 45:7; Isaiah 61:1-3).

BUT, WHAT IS IN THE ANOINTING?

The Power of God: We understand from scriptures that God rules by His power forever and that power, among others, resides in the oil. When Jesus called His twelve disciples, He gave them power over unclean spirits before He sent them forth (Mark 6:7, 12-13). When Jesus gave them the oil, He called it power. It means the power of God is domiciled in the oil. That is why when we engage the oil with the understanding that it is the carrier of God’s power, we dominate every situation of life (Psalms 66:7, 110:1-3; Acts 1:8).

Victory over our enemies: With fresh oil, we command victory over our enemies and the battles of life. The effect of fresh oil is seen in Psalm 92:10-11. Remember, the power of God is superior to the powers of the enemy, so we have nothing to fear (Luke 10:19; Psalm 92:10-11).

Supernatural Breakthroughs: Supernatural breakthrough is triggered by the anointing, which secures our breakthrough destiny in Christ. Thus, when we keep the oil on our heads fresh, no opposition can stop our advancement and our breakthroughs become unquestionable and irresistible (Isaiah 61:4-5; See also Isaiah 45:1-3).

Divine Protection: The anointing is a seal of protection over our lives and we understand from scriptures that we were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. We must also understand that the anointing forbids molestation on our lives (Psalm 105:13-15). Therefore, when the anointing is fresh on our lives, the enemy stays off and we become a no-go-area for adversaries. Henceforth, no more molestation on your life! (Ephesians 1:13)

Destruction of Yokes: There are certain problems choking our lives whose source we do not know, but we are just victims. These include generational curses, hereditary diseases, plagues, etc. However, we understand from scriptures that: Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us… (Galatians 3:13).

The misfortune in our natural families is no longer our portion, because our family lineage changed at redemption. It is important to understand that the yoke-destroying power resides in the anointing (Isaiah 10:25, 27).

Another of such yokes is the yoke of unfruitfulness. It is important to recognize that fruitfulness is our heritage in Christ and through the anointing, the yoke of unfruitfulness can be destroyed (Psalm 92:10, 14). Therefore, no more barren experience in your life!

It is important to understand that God is the ‘anointer’ and to be freshly anointed, we must gain access to His presence through praise. It is written:

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name (Psalm 100:4).

For instance, David was a man addicted to praise as a lifestyle. He said: Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments (Psalm 119:164; See also Psalm 34:1). As a result, he experienced the flow of fresh oil, which caused him to subdue his enemies (Psalm 89:20-23; See also Psalm 23:5-6).

Every time we engage the mystery of praise, we encounter fresh oil and that is why the devil strives to steal our joy. However, we must recognize that depression disqualifies our access to fresh oil. We must therefore, live a praiseful life to access fresh oil from time to time, because committed and dedicated ‘praisers’ don’t run oil dry. Henceforth, the oil on your life will never run dry!

Friend, to encounter fresh oil through praise, you must be born again. This entails confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. If you are set to be born again right now, please say this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan, to serve the Living God. Today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!” I will conclude this teaching next week!

  • ‘I did’nt predict Jonathan, will win’

The general overseer of Mountain of Liberation Ministries aka Liberation City, Lagos, Prophet Chris Okafor, has denied predicting victory for President Goodluck Jonathan in the just concluded elections.

He was reacting to being listed among clerics whose electoral predictions goofed.

A statement by the church last week, said: “At a point the man of God did saw Jonathan’s victory but he had since updated that prophecy by insisting that the Lord’s hand had left President Jonathan and that God was no longer with him as was divinely revealed to him in a vision.”

It added that he later prophesied that Gen. Buhari was going to win if the election was free and fair.

“We make bold to say that that proofs and witnesses abound to support the fact that the oracle of God had since updated his position on the outcome of the 2015 general election and has finally been vindicated by the outcome,” the statement added.

While setting agenda for the president-elect, Okafor urged Buhari to forgive all his enemies and address the power sector, which has become albatross to successive governments.

He also urged him to pick technocrats when forming his cabinet.
